MARBLEWASP He arrived at the Gathering Falls looking like the quintessential Waspclan cat. His glossy pelt glinted in the moonlight, muscles rippling under his pelt. His ears were pricked forward attentively, but his gaze was cast forward. He did not greet any of the other cats as he leaped easily over the crossing stones and up the stony ledge beside the falls where he eased into a languid position.
The rest of the clan followed in uniform order. Waspclan had to cross the stream to get to the large, flat rocks on which the clans congregated. Some of them jumped from stone to stone and others simply swam. It was a matter of preference. Violetpaw, the leader's daughter, chose to swim. She emerged on the flat rock dripping from the neck down as she joined the rest of her clanmates. Like her father, she did not have a particularly friendly aura. She stuck close to the other Waspclan cats and set about licking her pelt as she waiting for the gathering to begin. The more extroverted among them exchanged pleasantries. Redsun, a warrior, cocked his chin at the sight of some Beetleclan warriors. He didn't know them particularly well, but he was a sociable cat. The gesture, however unremarkable on the surface, could also be interpreted as a form of mockery.
As the four clans gathered, the bright round moon glided over the hilltops. In a bed of glinting white stars, it felt like the proxy for Starclan. It reminded Violetpaw of the face, stoic but powerful. She remembered that they were after all in a sacred place, for behind the roaring waterfall were the Sacred pools. She pictured Starclan listening in as she waited for the gathering to start.

Cliffspider Cliffspider was very excited. He knew the other leaders wouldn't quite agree with his silly attitude, but he couldn't help it. He just loved gatherings! He signaled for his clan to stop. He was helping to carry the architectural masterpiece. Then, after figuring that they had waited long enough for dramatic tension, he signaled to start. As soon he entered, he felt a wave of peace wash over him. He wan't sure if anyone else felt this, but he did. He always did. He felt like the waterfall contained the spirits, all whispering to him at once, causing it to sound like a great roar. The feeling of peace mostly went away, and he was mostly back to his usual self, just a bit calmer. The other leaders were generally a lot angrier at the other clans. In fact, most cats were. While Cliffspider didn't quite like the other clans, he wasn't unfriendly. This was just who he was. He saw Marblewasp and walked over. He said, "Hello, Marblewasp." He sounded very excited and kitlike, and yet calmer than he usually is, outside of this sacred place. "Doesn't this place just have a... calming aura?", he meowed, trying to start a conversation.

GRAYMOTH
Graymothโs paws seemed to float over the landscape as she led MothClan to the Gathering Falls. With smooth, practiced motions she leapt across the little stream that the Gathering Falls fed, and then padded onto the stony ledge that sat beside the falls. Marblewasp and Cliffspider, WaspClanโs and SpiderClanโs leaders respectively, were already there. Behind Graymoth followed her clan; closest to her was her brother, Talonheart, who immediately trotted off to greet the other members of the clan. Amongst the other cats, Graymoth saw her other brother, Riverwind. She felt a pang of sorrow in her chest. Riverwind was no longer in her Clan โ instead, heโd left MothClan to join BeetleClan, and she hadnโt spoken to him outside the Gathering since. Sheโd been made a warrior, and then deputy, and finally leader, and the two cats who should have been at her side โ her brothers, her family โ had numbered only one. Sheโd tried to forgive Riverwind over the years, but true forgiveness had eluded her. She was still angry, still hurt. Talonheartโs emotions towards the situation were far less volatile; he still conversed with his brother every gathering, although it wasnโt unusual for Graymoth to avoid Riverwind.
She watched as Talonheart wove through the crowd to reach Riverwind; she couldnโt hear what they said, but she watched their greeting. Again, pain swelled in her chest, but she swallowed it back and instead turned to peer at the moon for a moment. It was a full-moon, and the celestial orb was particularly bright on this night, as if StarClan was letting the Clans know their ancestors were watching. The rest of the MothClan cats trickled into the gathering place and mingled with the other Clans, although there was always a distinct line of separation between the Clans. It made Graymoth a bit sad โ that not even on the night of the Gathering could the Clans let go of their present hatreds and frustrations and remember that once, long ago, they were all one Clan. United. She shook of her melancholy and turned towards her fellow Clan leaders, dipping her head in greeting. โFair winds,โ she said simply. She sat down and wrapped her tail around her paws.

Cliffspider "Ah! Hello, Graymoth!", greeted Cliffspider, glad that he was already interacting at least some. He would have felt disappointing if he hadn't been able to speak to anyone within the first couple of minutes. "So... how's the prey?", he asked, once again trying to start a conversation. He expected at least Marblewasp to reply with something along the lines of, "You'll find out during the gathering.". He let another wave of calm to just pass over him for a moment, and he actually looked a lot more relaxed as it did. His tail stopped twitching for a moment, he stopped looking like he was restraining himself from playfighting with one of the other leaders, and a lot of the excitement left his eyes. He was like that for half a second before returning to his usual self.

Birchpaw feel in line beside his mentor, Rownspark as Mothclan arrived to the Gathering Falls where the four clans gathered in peace under a full moon. He felt his pelt twitch with excitement wanting to speak with another cat from a different clan, he found the gathering fun especially when he got the chance to talk with an apprentice even listening to some elders at the gathering excited him. As Mothclan joined the other clans, Birchpaw broke away from his clanmates looking for someone to speak with and found himself among Waspclan and noticed the cats licking their pelts dry from swimming to the large flat rocks, he noticed Violetpaw and padded over to the apprentice flicking his tail to catch her attention. "Hello." He mewed.
Mottleblaze pushed his way through the gathering clans holding his head up with pride as settled down to get a good view of the leaders and the other clans. Mottleblaze respected the tradition of the clans meeting in peace under a full moon, it was for a time for the clans to check in with each other but Mottleblaze always felt a tingle of worry during the meeting, if any the clans were at war with each attacking during a gathering under the cover of darkness would work well. But Mottleblaze felt no one that mouse brain would do such a thing even if the clans didn't get completely at peace with each other, for now he would silently watched the clans talk amongst themselves and hear the news the other leaders had to share.
Sagebranch watched as her brother, Birchpaw go over to an apprentice from Waspclan and let out a sigh, gathering under the waterfall was calm and peace but Sagebranch felt a little nervous sitting among so many cats, some cats were friendly of to speak with others from different clans and some were not. Sagebranch glanced around a little bit before sitting down among a few other Mothclan cats and Beetleclan, if someone wanted to speak with her then she would hold a conversion the best she could but going up to another cat and speaking with them randomly didn't sit well with her yet.

Echopaw (SpiderClan) The medicine cat apprentice absolutely loved the Gathering Falls. She thought it was beautiful and she loved the atmosphere the sacred place held - the tradition of clans coming together in peace to share stories and be friendly was heartwarming... At least she thought it should be. She always felt the clans were all too on edge considering what the night is supposed to represent. Couldn't everyone stop hating each other for one night? Oh well, it wasn't going to stop her from mingling with everyone. "Nightflower, I'm going to go talk to some of the other clans!" She meowed and hurried away with a bounce in her step, unable to contain her excitement anymore. She weaved her way through groups of cats, letting her soft multi-colored fur brush lightly against a few of them with gentle purrs of greeting. She hoped they wouldn't mind. As a medicine cat she was meant to be more welcoming towards her rivaling clans, right? Feathershine (WaspCLan) Ever since his first gathering as an apprentice Feathershine loved attending them. Not so much to hear the news happening among the other clans, but because it gave him a chance to show off just how great WaspClan was and just how great he was, being one of their greatest warriors of course. As such a young warrior, he held a lot of pride. Even his entry had to be grand, as he leaped across the crossing stones to the other side of the river with a flip between each one, showing off the skills of his clan. "Good evening, everyone!" He meowed once he joined the cats on the other side, a smug grin across his jaw and his green eye shining. Palewing (BeetleClan) Palewing padded alongside the group of BeetleClan cats, walking with his head high and tail slightly raised. He was simply proud to represent his clan, as should any BeetleClan cat, and he wanted to portray a sense of purpose and confidence to the others at the gathering. Once they all began to settle and mingle with the other clans, the ginger and white tom sat near his clan mates and waited for the leaders to begin. He didn't approach anyone initially, though he was respectful and responded in a polite manner when he was greeted of course. He noticed Redsun looking in their direction with a rather questionable expression and Palewing's ears perked towards him, whiskers twitching slightly. "Redsun." He meowed a simple greeting. As far as he knew, Redsun was a popular and likable warrior, but he was never particularly fond of the WaspClan cat. He seemed like one to stray from the rules too often. โโะพฯ Minnowshade (MothClan) Silently following Graymoth to join the other clans at the Gathering Falls, Minnowshade stayed with her group and looked around, watching the others. Most of the cats had begun to mingle with each other, sharing how they were and what was happening in their clan. It looked like most of the MothClan cats were keeping to themselves, only engaging when someone approached them, and still keeping their answers short. Minnowshade was content with doing that as well, as gatherings always made her a little uncomfortable. Why was it needed to have such large numbers of cats meet each other every moon? If news needed to be shared surely it could be accomplished by having only the leaders or even the deputies meet and discuss what was needed to be said. Whiskers twitching, she found a seat beside Sagebranch. "Gatherings really display how reserved MothClan is compared to the others." She commented quietly to her clanmate. Taiyou

Burrpaw (MothClan) // Gathering Falls // with Echopaw
Burrpaw loved the Gatherings. He looked forward to it every moon (granted, he'd only been three other times), looked forward to meeting the cats from the other Clans and getting to know them better. It had always interested him, how different and unique each Clan was. He knew MothClan was often considered mysterious and unpredictable, but Burrpaw could never contain himself in the way he was expected to. Why did he have to act so mysterious around the other Clans? Why not talk with the other apprentices and get to know them instead, maybe even become friends with them?
But even beyond the excitement of the Gathering, there was something else Burrpaw was anxious about - seeing his father, Shadestalker. Every Gathering, Burrpaw searched him out, but he often only caught a glimpse of his father's black pelt which was so similar to his own. Perhaps this time I'll be able to speak with him! Burrpaw thought excitedly.
But all this wondering had kept Burrpaw from watching where he was going as he wandered through the crowd of cats, ducking under warriors and swerving to avoid any stray bushes. Just as he came around a group of BeetleClan cats, Burrpaw collided with something soft but sturdy. "Oh!" he yelped, shaking his head and blinking until he could clear his eyesight. In front of him was a dilute calico she-cat, the one he'd walked right into. She was rather pretty, with clear yellow-green eyes. He shook his head, realizing he'd been staring, and averted his gaze to the ground. "So sorry, didn't mean to run into you!" he mewed in apology, pawing the ground nervously. Then he tipped his head, recognizing the scent of the mountains in her fur. "You're from SpiderClan, right? Echopaw, the medicine cat apprentice?" Without waiting for her answer, he barreled on nervously, hoping to create a good impression and perhaps make a friend. "I'm Burrpaw! From MothClan. Nice to meet you!"

Cinderflame of Beetleclan She held her chin high. She liked others to think that she hated the other clans, when in reality she didn't really quite like them. She told Spookypaw very quietly, as to not show any weakness, "It's okay if you're nervous. That's understandable. Everybody is their first time." Truthfully, a gathering was the first time she pretended to be better than everyone else. She liked the other clans being intimidated by her courage, and letting him know Beetleclan is the best. She just liked the feeling, and so now does it everywhere. "Go ahead, meet some cats from other clans. Or talk to some from our own.", she encouraged. Shadestalker of Waspclan Calls to Burrpaw // @fallownose "Burrpaw! Burrpaw!", he called out searching his endless search through the crowd. He looked for a black pelt, but there were so many. He only heard about Burrpaw, during gatherings, and had never actually met him. "Burrpaw!", he stopped to ask a tortoiseshell she-cat from Beetleclan, right next to a small black tom, if she'd seen Burrpaw. She said no, holding her chin high. "Burrpaw?", he cried out again, beginning to lose hope. He decided to search through Mothclan, still calling, before reaching Spiderclan. Cliffspider Cliffspider was getting a bit bored among the leaders. They take this whole rivalry thing way too far, he thought. So he turned around as soon as he heard a crash and then some talking. He saw under the moonlight a young black tom talking to Echopaw. He gracefully darted over, excited to see someone however young who was willing to talk. He was sure that he looked intimidating, being a leader and all. He said, rather loudly from excitement, "Hello. I'm Cliffspider. What's your name?" He didn't care what age the tom was, Cliffspider just wanted someone to have a friendly conversation with before he had to officially start the gathering.

(( same here, although my first week of classes will all be online then they will transition into a hybrid of online and on-campus ))
Echopaw (SpiderClan) "Oops!" Echopaw jumped back a bit, startled as something collided into her. She blinked, her yellow-green eyes meeting the green gaze of a small black cat. An apprentice probably, but possibly a newly-named warrior? And judging by the scent that wafted over her, she made the assumption that he was from MothClan. After a moment of awkward staring at each other, he spoke. "Oh, it's fine! It was my fault too." She laughed it off even though it was mostly his fault, giving him a friendly smile to show she wasn't upset about being bumped into. As he continued talking, she felt a wave of pride when he knew who she was. That must mean she was well-known as a medicine cat already!
"Yep, that's me!" She meowed, excitement clear in her voice and upon her expression. He continued, introducing himself, which confirmed that he was an apprentice and that he was from MothClan. "Nice to meet you, Burrpaw." She purred.
Before the conversation could progress, she heard heavy footsteps bounding over to them and Cliffspider's scent filled her nose. She turned her head to see him heading towards the apprentices and smiled up at her leader as he joined them, purring and pressing her side affectionately into his. "Hey!" She greeted him, deciding to get more comfortable as she tucked her paws under her chest and curled her tail around her body. @fallownose Brokenstar

Sagebranch sat up straight shuffling on her paws to giving Minnowshade more to sat down beside. She lifted her head watching other cats from different clans talk and grunted at Minnowshade's comment. "Yeah, it does. Through others cats from the clans don't seem so nice to talk with." She pointed her tail to a few Beetleclan and Waspclan cats sitting not far and dropped her voice to a whisper. "Especially anyone from those two clans. They must have burrs in their fur or something, I thought we sat here every full moon in peace. Through Spiderclan cats don't seem so bad to talk with maybe next time we should sit near them." renaissance

Burrpaw (MothClan) // Gathering Falls // with Echopaw and Cliffspider
Burrpaw let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding as Echopaw greeted him warmly. He had been worried she'd be angry at him for running into her, but she didn't seem too ruffled.
He twitched an ear, hearing someone call his name in the distance. Burrpaw glanced around, looking for the source, but only saw a writhing crowd of cats on all sides. Perhaps he'd imagined it? But before he could ask Echopaw if she'd heard the same thing, a tall warrior was suddenly beside them. But not just any warrior - a jolt of anxiety rushed through Burrpaw as he realized that Cliffspider, the leader of SpiderClan, was standing less than a tail-length away. Burrpaw stiffened, wondering if he ought to leave the conversation. Even Graymoth intimidated him sometimes - and she was his own Clan leader! What if I accidentally say the wrong thing? Burrpaw fretted, twitching his tail nervously. What if I give away MothClan secrets? Do I even know any MothClan secrets? Echopaw seemed so casual around Cliffspider, as if he wasn't the most important cat in her Clan, given nine lives by StarClan themselves! Should I act the same way? Burrpaw wondered. What am I supposed to say to a Clan leader? Will he dislike me because I'm born of two rival Clans, not just one?
And then, of course, the situation got worse as Cliffspider directly addressed him. "Burrpaw," he blurted nervously, raising his voice so he could be heard above the crowd, and then wondering if he'd spoken too loudly. By all the stars, could this get any worse?

Cliffspider "Nice to meet you, Burrpaw!", he purred. "To be honest, Burrpaw, I was bored among the other leaders!", he meowed happily to Burrpaw, hoping to break the tension. "And hi there, Echopaw." His very long tail was waving everywhere with excitement. He just loved gatherings. Shadestalker "Burrpaw! Burrpaw!", he called, beginning to lose hope. He made his way towards Cliffspider, though not intending to talk with him. It was just his way of setting a goal for himself. "Burrpaw? Burrpaw!" He was yowling as loud as he could, hoping that maybe, just maybe, as he got closer to Cliffspider, that Burrpaw might just hear him.

MARBLEWASP It was no secret that Marblewasp felt no loyalty to any other clan. He was often rather cold to opposing cats, and he felt no remorse in gloating about and aggrandizing Waspclan at every opportunity. Therefore it was not out of character when he rolled his eyes at the pleasantries shared between Graymoth and Cliffspider. We've been to war, was what his body language replied. But he made no snide remarks. Instead, he allowed the other leaders to catch up, and he bit his tongue. As petty as it was, he would not reveal anything to them that was not a part of the grand image that Waspclan portrayed.
Once the whispers between cats had quieted down, he was quick to take control of the Gathering.
"Greetings, fine cats!" he meowed over the booming sound of the falls. "What a pleasure it is for you to see us tonight," he began. He eyed his own clan, sharing knowing looks with the most trusted of his warriors.
"I will begin with an update on Waspclan. Thankfully our summer has been largely positive. No severe sickness or injury, though my pride was wounded a few days ago when Redsun brought home the biggest fish I've ever seen!" Marblewasp joked. He was more charming on the stage than in one-on-one conversation. "One exciting bit of news is that Houndstep and Craneleap are expecting kits. So in another year or so we will have a few more strong warriors among us, Starclan willing."
Then he waved his tail in a grand, gentlemanly gesture to set the stage for the next leader to speak.VIOLETPAW She was perfectly content not to draw attention. She sat behind her clanmates, tail wrapped around her paws, as she sheepishly dried her pelt. It was embarrassing to be twelve moons old at the gathering and not be announced as a warrior. She was ashamed of still being an apprentice, especially having grown up in the shadow of her father. She dreamt of Marblewasp calling out her new name for all the cats to hear, so they would know that she was truly his daughter. But he seemed intent on delaying her satisfaction. Though their argument from earlier had blown over, she could not help the pang of anger that rushed through her as her father made his announcement and there was no mention of herself or her sister.
She was so distracted, in fact, that she hardly noticed when someone sat beside her.
"Hello." The voice was unfamiliar, and it gave her a small start. She flinched, and her head whipped over to see who had spoken to her. She recognized him as belonging to Mothclan. Birchpaw, was it?
"Hi." she responded shortly, and then she looked away, her gaze cast down. She was her father's daughter in many ways. She was proud and ambitious. But, unlike Marblewasp, she was not theatrical. Her emotions were close to the surface. And in this instance, she could not hide the annoyance and the shame that radiated from her very being.

Cliffspider "Well, looks like I gotta go.", meowed Cliffspider to Burrpaw and Echopaw. He stood up and walked until he was next to Marblewasp. He stood up completely straight as he let the wave of peace pass over him again and made it stay. He still showed to be very, very excited. "There's not much news for Spiderclan.", he called out, excitement ringing in his voice. "We have plenty of prey, no sign of the other clans stealing or anything. Of course, I expected that. You other clans aren't thieves. That is all we have to share besides our brilliant architecture." He beckoned for the next leader to come up.

Birchpaw nodded to Violetpaw's greeting and settled down beside the older apprentice puffing out his fur to appear calm and friendly to the she-cat. Now that he was beside her he remember who the she-cat was, someone mention once she was the daughter of Waspclan's leader, Marblewasp but she was from a different clan or something. Birchpaw flicked his ears in attention toward the leaders as they started to speak about clan news as Marblewasp went first then Cliffspider spoke next, turning his attention back to Violetpaw he noticed the she-cat's seemed not to be here mental and wondered what was on her mind. Gently nudging her and dropping his voice to whisper. "It's a nice night for a swim huh?" Waspclan cats seemed natural swimmers among the clans through even Birchpaw didn't mind getting his paws wet like some cats. "If you want to get dry quicker, just press against me. My thick fur wouldn't mind or me." He mewed playful hoping to distract Violetpaw from her own thoughts and cheer her up.

Echopaw (SpiderClan) The young she-cat couldn't suppress her soft mrrow of laughter at Burrpaw's reaction to Cliffspider joining them. She often forgot the level of authority leaders had over others. Firstly she was more comfortable around her own leader, being in the same clan, and secondly he was so excitable and easy to get along with. She would much rather have him like that than stone-faced and serious. It made life so much more interesting. Additionally, even though he was leader, she just saw Cliffspider as... well, just as another cat. Sure, he was the face of the clan and the one to make decisions, but she wasn't going to treat him any differently. It's the same way she viewed cats from other clans too. Why were there even borders separating them?
As Marblewasp began the meeting, she watched Cliffspider hurry off and called a quick "Good luck!" after him, which left her alone with the MothClan apprentice. She thought she heard someone calling what sounded like Burrpaw's name and she glanced around, assuming it was probably his mentor. She should probably go join her mentor with the other medicine cats as well... But she was on the verge of making a new friend! Deciding to stay with the warrior apprentice and that Nightflower would come fetch her if she was needed, Echopaw settled down beside Burrpaw with her fur pressed snuggly against his side. "I love hearing the news from all the clans." She commented, focusing on the leaders as Cliffspider was finishing his announcements.
@fallownose
Minnowshade (MothClan) An amused purr rumbled in her throat as her blue eyes studied the BeetleClan and WaspClan cats. "I agree, SpiderClan is certainly the most bearable of the other clans." She meowed, before her gaze focused on the leaders as the gathering began. Marblewasp started them off, rattling off some useless banter before sharing the news of expected kits. She made a note to congratulate either of the pair if she passed them before they went home, but she wasn't going to specifically seek them out. Next up was Cliffspider, who had nothing important to say apparently. She wasn't quite sure if his remark about thieves was a joke or if he was being passive agressive, but it made her a bit uneasy. She tried to brush the feeling off, it was probably harmless. Next would likely be Graymoth. Her ears perked forward and she tilted her head, obviously more interested now that it would be her own leader speaking.

Shadestalker of Waspclan Burrpaw's name (Echopaw might hear) // @fallownose renaissanceBy then, his voice was cracking. He had to be a lot quieter, as the leaders had begun to announce news. He was by then only about 10 tail-lengths away. "Burrpaw! Burrpaw!", he called quietly. He was then only 6. He was moving very, very quickly this gathering. "Burrpaw! Where are you?" He hoped someone might here him and point Burrpaw to him.

Echopaw (SpiderClan) Good StarClan, Burrpaw's mentor was persistent. She could now clearly tell that someone was calling his name. Maybe this was Burrpaw's first gathering and he didn't want him to get lost? The dark furred apprentice seemed old enough to have been to gatherings before, though. Maybe his mentor was just protective or really liked sitting with him. The medicine cat apprentice lifted her head a bit and looked around, finally spotting where the voice was coming from. "He's right here!" She called out to him, trying to be quiet to not disrupt the leaders announcements. She looked over the warrior curiously. Wasn't he carrying WaspClan scent? Maybe he wasn't Burrpaw's mentor after all.

Burrpaw (MothClan) // Gathering Falls // with Echopaw and Shadestalker
Burrpaw felt more than relieved when Marblewasp called for the Gathering to start, and Cliffspider finally walked away. At least he hadn't made a fool of himself in front of the Clan leader - he hoped. As Echopaw took a seat beside him, Burrpaw flicked an ear in surprise. Didn't the medicine cats usually sit together, away from the rest of the crowd? But she looked so comfortable and happy, and he was finally getting to know someone from another Clan; surely she wouldn't get in trouble for sitting with the other apprentices, for once. A buzz of happiness coursed through Burrpaw, making his tail bush up, as Echopaw pressed into his side - hopefully he wouldn't be chastised for sitting so close to a cat from a rival Clan. There wasn't any harm in making good friends as long as he was loyal to his Clan in battle, right?
Echopaw quietly commented how she loved hearing the Clan news at the Gatherings, and Burrpaw nodded absently. "It's nice to hear how everyone else is doing, and to cheer for the new warriors," Burrpaw whispered. "Who knows, maybe I'll be back with a shiny new warrior name next Gathering!" he joked. He suddenly heard someone quietly calling his name again. Who could that be? Had he promised to meet someone else, and forgot? I didn't think so...
And then it hit him, just as a WaspClan scent rather familiar to his own reached his nose. Echopaw said "He's right here!", and a moment later a large dark shape was smothering Burrpaw.
"D-dad?" The rush of elation that Burrpaw suddenly felt was like nothing he'd ever felt before. He'd looked every Gathering for Shadestalker, and now here he was! He was finally meeting his father! He snuggled deeper into Shadestalker's soft fur, feeling as though he was finally complete. "Dad, I... I always wanted to meet you," he whispered.

Shadestalker "So have I.", he purred. "I always wished to see you. I always searched until the end of the gathering every time!" He felt a huge rush of emotions. Love, happiness, excitement, sadness, guilt... He also felt his old, extroverted self return. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry!" He wasn't quite sure what he was apologizing for, but he knew he should. He was purring uncontrollably, and didn't care what kind of scene he was making during a gathering. He managed to calm down after a while and meow to Burrpaw, "Who's your friend?" He was rather unusual for a Waspclan cat and didn't really think Waspclan was better than all of the others. He was okay with cross-clan relationships. Otherwise, Burrpaw wouldn't exist.

GRAYMOTH
Graymoth was as patient as could be, her yellow eyes scanning the ground of intermingling cats. Sheโd occasionally hear a shouted greeting of a catโs name, but for the most part she tuned it out, instead focusing on her fellow leaders. As usual, Marblewasp was a sour bore, refusing to engage in any sort of pleasant chit-chat. That was WaspClanโs pride for you; more often than not, they looked down on the other clans (especially BeetleClan) with disdain, as though other clancats were nothing more than dirt stuck between their toes. It irritated Graymoth to an extent, but she didnโt pay much mind to it. It was just Marblewaspโs arrogance โ and that of his clan โ speaking. Cliffspider was his usual boisterous self, and Snowybeetle was her usual reserved one. Although Graymothโs attention was divided, she politely responded to the questions asked of her; in typical MothClan fashion, however, her answers were vague and elusive, and often tip-toed around a true answer, hiding anything that MothClan wanted to keep secret. That was MothClanโs greatest gift โ the ability to be elusive while maintaining an air of politeness. MothClan could twist their words so well youโd be left confused as to what the original question even was.
Finally, once the chatter of the clans died down, Marblewasp began the gathering โ of course he did. Never let it be said that WaspClan would allow themselves to come second in anything. โGreetings, fine cats!โ the tom bellowed, casting his voice over the roar of the waterfall behind them. โWhat a pleasure it is for you to see us tonight.โ Graymoth muffled a derisive snort. Again, WaspClanโs arrogance was on full display. โI will begin with an update on WaspClan,โ Marblewasp continued. โThankfully, our summer has been largely positive. No severe sickness or injury, though my pride was wounded a few days ago when Redsun brought home the biggest fish Iโve ever seen! One exciting bit of news is that Houndstep and Craneleap are expecting kits. So in another year or so we will have a few more strong warriors among us, StarClan willing.โ Graymoth dipped her head in acknowledgement of Marblewaspโs words. Cliffspider rejoined them on the platform, and stepped forward to speak next.
โThereโs not much news for SpiderClan,โ Cliffspider announced. โWe have plenty of prey, no sign of the other clans stealing or anything. Of course, I expected that. You other clans arenโt thieves. This is all we have to share besides our brilliant architecture.โ At Cliffspiderโs underhanded accusation, Graymoth flicked an ear in annoyance. More than likely, Cliffspiderโs veiled threats were directed at WaspClan, because WaspClanโs borders were the only ones that lined up with SpiderClan. Still, it annoyed Graymoth; the Gathering was meant to be positive, sharing the good news of the clans โ not to throw about thinly veiled accusations. Wordplay was MothClanโs schtick.
Graymoth waited as Snowybeetle stepped forward, giving an update on BeetleClan. And then it was her turn, and Graymoth smoothly stood, padding a few steps forward so that she could cast her voice down on the cats below. โMothClan has had another prospering summer,โ she mewed. โWe have many new apprentices that shall make fine warriors in the future. Our forest thrives, and we sing the tales of our past as we always have, and always will. We have noticed signs of foxes on the border with WaspClan, and we would like to extend our warnings to them.โ She glanced at Marblewasp. โIf no other news need be shared, let us close this Gathering with the joy of good news! Let us share tongues beneath the moon for a time, and remember the past we all share.โ Graymoth dipped her head and stepped back.
