Willowbee scented near the border and nodded as it was nice and fresh. She watched to see what Stagstar would do now. To see if they were moving on or if the tom would mark the border again.

Elmsong gave the border a few quick sniffs as well, padding off for a moment to check another marker. He quickly rejoined the group after, following Willobee's gaze to Stagstar.

StagStar checked the border markers before nodding, satisfied. There wasn't any particular rush this morning, and he loped Along at a fairly casual pace, renewing a scent marker here or there as he went. "We will cover half the territory before taking a break to hunt" He called to the patrol, glancing over his shoulder.

Willowbee nodded to Stagstar following along behind him and the others. She was still pretty sleepy but she kept up. She scented the air but it was just filled eith the scent of border markers.

Elmsong picked up speed to catch up as the patrol moved on. He settled in again beside Heavyheart, ever the silent warrior, and scented the air again just as Willowbee did.

StagStar chuckled, and shook his head at his ever energetic apprentice. "I tend to favor rabbits. They're usually fat and juicy, good for sharing with your friends too" He replied, as he scented the air. "Tell me, what do you smell? Besides our markers"

Elmsong noticed Heavyheart staring off across the border and he checked the air again, moving to where the wind blew towards them from across the border to get a better scent. "Other cats?" he muttered, looking to Heavyheart

StagStar had also noticed the scent on the wind. The source didn't seem terribly close, and yet, he wanted to be sure. There was no clan on this border, to his knowledge, so it was most likely loners or rouges. "Spread out along the border, but keep within earshot. We will find out where they are closest to and decide from there" He instructed his warriors.

Elmsong nodded and found a space between two bushes where he had a clear view of the border through the undergrowth. He stared out at the field beyond, not bothering to hide since it was his own border he was defending.

A small white she-cat followed the eager tom more slowly, scenting the air and eyeing the patrol of MistClan warriors warily with her bright yellow eyes.
Elmsong heard Heavyheart's growl and his fur stood on edge in anticipation, thinking if the other warrior saw fit to growl then there really might be trouble coming from these cats.

Willowbee fluffed up when the stranger approached. She hissed and fluffed up jer ginger coat.

As the cats came out of the woods, StagStar stepped forward, squaring his shoulders. It wasn't until the third car spoke her name that it clicked. The leader flicked his tail, calling his clan mates off the offensive stance, and stepped forward. "RosePath... It's been a long time. I do remember you." His tone was warm, and he sat at the borders edge. "Are you guys okay? I'm guessing you settled down next door if you're here seeking friendship" He concluded, examining the 2 other cats with the medicine cat.

Elmsong took the leader's signal to relax and moved away from the guarding position he'd taken. He padded back over to stand behind Stagstar, looking at the newcomers curiously.
"We've been settled in our home for generations, it's simply that there is a swath of empty, unused territory between us that we never explored, which is why we never found your Clan until recently." Frostwhisper, the small white she-cat, explained, dipping her head to Stagstar to show she wasn't trying to come across as rude. MistClan must not be used to having guides who speak up and correct leaders that way, she thought, I should be careful to be more polite.

Willowbee smoothed her fur and sat back quietly listening. The cats seemed friendly enough but she wasn't sure what to make of their request.

StagStar nosed at the herbs, and tilted his head slightly. "I see. I can understand the hardship that would bring" For a few moments, the large tom sat quietly, considering. a trade could be useful, they could get herbs that struggle in their more wet territory. Glancing at his warriors, he called to willowbee. "Go see if you can find sweetmeadow. I think she'd benefit greatly from a trade, but it is ultimately her choice if she wants to" He said, explaining his stance simply. The experienced leader would not turn down such a bright opportunity. And besides, it would make communication with their neighbors easier.
Facing rosepath, he dipped his head. "I think that this is a good idea, and we just need to work out some details I believe" He murmured.

Elmsong padded over to sit next to Willowbee. "I wonder if we'll be seeing more of these SteppeClan cats. If their territory is so far they don't have a reason to invade ours, probably won't try to hunt in ours either. They could be good allies to have." He whispered to her so that Stagstar and the SteppeClan cats couldn't hear. "What do you think?" he asked her. Mother Dark

"I don't know wjat to think. They do seem to respect our borders and if they hsve their own territory they should be fine to stay in theirs." Willowbee said.

Willowbee went off to find Sweetmeadow. She trotted off as quickly as possible when she heard Stagstar. She made it back to camp before Sweetmeadow had left. "The medicine cat from Steppeclan would like to trade herbs with you. If you come with me I can show you where her patrol is with Stagstar." She said.

StagStar chuckled at his friends enthusiasm and dipped his head. "Yes indeed. Come, we can discuss this back at camp" Getting to his paws, he examined his group, and indicating HeavyHeart and WillowBee, he spoke again. "Can you guys continue on and do something hunting? " He asked them.

Frostwhisper dipped her head in thanks to Stagstar for inviting them in, then looked to the leader. "You met Brightstar last time our Clans had contact with each other. That was 3 moons ago, and Brightstar has passed to StarClan. Our new leader Maplestar would like to meet you before we arrange a gathering place between our Clans." she said.
