It was dreadfully hot. The shade provided by the clump of ferns that made up the elders den was little help. Besides, Snowstep hated spending her time in there. Not that she didn't enjoy the company of the old cats around her but sitting in there weighed down her spirit, reminding her that she would be there for so many more moons to witness senior warriors move in and elders move out to rest with StarClan. It always felt cramped and stuffy. The young she-cat padded slowly out from under the ferns, feeling her pelt brush up against the leaves. She instantly could feel the warmth of the sun shining through the trees, lighting the camp floor with patches of light. Her tail flicked left and right with mild discomfort as she found a shady spot to settle down, rolling onto her side and stretching her legs out in front of her. Her head turned, blue eye staring absently ahead as her ears twitched to listen to the sounds of her clanmates chatting. Her jaws slightly opened, drinking in the scents of camp, pinpointing who was close by.
Hickoryfoot's head jerked around as she felt the prickle of eyes on the back of her head. Not malicious, of course, but being watched in such a manner unnerved her just a bit. Standing, she let her tail rise in greeting. "Snowstep," she said, internally relaxing a bit as she noticed that one of her clanmates was actually looking around. Steps high, she stepped toward the other cat. Despite being a warrior, her steps held a joyful hop which was a bit overbearing. "Did you want to do anything, Snowstep?" There was excitement in her voice, despite the fact that there was hardly anything to do which would come to mind.

Snowstep | w/ Hickoryfoot
Snowstep's ear twitched at the sound of Hickoryfoot's voice and her head turned in the direction of the she-cat. Her scent washed over her as she stepped closer and Snowstep offered a smile, focusing on the warrior's face. "Hello, Hickoryfoot." She meowed, sitting up straight. She hesitated as she was asked if she wanted to do anything and she felt a bit of hope. There was never anything for her to do anymore, she was often just bored and alone sitting around camp. "Did you have something in mind?" She asked, hoping she could have something fun to do, but even if she was given a camp task like changing bedding she would take it.
"Well, exploring anywhere but here sounds like something which I would much rather do," pointed out Hickoryfoot. "Not sure about yourself, of course. Or if you know of anywhere that's more exciting than the middle of camp." She tossed her head to indicate everything around her. "Patrol then? Something more exciting." Exciting should perhaps have been taken with a grain of salt. Hickoryfoot tended to find 'dangerous' to have the same meaning. At least as much as she could get away with. "Any suggestions? Walking toward the border?"

Artemis Moon: Pretty sure nothing I do is normal, but sure. Reading that much in one sitting is perfectly fine and happens to us all.

Ṣanɗypaw™: It's normal. One time after I got home from checking out a book from the library, I finished it all.

Violetsky: So I found out why none of my packages have been arriving. I had the wrong street address presented in my retail store accounts. Whoopsie!

Morior: on an ereader it tracks how long it takes you to read 1 page and then estimates how many hours/minutes it will take you to finish the book for a lot of the shorter books on mine it says only 2-3 hours

ѕρσσкуѕку: I remember when Sunrise first came out and I read it in just over two hours. It was pretty fun. I can't do that anymore though, takes too much mental energy for me. I usually tend to only read 1-3 chapters in a sitting now.

Violetsky: I try not to do the same anymore either. Not because I can't, but because after waiting for the book to arrive from Amazon for a week to several months, only to devour it in a matter of hours, would seem like such a waste in my eyes. :/

Violetsky: To each their own though.

Violetsky: Well it's not that I didn't like it- I think it was serviceable for the most part -I suppose I just set my expectations too high?
