I don't think Longtail deserved it. Dustpelt would've made a good deputy, so either him or Graystripe. I can understand why Graystripe isn't a popular choice, but he is Firestar's closest friend and eventually proved to be suitable for the role.

I'd say Longtail because he was one of the more experienced warriors left (Mousefur and Frostfur were getting quite old, but I guess so was Whitestorm).

I think Graystripe is a great choice.
He's faithful to the clan, at least after he redeemed himself after the Silverstream thing. He is also a strong warrior, and clear headed.
I think Firestar was at the stage that he needed a supportive deputy. There are different kinds of deputies and with everything that went on, I think the most peaceful option (Graystripe) should have been chosen.
Also, Whitestorm also thinks that Graystripe should have been deputy.

dustpelt wasn't mellow enough and longtail didn't have that authority in him.

Mousefur! She called a Clan meeting in the next series for StarClan's sake! I also might be biased because she's one of my favorite characters...

Mousefur, i don't care if she's old or whatever. She was the best qualified out of the whole Clan. A talented, loyal senior warrior: Whitout any interest in kits, sucessful mentor of two apprentices, and hard work.

Mousefur actually was a really good candidate as well. Might be just because of the name, but just now she reminded me of Russetfur.

I actually didn't mind any of the three options tbh. And Graystripe was a pretty good deputy until he was kidnapped. Imo, Longtail or Dustpelt should have replaced him after, or even Brackenfur, but not Bramblestar.

Longtail wasn't that old. He had been made a warrior just a few days before Rusty/Firepaw came to the forest.
He ultimately retired early because of failing sight.

Either Longtail or Brackenfur. Longtail because he showed great character growth and loyalty. The one thing standing in his way, is the fact that he seems to be more of a follower than a leader.
I usually don't like the idea of a younger cat becoming leader, but I think Brackenfur could have been great. He's a kind, loyal, level-headed guy, but that doesn't mean he isn't afraid to express how he truly feels, he may be nice, but he's no pushover, and he has proven to be very brave.

I'm actually surprised Longtail's winning the poll! The answers I'm seeing seem to be anything but him!

All three cats would have been excellent deputies, imo.

Graystripe. It was Firestar's pick. A lot of times, the best 2nd in command is somebody you feel is most compatible. And it's not the case of yes men stuff either, Graystripe knew when to call Firestar out. Even Whitestorm thought Graystripe was the cat meant to be.

Graystripe was the most logical choice. A deputy should be a cat that the Clan leader trusts. Dustpelt and Longtail, although mellowed out later in Firestar's reign, weren't as close to him as Firestar was with Graystripe.

Graystripe was genuinely a good deputy though, and was capable of leading the clan in Firestar’s absence, even through all the doubts. His SE does a good job of showing his inner thoughts while also showing that he isn’t bad in a leadership position, especially if it’s beside his greatest friend.
