Have you ever come across any MAPs that have songs that don't necessarily fit the theme of the MAP? If so, why don't you think they fit? Do you have an alternate MAP idea that the song could actually FIT into? (Excluding: All of Dr**kin*tor's MAPs since most if not all of them don't really have the best song choices.)
I would basically choose almost all of the Mapleshade MAPs out there. Cops and Robbers, The Devil Within, I Can't Decide, Nightmare, the list goes on and on. Cops and Robbers I think would fit a sort of Starclan vs Dark Forest MAP instead. The Devil Within COULD HAVE shown JUST Crookedstar's Promise and not try and fail to fit Mapleshade's story into it. Nightmare could have fit well into the three and their problems with their powers, and how much they wished they didn't have them. (aka what the original idea of the MAP was) Edit: I forgot I Can't Decide. I think it would fit well into a comedic horror MAP about how Starclan has ALL this power over how and when cats die and how they can get a BIT caught up in it. Plus we need more comedic and horror MAPs

As much as I enjoy ColaCat, I really think her Onestar and Firestar MAP doesn't really work. There's a lot that goes on that confuses the viewer and having it grayscale makes it harder to understand. Not to mention that it switches to Leafpool, I think? Then back to them and it's just an awkward transition for this specific narrative. I also think the song doesn't fit Firestar and Onestar personally, but I can see why some would use it.

I get using musical numbers for MAPs, but it has to fit them to a T for it to work. Wait for It fits Oakheart very well, but that's also made by a collaboration channel and not a MAP. Finding songs overall can be tricky and telling it to match the song and fit the narrative is also another obstacle.

Finding songs overall can be tricky and telling it to match the song and fit the narrative is also another obstacle. I don't think they HAVE to fit them to a complete T, it just needs to work well enough so that a person watching it can go "Huh, I can actually imagine this scene happening with this particular song!" I think some musical numbers that CAN work are: The World Was Wide Enough-Gray Wing and Clear Sky in The First Battle (Hamilton) My Eyes-Squirrelflight and Ashfur (Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog) Brand New Day-Breezepelt (Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog) I'm Not a Loser-Jayfeather (Spongebob the Musical) (Don't ask, it's a guilty pleasure of mine) Seventeen (Reprise)- End of The Last Hope (Heathers) Don't do Sadness-Breezepelt and Heathertail (Spring Awakening)

okay kinda off topic by why did your star out draikinator's name? did something happen? sorry i'm not a part of the warriors community outside of browsing here sometimes and watching random MAPs that pop up on my feed A whole suitcase of shit happened but it's a lot to unpack. You can probably look them up on WG to get a few answers. They left the WC fandom entirely recently (thank god), so imo they aren't really relevant to the fandom anymore outside the drama they caused.

That one serious Hawkfrost AMV that has the sadboy remix of No Scrubs by TLC Like if you ignore the lyrics, yes it can fit pretty well because the instruments and stuff sound sad But then you hear the lyrics and remember the original version of the song is about dating and loser guys and suddenly the AMV feels funny

I know there's one I've watched that was so weird and off, but I don't remember it. Most of the ones I watch I watch over and over again, until the songs are permanently etched into my brain cells and woven deep into my veins.

Ivypool & Hawkfrost MAP - Deviltrain
The song just ... Sounds awful. I couldn't get past 30 seconds in the MAP because of it. It's a great example of how song choices for MAPs are getting more and more ridiculous.

The song just ... Sounds awful. I couldn't get past 30 seconds in the MAP because of it. It's a great example of how song choices for MAPs are getting more and more ridiculous. smh cant believe ur dissing devils train like this that song smacks in all seriousness, whether or not u like the song, its still spot-on for the theme of this particular map. the song is about an unruly young man unknowingly making a deal with the devil (in which the devil even specifically offers power and riches)- in particular, a devil that is implied to have tormented his family before. hawkfrost is the devil that has tried to tear ivypaws family apart before via his murder of firestar, and is now offering a disgruntled and envious ivypaw power and glory in exchange for her sacrificing her honor and morality, a metaphorical selling of her soul, with hawkfrost being deceptive of his true intentions and the depths of his evil. even his pitch is spot-on to the song: hes offering allies, companionship, and support in her endeavors, where the devil in the song appeals to the young man by suggesting that they are quite alike and that they could become good friends (“or i can be the bee in your bonnet, your best friend forever, two peas in a pod flockin’ like birds of a feather”). it even matches with hawkfrost and the cats of the dark forest being told of in a negative light, matching the young man in the song constantly being lectured on morality and warned to “stay away from the train tracks” (which is where he later meets the devil in the songs narrative) anyways as for the title question, i agree cops and robbers for that mapleshade map felt pretty weird. i guess it was because killing them was her own sense of “justice” but it just feels off. idk if it was just me, but that zombie song sleekwhisker map also felt like an odd choice too. edit: massive edit to extrapolate my thoughts on the devil train map lol

Plagues for Firestar and Scourge makes zero sense. They never even found out they were related, there was no brotherly angst. Could've done Gray Wing and Clear Sky.

yeah honestly like all of d*********'s song choices didn't really make much sense to me, nor do i think they fit well. just really strange and oddly specific aus.
a lot of the hamilton maps never really fit as well, but that just might be my bias because i don't like hamilton xP
cops & robbers, piggy pie, some mapleshade maps lol.
can't really think of much else that others haven't already said. most of the song choices for maps are genuinely quite good.

I was so confused by Piggy Pie. Like, the song and story didn’t seem to go together at all.

I have seen Interlude IV (Showtime) used in A LOT of fanworks, but I have also never once seen it work. It have seen some that got close but it's never quite hit the mark for me. It always, always requires some level of twisting around from the content creator to try to make the song fit, and while I can tolerate it to some extent with songs(for example I actually don't mind the Non-Stop Onestar MAP), it seems excessive and trying to ram a square peg into a one hole with this song. I think it COULD work with a very specific combination of characters(Needletail and Rain talking about killing Darktail, maybe?), but it seems like it's just kind of given to generic drama and it doesn't work.
I have to assume that this song is only used due to its connection to SU. And yes, many Hamilton songs are also guilty of this. ONE LINE fitting should not be enough to carry a MAP; just make a clip of that single line if that's the case then.

Some people may disagree with me here and that's okay but I have some.
That Sweater Weather Hawkfrost MAP. The designs were really beautiful and everyone did a really good job but I just cannot get over how they used Sweater Weather for Hawkfrost of all characters lol. Just doesn't fit imo...
That Glam rock Video Killed the Radiostar Tigerstar MAP. Once again great idea but I just think the song wasn't the best choice.
And that Snowtuft Sadness Runs Through him MAP. The AU script was all over the place and I didn't think the song fit at ALL.

Not a map, but the Ivypool and Hawkfrost Heavy is the Cost PMV, because the song is about online dating.
The Lost Colors Ivypool and Dovewing MAP.
In general, I feel I have high standards for finding a song that really clicks/fits, I often find songs that fit other characters from things that aren't warriors way better than 98% of warriors maps fit their characters. For some reason I haven't found many songs that fit a warrior cat to that level, though, even though there are so many characters. Though I have seen some Wings of Fire MAPs with songs that fit perfectly in that way, but not as much for warrior cats.

(Or better yet, an emo/old style shipping MAP, I would have loved that, I'm a sucker for old style AMVs) I don't think the point of it was to fit with Tigerstar specifically, I think it was supposed to fit the theme of the MAP. I can see the song fitting well with the glamrock aesthetic, it is funky and spunky in all of the right places imo. I think the song for the Snowtuft MAP fit well. That song does talk about the descent into darker places a person goes into, and in that AU, Snowtuft does go through a slow descent into hating the clans after all that he's been through with them. That being said, I can agree with you on the script and AU concept part, they are a bit wack and could have been composed better.

When you said that the song was about online dating, I immediately thought of an alternate idea where it was just a MAP about bizarre ships in a serious manner. (i.e. Hawkfrost and Ivypool for example, or Ashfur and Scourge) I always wondered why some songs fit well for other characters from different pieces of media, but not for Warriors.

I get that about the VKTRS map. I think the MAIN thing about the Snowtuft MAP is that it was paced so fast and the AU was all over the place. I think if multiple elements were changed about the pacing and the script, I would think the song fits really well. But I was too busy wondering wtf was happening to properly listen to the lyrics and think it would be really nice.
