Food Wars just lost sight of what made it so good in arc 1. The whole club that made Food Wars interesting is pushed aside in favor of just focusing on 3 characters that are already fully developed. The show would have functioned better if the protagonist wasn't guaranteed to win every encounter in BLUE, or if he would actually lose something if he lost a shokugeki. The first arc was so good because it had high stakes and it felt like everyone was talking down to the protagonist, and while he was skilled, he still had a long way to go.

If I could summarize the problem in a statement, he reached the top too quickly and now it's just about poking people off the hill that they can't actually reach.
