StagStar stood, and with a strong voice called out "let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here for a clan meeting!!" before he settled once more, to wait. most everyone was here, but he wanted to make sure they were paying attention. he had sensed the alarm on MilkPebble, and knew it was best he address the strange scent now before the steppeclan cats came out of the medicine cat den. the leaders tail swung lazily back and forth as he watched his clanmates gather below him.
LostMist had been dozing in the nursery when she heard StagStars call. with a heave, the kit heavy queen got to her paws, and waddled out of the den, sitting just outside in a warm spot of sun. these kits better come soon.. i can barely walk! she thought to herself as she struggled to get comfortable. finally, she settled, and wrapped her tail around her paws, her eyes turned expectantly up to her clan leaders position.

Milkpebble dropped her mouse back onto the freshkill pile with relief, quickly padding closer to Stagstar's perch. She felt curiosity growing in the pit of her stomach now and she eagerly stared up at her leader, tail twitching.
Hareslip yawned and lazily padded closer to Stagstar, stretching as he made his way. He sat down in a sunny patch near Lostmist, eyeing the heavily pregnant queen with casual concern. He began to groom as he waited for Stagstar to begin his announcement.

Once Berryshade noticed that Lostmist had left the nursery he quickly trotted towards her. He touched his ginger nose lovingly to her cheek and sat down beside her. Their kits could be born any time now. Berryshade’s fur rippled with excitement, he was unable to follow Stagstar’s words. By giving his head a slight shake he tried to regain focus on the announcement Stagstar was making.

Elmsong sat in camp, watching Stagstar and the medicine cats for a while before finding his own place to sit in the shade not far from the camp entrance. "I wonder how many cats SteppeClan has," he muttered to himself, "and which ones some of our cats might make friends with when there are gatherings." his ears pricked up when he heard Heavyheart and Willowbee returning to camp.

StagStar, seeing everyone gathered before him, stood once more. "Today we have established a herb trade with our neighboring clan, SteppeClan. They sent representatives to do so, and, upon further discussion, they will remain here until dusk. I intend to meet with their leader tonight, and will return with them to the border to do" The bulky tom announced. "I expect them to be treated as friends. There will be no fights" He iterated heavily before climbing down from the tree, effectively dismissing the meeting.
LostMist listened intently, enjoying her mates company as she lounged. It was a surprise that the visitors were allowed to stay in camp, but, she was not one to cause problems anyways. Once StagStar dismissed the meeting, the queen struggled to her paws, and padded over to the prey pile, feeling hungry after dozing all day. Her belly swayed with the weight of the lots, and she huffed, annoyed.

Even though Stagstar said it was friendly contact with the Steppeclan cats, Berryshade felt uneasy having them around. Who knows what they could be up to, he didn’t trust them yet. He tried to push these thoughts to the back of his head, he was sure Stagstar had thought this through. The orange tom stretched his front legs before he followed his mate to the prey pile, easily catching up with the huffing she-cat. A pang of concern crossed his amber eyes. “Are you feeling okay?” He asked Lostmist. If he could’ve traded places with her, he would’ve done so in a heartbeat.

Willowbee sat nesr the entrance with her prey around her paws as she had just entered camp when Stagstar called the meeting. She had already know about the trade but she hadn't known they were going to be staying in camp. She looked mildly concerned but shook it off and smiled.
Violetfrost was still out hunting. She had caught some prey already but was stalking another vole.

Milkpebble stood and stretched, glancing around camp for new faces. Her hunger forgotten, she began to imagine what interacting with another clan may be like. The she-cat's gaze slowly made its way to the medicine cat den, where she locked eyes with two strange cats. SteppeClan! She offered them a quick, awkward smile before quickly looking away, not wanting to be caught staring.
Hareslip stretched his long legs once again, looking around at his clanmates in curiosity of how they took the news. He was comforted that everyone seemed more or less at ease with the situation, and began to daydream of future gatherings with a new clan.

Softpaw leaped up excitedly and hurried back to the clump of moss she had abandoned. She was so excited about this new clan, maybe they even had apprentices her age! Their weren’t many here in Mistclan and she wondered what they may be like.
Heavyheart felt nothing in particular over the Steppeclan news and wandered back to the freshkill pile to retrieve his abandoned mouse. He retreated to the edges of camp and laid down to eat.
Sweetmeadow turned back to her den but caught sight of Milkpebble cautiously approaching, obviously interested in the newcomers. She waved the young warrior over with her tail, Milkpebble was a sweet she-cat and a perfect cat to first introduce.
Stumpleg had heard the news from his position at the mouth of the Elders den and now meandered over to the fresh-kill pile, hoping to spot a cat to eat with.

StagStar padded towards the medicine cat den, greeting his clanmates as he went. noticing SweetMeadow beckoning MilkPebble over, he nodded his approval. "come, you guys dont have to stay cooped up in the medicine cat den if you dont want to" he called to the steppeclan cats. out of the corner of his eye he saw the elder, StumpLeg, and waved a greeting with his tail as he turned to watch the rest of the clan. he would monitor the cats here, for any signs of unease, and take care of it as best he could.
LostMist stopped upon arriving at the freshkill pile, dipping her head respectfully to StumpLeg. "yes, im alright. theyre just heavy" she assured her mate quickly. truthfully, her body was getting tired, and she prayed to starclan that the kits would come in the next few days. she was sure her paws would be full but at least it would be easier on her body! "ill be glad when they decide to make their arrival, thats for sure" she commented to BerryShade. nosing through the pile, she chose a plump vole, and chose the nearest sunny spot to settle down to eat, leaving room for her mate and even StumpLeg to join her if they so chose to do so.

“I can imagine.” Berryshade nodded softly, he sensed she wasn’t feeling too comfortable but he didn’t want to dwell on the subject. He eyed the kill pile and picked out a small bird to work on. Sitting down next to Lostmist he began plucking the feathers from his meal. “What do you think about the Steppeclan cats?” He asked in between bites, while his eyes scanned the cats in the clearing. He hoped to be able to take her mind off the toll these kits were taking on her body.
Sealpaw hurriedly stumbled into the camp. “Oh dear Starclan..” The young tom muttered under his breath. He must’ve forgotten about the time while he napped on his favorite sunny spot. His hazel gaze quickly shifted to the medicine cat den and his nose caught a whif of the Steppeclan cats. Sealpaw had only recently begun as Sweetmeadow’s apprentice. Quickly he made his way over to his new mentor and the cats that had gathered in the den, while his long tail hung low with a hint of shame. He was afraid this wouldn’t make the greatest first impression to the cats of the other clan.

"Oh!" Milkpebble nervously smiled at Sweetmeadow and trotted over to the other she-cat, trailing just behind Stagstar. "Hi, Sweetmeadow," she dipped her head to the medicine cat. Her wide gaze then turned to the newcomers and she dipped her head to them as well. "I'm Milkpebble." She glanced around at the cats now gathering in front of the den, doing her best not to stare at the SteppeClan cats but much too curious not to study them a bit.
Hareslip chuckled a bit as he watched Sealpaw scurry across camp from afar, amused at the apprentice's rush to his mentor's side. He craned his head, curious as well to meet the new cats, but did not budge from his spot in the sun–no need to overwhelm the newcomers, there would be time to meet them surely once things had settled back down.

Darksky had picked up a mouse from the freshkill pile. With the rodent firmly in her jaws she wandered over to Hareslip and gave him a nod in greeting. She settled down next to the tom and followed his gaze. “So what do you think about that?” The black she-cat gestured to the clutter of cats in and around the medicine cats den, wondering what he was thinking about. She sniffed the dead mouse that laid between her frontpaws for a short moment and then dug in for the first bite.

Hareslip nodded back at Darksky and then glanced back at the medicine cat den, tucking his paws underneath himself. "Its definitely one of the more exciting days our clan has had in a while," he purred with faint amusement. After another heartbeat of watching his clanmates interact with the new arrivals, he turned away to face the she-cat once more and mewed, "What about you? Gonna introduce yourself?"

Sweetmeadow dipped her head to her approaching leader, glad that things were working out. She was grateful to have such an open minded tom as the leader of Mistclan. To Milkpebble she mewed, “Why don’t you show our friends around camp? Maybe find them a few nests to bed down for a little while, they are no doubt still tired from their journey. Sweetmeadow felt more then saw her apprentice slide up beside her. Pleased to see him, she flicked her tail against his flank teasingly. “Slept long enough huh?” She purred with amusement. “Why don’t you go put away those herbs the Steppeclan cats brought? Meet me back here when you’re done.”
Rosepath nodded in greeting to both Stagstar and Milkpebble. She was the first to step out of the Medicine cat den, her brother following excitedly after. Dartfoot gave Milkpebble a wink, “I’m glad we got such a beautiful molly as our Guide, the names Dartfoot, I’m one of the runners of Steppeclan. You’ll never meet a cat with paws as fast as mine.” Rosepath gave a sigh at her brother’s antics and introduced herself. “My name is Rosepath, I’m Steppeclan’s Medicine Cat. It’s nice to meet you Milkpebble.”
Stumpleg made his way over to Lostmist and Berryshade with the shrew he’d picked. He dipped his head to them both and took a place by Berryshade. “The Camp’s all stirred up, haven’t seen this much energy in quite a few moons.” The tom flicked his ear, pleased by the going ons. “It’s good to see everyone excited.”

(Sorry fallen, I will reply to your post tomorrow morning I noticed it too late.)
Darksky swallowed a bite and shrugged. “Nah. There probably will be gatherings and such to come. I guess I can introduce myself there.” She offered the tom a light smile. “Besides, I think they’re plenty busy with all those cats swarming them right now. I’ll leave them some room to breathe.” She scarfed down her last piece of prey and gave her soft black chestfur a thoughtful lick. “I wonder what their territory looks like.”

Milkpebble smiled and nodded her agreement to Sweetmeadow before turning her attention to the SteppeClan cats. She felt her fur slightly heat up at Dartfoot's wink and compliment, glancing quickly away from the tom at Stagstar and Sweatmeadow with a flustered smile. Chuckling a bit at the tom's introduction in contrast to the levelheaded she-cat's, she dipped her head once more towards the siblings. "Its really nice to meet both of you. Are either of you hungry at all? I'm sure there's plenty of freshkill to share if you'd like to eat and rest before I show you around." She took a step back to signal to Rosepath and Dartfoot to follow her, her eyes raising to look questioningly at Stagstar for approval.
Hareslip hummed in agreement, pausing to groom the fur on his own chest. "Yes, I'm sure everyone will tire them out quickly today, heh. Their territory is, uh.... Steppe-y. I assume." Hareslip narrowed his eyes and smiled into the distance before looking back at his clanmate. "Darksky, could you remind me what a 'steppe' is? Do they live on a mountain?" He chuckled a bit as he spoke to indicate that he was totally–probably–mooostly joking. Mostly.

Sealpaw offered his mentor an embarressed smile. He was lucky to have a mentor as kind and understanding as Sweetmeadow. He nodded at her question and went to pick up the herbs the Steppeclan cats had brought. With a determined look on his face the young tom stored them with the other herbs in the den.
Berryshade gave the elderly tom a respectful nod. “Yes. It’s nice to see how warm our clan can be. Even to cats from other clans.” He took a small bite from the bird he was working on, chewing thoughtfully. “Stumpleg, have you ever met cats from other clans before?” The ginger tom wondered out loud. He knew Stumpleg had many interesting stories to tell. The elderly tom had been around for many moons. Berryshade could only hope to be as active as Stumpleg if he would reach his age.
Darksky grinned and playfully rolled her eyes at Hareslip. “Well, Hareslip I guess they live high up in the clouds, don’t they?” She paused, twitching her whiskers with amusement. “But in all seriousness, I bet their land is dried to dust. I can’t imagine living in a hot sandclearing.” That was how Darksky imagined a steppe to look, she knew it was dry and hot but she wasn’t really sure what more there would be to a territory like that. “Not with my fur anyway.” She looked up at the sun and shifted her gaze back to Hareslip. Darksky needed to remind herself to connect more with her clanmates. Sure being alone could be nice and peaceful but she had been feeling a little lonely lately. She knew that she was mostly to blame for it. A simple talk like this improved her mood for the day.

Frostwhisper stepped out of the medicine cat den after Rosepath and Dartfoot, not saying anything, just looking around at the cats of MistClan. She caught a few of their awkward or wary glares and tried not to feel uneasy at being surrounded by another Clan of strangers. When she had grown up in SteppeClan they had known of no other cats other than a few rogues and loners.
Elmsong spotted Willowbee by the entracne to camp. He picked up a squirrel from the fresh-kill pile and padded over. "Would you like to share a meal?" he asked, noticing she was watching the SteppeClan cats.

Hareslip grinned back at Darksky, pleased to have amused his normally quiet clanmate. "Oh, I dunno, I think I might be made to live in a hot sandclearing!" He took a moment to flip onto his back, demonstrating how his pale brown pelt camouflaged nicely into the dusty clearing. He stretched out a paw in front of himself, his long limb reaching towards the sky, trying to block out the sun. "But you're right," he mewed thoughtfully as he squinted into the sky, "that sun would get old fast." He flipped back over, purring in amusement before he realized he had just dirtied up the fluffy pelt that he had been cleaning. Ah well, it was bound to happen, he supposed. He turned his attention back to Darksky with a smile.

The she-cat caught some flying dust with her black hairs as Hareslip rolled over. She gave her fur a light shake and playfully jumped to her paws. “I’d watch out if I were you.” Darksky grinned at the tom as she narrowed her blue gaze. “If you keep demonstrating your professional sand-camouflage moves Stagstar might send you back with them.” She used her tail to gesture at the Steppeclan cats, noticing some were looking back. She was too occupied with the conversation to decide if they were within hearing distance of the two cats joking around.
Sealpaw eagerly returned to his mentor after completing the task she gave him. He positioned himself behind Sweetmeadow to give her the space she needed to converse with the other cats around her, he would wait patiently for his turn to introduce himself.

Harespring purred in amusement, the tall tom jumping to his paws himself for a playful confrontation. "Uh! They should be so lucky, Darksky! But, never fear, my loyalties lie only with MistClan." He lifted his head in pretend haughtiness, though he couldn't help but smirk a bit. He followed her gaze over to the SteppeClan cats and chuckled a bit, waving his tail at them in a friendly greeting. "Besides," he continued, glancing back at Darksky with a playful smile, "I'd only agree to go if their camp is in the clouds. Thats just logic."

Darksky raked her paw across the ground, causing dust to fly up. “You better be loyal to Mistclan.” The she-cat exclaimed to Hareslip, suppressing a laugh. Her black fur was covered in patches of dust. “What would we do without a master of disguise like you?” Her ears perked up when Dartfoot chimed in. Obviously the Steppeclan cats had overheard them. She offered the tom a grin, he seemed in for a laugh. “Your territory sounds dreamy. I believe you have wings as well?” Darksky circled around him, as if she was inspecting him. Her eyes glimmered with playfulness.

Milkpebble purred as she watched Dartfoot approach her clanmates, relaxing a bit as she watched the goofy exchange, though still very aware of the presence of her leader as she patiently awaited his approval. She didn't want to get too comfortable, she'd been given a pretty important task after all!
Hareslip's eyes widened for a moment in surprise as Dartfoot approached him, but the tom quickly broke out into a grin. This guy got it! He drew himself up straight to really demonstrate just how long his legs really were, puffing his chest out playfully. "Can I jump? Well, friend, they don't call me Hareslip for nothing! Might as well be a bunnyrabbit instead of a cat, right, Darksky?" he gently nudged the she-cat with his shoulder, smiling. "The sun? Psh. Easy!" He felt a newfound interest in these SteppeClan cats, this tom seemed like someone he'd get along with! He purred at Darksky's playful jab. Wings! Good one, heh.

"A camp in the clouds, wings, and jumping over the sun. When did you get ideas like that about SteppeClan?" Frostwhisper asked, a little confused. "We live on the flat steppeland. You could say we can run pretty quickly, but nothing like jumping incredible heights or flying." she scoffed.

“Hmmm a bunnyrabbit... I’d say more like a frog.” Darksky smiled and gave her clanmate a gentle, but playful nudge in return. If gatherings with the Steppeclancats could have the same friendly atmosphere she would definitely not mind attending. Her trail of thoughts was disturbed by Frostwhisper’s voice. She shifted her blue gaze to the Steppeclan she-cat, who looked like she had fought many battles. “Ah lighten up, we’re just joking!” She grinned at Frostwhisper as she ruffled her fur, shaking some leftover dust off her black pelt. Turning her attention back to Darthfoot she stiffled a laugh at his comments. How did a seemingly serious cat like Frostwhisper survive a long trip to Mistclan camp with a jokester like Darthfoot?
