Chapter One: Moving Sucks!
I let out a loud sigh as I continued to watch vast nothingness, the nothingness that I had been seeing for the past three hours. Well, I might have seen a few cows or something, but that may have just been wishful thinking.
"Are you alright? Do you need me to stop?" Dad asked with concern.
"Would it be too much to ask for you to turn around and go back home?" I muttered, still looking out the window.
"The doctor suggested that the pollution of the city was bad for your health, and plus there's a superb oncologist who lives in the general vicinity of where we're moving. I heard he's the best in the area," Dad said.
"Well, it's not going to be hard to beat that, from what I can tell, we're in total dumpsville, population: us, and that doctor," I snorted, shaking my head.
"We haven't even arrived to the town yet."
"Hmph." I crossed my arms over my chest in defiance.
"Come on, it could be fun, you have a chance to start over, to reinvent yourself. You always said you wanted to get away from those terrible twins and their cronies," Dad said.
"Yea, but I'm going to have to start school in the middle of the year, why couldn't we just move later or something?" I asked.
"Your health couldn't wait."
"Are you sure it had nothing to do with Mom moving back there with her new boyfriend?" I asked, turning to face him.
"I'll admit seeing your Mom with her new boy toy did stir up some feelings in me, but it had nothing to do with us moving."
"Dad, don't ever use the phrase boy toy again," I said, wrinkling my nose, it was so weird to hear adults say things like that.
"That kid was young enough to be your older brother, I'm just calling it as I see it," Dad chuckled.
"Well, you know that Mom has always liked her men younger," I laughed. Dad was about four years younger than Mom was.
"I'm glad to see you're not as upset as you were earlier," Dad said, turning to smile at me.
I smiled back, but then it quickly turned into a gasp of horror when I saw a large winged creature barreling straight towards us!

Chapter Two: WTF was that? I clutched my chest and looked to where just moments before, a bird or something, the size of at least four California Condors, had almost smashed into our windshield. "Are you alright?" Dad asked with a shaky voice. His face was ash white, and his blue green eyes were bugging out of his head. I could only imagine that I looked the same way, only worse. "What was that thing?!" I exclaimed. One minute it seemed like it was about to take a dive into our windshield, and the next, gone, nothing, almost like it was never even there. "I don't know, but it seems to be gone now, it may have been a shadow or something," Dad said as the colour slowly returned to his face. "I wonder what makes a shadow THAT big?" I asked, looking around but finding no signs of the winged creature. "I have no idea, but we should get back on the road, I want to be far away from here if it decides to come back," Dad said. I must have fallen asleep, because when I looked again, I saw houses, actual houses, mainly the mansion. It was HUGE, it had to be at least five times the size of my house, well, the house I used to live in. "I heard that Amber Tatanation lives there, you know that actress that stars in your favourite show?" Dad said, nudging me and pointing at the mansion. "No way! You mean we're actually going to be living in the same town as AMBER TATANATION?!" I exclaimed. I was fan boying pretty hard right now, but I didn't care. Amber T was the complete package, she was an actress, a singer, a model, and from what I've heard, she was really nice to her fans. "According to some of the sources I heard, she's probably even at your school," Dad replied with a small smile. "You're kidding!" I exclaimed, feeling incredibly happy as we pulled into a side street, a few houses down from Amber T's house. "I'm sure the neighbours might know more, the land lady did say there were twins, your age, next door," Dad replied, already trying to get me to make friends. "Dad," I said with a light sigh. He knew how I felt about making friends. Believe it or not, I used to be in the popular group, but then I was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia, or ALL for short, and all of that changed. I supposed it was my fault. The thought of knowing that I was living on borrowed time, made it hard for me to stay close to anyone. Also, according to my ex-best friend, I had turned into a self-pitying sack of shit, who laid around and did nothing, except feel sorry for himself. His words exactly. I supposed in a way he was right.
