Intro
Are you stuck trying to think of the perfect name for your character? You've certainly come to the right place! This post is a compilation of prefixes, suffixes, and pre-made names.
This has been a project of mine since I joined the original forums in 2010.
It started as a simple list of prefixes jotted down in a notebook to help me pick names for my own characters and the more I used it, the more I wanted to share with the rest of the forums so I started collecting more names and here we are!
Anyway, I hope you find what you are looking for and if you have any questions, please feel free to comment!
How to use the page
Using this guide is really simple. Click the links below for easy navigation to the post containing what you are looking for. The banners give a general idea of what types of names are under that section. All names are placed into categories of what they are and each category is hidden inside a spoiler to keep the page from being too long. Headers above each spoiler tell you what is underneath. For example, the banner titled "Animals" is above all the categories that use animal names. There are categories for Amphibians, Bugs, Nocturnal Animals, and so on.
Feel free to suggest any prefixes, suffixes, or pre-made names you can think of that you don't see here already. The more the merrier!
If you need help finding the perfect name, feel free to ask and I'd be glad to assist you!

As with most pages, there are a few rules in place here. Please look over them and keep them in mind as you use this guide.
- Please be respectful and polite. This page is meant to help people so I don't want to see anyone being rude to anyone here.
- No spamming. It is one of my biggest pet peeves. If you do post and feel the need to add more onto your post, please just edit it rather than making an entire new post for it. It keeps everything much more organized.
- Feel free to link this page to your clan!
Guide to Names
I'm sure most people already know the rules and workings of names. But just in case, here is a quick run-down of clan, ancient, and tribal names.
Clan Names:
Firstly, names cannot have things that cats wouldn't know about. This is mostly aimed at man-made items.
Clan names are made up of a prefix and suffix. The prefix is given to the cat at birth and usually describes their aesthetics- generally color or size.
Suffixes change throughout a cats' life until they become a warrior. When a cat is less than 6 moons old, the suffix will always be 'kit' . Cats between the ages of 6 and 12 moons and are undergoing their training, the suffix 'kit' will be replaced with 'paw'. Once becoming a warrior, their suffix will generally describe their personality or skills and they will keep this suffix for the rest of their life.
If a cat becomes leader of a clan they will change their name to have the suffix 'star'.
Ancient Names:
The Ancients are cats who used to live in the Lake Territories long before the clans moved there. Their names are similar to that of the clan but have a space in the name resulting in a two word name. These are pretty descriptive and are usually chosen by the first thing their mother sees after birth.
Tribal Names:
Like the Ancients, Tribe cats are named after what their mother sees during or after their birth. Many of the names have a tribal feel to them, similar to stereotypical Native American names. They use nicknames to refer to each other casually which is always one prominent word from their given name.
