I've seen people on here complaining about the fact that only she-cats have names with words like honey and flower, and that only toms have -claw in their name. Well, say no more! In Graystripe's Vow, there's a tom named Sunflower, and Fang's name used to be Honeysuckle. Both flower and honey used for toms. Not only that, but in Veil of Shadows, Needleclaw received -claw for her warrior name, and her mentor's name is Reedclaw. What do you all think? Are you satisfied with these new names?

I found it funny when Fang was revealed to be Honeysuckle but I wouldn't have mind him having that name from the start (although I would have preferred a usual prefix suffix name with the "Honey" prefix instead of a full plant name like Honeysuckle, just reminded me of the elder's den). Regarding Needleclaw, I'm surprised that there weren't more she-cats with the "claw" suffix, didn't notice it having a tom exclusivity before. I don't like her name but that's because of the Reedclaw --> Needleclaw / Dewspring --> Rootspring thing. Otherwise the name could fit her or Needletail well. Sunflower is a cool name, much better than Sunstrike.

A cat with a gender-neutral name, and "tom" or "she-cat" beside their name is never mentioned in the allegiances, they never take a mate, and gender-neutral pronouns are used to describe them, just to torture everyone.

idk the -flower one never bugged me because like. flowers are associated with being pretty and delicate and kinda fragile, which is why i always thought it was associated for gentle queens and the like. not a sexist thing but just that female cats/mothers are more likely to have that personality than tomcats ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The ONLY prefix (or suffix) I ever saw as being gendered was Flower and -flower. Literally everything else I see as completely gender-neutral.

these flower comments are literally what i was talking about wrt to human perception. these cats are being written through a human lense and thats why people are saying flower is for females. flowers being delicate and pretty is objective. the fact that these cats have personalities like humans makes the association reasonable. i dont think flower is only for females, just only for gentle and lovely ones—and those tend to be female. fernsong is a male example who would fit the suffix well.
