I already gave my reasons (seriously, she literally snuck out of camp
seven times and was never punished for it even once), but another reason people may not like her is how she treated Flywhisker while she was still mentoring her.
Yeah, I mentioned the Flywhisker thing a couple of posts ago.
Dear lord, seven whole times?
Wasn't she just a kit/apprentice though?
1) Snuck out as a kit to gather herbs for Jayfeather and Alderpaw
2) Snuck out to ask Violetpaw to help find their mother
3) Snuck out to tell Violetpaw that their mother was dead
4) Snuck out to find SkyClan
5) Snuck out of SkyClan's camp with Finpaw
6) Snuck out to the Moonpool
7) Snuck out to speak to Violetshine about appointing Tawnypelt as leader
And if you wanna count them, there's also Alderpaw and Needlepaw taking Twigkit and Violetkit to meet each other, and Twigpaw convincing Ivypool to let her check on Violetpaw, but at least she had older cats with her. And with the former, it may have had some influence on her.
It'd be one thing if this only happened once or twice, but it happened in almost every book. It doesn't matter that she was an apprentice for most of these times or that she had good intentions, she still should've known better, especially when the first one I listed nearly led to her
drowning, while she was actually
held hostage by ShadowClan in another instance.
The only times she actually gets permission to leave are when she wants to look for Pebbleshine and when she wants to get SkyClan back in TRS. Speaking of, her sneaking out was so bad, that they even have her address it in that same book.
What's even more annoying is that she's never really punished for it except for the occasional scolding, which she never really takes to heart until TRS. Some I can understand, like when she snuck out to find SkyClan because she thought her family was there, but others, like when she snuck out to go to the Moonpool, were just really unnecessary to the point where it became annoying, especially when it had no bearing to the overall plot.
People like to criticize Twigbranch because of her Clanhopping, but the truth is that this only happened twice and for completely understandable reasons. But she snuck out so often that it simply
feels like it was more.
