Idan
After selling the meat and furs at the butchers and tanners shops, the young hunter needed to get cleaned up, and decided to take a nice, peaceful bath in the large, deep creek near the settlement. He stopped by his house to get a small wash cloth and a towel to dry himself, before casually making his way in the direction of the creek. After a short walk of about ten to fifteen minutes, he reached his destination.
Before he started his bath, he looked around to make sure nobody was in the area who would accidentally catch a glimpse of him. Not seeing anyone, the man stripped down and firstly washed his clothes in the water before hanging them up on a branch to dry. Then he slowly eased into the cool, waist deep water and started to wash away all of the blood, dirt, and sweat that he accumulated during his long hunt. He lowered his body, fully submerging himself in the cold flowing water before standing up in an explosion of water droplets. He was scrubbing through his white blondish hair when he heard a noise, turning his head in that direction.
There he saw her, a beautiful woman who was a few years older than him. Seryan, he recognized her from the settlement, though they never really properly introduced themselves to each other. The long haired beauty was drinking some water upstream near the waterfall. He first made sure that only his torso was above the water and nothing more. He than somewhat softly called out to her so as not to startle the woman. โGreetings.โ Idan said as he washed a layer of sweat and dirt off of his shoulders, better revealing his tattoos and slightly tanned skin. Just then a thought crossed his mind as he saw there she was standing. โI wouldnโt stand there if I were you.โ He stated, knowing that a large sow had a litter of piglets nesting nearby, and she wasnโt too fond of visitors. Idan was very familiar with the forest and has come across the wild pigs several times, a few times the sow had tried to kill him before she learned he wouldnโt hurt her or her young ones. Eventually she grew a small level of trust for the young man, as many of the other animal mothers did, though she was aggressive to anything else.

โ idunn
Idunn knew Gunnar was right. The problem was not finding the treasure, it was getting it back to the boat. Already their chest of loot was growing full. She could tell without having touched it that it would be heavy, probably requiring at least two to carry it. That would only leave two with open hands to defend them on the way down the hill.
She glanced over her shoulder in the direction of the windows. The silhouettes of the soldiers outside did little to reassure her. She could hear their voices growing agitated. It was only a matter of time before one thought to look inside the church.
Freyjrโs whispered voice sounded to her left, โSearch the rest of the building,โ he told them. โPerhaps thereโs a priest or someone here we can use as leverage.โ Idunn nodded wordlessly and set off around the corner, crouching to keep her head below the window panes. She stalked along the pews, eyes gliding down each row. She had assumed the church was empty upon arrival, but the mention of priests made her suspicious of every shadow.
There was no one hiding between the benches. She straightened as she reached the front of the room, where the far wall was rounded and windowless. There were a number of things lined up against the wallโchests, bookshelves, pedestals. Red curtains were draped over them. Something compelled her to step closer and to look under the cover of the nearest curtain. She started, nearly releasing a gasp, as she drew back the curtain to reveal a man. He was sitting on the floor, knees pulled to his chest and back straight against the wall. He was equally startled by Idunn as she was by him, and he opened his mouth to scream. Idunn leaped onto the man, clamping her palm over his mouth.
โShhhh,โ she hissed, just loud enough to catch the attention of her companions. โI found one,โ she called over her shoulder. The priest struggled a bit, but the effort was weak. He was an older man, probably about fifty or sixty. His round cheeks and slumped shoulders betrayed his inability to fight. He was no threat to them, that much Idunn could guess. Just as the others were coming over to help, however, the priest pawed Idunnโs hand off of his face just quickly enough to release a terrified shout.
Idunnโs eyes widened as the voices outside quieted. Their cover had been blown.
โBoys! Get the treasure!โ she shouted, pointing back at the chest which was half way between them and the door, which seconds later would burst open.
When the guards came flooding into the entrance of the church, they would see Freyjr and Gunnar lifting the overflowing chest of wealth. And beyond them, Idunn stood on the stage, knife held to the throat of the priest.
โPut down your weapons or he dies!โ she shouted.

Gunnar Bjornson
โSearch the rest of the building,โ Gunnar heard Freyjr whisper. โPerhaps thereโs a priest or someone here we can use as leverage.โ Gunnar nodded his head at Freyjrs comment. He knew it was the best course of action, because he suggested it in the first place. As he turned away, Gunnar rolled his eyes slightly, but didnโt let anyone see. โOf course the young fool is going to try to take my idea and make it his own. If he would of just listened to me in the first place, nobody would of been injured and we would of already been sailing away.โ He thought to himself.
Gunnar walked along a hallway, peering in various rooms and closets in search of any of the hidden priests. Time was of the essence, and the sooner they find the Christian priests, the better. He walked into a room, seeing a table with some bread and a couple glasses of water sitting atop it. He placed his hand on the bread and felt that it was still warm. โThey are near.โ He thought to himself before hearing a mixture of rustling and clanging behind him. Gunnar slowly turned around until he was facing a cabinet. He quietly made his way over towards the cabinet before swinging the door open. Inside crouched two priests, looking to be around in their twenties to thirtyโs, surrounded by a cluster of pots, pans, and plates. As they prepared to scream, Gunnar clamped a hand over each of their mouths and squeezed hard. โIf you make a single noise, I will slit your throats.โ He whispered in English, which made them nod their heads, a look of horror in their eyes.
He pulled them out of the cabinet, careful not to make any noise with the dishes that were inside. He peered at a couple silver crosses that were hanging around their necks. โNot a single noise.โ He reminded them before yanking the crosses off and pocketed them. He shoved them towards the door, pulling his dagger out and placing it in front of one of their throats and gripped the back of the neck of the other priest tightly as he shoved them along towards the main room. Once he got there, he saw Idunn had found another priest, and walked the two he found over to her. โI found two myself.โ He said, reverting back into their normal language.
Once the priest that Idunn has found screamed, Gunnar cursed under his breath as he and Freyjr ran towards the treasure. As soon as Gunnar picked up one end of the chest and one of the two bags that also contained their treasure, soldiers came pouring into the cathedral, weapons ready. Gunnar looked at the men cooly, a small smirk on his face as he seen them. โIf you do not drop your weapons and close yourselves in one of the rooms in this building and let us leave, my companions over there will kill those three priests.โ He said in English again, much to the English soldiers surprise and confusion, due to the fact that they have always considered Danes to be stupid, wild beasts. He nodded his head behind him towards Idunn and Freyja. โAnd once they kill them....โ He said, stopping to let out a sharp, loud whistle. There was a few seconds of eerily silence, and then a loud, blood curdling howl of a wolf answered the whistle. It was Bjomolf, answering his master. โAnd once they kill them.โ He repeated โMy wolf will feast on their remains.โ He said, his voice growing dark. โNow do as youโre told. You have my word we will not kill them if you do as we say. If you donโt, we will kill them, or we will keep them and either sell them as slaves, or keep them for servants.โ He said, knowing full well they would listen to him.

Seryan
The moment Seryan turned her attention downstream she saw the large form of Idan bursting out of the water with a glorious spray of freshwater. With a mouthful of icy water, she almost spat it out in utter surprise, instead, she whipped her head to look away from Idan and covered her embarrassed smile with her hand. Has he seen me? Maybe I can sneak away if I-
Alas, his smooth voice sounded and Seryan jumped with surprise. From where she was perched on the slippery wet stones, she almost slipped into the water, only catching herself when she gripped onto a stone to her right. She felt like a downright fool as she turned her head back to Idan with a sheepish smile, her hair decorated with bright yellow flowers, and the edge of her dress wet at the edges from brushing against the rocks. She managed a polite nod in reply to his simple greeting, her cheeks rosy. It's not that she was unaware of the male figure, but she certainly wasn't accustomed to seeing someone like Idan in his most vulnerable state. She would be a liar if she said she didn't appreciate the sight of muscled shoulders... she turned her gaze away quickly.
She had been about to open her mouth to apologize, yet the breath left her mouth, Idan's voice sounded again. She turned her attention back to him, but her green eyes were wide and stared at his face. "What do you mean?" Her voice was raised a few pitches - a mix of embarrassment and now concern. Her eyes narrowed as she asked, "What are you going to do?" She knew the forest well in regards to all the niche areas that were important to her. Due to her lack of experience with animals, she had little knowledge of what to expect when she was in their territory, so her first thought wasn't he was warning her of a potential danger, but that he was just stating a strange fact.
She straightened up her form and brushed some strands of hair behind her ear. Nearby she noticed Idan's clothes hanging on a branch and she blushed again as if suddenly remembering the circumstance of there strange meeting. She would have to keep this a complete and utter secret or else she'd be too embarrassed to ever look the poor young man in the eyes again!

Idan
Idan chuckled slightly as Seryan jumped when he called out to her, and grinned ever so slightly when he thought he caught a glimpse of a blush on her face, though they werenโt extremely close, so it was kinda hard to tell. He always thought she was a pretty woman, and seeing her giving him a cute embarrassing smile only made her seem that much more pleasant to the eyes. โSurely I can trust you to not let the word get out that you caught me in this..... state?โ He said, slightly waving a hand towards his clothes to indicate he was undressed.
When she asked him what he was going to do, he shook his head. โYou misunderstand.โ Idan stated while still scrubbing his chest and shoulders with the wash cloth. โI know the forest and animals that dwell here very well, so I know that you are near a wild sows litter of piglets, not too far behind you.โ He said before adding โI also know she is very territorial and protective. She wonโt take kindly to strangers snooping around, and she may attack.โ Just as he finished speaking, he heard a wild, angry squealing. โI think she smelled you. They donโt have great eyesight, but they can pick up on a scent.โ
Idan heard the sow come crashing through the brush, ready to fight whoever was near she sleeping young, ready to protect her family. Idan quickly waded over towards an overhanging limb that his towel was hanging from, and wrapped it around his waist before climbing up the rocky bank and standing in front of Seryan. The mother pig was coming in fast and had the two humans trapped in a corner. He could reach for his weapons, but didnโt want to kill the mother and leave the babies orphaned. So, without a word, he spun around and picked Seryan up before wading into the water. He kept the woman above the water level as he made his way to the opposite bank. โProblem solved.โ He said as he sat her down. He knew he probably should of told her first before picking her up, but the man had to act fast, and he felt like a slap was probably inbound.
โThereโs a bridge on the main road upstream not too far away.โ He said to her before glancing back at his clothes. โIf youโll allow me, I could travel back with you, though Iโll need to get dressed first.โ He looked down, making sure the towel was still around his waist, which it was. โGreat, now I have nothing to dry myself with, Iโll have to travel back wet, or I could use my fur cloak. I could of done it without the towel, but she would of definitely hit me.โ He thought to himself.

Seryan
Hand to her lips to cover her curved smile, Seryan nodded quickly as Idan waved towards his clothing. She wasn't sure who would be more embarrassed by such knowledge being shared among the clan - it is not befitting of a lady such as herself to be a witness to a man bathing. Even though there were many lax people within the clan (evidently, as Idan didn't seem too stressed given the way he merely continued to scrub the sweat away), Seryan was the daughter of her mother, Ysolla, and her mother was quite prudish.
There was a release of tension in her shoulders as Idan continued onward, only for the tension to return two-fold and in her entire body. "A sow?" Seryan was not well read about the animals but she wasn't daft - she knew a sow was a protective mother and a dangerous animal. Seryan immediately started to step back up the rocks and pebbles, "I'd best be going then," She quickly replied in unison to the squealing that sounded in nearby undergrowth. By the Gods... Could this trip to get dyes go any worse!?Thankfully, or perhaps not, her attention was so focused on the boar heading her way that she hardly noticed Idan until his arms were scooping under her knees. Her immediate reaction was a short yelp and a defenseless flail of her legs, not that it did any good. She had no choice but to concede in being carried. With crimson cheeks, she turned her eyes to look over Idan's shoulder (anywhere but his face, she couldn't bare looking at his face) and saw the protective sow at the other side, pacing and snorting. It sniffed at her flower basket, grasped it in her teeth, and stomped over it. "Oh..." Seryan murmured feebly.
It was only moments before she was placed safely over the other side, and she was quick to scramble to her feet. She wasn't sure how to react to the situation. Her mouth hung slightly open and her brow furrowed as she considered if she should be upset that Idan picked her up like she was nothing at all, or at the fact a damned pig just destroyed her days work! With a sigh, she let her head fall into her palm in what can only be interpreted as frustration. "Thank you for saving my life but curse you for treating me like a child's doll. I'd feel braver to get more upset with you if it weren't for the fact you are, well, most vulnerable." A smirk twitched on her lips and she gestured vaguely in his direction. She continued, But I do appreciate the courtesy of keeping my gown dry." Considering the fact that Seryan had never spoken to Idan so much in her life (only ever at special events or passing moments did they ever speak), she did feel as though she could get along with him well enough. Especially as he suggested walking with her to somewhere safe - a gentlemanly offer.
She would have asked Idan to fetch her basket if it hadn't been destroyed, so she could only nod, "That would be good. Admittedly, you seem to be more aware of the forest than myself. Here, I'll turn around. Swear I won't peek." True to her word, Seryan turned heel and began stepping down the rocks until her feet reached flat ground. When her foot touched the soil, she felt a familiar icy shiver down her spine. The same feeling from this morning...
Usually these strange sensations go away after the incident has occurred. It was concerning that even after a dangerous incident had occurred something worse was still be to expected. Was it her destiny? Or someone else's? Perhaps she was getting too caught up in thought. "Are you almost done?" She called without looking over her shoulder.

โ freyja and freyjr
As the other two went about following Freyjrโs orders, the twins took the time to categorize the treasure theyโd gathered, pulling it together in a neat pile. It was clear that they wouldnโt be able to carry all of it back, as there were only four of them, but the haul that they would achieve would be great indeed. Freyjr gave up at his attempts to break the lock on the chest; heโd deal with it later. Freyja stood nearby, keeping guard, although she kept glancing over at him, no doubt inspecting the wound over his eye.
โI am fine, Freyja,โ he told her, after the hundredth time heโd caught her staring. She snorted at him but didnโt immediately argue.
โYouโre no more fine than youโve ever been,โ she huffed at him. Once he moved closer to her, she reached over and swatted the back of his head.
โOw!โ Freyjr grunted. โWhat was that for?โ
โThat,โ Freyja replied, โwas for letting yourself get injured. Moron.โ He rubbed the back of his head and shot his sister a false glare, but did not respond, as he heard the sound of approaching footsteps. Idunn returned first, dragging behind her what was clearly some sort of a priest, judging by the robes he was dressed in. He was also an older man, if the silver in his hair was anything to go by; he struggled against Idunn, but she paid him no heed and continued to drag him along.
Freyjr opened his mouth to respond, but Gunnar reappeared as well, pushing one priest ahead of him while dragging another by his neck. Hm, three captives. He quirked an eyebrow at that. โGood,โ he told the group. Gunnar marched his captives over to Idunn and grouped them together. Before they could plan their next move, one of the priests screamed, alerting the soldiers outside of the Vikingsโ location. Damn. Freyjr and Gunnar rushed towards the chest, while Freyja stepped closer to Idunn, readying her weapons again, but the doors burst inward and what seemed a dozen or so soldiers came thundering in. Almost immediately, however, they froze.
โIf you do not drop your weapons and close yourselves in one of the rooms in this building and let us leave, my companions over there will kill those three priests.โ Gunnar started speaking in what Freyjr assumed was the language of those soldiers, as they clearly understood him. He let out a whistle, and a wolfโs howl echoed in answer. โAnd once they kill them, my wolf will feast on their remains. Now do as youโre told. You have my word we will not kill them if you do as we say. If you donโt, we will kill them, or we will keep them and either sell them as slaves, or keep them for servants.โ
There were a few seconds of hesitation. Freyjr sighed and strode over towards the older priest. In a flash, he struck outwards with the hilt of his sword, slamming it into the older manโs chest. He doubled over, coughing and wheezing. Finally, the soldiers seemed to get the hint, and the sound of weapons clattering to the ground filled the chapel.
โFreyja, Idunn, you keep an eye on the prisoners. Gunnar, help me with the treasure. Weโre getting out of here.โ

โ idunn
Perhaps Freyjr was more intimidating, for the guards only threw down their weapons after he made a threat of his own. As they funneled into the storage closet, Idunn dragged the wheezing priest toward the open cathedral doors, blade held to his throat. She paused there and allowed Gunnar and Freyjr to lead the way out. Both of the men were injured, but they managed to haul the heavy chest through the doors without any hiccups. As the boys made their way out and down the stairs, Idunn and Freyja watched the guards lock themselves weaponless inside the closet. Only once Idunn had tested the lock did they quickly direct the captives out of the church.
The three priests were easier to shepherd than cattle. They mutely followed the Vikings down the hill toward the boat. None made an attempt to scream or run, undoubtedly because they feared retaliation. The older priest whimpered every time Idunn made the slightest move. She resisted the urge to laugh, not only because he was pathetic but because he clearly thought she was a demon spawn. All Saxons, particularly the devout, were too terrified of the Danes to realize they were humans like any other. In this particular case, it worked in Idunnโs favor. Any other time, however, she would be inclined to put those fears to rest with her charm. She hid her smile from the priests as they trudged down the final steep staircase.
When they arrived on the beach, Idunn abandoned the priests to help Gunnar and Freyjr lift the chest onto the boat. It was even heavier than it looked, and it was quite the struggle to get it over the edge of the vessel. Gunnar was still bleeding from his shoulder, and Freyjr sported a wound above his brow. Thankfully the priests stood docile under the watch of Freyja until the vikings had successfully boarded the wealth. From there it was simple enough to depart. The four danes quickly repeated the tasks of preparing to sail.
Before setting out, Idunn jumped down to speak with the priests one last time. โYou can go,โ Idunn told them. By this point she had dropped the intimidation act. Her eyes were softer, and the fierce set of her shoulders had now relaxed.
The older priest backed away without another word, and when he ran up the hill she could see from his dress that he had peed himself. Both of the younger priests moved to follow him. Idunn had begun to climb back into the boat when one of them turned. There was a wickedness to his expression that caught her off guard. โGood luck with the curse!โ he called out. All four vikings paused in what they were doing. Idunnโs pale face contorted into an expression of confusion. The priest then called out in perfect Norse, "May your love whither, your coin fall through holes in your pockets, and your clan fall to ashes!"
โWhat?โ by this point, the older priest was halfway up the hill and it was too late to chase them all down. The boat shuddered as it freed itself from the rocky beach and slid back into the current.
The young priest did not explain his comment further. He turned and ran after his companions, disappearing into the mist like a will-o-the-wisp. Idunn turned and looked back at the others. Something compelled her to walk over to the chest as the others drew out the oars. She threw open the top and plunged her arm down into the pile of silver and ornaments. Near the bottom of the chest, her fingers brushed against something wooden. She struggled to draw it up and out of the heavy pile, but when she did, her face fell. It was a rudimentary wooden sculpture, no larger than a dagger. Down its length were a number of carved runes. A Dane curse.

Idan
Once he set her brown on the other side, he stepped back a few steps and listened to her talk. When she thanked him, he simply nodded his head and said humbly โIt was nothing, really.โ When she made the comment about how she should be mad at him, if he wasnโt missing his clothing, he laughed, flashed her a warm smile, before turning it into a smirk. โThen hopefully, for my sake, if you are ever mad at me, you catch me in this state so that I donโt get scolded.โ Idan turned his head around and glanced at the now destroyed basket and all of her collected flowers she had inside. โIโm sorry for your flowers, I would of grabbed them as well if I seen them.โ He stated as she turned around so that he could get dried off and changed.
He grabbed all of his clothes, armor, and weapons hanging from the branchโs before wading back to the bank, making sure to keep his stuff above the water level. He set them on a clean dry rock and started drying himself off with his wolf fur cloak, glancing up at Seryan as he did so, a smirk ever present on his lips. โSure hope I donโt get any loss hairs sticking on different places if my body and making me itch.โ He commented, mischievously trying to make Seryan blush. He let out a small, soft chuckle as he started pulling on his clothes and fastening his armor. Once he had everything on, he grabbed all the wet clothes and tucked them under one arm before calling out to her. โIโm done now.โ
The man then started walking, staying right besides Seryan as he led her down along a well worn trail that let towards to main road to the settlement. As they were walking, something caught his eye and he veered off the trail a few paces to investigate. He slowly bent down, and when he came back up, he had a handful of beautiful orange Dahlias that he picked from the ground. โHere.โ He said and handed them out to Seryan. โThey canโt make up for all of the flowers you lost back there, but at least itโs something.โ He said with a shrug before starting to walk again.

Gunnar Bjornson
Gunnar smirked slightly in satisfaction as the soldiers quickly did as he instructed them to almost immediately after he and Freyjr made both of their respective threats. โThat was easy enough.โ He said with a grin, glancing behind him to look at the girls and the priests. Speaking in English, he addressed the trio of priests they captured. โMuch can be said about the lack of courage for your Saxon soldiers, though did they really have any other choice?โ He then waited for Freyjr to pick up his end of the chest before starting to make their way out of the cathedral. โOh, can one of you girls grab all their weapons? Itโll save me some blacksmithing to do if we take them with us.โ He stated before making his way down the narrow cobblestone path that snakes itโs way down the hill towards the docks.
Gunnar couldnโt reach the boat soon enough, his bleeding shoulder throbbing slightly in pain, and blood slowly oozing out, though it was slowly down now. Once they reached the boat, Idunn, Freyjr, and Gunnar loaded the chest aboard the boat, and Gunnar loaded the sack of gold on the boat as well that they placed the lose gold they gathered in. As he worked at getting the boat ready to depart, he heard a priest yell, in perfect Norse โGood luck with your curse!โ There then was a pause, then the priest added โMay your love wither, your coin fall through holes in your pockets, and your clan fall to ashes!โ Gunnar spun around, half tempted to charge the man and kill him, but saw that he was too far away and they had to leave as soon as possible. โI wish your brother was here to put an arrow in that priest.โ Gunnar muttered to Idunn as they finished making their preparations.
Once they got the boat ready to sail, Gunnar pushed the boat off and climbed aboard, making his way to the back of the boat to steer the ship. He wasnโt one to complain, but he knew he lost too much blood already, and constantly working the oars would undoubtedly make him continue to lose blood and not allow his wound to scab over. So he placed his injured right arm on the handle, knowing it shouldnโt hurt it much if he didnโt have to raise his arm high, and his left arm on a rope that ran to the sails. He glanced over at Freyjr, knowing the young man probably wanted to return to steering the ship like he did on the journey to the monastery. If he asked him to politely move, Gunnar would because he was a team player and wanted to keep everyone happy if he could help it. However, he was going to stay where he was as long as he could.
As the boat started to slowly drift down the current, Gunnar watched Idunn open the chest and plunge her arm down deep within. โWhat are you doing?โ He inquired, but go his answer soon enough. As she pulled out rudimentary wooden sculpture, the man let out a loud curse as he recognized it almost immediately. โWhat in the world are Saxon priests doing with a Dane Curse?!โ He exclaimed as a mixture of anger and confusion appeared on his face. He also had another emotion, fear, though he kept it hidden from the others. He wasnโt about to look weak and scared in front of the others. Then a thought crossed his mind. โI wonder if it was for all of the treasure or what was just in the chest.โ

Seryan
At his sly comment, Seryan felt every right to tell him off, but she figured he would only make another comment meant to embarrass her. Yet, without even her prompt, he made another comment about her hair. "I do hope you itch terribly." She folded her arms over her chest and turned her nose up, but the rosy hue on her cheeks was unmistakable. What a strange series of events this morn had turned out to be. Never would she had expected herself to be in Idan's company. She turned towards him when he gave her the all clear and blinked in surprise at the bunch of dahlia's he offered. He seemed rather nonchalant about the gesture so Seryan took them from him and gave a thankful duck of her head. "I, uh, thank you!"Stepping quickly to catch up to his head start - and then remaining at such a pace merely to keep up with his strides - Seryan once again pondered on the strange happenings. Just as she did earlier, she felt a sliver of icy cold run down her spine. It was a warning of sorts, one that gave no indication of what was to come - only that someone was going to happen. It was a cruel thing, really, because sometimes it made her feel as helpless as a leaf on the wind.
She busied herself by biting at her lip and twirling the dahlia stems in her fingers, yet her eyes were narrowed and thoughtful. If Idan had said something, she was too lost in her own thoughts to have heard him. Ahead, on the well-worn path that marked the upstream bridge, was a figure. The icy cold gripped at Seryan's lungs and for a moment she couldn't be sure she wouldn't collapse right there. Could that figure be something of evil?
Gweran At last, Gweran's patience paid off. It seemed that this path - although well worn - was not walked as often as he had expected. Stranger yet, the pair walking towards him did not come from the path but from the stream. By the looks of them - a tall, soaked-through man, and a rosy-cheeked lady - he merely thought they were some young-ins who had been up to something that was... well, it wasn't of his concern, truly. "Excuse me," Gweran straightened up as the pair approached and brushed down his linen shirt. It was embroidered with black thread around the collar and down the sleeves. Gweran looked at them with caramel coloured eyes that showed nothing but welcoming and intrigue, his lips were turned into a smile, and his cheeks dimpled. He seemed as kind as a stranger could be. "Now, here, I've been traveling this path for many a sunrise but some ways off I was victim to some bandits. I managed to come out unharmed but they took everything I had to my name!" Regret turned on his face and he reached his arm to rub the back of his head in earnest frustration. "I do hate to seem defenseless, but I was wondering if there's a chance I may be able to get some assistance? If you are from a nearby settlement, all I need is a word with the Jarl in charge. I'm a bard, y'see. I've lost my harp in the robbery, but if there was one around I could work for some coin surely." Gweran held his hand to his chest, his delicate fingers were lean from harp playing, it seemed. "Now, here, if you help me, I won't tell a soul about your secret. An eye for an eye." He grinned mischievously and looked between the pair. Seryan jolted with a look of shock and could only imagine what the stranger was insinuating. Her nerves were buzzing anxiously by his presence, but her throat was tight and she words didn't come through. Instead, she looked at Idan with fear - which could easily be misinterpreted as a fear at this misunderstanding being spread incorrectly.

Idan
Idan chuckled at Seryanโs comment about him itching. โHow very cruel of you, Seryan.โ He said playfully, a large grin on his face. When she thanked him for the flowers, he simply nodded his head and answered her with a short, humble response. โItโs nothing.โ As they walked, he constantly stayed alert and watching, it was in his nature, since after all he was a hunter. He glanced over at Seryan, and noticed that something seemed wrong with her. โAre you ok?โ He whispered to her. He seen what he believed to be a slight hint of fear on her face. As they continued to walk, he noticed Seryanโs fear growing, she was basically trembling. โWhatโs wrong?โ He inquired before following her gaze.
A ways ahead of them, near to bridge that they were walking to, stood a figure of a man. The figure was clothed in dark clothes, and they was tall and thin. Idan felt a slight hint of uneasiness from the man, but ignored it, passing the hint of fear off as simply Seryanโs fear rubbing off onto himself. โGreetings!โ He called out before softly placing a comforting hand on Seryanโs shoulder briefly, to indicate that if something goes wrong, he would protect her. As the approached the man, he glanced around, surveying every bush, tree, and every shadow, for a hint of an ambush or some hidden danger. After deciding there was none, he refocused his attention on the man, giving him a welcoming smile.
The man looked kind enough, though Idan knew anyone could be a pretender, and looks could easily deceive. It would take him a little time to decide if this man was trustworthy enough though. As the man started talking, Idan simply nodded his head slightly and listened to what he said. โThatโs rather unfortunate for you.โ He said simply after the man spoke of the bandits. The man was thin, but not scrawny, and he was fairly tall, so Idan thought it was kind of strange that this man wouldnโt have any noticeable injuries from the bandits. Idan decided not to say anything yet and to keep his suspicions to himself as the man continued.
After hearing that the man was a bard, Idan perked his eyebrows up ever so slightly, but not noticeably so. The settlement was currently lacking in bards, and Idan did enjoy listening to some music from the rare bard that traveled through their settlement. He did find it strange however that the bandits stole the mans harp and didnโt decide to simply break it. Harps and other musical instruments werenโt usually considered to be worth much to bandits and highway men, usually being left behind after the scene of the crime, and in shattered remains more often than not. When the stranger said what sounded to Idan to be a threat, the young man took a slight step towards the man. โAnd what is it that you think is our secret?โ
Idan glanced over at Seryan and saw a different look of fear in her eyes, and he understood roughly what the man was getting at. Idan wouldnโt stand for it, he wouldnโt allow Seryanโs honor as a woman to be ruined by a man who knew nothing about what he was talking about. He turned back to look at Gweran. He gave him a plain, emotionless look as he waited for the older mans response.

Seryan
It was strange this feeling that Seryan felt deep in her stomach, it was one she couldn't read - an uncertain anxiety, but something darker yet. She remained silent, her lips sealed into a thin line, and she stared directly at the stranger. His words, although bothersome, were not as concerning as his sly amber gaze and unreadable aura.
GweranLooking between the pair, Gweran realised he would need to operate a little differently. It didn't appear they were a young foolish pair - in fact, the young lady intrigued him, and the gentleman's well-advised caution. His amber gaze softened, as did his features. At Idan's unreadable gaze and Seryan's obvious discomfort, he spoke with a gentler voice - not gentle to be insulting, but gentle to not incite anymore suspicions. "Now here, I do not mean to intimidate. I am merely aware that when a young pair such as yourself enter the woods, it is often to have some secrecy." He tilted his head and smiled, his hair falling over his forehead. "Alas, I was also young once."
He reiterated, "My main concern currently is to simply seek shelter under the protection of the Jarl in exchange for entertainment - secret or no, may I beg for your assistance?"
Gweran had a specific thought in his mind. It was the same greedy thought he'd had since he was exiled from his last settlement: to claim ultimate leadership. During his exile he'd spent much of his time weaving the strange workings of magick. He would consider himself an expert it if had anyone to compare himself too. While he cannot wield a weapon in battle, he had a way with his words, seeing and feeling strange future happenings, and with the darkness in his mind, he had passion and dedication aplenty.
Seryan Seryan looked back to Idan and furrowed her brows thoughtfully, "I can't see why we shouldn't assist him... he does look helpless..." She whispered. The stranger was tall and thin in nothing but a shirt and trousers, in the cold he wouldn't be safe. Despite her hesitations she could not pinpoint a reason why he was causing trouble - she was not in-touch with her feelings the same way he was. She trusted that the Jarl would be able to assess the situation.
