Sakura looked over as Basilwhisker padded over. “That is quite the load of fish there, Basilwhisker.” She began to groom herself, not knowing what else she could do. She was tired; it had been a long day, but she still felt that she do something else. Basilwhisker dropped his fish and nodded. "I couldn't handle sitting down and doing nothing while the clan suffered. So I went and spent some time fishing." He said laying down to start eating his fish.

DuskPelg dipped her head before bounding off to her mates side. "I'll be right back, I just gotta bring the rabbit to wovensight, then we can eat" She purred, licking the toms cheek happily before padding over to collect the rabbit. her tail waved back and forth as she collected the prey, and carefully made her way to the medicine cat den, making sure not to drag the rabbit. She was sure dirt wasn't on the menu tonight.

Basilwhisker shook his head and quietly spoke. "I don't think so. He's on his last life now and it doesn't seem like he is getting any better." He sighed and took another bite of fish. "I think tonight we mourn the loss of two great cats. May starclan be with them both."

Icewhisper glanced at Wovensight and then back at Thymestar. The leader was on his last live now and likely not for much longer. Still, Wovensight couldn't spend the rest of the day out here. She gave a short nod to Nightwhisker and Thymestar and padded over to the warrior. "We should get you to my den now. Do you want me to send Honeypaw, Silverpaw and Shrikepaw away or do you think they won't bother you?" She asked him. Weaselkit had gone back to watching what was going on outside, trying her best to listen to Nightwhisker's announcement to the clan and once he was done she kept watching her clanmates as best as she could from inside the nursery. Behind her Foxkit got up from his nest and padded over to his mother and Wolfkit, settling down between the two. Adderheart decided she should hunt too. The clan still needed food and she wanted to get away for a bit. But first she took a moment to offer some words of gratitude and sympathy to Thymestar. Then she dipped her head to Nightwhisker, hoping that he wouldn't stop her from heading out, and made her way towards the camp's entrance.
Darkclaw was still sitting near the warriors den, thinking about the fox. If more cats had joined Thymestar's patrol then maybe there wouldn't have been any losses. Maybe they could have scared the fox off. Or, he thought, we would have even more cats to mourn now. With a sigh he climbed to his paws and padded over to the cats near Thymestar and Elmsong. He certainly wasn't looking forward to tonight.
Rainsong watched his clanmates for a while, then he slowly walked over to Nightwhisker and Thymestar. He settled down beside the leader and spoke quietly, not looking at anyone but his words clearly directed at Thymestar. "You've led us well, you know. So what's there to regret? I don't know what losing your life feels like of course. There's probably still so much you want to do." Rainsong paused for a moment and looked at Thymestar. "That fox would have killed Asterpaw if it weren't for you, Elmsong and Wovensight and no cat wants to see you blaming yourself for Elmsong's death. You can tell him how sorry you are if you're really joining StarClan today but I'm sure he doesn't hold anything against you." Once more he stayed silent for a few moments. Then he briefly touched his nose to Thymestar's shoulder. "It's still scary, isn't it?" he whispered, his usually calm expression suddenly sad and sympathetic. "It's alright, Thymestar. We're all here with you."

Wovensight was finally feeling better, the pounding in his head receded as he stood and looked around, taking in the scene around him and sad gaze and moving toward Nightwhisker. "I believe we should send out a patrol to check for any other foxes. The one we found was a few so she could have a mate or pups close by."

Basilwhisker nodded and settled down a little better and finished up his fish. He thought of what it must be like to be so unattached to the clan in a thyme of such great sorrow.
Thymestar opened his eyes and looked at Rainsong. His breathing still shallow. He said nothing but leaned forward and touched noses with the warrior. He then laayed his head back down and went to sleep. His final life was hanging in there for a little bit as the herbs soothed his pain.

Yarrowfur tucked himself into the foliage between the dens into the shade and rolled onto his back while he waited, the magpie still laying close to his ear waiting to be eaten. He stared towards the medicine den squinting at it after Duskpelt had carried the rabbit inside.

DuskPelt entered the medicine cat den, and, seeing the group of apprentices sharing prey, she padded over to an empty patch of moss and set the rabbit down. "make sure that IceWhisper knows that this is for the injured. its important that those healing keep their strength up" she meowed to the group, before padding out of the den. she cast a sympathic glance at the injured apprentice in the center of the group, dipping her head in gratitude. "you fought bravely" she murmured, before ducking out of the den and bounding back to where YarrowFur lay, a purr erupting from her throat as she got close. "thanks for waiting for me" she meowed, licking the toms cheek happily.

"Of course. There wasn't much else I could do." Yarrowfur purred, not moving to get up but watching and expecting her to take the first bite of the black and white bird. He tucked his paws to his chest, still laying on his back and gazing up at the sky above camp. "Not long now until the vigil." he muttered with a yawn, pointing with his nose up to where the sky turned to orange from where the sun hung low over the horizon. LightBringer

"You could've been greedy" DuskPelt tessed, flicking her tail at his nose before crouching and taking a bite of their prey, before nudging the magpie forward. while she normally. disliked feathers, she always loved magpies, and it seemed YarrowFur had taken note. "I imagine some of us may have to wake for the morning patrol still" She replied, not enjoying the thought of patrolling on no sleep.

"Maybe some cats will be assigned to sleep through half the vigil before dawn patrol." Yarrowfur said, rolled onto his stomach and lifted his head while blinking a few times at the magpie. He pulled some feathers free before taking bites from the wing. "If everything goes as you plan you'll need more food than I will in the future." he teased softly.

DuskPelt nodded in agreement, watching the camp as cats milled around. The fluffy she cat was so engrossed in thought, she almost missed her mates comment, and she felt herself flush under her pelt as she flicked her tail across his mouth. "Oh hush! If you had your way I'd be constantly kit heavy " She teased back, taking another few bites out of the magpie Her heart sang despite her teasing at the thought of kits. It was something she'd always wanted, but it hadnt even been an option till now.

"More like if you had your way you'd be constantly kit heavy," Yarrowfur chuckled, "I'm in no rush but as long as you want them..." then he glanced around camp feeling guilty to be in such a bright mood while cats were still grieving. His face went sombre for a moment and all but forgot about the magpie. Things are unpredictable right now, but then so are things far in the future. When his mind returned to the present he brushed his tail lightly across her flank and bit into the magpie again.

Noticing his glance around, DuskPelt frowned, knowing that the rest of her clan was suffering. She watched the going ons again, and sighed. "The clan could use some happier news" She admitted, knowing that nothing was promised. The clan had suffered a great loss today, and she hoped starclan would balance the sorrow out with some happy news soon.

"It could." Yarrowfur agreed with a nod of his head. He laid on his side again, pushing away the rest of the magpie for her. He stared again across camp at the entrance to the medicine den. He laid still but was still debating between staying awake or taking a short nap before the vigil, only the tip of his tail flicked worriedly. "It's still only been one day, it feels like it's been a quarter-moon since Thymestar's patrol left."

"i feel like the bad times always seem to last the longest dont they." DuskPelt replied with a heavy sigh. the sky was beginning to be taken over by orange, as the sun continued its journey across the sky and towards the horizon. it would start to be dark soon, and she wondered in they would be sitting vigil for ThymeStar tonight as well. he hadnt really moved, and from what she had seen, she was doubtful the tom would pull through the night. so much damage had been done, it didnt look like starclan could fix it.

Rainsong managed a small smile when Thymestar looked at him. He hoped that he and the others had given their leader some comfort. When Thymestar went to sleep Rainsong stayed close by, only moving aside a little to give room to anyone who still wanted to say something to the leader.
Icewhisper listened closely when Wovensight spoke to Nightwhisker, narrowing her eyes. He was right, there was a chance that the fox had a mate or cubs. To the deputy she meowed "The clan should know sooner rather than later but it's your choice. If you're sending out the patrol today I would request that you don't send Wovensight just yet. I'd like to keep an eye on him for now." She glanced at the warrior as she said this, looking apologetic. "I think you can go back to your warrior duties soon enough though." Then she checked on Thymestar again, in case he needed more herbs to sooth is pain. It seemed like they were working well enough though. She knew that he could lose his last life any second now and she hoped that those among her clanmates who had talked to him had managed to ease his guilt a little. In the few moments he still had left Icewhisper leaned forward, meowing a quiet "Don't forget to watch over our clan. I hope Nightwhisker will see you when he's going to receive his nine lives. He has a lot to live up to so your guidance will be greatly appreciated."

Thymestar shivered as though he were cold and opened his eyes. He looked up at Icewhisper and then laid his head down and whispered "I love you all" then shivered one last time as his final life left his body. He immediately lost all sense of pain and felt a calm come over himself as his spirit left his body and floated up to Starpelt.
Turtlepool had been walking toward Thymestar when she heard him whisper and leave the world behind. She whimpered and then cried out as her friend of many moons and leader for her almost her whole life passed before her eyes. She ran up and buried her nose into his pelt that was already growing cold. "You were the best" she sobbed.
Basilwhisker watched as Sakura ran out of camp and almost ran after her but then stopped when he heard Turtlepool cry out. He bowed his head in grief and momentarily forgot his new friend.
Frostfeather padded towards her brother and layed down next to him their fur brushing. She drew comfort from being so close to him. Her eyes settled on her dead leader and she began to cry lightly.
Snowdapple drew the kits to her with her tail in her sleep. Though Wishkit was peaking from behind it trying to figure out what was going on. There were sounds of sorrow throughout the camp and everything was hushed.

Without anything more to say, Yarrowfur just nuzzled his face into Duskpelt's thick fur, giving her shoulder a few grooming licks. When Turtlepool cried out, Yarrowfur's pelt prickled and he jerked his head up to look across camp.

Adderheart had barely reached the camp's entrance when she heard Turtlepool's cry. she stopped for a moment and then she slowly padded back to her clanmates. While Thymestar's death didn't change the fact that the clan needed more prey it didn't feel right to just go hunting right now. If Nightwhisker decided to send out a hunting patrol anyway she would volunteer for it though. Darkclaw nodded to Adderheart and moved aside a little so she could sit down next to him. He wished he hadn't listened to Sakura when she wanted to bury the fox. Not that it would have changed anything but now it felt strange, showing respect to a fox that had killed two of his clanmates and crippled an apprentice. Rainsong stepped back a little, still close enough to be near Thymestar but a respectful distance regardless. He didn't want to get in the way of those who had been closest to Thymestar and Elmsong after all. Silverpaw shot a glance towards the cats outside and sighed to himself. He wondered if Asterpaw, too, had figured out what was going on and hoped that he wouldn't blame himself even further. Weaselkit went back to her siblings and slightly leaned against Ferrettail. The kit was disappointed that she couldn't quiet find out what was happening outside but she could certainly feel that something bad had happened. Foxkit and Wolfkit looked like they felt the same way, the former seeking comfort by burying his nose in their mother's fur. Wolfkit looked up at Ferrettail, wondering if she and Snowdapple were going to sit vigil for Thymestar, but didn't ask. It didn't feel right to break the silence right now. Icewhisper bowed her head to Thymestar and took a step back to stand beside Nightwhisker. "You should address the clan," she meowed quietly. "They can clearly tell that Thymestar has lost his last life but I think you should let them know that we're going to hold the vigil for him and Elmsong tonight." Heronflight had watched from outside the elders den for a while. When she heard Turtlepool cry out though she slowly made her way over to Thymestar again and settled down beside her, sharing the grief she felt for their friend and leader.

Sakura lifted her head as wind streamed into her den. She felt something bad had happened at camp, but she was t sure if she was ready to go back, if ever would be ready. But deep down, the she-cat knew it was better to go back, or even just into the territory. Sakura sighed, stood up and walked slowly out of her den. Then, she lopped back to Thymeclan territory, not stopping until she closed in on the camp. Hesitating, she peered through the camp entrance, her eyes locking on Thymestar’ body. “Rest well,” she whispered before turning and leaping into a nearby maple. There, she settled down in one of the nooks and rested her head on her paws, staring out over the camp as they grieved.

Nightwhisker's eyes clouded with grief and he forced himself to keep a calm composure, his body rigid and stiff as he stood up and addressed the clan, nodding towards Icewhisper. He could see that most of them were aware of what was going on but he needed to address them anyway. "Thymestar, our great leader, has joined our warrior ancestors in Starclan. He will be remembered for many seasons as our greatest leader yet.Tonight we will sit vigil and honor him, along with Elmsong, who died protecting his clanmates." He paused for a moment, allowing his words to sink in, before continuing. "I would like to take out a patrol to scout the territory, to ensure that there are no other foxes in the area. If you would like to volunteer, please step forward, but I ask that if you were injured in the earlier attack to stay in camp and rest."
Palepaw's ears pricked forward as he heard Nightwhisker's mention of a patrol. He wanted to join, but his mentor was injured and would be staying in camp, so he would likely stay behind as well.
Honeypaw shifted her paws from where she sat watching the cats outside the medicine cat den, craning her neck to look towards Turtlepool as she cried out. Thymestar must have just passed... She thought, sadness in her expression.

DuskPelt, after hearing the news, glanced at her mate. "Do you want to go? " She asked. The warrior had dragged him out hunting already, and she would leave this choice up to the tom. Weariness dragged at her paws regardless, and she knew she would sleep well when she finally got the chance to rest.
