I was reading a Fanfiction earlier today where Fireheart joined RiverClan, and I was really enjoying the concept! I love Firestar AUs because its always interesting wondering what it would be like if Firestar didn't enter the forest or joined a different clan.
Do you guys have any Firestar AUs you really enjoy? What one is your favorite?

One of my absolute favorites is Twin Shadows by Cushfuddled: www.deviantart.com/cushfuddled/gallery/54835689/twin-shadows In it, Rusty didn’t join the Clans as a young cat, and I’m fact doesn’t encounter them until much later, around the time of A Dangerous Path. By then, Tigerstar has successfully taken over TC with no one the wiser to his crimes, WindClan is still in exile, and a whole bunch of other unique but perfectly fitting changes have happened. It’s an absolutely wonderful and creative story, told through comic form, with absolutely gorgeous traditional art.

WindClan Firestar. I'm working on this fanfic (among many others lol) and I like the idea of Fireheart being like a son to Tallstar.

I’ve also played with the idea of an AU where, instead of wandering into ThunderClan territory, Rusty finds himself in ShadowClan territory at the wrong end of an angry patrol. As punishment for trespassing, Brokenstar takes him as the Clan’s prisoner, basically making him do a lot of work around camp and helping Runningnose gather herbs and either hunting or gathering crow food for the Clan to eat so that his warriors are freed up to do more battle training.
Rusty hates being a prisoner of course, but he can tell that not every cat is as cruel as Brokenstar, and he starts becoming especially close to the kit-apprentices. He’s very protective of them - he sneaks them extra prey whenever he can, he covers for them if they’re too sick or too tired or scared to keep up with their training, and he does his best to protect them from Brokenstar’s wrath - however little that is.
Eventually, one of the parents of some of the kit-apprentices approaches Rusty (I’m thinking Mousewing - I headcanon him as Nightwing and Whitethroat’s dad). He’s noticed how much Rusty’s been doing for the kit-apprentices, and he appreciates it. He’s too worries for his kits’ safety to stand up to Brokenstar openly, at least not yet, but he offers to train Rusty how to protect himself, in case he ever needs it. A lot of the parents of the kit-apprentices end up pretty fond of him - though Brokenstar’s cronies aren’t afraid to be cruel to him - and do what they can to help him, and Runningnose, who was the one to receive the fire prophecy this time, does what he can to help the young tom.
One day while helping Runningnose collect herbs, the tom finds a half-dead with exhaustion Yellowfang in their territory. She’d wandered for a bit after her exile, but had eventually returned, desperate to find some way to stop her son but unsure of how. Rusty drags the half-conscious she-cat somewhere she could be hidden, then he and Runningnose nurse her back to health.
Rusty tells the she-cat that there’s warriors inside of ShadowClan who would be willing to fight against Brokenstar if given the chance. He’s been with the Clan for some moons now and isn’t guarded nearly as closely - he could make a run for it if he really wanted. But he’s grown close with a lot of cats inside the Clan at this point, and is determined to help save the Clan from Brokenstar’s tyranny and turn it back into what it was meant to be. Yellowfang grows determined and, with Runningnose and Rusty’s help inside the Clan and the help of the elders outside of the Clan, puts together a group of rebels who eventually ruse up and drive out the hated Brokenstar.
It’s decided that Yellowfang is best suited to lead the Clan with her experience as both medicine cat and warrior, even with her initial reluctance, and Flintfang is chosen as deputy. The newly named Yellowstar declares that Rusty has done much for the Clan, more even than many Clanborn cats, and offers him the chance to join ShadowClan as a warrior. He becomes Fireheart of ShadowClan, a tom more quiet and reserved from his moons as a prisoner, but deeply loyal and compassionate, especially to the young cats of the Clan. Even when all the kit-apprentices are grown, they all deeply admire and respect Fireheart and look up to him as a big brother, and he’s always fiercely protective of them, even as warriors.
I didn’t really think any further ahead for this AU, it was never something I was going to write, just a fun AU to play with in my head. I just really loved the idea of protective big brother Rusty with all the little kit-apprentices looking up to him. ^^

I’ve been thinking of one lately but it’s still very early in it’s development- I just thought of some new parts now.
Spottedleaf receives the ‘fire alone can save our clan’ prophecy. It’s delivered to her via Spottedpelt, making it a dual meaning prophecy. Rusty joins ThunderClan as per usual.
Things are mostly the same for a while since I haven’t worked out everything. But when Bluestar goes to name a new deputy, she names Whitestorm instead. She figures ‘fire’ has already saved the clan from Tigerclaw so she can move past it. Fireheart begins to have dreams, much like the ones in Firestar’s Quest. He seeks advice from various medicine cats and leaders but no one can really help him.
When Bluestar dies, Whitestar names him deputy but seems worried and hesitant. He obviously can’t share exactly why- he just says his path might travel beyond the sight of StarClan. He plays an integral role in defeating TigerClan and BloodClan. Surely the prophecy must be complete now.
The dreams become clearer and more frequent. He finally gets 3 separate pleas from Cloudstar, Spottedpelt, and Spottedleaf to rebuild SkyClan. He wants to take some cats with him, but the only cat who agrees to go is Graystripe.
Hijinks ensue. Traveling gags abound. They reach the SkyClan gorge and gather some cats- some cats we normally meet, some we don’t. I guess some events stay the same but I’m not too sure. Fireheart and Graystripe wait for a sign of who should be leader. Eventually both SkyClan ancestors and StarClan give confirmation: Fireheart is destined to lead SkyClan.
By now enough time has passed that the forest has begun being destroyed. Cats have been sent on the journey to Midnight and the clans have fled to the lake. The newly named Firestar, and his deputy Leafdapple, leads SkyClan to the lake. The rest of the clans, having assumed Firestar and Graystripe to be dead are shocked.
That’s all I have for now and I don’t have all of the details ironed out, much less thought of.

I just recently thought of making an evil Firestar AU where he joins ShadowClan instead, and gets extreme scars/injuries from the training Brokenstar gives him. (Badly torn ears, scarred pelt, missing tufts of fur, etc) He starts developing an obsession with becoming a strong warrior and leaving his kittypet roots behind, wich drives him down an evil path.
My favorite Firestar AUs are the ones where he joins different Clans, dosen't come to the forest, etc.
