joining page hello u funky cat people, im making joining this rp as simple as i possibly can, which means it's really up to you how much effort you want to put into your form. the joining form itself is pasted below, but all i am requiring is a section on their personality and a section on their physical appearance. the length is up to you. the joining form is mostly so that you understand your character; to help you get a grasp of them, and how they fit into the universe, before you hop into the rp. and i guess also for me to make sure you haven't joined with Avatar Aang, re-skinned with hair this time, or Emo Mary Sue the Water Bender who Only Bends Tears. haha FIRST insomnia gang rise up { Taro Ito-Maoro } he/him | fire nation | 19 | firebender scholar
Tall, with short black hair, blue eyes, and a tan complexion, Taro seems like he would rock it with the ladies. Taro does not rock it with anyone, however, as he is a total nerd. This is noticeable in how completely unmuscled he is, to a point that it's almost extraordinary. He has the monolid eyes of the Fire Nation, with swept-back black hair and blue eyes that seem distinct to the Water Tribes. He wears the type of silky, unsullied clothing that you'd expect a scholar to wear, but with just enough fancy to say subtly that his family has money.
As stated, Taro is a nerd, first and foremost. The son of a firebender and a man from the northern water tribe, Taro was adopted by his fathers (Shioro Ito and Nazu Maoro), both well-off scholars. Taro was practically raised in libraries, spending any and all free-time there. He takes in any knowledge he can find, having a complete and total dread over not being able to learn something. As most of his childhood was spent with his dads, tutors, or books, Taro isn't exactly the type to understand friends, or social interaction as a whole. Things like sarcasm or metaphors fly completely over his head, making having a genuine conversation with him somewhat difficult. Jokes, especially, are hard for him. He tends to see everything in facts and numbers, and make detailed plans for every little thing. If he isn't prepared for a situation, he'll often panic and make a total fool out of himself.

Luca looks, to put it shortly, basic. His skin is pale, his eyes are a watery blue-gray, and his hair is slightly curly and a dusty, light brown color. His features are all soft and innocuous, and he's far from the type to stand out in a crowd. His tall, willowy frame makes it clear that he's an airbender, so what's most interesting about him is what he lacks. Taught solely by an impoverished mother in the United Republic, Luca is missing the traditional arrow tattoos of airbenders.
An ocean of boundless optimism, Luca is constantly willing to look on the bright side of things. He is relatively quiet and reserved, often not speaking unless spoken to, and when he does speak, it's easy to miss what he said. This stems from a fear of authority and being reprimanded severe enough that he can go silent for hours if he's caught doing something wrong. Luca tends to see the best in people, always willing to make another friend or give someone a helping hand without expecting anything in return.

Bo aims for the "I can kick your ass without even breaking a sweat" aesthetic, and most would say that she achieves it. She has the black hair, green eyes, and darker skin typical of an earth kingdom resident, and a small scar on her upper lip. Her hair is styled in an undercut that she pulls back into a small bun. She's tall and muscular, and wears militant-style clothing despite not officially being in the military.
Her aesthetic expands past just her appearance. Bo rarely shares details of her personal life or has any kind of emotional discussion, partially because she has a hard time relating to people and partially because she just doesn't want to. As a non-bender in a family of earthbenders, Bo's always felt inferior, and wishes to join the military to prove herself. She spends a lot of time practicing her swordsmanship or reading up on military history, and has a knowledge of weapons that she's almost embarrassed of. Despite her seemingly unfriendly attitude, Bo just expresses affection in her own way, and would die for her friends.

{ denahi taslak. } he/him | northern water tribe | 22 | water bender the jester.
Denahi is from the Northern Water Tribe and this would be easy to guess just by looking at him. He has the trademark darker skin married with stark blue eyes. His hair is a bit unusual, given it is naturally curly. He wears it longer on the top, long enough to pull back into a small ponytail (or a "warrior's wolf tail") but he tends to have it loose because it's his most recognizable feature. Second to that would be his goofy smile which he is incapable of wiping off his face. He smiles in every situation, even tense ones. As far as build goes, he's a professional athlete so he's in good shape. He's muscular but rather lean. His height is a couple inches above average and he's more nimble than strong. As far as style goes, Denahi has a few trademarks that make him recognizable to the crowds. One is that he always plays probending with a bandana pulled up over his nose. He claims this is because it prevents him breathing in flying gravel. But really it's because the crowhounds would be less intimidating if their waterbender always had a gleaming smile. Also he tends to wear loose fabric trousers that are tighter around the ankles which loop around his feet. And he wraps his hands. His fingers don several silver rings which he inherited from both of his grandfathers.

BABES { Gema Kyan. } she/her | NEK resident, former DER | 22 | Earthbender The bootstrapper.
A just barely over five foot ball of fire is the the easiest way to paint a picture of Gema. Her hair is bright orange and falls in loose curls down her back and bright blue eyes to top off the girls striking look. Now she may not look it at first glance but this tiny bender is nothing but muscle. She was trained growing up in dance and by her grandfather in bending. Because of the whole pure muscle thing she is relatively curvy. She is covered in freckles and will pretty much fight anyone who says anything about them.
She was born to a rich family who was big in DER, she grew up as a rich girl with anything and everything she could want. As as ridiculous as it sounds, she hated it. Always playing the role of good little princess. It was gross. Plus she wasn't really allowed to use her bending, it wasn't lady-like. Her grandfather was the only one who thought that rule was silly so he taught her secretly. Gema has been on her own since she was sixteen and has managed to get a pretty good place in the probending world. Well at least she thought it was pretty good, she was an assistant, it was the highest paying steady job she'd managed to get. Tea shops didn't pay enough at all.

{ Rowan } he/him | DER | 23 | 土 the chevalier.
Rowan is not your typical pro-bender. Calm and level headed, Rowan is intensely difficult to read. As imperceptible as a boulder, Rowan is patient; he intelligently waits and lets the world around him play out. While many probenders are quick and light on their feet, Rowan is rooted and untouchable. Think a mountain, but picture it covered in wildflowers.
Because, under Rowan's tough exterior is a rich and vibrant world. The boy is intimidating on the outside with his wild 'fro springing forth in every direction and intense, dark brown eyes focused and difficult to read. However, inside is a soft and gentle boy. Like the badger moles from his beloved home city of Omashu, Rowan is a tender and quiet creature. He enjoys his solitude, surrounded by earth he loves.
Despite this, Rowan is quite the charmer. Many stock it up to his dimples and crooked smile, or perhaps his gentle and warm voice, but anyone who has met Rowan has found themselves instantly smitten. The tall man (6'2" if he's slouching) is as intimidating as an oak but offers as much shade as a Redwood; He has connections anywhere and everywhere. From the highest of royal positions to the most normal of non benders to the most talented healers in the furthest corners of the Southern Water Tribe, Rowan probably knows them. And, they probably love him.
Rowan is also one of the strongest earth benders you'll meet. In pro-bending matches, you're lucky if you can move him a centimeter. His strikes are calculated, deliberate, and intense (and maybe a little painful, if we're honest). His stubborn and determined, and knows his way around a match. He lies in the back, supporting the other two members of the CrowHounds and keeping them in the ring and, more importantly, collected when they inevitably loose their cool (be it either at the other team or each other).
Rowan is a tough man to crack, an important ally, and an even more dangerous enemy. It takes a lot to turn him away, and few have achieved this. Make no mistake though, Rowan is not one to forgive heavy transgressions, though minor ways he may be swayed. The intelligent boy is like a vault however: he will never forget if he does choose to forgive.

Enyo is quite honestly a terror and a nightmare. From a young age, she was ready to go. The girl is fiery and energetic and absolutely one hundred percent adored Avatar Korra. As soon as she turned 8, she begged her parents to move to UNR to be closer to Korra and the action. When she was 10, they relented and she joined the Jing Shen as the youngest member yet. Being born from the same tribe and getting to meet Korra, followed by getting to train under the very Avatar she loved from birth? Life couldn't be better. The girl was quick and powerful, and made her way swiftly up the ranks as one of the most talented healers and toughest of fighters. She was driven and fierce and beginning to make a name for herself in the priestess community as being one of the most in touch with spirits.
Enyo is tough and physically built like a machine. She trained hard to be tough fighter, a strong healer, and meditated every day to become as in tune with the spirit world and the cosmic energy of the universe as one can be. She is somewhat of a fireball at a mere 5'3" and is all muscle, with the ferocity of a thousand suns. She cut her sandy brown hair short to match Korra's (out of an unrequited crush that developed when she was about 14 and never went away). She has built strong connections living in UNR as a member of the Jing Shen, and she is well known throughout the Southern Water Tribe back home. She had a bright future ahead of her.
And then Korra died. And Enyo has never even attempted to recover.
Call it what you want: devotion to her hero, her massive gay crush, or her personal connection with her mentor, Enyo became angry and more ruthless than before. She shot up the ranks quickly but shot down any and all connections to herself. She receded into herself and devoted herself to her own work. She trained the other Jing Shen relentlessly with little compassion, determined to keep Korra's spirit alive. She regularly experiences flashbacks of her time with Korra and meditates on them frequently trying to figure out what happened to Korra in that avalanche because to her it just doesn't. make. sense.
The closest she can feel to Korra now is through her work with the Spirit World and personal meditation. She has connections to the spirits that would rival some of the most in depth air bending acolytes. She knows her way around the Spirit World and UNR, and definitely leans towards the teachings of the old White Lotus.
She also definitely still believes Korra is out there, and is determined to find the truth (even if it will hurt).

Adara is a beauty. Rather tall in height, Adara straightens to an intimidating 5'10" on a good day. She has wild, curly hair that spirals however it wants. She usually keeps it pulled back in a simple, frizzy ponytail. She has warm brown eyes, with long thick lashes, and a nice bone structure in her face. Adara is lithe and smooth, with ample curves and fair skin.
Adara is not like most Fire Nation. She prefers to live a simple life, working hard to make a living. She moved to UNR and is a huge fan of pro-bending. She loves how light the benders move on their feet and studies their moves closely in hopes of gaining new techniques. She works a day job as a bartender at the Flying Lemur and at night helps push materials for the Tiger Cranes for extra money. She isn't proud of it, but most would never guess that she's tangled with the Mafia crowd. She's got a sweet face and even sweeter disposition.
Don't let that fool you, however. She is a tough fireball and a very strong bender, and very in tune with herself. She prefers to be alone, and spends most of her leisure time enjoying pro-bending matches and practicing her own bending in the gyms available. She has been very focused on her own personal breath of fire, and is very determined to become a stronger bender and maybe get into pro-bending herself one day.
