I've been wanting to start getting into operas (basically because of you.) wheres a good place to start? aight so the magic flute was the one that got me hooked on opera (not the first one I saw though that was Carmen) and that one's pretty well and fine except for the sexism, occasional racism depending on the production, suicide scenes, and apparent Freemason imagery but it's catchy and good and Papageno is in it and around here it gets marketed to kids aLL THE TIME so yeah it's a pretty good start because it's the one everyone takes their kids to the barber of Seville is also decent for a first look into opera. it's where the "Figaro Figaro Figaro" line comes from and people are only familiar with the overture because of that one bugs bunny episode but it's pretty simple and has a happy ending at least until you see the sequels where count Almaviva is suddenly a jerk and theyre trying to start the French Revolution lmao So yeah those two are the ones people usually get to see first and I'm pretty sure they're both on YouTube with good subtitles so you don't have to pay like sixty dollars as for the the ensemble operas besides those the Marriage of Figaro is Iconic(TM) but also rather confusing due to the relationship mania and the French Revolution undertones, and Don Giovanni is while also Iconic(TM) very dark and definitely not for kids at all because of its subject matter, so they're usually not the first ones people see off the bat

I downloaded some of don Giovanni for a science fair project, and I listened to a bit of it but had no idea what was going on if I'm being honest.

@redheartofriverclan Moral Watchdogs: The Site I honestly snorted. True haha . I love this site way more than the old one. I'm not too good recognizing languages honestly, but yeah it must have been in Italian then. The entire thing was on Apple Music so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'll get around to watching and listening to it soon! RavenI assumed as much, first of all, hello! Welcome and glad you're here! You said you love foreign languages, are you multilingual or just find them fascinating? I don't know how you babysit full time, good grief I could never do it. You are a true hero.

neb yeah this site feels closer-knit than the old one because everyone knows each other, like on old WCF is make a thread and it would get plagued by a ton of people who is never seen before and it would be like. Who are you? also it feels more relaxed, like if we were on old WCF I would have been banned for my comic's disclaimer alone. the drama is a bit worse I guess but that's really not much of an issue to me because I never add on to it unless there's clearly a person in the wrong but yeah despite plot holes here and there and a ton of cuts being made in every version don giovanni is a+. most people label it Mozart's finest hour (unless you're Beethoven, who found the matters of it far too vile and would rather have sexist racist freemasonry propaganda with 2 suicide scenes, good logic right there Beethoven)

@redheartofriverclan a+ logic from Beethoven. yeah thats how I feel also. just seeing as any thread I go on, I can recognize 99.9% of the forumers who comment on my stuff, which is really nice. about the drama, true, but honestly I would prefer this drama over the old forums and its drama. that sounds odd but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ SησωAlrighty, have fun!! I hope you enjoy it, thanks for letting me know!! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/6575102/images/lNtnPuxeCzkaKMNYVXVv.gif)

neb I prefer this drama as well because I actually know what's going on most of the time. honestly the reason I'm not really in any forum cliques or squads is so that was I can stay purely neutral on almost all drama (I think the only things I've really done were trying to go against spongebob layout guy when they said they liked how homophobic Mike Pence was and then just making roast jokes at Tigerdovefan or whatever his name was. But yeah I gues the drama is less immature than it was on old WCF because you don't have all the whiny 12-year-olds lying around? I mean it's still drama but it's less obnoxious in that sense

@redheartofriverclan those are exactly my thoughts. I don't think I'm in any, but I do have a select few people I talk to a lot, but I'm not sure if they would consider it a 'squad' per say. (I think I missed the whole sponge bob layout guy, when was that?) Its still obnoxious but everyone is more grown now, so its honestly so much better.

neb spongebob layout guy was first on old wcf. They had an edge lord emo clan with "NO GAYS" as practically the only rule, so I managed to enter obviously gay and bisexual characters in right under her nose and then slowly took over the entire clan ala the woody collective. She got banned because she was fighting with the mods over not being able to put bible quotes in her signature lmao. She joined here with a bizarre spongebob-shaped layout and it was weird. She created The Republican Chat, where she let loose her sexist and homophobic views. (Also she got assigned me in a secret santa thing and never gave me a gift rip.) She left earlier this year to focus on school or something, but the legacy remains. but yeah and at least the drama here has a legitimate reason for the most part other than some whiny grade shchool kid is looking for trouble.

@redheartofriverclan Good grief. She sounds really annoying and it seems like they probably thought a lot about themselves. They probably thought being EdgyTM like that was cool. Glad she left tbh.
exactly. I also feel like we have a little bit less drama than the old WCF, not to say it doesn't exist but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

neb yeah that was basically them. Their main character in the rp was a total Mary Sue named Shadowflower. She kept trying to romance my character (which was, of course, Rabbit/Leporello, who was in that rp very obviously at the least bi), and it was really weird and Shadowflower had kits with like a ghost or something lmao. Taking over the clan was surprisingly easy, I just went and usurped the entire government and it was then mine just like that. Then she got banned and I remade the page, getting rid of the "NO GAYS" rule. yeah drama here is usually bigger but isn't as fluid and constant as it was on old wcf and of course and update on where I am in drawing the comic: new characters hell yeah

so I was banned for saying after the migration to here "this place is empty lol" even though I had for the past 3 months referenced nothing but a nsfw opera that broke every forum rule it I was never banned for lmao I stalked wcf for like 4 years before joining so I've technically been here for five years, man I'd sit on my old kindle fire for hours reading the forums at night planning out my future forum career, I decided back then in 2012 when I got an account I would call it Redheart of RiverClan. The name obviously stuck. (it was 2012 who can blame me) a friend of mine got angry once because I referred to Fireheart as Firestar and she hadn't finished the first series yet lmao i know I have more I just have to remember them
