What do you think is the best soda? I am including diet drinks in with the regular ones, like Diet Coke with regular Coke, even though Diet Coke is better than regular Coke IMO, I'm too lazy to make that my choices.

I really like any sort of orange soda, even though it makes me feel like my teeth are dissolving.

Cream soda. Specifically IBC cream soda. Best stuff in the world. Coke is a close second. I love root beer but get migraines after drinking them so not worth it all the time. I never really cared for cream soda, at least not by itself, it's good with ice cream though, like a cream soda float instead of a root beer float, and butterscotch schnapps.

Coke Zero is my favorite soda, but my college has some kind of weird deal with Pepsi so the dining halls and vending machines don't sell coke products. Root beer is my second choice. The thing about root beer is it's not a branded soda like Coke/Pepsi or Orange Crush or something, it's just a generic name for a drink. That means the taste of it can vary widely between brands. I've had root beer that makes me gag because it has that strong medicine-like taste, and I've had root beer that's just pleasantly sweet and tastes really good. I do have a pet peeve with root beer and that's this. You know how there are the 8 Basic Drinks that every restaurant provides? Coke/Pepsi, Diet Coke/Pepsi, Sprite/Sierra Mist, root beer, some kind of orange soda, Mountain Dew, water, and lemonade/Hi-C? These drinks are usually cheap, running about $1-2 at fast food places and $2-4 at nice places, and pretty much always offer free refills. Anyway, root beer is one of those. Except... not quite, and I hate it. Occasionally I'll go to a restaurant that offers the 8 Basic Drinks and notice they have Pepsi, so I'll order a root beer, and they'll bring out a bottle. This would be fine if the other 7 drinks came in bottles or cans (which they sometimes do), but no, oftentimes it's just the root beer that comes like this. Most restaurants won't give free refills for sodas that aren't on tap, so this sort of screws me over. (Thankfully these days most servers will tell me on ordering that it comes in a bottle and allow me to change my order. But back in the day I would just get a bottle and be like "oh, I guess I'm paying double tonight".) Even worse than this is when the restaurant brews their own root beer but doesn't tell me this when I order. I've literally gone to places before, just asked for a root beer and then been presented with this super fancy mug filled with not-quite-fizzy-enough liquid that has this gag-inducing medicine smell and taste. Then I'm like "wtf" and the server is like "this is our brewed-in-house root beer, it's one of our best drinks!" and I'm all "Oh. That's... not what I asked for, but okay". And then I get the bill and it's $7 a mug with no free refills (so I paid $14) and I'm just... sigh. Well, that was a rant. My bad.

That sucks about the vending machine, and the Root Beer in restaurant places, I'm sorry.

That sucks about the vending machine, and the Root Beer in restaurant places, I'm sorry. I'm basic, so I usually go with MUG, and if that's not an option, A&W. These are both really sweet brands, so some might say they're not flavorful, but I like sweetness, so I like these. My boyfriend's favorite is Barques. I just think it's okay, and I usually avoid it because it has caffeine, and if I'm going to drink caffeine, I may as well have a Coke. I know I just trashed on locally-brewed root beers, and it's true I usually don't like them, especially when I'm not told that's what I'm getting, but there is one place in my city that does an amazing home-brewed root beer. It's like $5 a cup, but it's so good. Best soda I've ever had, I'd say.

Other because ginger ale all the way. It's really the only soda I actually like, and even then I'm particular cause I like sharper and less sugary ginger brews and most of the regular store brands like Canada Dry aren't really that gingery :/

Mug and A&W are honestly really similar. XD But if you compare either of them to Barques or an unbranded one, you'll taste the difference. The fancy home-brewed one? It's sweet, but it doesn't taste sugary, if that makes sense? It wasn't super fizzy either. It does have that signature medicinal tang that home-brewed root beers always have, but it isn't overpowering like a lot of them are, it's just a little hint. Mostly it tastes like that definitive root beer flavor, flavor that's not masked by sugar and caffeine like so many commercial brands.

I don't like a ton of fizz because I feel like I'm swallowing air instead of drink, but to each his own. Especially because root beer has a ton of fizz compared to other sodas, lol.

Honestly am low-key miffed that someone would compare Sprite with Ginger Ale.
I guess they're similar in that they don't have that kind of molasses undertone that Dr. Pepper/Coke/Pepsi have, but beyond that the ginger really makes a whole lot of difference. I guess if you don't like ginger than it won't be your thing, but if you're avoiding it just cause it might be like Sprite I'd give it a shot :-p I also do not like sprite, but clearly I have strong feelings about ginger ale lol

Skypaw13 That's understandable lol I know someone who lets their soda go completely flat before drinking it. I'm not that crazy. XD Once when I visited my old high school for a football game, I saw my old band director get very stressed with one of his students because they were shaking a bottle of Dr. Pepper really hard. I heard him say "If you open that anywhere NEAR someone's instrument, you're dead". The kid just goes "I like my soda flat." And the director gave him a very judgmental look and said "open it over the trash can in the bathroom" and walked away. XD

It's not my imagination either, I looked it up.

I don’t really drink soda.
The only sodas I’ve ever had are Coke, Sprite, Root Beer, and Ginger Ale (but only in another drink). I dislike how soda is fizzy, and I haven’t had soda in years, aside from Ginger Ale in another drink but it doesn’t really taste like Ginger Ale then, so I don’t even remember which I like the best.
