Reeling of random names: Beefur 5/10 A standard name Jaywing 4/10 Very overused, but good for a background character Flickerfoot 7/10 I love flicker- and foot is an alright pairing Coltsfootstem 4/10 I would love to love this, but the fact that -foot is already a common suffix makes it awkward Rosefoot 7/10 I like this! Bluemist 5/10 Again, a little overused but a solid option |

It's not really fair to compare because... it's an OG name, we've had over a decade to get used to it. There's also the context of many cats having their names changed later in life in those stories, like One-eye and Clawface, which makes it more likely that he earned that name rather than was born with it; it's more like a title than a warrior's name. |

Fogecho 8/10 A good image pairing, I think, and it sounds nice too. Melodywhisker 6/10 not bad, but a 3-2 syllable name is a lot Nightgaze 7/10 simple and effective. Also -gaze is totally underused Graywillow 7/10 I like the idea, but it's not quite right to me either. Branchswirl 4/10 -swirl can be fun but I don't think this is the place. Sweetfang 9/10 idk why I love this so much, but I do Vineshade 6/10 solid. mid. i've def used this one before, a solid filler name Tried to choose some of my more “unique” names (minus Nightgaze she is just there for fun lol) Reasons if you don’t mind! |

Still cute Hickoryheart 3/10 alliteration does no favors to a bulky prefix Coppersky 8/10 I think this fits!! Fallowtuft 7/10 Mallow- or Tallow- maybe? Fallowkit seems mean? Adderfang 5/10 love adder- but -fang just doubles up on the same imagery instead of adding something new Acornshadow 8/10 very adorable!! Little tiny cat!! Maplesky 6/10 I think -sky fits, but it doesn't vibe with me Shadestorm 4/10 this cat would bully the main character |

A good background character name to me. Reasons would be great but it's okay if not The first is probably a bit non-trad, the second is pretty solidly traditional. My thoughts are if it would fit in the series one allegiances, it's traditional. Otherwise, non-trad. Anything past mid PoT/OotS is where the erins start playing with some fun names instead of every cat being a -fur -pelt or -claw. |
