It wouldn't be far-fetched if they were his kits- their mother died, but he was able to escape with them, and while he was out looking for food for them Alderpaw and Needlepaw found them.
That would be super sad though. Your clan's gone, your mate's dead, you're starving and your kits are starving too, and then they disappear too.
Maybe that's his "journey". He follows Darktail and the rogues, thinking they stole them, ends up at the lake with them, and later finds his kits.

I mean... I've seen look-a-likes... but literally everything except the eyes are the same. Same shade of silver (it's hard to tell cause Violetkit's in the dark in her picture), same ears, extremely similar striped markings, and even the same white muzzle... which seems pretty deliberate.
Well I guess it could possibly just be a coincidence, since this new author doesn't make the characters as unique- they all tend to be the same type, just with different fur lengths, colors, ect... but still.
This is the most probable theory since people guessed SkyClan would come back.

Wow, they do look alike! I always had the headcanon that they were either the kits of Rileypaw or Bellapaw, but them being Hawkwing's kits work too I guess.

I always had a feeling that they were either Hawkwing's or Rileypaw/Bellapaw's kits ever since the covers for TAS and HJ were released. Maybe both if Hawkwing and Bellapaw became mates.
