Hello, I’m fangbranch, creator of this fine online space. I wanted a place so people could talk about their hobbies without any expectations. I’ve noticed that whether people read or watch tv or anything else, sometimes it gets to be a source of anxiety or pressure to finish it or make it look good. Well, that’s just not true. A thing doesn’t have to be the prettiest or the most spectacular thing you have ever created, it can just be. It’s good that you want to finish that show or book or craft project, but your personal worth isn’t in them. I’ve felt that way too. It’s good to have goals, just as it’s good to able to step back and say hey, is this thing I usually do causing me stress? Maybe I need to take a break from it. I’m here to support you. Sheesh, that got deep. Just go have fun and here, have this cake I baked just for you. And a nice thicc blanket.

A bit about me-
I enjoy reading, baking, junk journaling, solitaire, and music. I have a 5 year old tux cat named Jed. Most read genres are Graphic Novel, YA, Food History, and Middle Grade.

@fallownose Hi Fallow! Welcome! Call me whatever name you like, they're all good. That'd be good, do you have any current projects you have going on? As for just general 'getting-to-know-me', I'm an artist (mostly painting and drawing), a pianist, and I love fantasy books! Especially high-fantasy and novels focused on animals And I don't watch TV super often, but my favorite shows are Stranger Things, The Dragon Prince, ATLA, and She-ra. No projects at the moment, unfortunately. I'm finishing up my school semester, so I've been rather busy ^^' Mostly with any extra time I have, I've been reading through a book list I made of all the books I used to love that I haven't read in a long time. For the last couple years, I didn't read any books for fun, so at the beginning of the pandemic I started reading again and loved it! I think the last book I finished was The Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan, which is definitely one of my favorites! Now I'm waiting for more books for Christmas c: Usually I have a few art projects going on but, alas, I've had no inspiration for several months. But a couple days ago I did start drawing some of my OCs from a book series I was writing a while ago. How about you? Anything interesting you've been doing? |

@fallownose a pianist sounds very fancy  I don't have the dexterity for that. What do you like to draw? She-Ra has been on my to watch list, who's your favorite? Rick Riordan is an amazing author! I've been on a mission to collect the original series- but only from Goodwill. I thought that'd be fun. Let's see, as for me I have started a couple of books- Once and Future Witches, and Black Sun. I don't have any projects going on atm, but I have wanted to stitch together one of my junk journals. |

Lizard 🦎 any current projects or tv/books you're working on? i'm writing a bunch of stories i'll never finish for fun xD so far i'm working on a story of this girl named alaska green who has this alter identity called clem fox and an alter family called the foxes and alaska's mother is an esteemed doctor working on the cure to an illness that the government created to lower the population drastically so there would be nobody to overthrow it and nobody knows she is the daughter of the doctor and it has to be a secret or else the spies will force information out of her, take her mother, and destroy the cure the story is pretty cringe but i'm still on the intro and on the first draft xD |

fangbranch - Thanks! I suppose it is fancy, at least when I'm not a hot mess trying to pull a song together last minute  And I mostly draw animals, especially wolves. Wolves are my favorite animal, plus I've drawn them so much that canine anatomy is easier for me than other types. I've also tried branching out into abstract art recently, but it's hard to come up with good ideas sometimes. And yes, you should definitely watch She-Ra! I watched it for the first time a few months ago, and at first I was hesitant but after a few episodes I became absolutely hooked. My favorite character is Catra, for sure. She has such an interesting character arc. And I've actually read very few Rick Riordan books! I just started reading the original series a few months ago, and I'm only two books in so far. Ooh, a junk journal sounds cool! I've never heard of that, how do you make it?

Lizard 🦎 that sounds go good! spy thriller-y @fallownose wolves are cool abstract art is another thing, technically  anything can be art if you call it abstract Any other animated series you're interested in? I'm currently on Pokemon: The Series Ultra Sun and Moon. How do you like Percy Jackson? It's been a while since I've read it but Percy's my favorite. Okay, junk journals. Bear with me- I gut a hardback book. Yep. (pls don't faint) Because I need a shell for the journal. Then I either paint it or cover it with fabric. As for the pages I fold together old maps, coffee dyed paper and myriad of other assorted papers and stitch those into the cover. Then I've got a blank journal to decorate! I put old letters and old postcards in it with some stamps and anything that strikes my fancy. They're really easy to make

I just finished Fablehaven 3! Loved it. The stakes were much higher in the book than the previous, and the new characters that showed up are gems. It's a shame about the Lost Mesa preserve though, and it's people. I've never read Fablehaven before, are they good? |

Yes! They've actually brought me back my love of reading. I highly recommend the series. It follows Kendra and Seth who go visit their grandparents on their farm. It turns out the farm is a preserve for mythical and magical creatures- Faries, Pixies, Brownies, Saytrs, Demons, and so on. But someone wants to destroy the preserve. The writing is easy to read, and so much detail has been put into the magic system. That sounds interesting, i'll have to see if their in my bookstore. |
