My overall opinion on this set isn't good- it's that it was a waste of time for the most part. Pebbleshine's Kits is very forgettable. It had no real substance. I was hoping this novella would actually give her character a personality, and it couldn't even do that. Tree's Roots is the only one that I don't consider a waste of time. It was a very good Tree backstory. It serves its purpose pretty well, and does a very thorough job at explaining why Tree is the way he is when we first meet him. I liked him even more after his novella, if that was possible. (Big Tree fan, sorry not sorry.) 10/10, one of my favorite novellas now. Definitely my favorite Clarissa novella. Mothwing's Secret was the very definition of mediocre. It wasn't really anything special, although I won't deny that it was an excellent analysis of Mothwing's character.
When I say these were mostly a waste of time, I don't mean there weren't things I liked about them. I just don't think they had to happen (besides Tree's Roots). My hopes aren't very high for A Warrior's Choice, honestly. What did you think of this novella pack? Vote in poll/discuss here.

The Pebbleshine one was so boring and predictable. I skipped the entire section where she meets kittypets because I could tell they were an unimportant "get you from one place to another" plot point.
Got even more bored and annoyed with it towards the end. She'd gone through so much struggles only for Starclan to give her the answer in the end. Why not do that at the start?
The Tree one I didn't read at all after feeling so frazzled by the Pebbleshine one. I've always found Tree pretty boring, not a fan of most of the modern characters.
Went to the last one with Mothwing and jeez, what a breath of fresh air. I really needed a nice trip back to the forest territory with all the better older characters after all these recent bad books. Plus I've always wanted more Riverclan content, so I enjoyed it. It was neat to see Hawkfrost steadily decline into the way we know him. Along with getting Moth's pov of the final battle with all the ghosts.

Pebbleshine's Kits was ABSOLUTELY pointless, not to mention kind of sad to read, because we already know the outcome. The only thing I was kind of looking forward to, but I also didn't care much about, was what Pebbleshine would have named her kits, but guess what? She didn't even name them. I suppose the Micah part was pretty cool. I still find it pointless though.
Mothwing's Secret wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be, I actually enjoyed it.
Tree's Roots was the best, it is probably my favorite novella besides Tigerclaw's Fury.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked Pebbleshine's Kits for the most part, but it's the weakest of the three novellas. The ending in particular made this book my least favorite of the set. Mothwing's Secret was also good, and made Mothwing my favorite Tigerstar kit. She's a relatable character for me. I really enjoyed seeing interactions between her and Mudfur/Hawkfrost, and I loved reading her thoughts after she found out that StarClan was real. Tree's Roots is my favorite novella. His relationship with Root and his struggle with being abandoned were my favorite parts of the book.
