Cats are disappearing.
You are the medicine cat of ShadowClan, long after the events of TBC.
It isn't just your Clan either, cats from other Clans are disappearing as well. One thing you've noticed is that they all seem to have a red mark on their right paw the day before they disappear.
Last night, you received an omen from StarClan. "A shadow of red will bring blood to the Clans in the night, if no one can see beyond the shadows."
You see a list of suspects.
- A loner named Red that frequents the Clans. He's friendly to all the Clans but seems to carry an air of mystery. - A red she-cat and tom in your Clan named Softbreeze and Willowclaw, respectively. They are very outgoing and kind to all the warriors in the Clan, but sometimes talk among themselves quietly. - The ThunderClan leader, Thornstar, who is a red tabby. He is a hostile leader who tries to bully the other Clans into letting him have his way. His Clanmates insist he has a good heart.
Who will you investigate first? Keep in mind this will be like a pick-your-path story, where your actions have consequences. It's sort of like a little game, so y'all lemme know if that's allowed in this section of the forums.

Thornstar's shady af. But Red has access to all the Clans. Softbreeze and Willowclaw are most likely just lovebirds.
I'd say Red.

My first instinct would be Red, since he's a stranger and there's more of a reason to be suspicious of him. The cats that go missing are also important. If they've all spoken or acted against Thornstar I'd be more interested in him.

Softbreeze and Willowclaw, it seems like they could be plotting something, with how they're always talking amongst themselves.

Red. Softbreeze and Willowpelt could be just talking about themselves, and I honestly doubt Thornstar would do it.

If I was a medicine cat I would think about it and decide to go seek out Red to discuss things with him. I would talk to him in a friendly way and then ask him if he has noticed anything strange without being too direct. That would be my first course of action, and depending on whether he says or does something suspicious I would do stuff based from that.

Softbreeze and Willowclaw. I feel like Red may be a red herring (if that makes any sense), he's the obvious one since his name is Red and he's a bit shady. Thornstar's just a mean leader who thinks he's doing what's right for his Clan. However, Softbreeze and Willowclaw may be plotting something and using their good reputation amongst ShadowClan to hide their big evil crimes. Their shadows may be the personality they put on, and nobody suspects they're the culprits because they're so nice and outgoing.

Softbreeze and Willowclaw. Cats are disappearing. Does this mean the cat doing this has eyes inside their camp? Possibly so, and these two would know their Clan better than anything. They would know the weaknesses and strengths. That's why I'd investigate them first.

I was thinking about this more and wanted to expand on my thoughts, but I would need to know more about the disappearing cats themselves and these marks to come to a proper conclusion. Red is still most likely, if anyone's a red herring (whEEZe), it's Thornstar. Since he's a disliked bully and one would think he's a prime suspect. There is also the fact that his Clanmates say he was good which could be seen as illicit, but I think most cats would defend their leader unless they're doing some really heinous things or are extremely milquetoast, if that makes sense. I think his bark is worse than his bite. He's the second most likely. Softbreeze and Willowclaw...yea no. I think they're just nice cats. Just because they're actually kind ShadowClanners doesn't mean they're sus hehe. Like I said I think they're mates or something, in the books they always have them talking quietly before BAM kits. Since cats from all Clans (?) are disappearing, I'm guessing they would need to lure away cats to make them disappear, they're not just Thanos snapping them. Meaning they would have to go into foreign territory, where they're likely to be scented instantly. We know how the characters are about their borders. They're the least likely option. Red makes the most sense. He's mysterious, he's frequently visiting not just ShadowClan but I'm guessing all of the groups. He could find hiding places and remote locations easily since he would know about the territories while the other two options would be unfamiliar with the other Clans' I would think. If he's found on Clan land he can just lie and say he's visiting, since he's regarded as friendly. I would think that cats wouldn't become aggro'd like for Soft and Willow upon noticing him. Red could convince others to join his cult, kill them, or whatever it is that he's doing easier than the other two options. I hope I'm not assuming too much about the scenario. Btw I am addicted to these threads, keep them coming

Pt. 2 will be up sometime tomorrow! I kind of just made up this storyline and then went with it, so I'll have to think about the consequences of each decision, since every decision will make a change in the story, and you can end up with a good or bad ending.

Red, most likely. I'd still keep an eye on Softbreeze and Willowclaw, but not as much. Thornstar is a bully, but what would he have to gain from causing trouble within his own Clan? So yeah, I'm going with Red.

I want to say Red but prophecy makes it sound like much more related to ShadowClan so I'd say Softbreeze and Willowclaw (who don't sound like ShadowClan cats). By being suspicious of them, I don't mean I'll investigate them, it would warn them and I'll disappear next. Instead, I would try to talk to Red (not my main suspect) about it and tell him my fake concerns about Thornstar. if Thornstar suddenly has more clues suggesting it's him, it's probably Red who made the clues in order to convince me I'm right.
In addition to being suspicious of them and talking with Red, I would also make the cats who have the red sign sleep squashed in between cats who don't have the sign, might even sleep on top of them, and get an additional guard to guard the warriors' den where all the marked cats would also be.
TL;DR I think it's Soft and Willow, definitely not Thorn, but I'm not going to investigate them, instead I'll investigate Red by giving him the "red herring" of Thornstar.

I think I would watch all of them. It is easier to watch the clan cats than Red and also I would have easy access to Torn doing my med cat duties. I would watch him very closely because of TigerClaw. The other two I would keep an eye on them. With Red I would ask the other med cats at the half moon meeting if they know anything about him. I need more info but I think I would watch Thorn closer because he could do more damage than the other three.

My brain is far too chaotic for choose-your-own-adventure books
Like seriously. Literally my course of action before any omens or whatever would be this: Notice a red mark on someone's paw. Immediately go full Big Brother mode and lock them in a secured den with five guards at all times, preferably including me. Watch them like a ****ing hawk.
Do they still disappear? Do they stay in the den but go insane? Are they totally okay with this and just waiting for the mark to go away? I need SCIENCE.
But since that's nOt onE Of tHe OPtIonS, I'll go with Red. I am a Clan cat after all, and that means I'm instantly distrustful of outsiders, lol.
Also, how am I seeing the list of suspects? Did it also come from StarClan like Shadowsight's list of Codebreakers (ish-- that wasn't technically StarClan), or are these just cats that my character is already suspicious of, and you're giving me this information as GM?
If this is GM Fourth Wall Breaking, then I'm going with Red.
If it was a list from StarClan, I'm sus of StarClan, lol, and I'm predicting one of these cats will actually be the one to disappear next rather than being the perp. So I'll do as above and request Willowclaw and Softbreeze be guarded at all times.
