    an avatar the last airbender roleplay
Water.
Earth.
Fire.
Air.
Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony; then everything changed when the Alliance was formed. Water and fire uniting together to conquer the world. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements could stop them, however what the world never saw coming was that the Avatar would join the Alliance and only make them stronger.
Fifty years have passed and finally, after long last, the Avatar is dead, and the cycle continues as the new Avatar is born to the Earth Kingdom. With the old Avatar gone, the four nations race to find the new Avatar.
For better or worse, he remains undiscovered by the forces looking for him, with only his friends to accompany him as he discovers his destiny to save the world.
About 
Welcome to The Elemental War! This is an Avatar the Last Airbender roleplay set in a timeline where Aang died with the Air Nomads and the Fire Nation teamed up with the Northern Water Tribe, forming an alliance as they raise the next Avatar together, now fifty years have passed from that time and the old Avatar is dead.
The roleplay splits into three main groups of characters, one is the new Avatar and his group of friends as they travel the globe, learn to bend the elements, and end up in the middle of an all out war between the Alliance and the rest of the world.
The second group follows along a team of young Alliance members as they hunt down the Avatar with the intent to kill him so the Avatar will be reborn in the Fire Nation and back in their control.
The third group follows along the journey of a bunch of people outside the Alliance as they team up to find the Avatar after just finding out he’s been reborn in the Earth Kingdom, their hope is to convince the Avatar to team up with them and stop the Alliance.
Rules 
• Activity
Life is busy, and I know that, so I’m not gonna be too strict about activity, so long as you can get a post up every week or so and make sure to chat to let us know you’re still interested, you’re good to go.
• Literacy
I’m not gonna be big on this one either, so long as you give your roleplay partner something they can actually respond to, than I don’t care about lengths.
• Basic RP Rules
We know them by heart by now but in case you’re confused, I’m asking that you don’t godmod, spotlight, control someone else’s character in any way, and don’t make perfect characters, they’re pretty easy rules to follow.
• Characters
So to cover the basic character rules, obviously don’t make any characters super unrealistic, etc, etc, but also I want to add that since this is a roleplay for atla, which is based off of very specific places (Fire Nation is based off of Japan, Earth Kingdom is based off of China, Air Nomads are based off of Tibetan Monks, and Water Tribes are based off of the Inuits) I ask that you don’t make characters that wouldn’t realistically fit into the Canon Avatar World, and if you’re still a little unsure if your character does or doesn’t fit, I’m always happy to help!
• Inclusion
I would ask that you make sure to include everyone in the roleplay in both chatting and roleplaying; no one likes to feel left out, so if you notice someone is being left out, include them!
• Drama
It’s good in roleplay (though let’s try not to make the rp nothing but drama) but it’s not good out of roleplay, if you have problems with another member of the roleplay, don’t bring it into the roleplay, and regardless of how you feel about them, you should still treat them with kindness and respect.
• Have Fun

Welcome to the world of Avatar! Chances are, if you’re joining this roleplay you already know what’s up, but in case anything needs some clarification, I’ll go over some things.
The World of Avatar is divided up into four nations.
The Fire Nation controls fire and live in the red parts of the map, the Fire Nation takes inspiration from Japan and in this roleplay, they’ve teamed up with the Northern Water tribe to form The Alliance and have a base close by the Northern Water Tribe as well as territory that they occupy in the Earth Kingdom and two of the old Air Temples, which the Alliance uses as war bases and to show exactly what they’re capable of.
The Air Nomads are fairly nomadic and are inspired by the Tibetan monks and while they do tend to move a lot, they do have four Air Temples in each corner of the world which were their homes until the Fire Nation destroyed them, leaving only a few wandering Air Nomads left alive. There’s a small Air Nomad colony that has taken sanctuary in an island off the cost of the Earth Kingdom which is where most of the very few remaining airbenders can be found, however there are others scattered across the globe as well.
The Water Tribes are divided into two, the Northern Water Tribe and and the Southern Water Tribe, both located at their respective poles and are inspired by the Inuit people. The Northern Water Tribe is far bigger than their southern cousins and have formed an Alliance with the Fire Nation, staking claim you some territory in the Earth Kingdom, two of the Air Temples, and have a base close by the Fire Nation. The Southern Water Tribe is not involved in the Alliance and remain mostly secluded in their own territory, hoping to avoid the war raging on outside.
The Earth Kingdom is the biggest of all the nations and covers the most ground, with their main city being Ba Sing Se, they are also the only kingdom to have two different sets of rulers. There’s their main leader: the king or queen of Ba Sing Se, and then another ruler: the king of queen of Omashu that mostly sticks to their own city. The Earth Kingdom is also home to a small group of firebenders that left the Fire Nation once the Alliance was formed and now live in a small city of their own.
The world of Avatar is also full of spirits from the Spirit World and creatures that are various mixes of normal animals (turtleducks, eelhounds, etc) and the occasional giant lionturtle that roam throughout the oceans.
Plots 
Fifty years ago, a comet flew over the world and gave the Fire Nation incredible power, they used this power to destroy almost all the Air Nomads, including the young Avatar Aang, and they would’ve continued on their path of destruction if not for the fact that the comet had passed and they no longer had the power that they did before.
Knowing that the next Avatar would be born in the Water Tribes, the Fire Nation struck an alliance with the Northern Water Tribe and together they found the Avatar and raised him to fight for the Alliance.
For years the Alliance conquered and fought, though even with the Avatar’s help they couldn’t quite seem to win, perhaps because of the infighting within their ranks or the fact that both the Fire Nation and the Northern Water Tribe have been secretly fighting for dominance within the Alliance and neither will stop until the other is completely under their control.
Fifteen years ago, Avatar Matilik died and the next Avatar was reborn into the Earth Kingdom; however fearing that they may lose their edge in the war, the Alliance continues to act as though Matilik is still alive, even having his brother Konren disguise himself as Matilik for appearances. It’s a deeply held secret, one that not even everyone in the Alliance know and they will stop at nothing to make sure the next Avatar dies at their hands so they can be reborn into the Fire Nation and back in control of the Alliance, though they may end up with more problems than they realize as the power balance within the Alliance shifts and leaves the two nations fighting for more control.
However what they don’t know is that the news of Avatar Matilik’s death has been leaked and now a selective group of individuals across the globe know of his death and are searching for the new Avatar as well, hoping he can turn the tides in the war and bring the balance back to their world.
Meanwhile, angry spirits wander the lands as they take vengeance against the four nations for letting the world become so out of balance that even the Avatar became nothing more than a tool in their warfare.
All the while, the new Avatar lives in an orphanage in Ba Sing Se, completely unaware of the power he possesses or the journey he is about to take.
Basically, this roleplay will follow along three separate groups, group one will focus on the Avatar and his friends as they journey across the globe, master the elements, and get caught in the middle of an all out war.
Group two will focus on a team of young but highly skilled Alliance teens and young adults as they search for the New Avatar and seek to kill him.
Group three will follow along the adventures of a scrappy, young group of people from across the globe as they come together under the Order of the White Lotus and team up to find the Avatar and convince him to help them turn the tides of this war.
Along the way, all three groups will face many challenges and need to rely on each other to help them get through this elemental war.

Born into the northern northern water tribe. Currently seeking revenge for his father’s death and looking for the avatar. He is living in Yuze’s home in Ba sing se after running away from the tribe. His father was killed by Naja’s father.
Gema
17 - Female - Earth Bender
An Earth bender from Omashu who has traveled quite a bit for fun trying to learn from other benders throughout the earth kingdom; she has a pet Sugar Glider that comes and goes as he wants
Ziro
16 - Female (she/her/they/them) - Nonbender
Unnamed family.
Yuze
15 - Male - Nonbender
Friends with Pen Lu and Ro
Dalha
18 - Female - Airbender
Dalha is not one to talk much about her past , so little is known about her at first glance . All she knows is she previously resided at the Eastern Air Temple , but does’t recall it being anything but ruins by the time she left ... She has a considerably good talent with Airbending , but is hesitant to reveal her bending abilities to avoid suspicion while searching for the Avatar , who she hopes is really out there somewhere . She has had her suspicions about the ‘ current ‘ Avatar not being genuine , but hasn’t been able to scrap up much proof . In the meantime , she’s been hanging around Ba Sing Se , just doing her best to get by . She is sometimes seen with a tan Siamese cat in tow , who she refers to as Shanti.

18 - Male - Fire Bender
A Firebender from a family pretty well off who insists that they are the best firebenders in the world. He, on the other hand, doesn't live up to this

His father is a reknowned military strategist for the fire nation, and his mother is a powerful firebender. He was/is childhood friends with Saizhin and Otoha.
Sairen

Twin brother is Kotam, parents are Konren & Asone, she has a baby pet boy dragon named Comet

Niece of the chief of the northern water tribe, her fathers are power alliance generals. She ran away from her home about half a year ago. Childhood friends will Sairen and Kotam. Her father killed Rotir's father.
Shen
17 - Female - Earthbender
A excitable bender from a small earth kingdom village who left for Ba sing se half a year ago. Discovered metal bending when she was 14 and is currently keeping it a secret. Friends with Hayo.
Neshi
14 - Female - Airbender
Her grandmother is Nerri, her cousin is Geshi, and she has two pets, a girl flying bison named Fuzz and a boy flying lemur named Nion

IC ;; Dahla didn't remember much , but what she did remember was that she was hungry .
After curving through the middle ring of Ba Sing Se , the copper haired young woman finally found what she was after . Of course , it was all for nothing since she had come to the city with little money to begin with , and would likely be leaving with less ( should she ever get around to leaving at all ) ... As she whistled lowly , perusing a stand , a Siamese cat weaved through her legs in tandem - watching as Dahla tipped her head from one side to the other . The feline almost seemed to grin as she pulled back her upper lip . With a swift movement , her tail lifted a low sitting loaf of bread , which she snatched in her teeth , hidden from sight by Dahla's robe .
As the cat tucked herself inside , the two moved towards a side street , and Dahla eagerly shrugged off her robe and took the bread from Shanti . " You did it again , you sneaky little feline , " Dahla chuckled , sitting down against a smooth stone wall and digging in to her meal . Well , if you could call it that . Eventually , she knew she'd have to find some way to make more money , but right now , she just felt like going with the flow . After all , she didn't have any pressing matters to deal with as of late ...

𝑩𝒂 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒆 would not be Senge's first choice of a city to lay low in. Sure with it's towering rings it was probably the safest place in the entire Earth Kingdom, but something about the way the shadows hung tight to the sides of buildings left him with an uneasy feeling in his chest. It felt like a city where a person could completely disappear in. A city where a neighbor could be erased entirely, a friend snatched from the streets, a family member snuffed out like a candle. And sure- it was better than anywhere the alliance had control over, but Senge couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong here.
Of course, he'd only been here for a few days. His sister Tashi had managed to find a job within city walls, and his parents thought it would be safer for him to go and live with her rather than stay in their village. There was logic to it- a smaller town was more likely a target for the alliance than a major city, but it still felt like betrayal when he left. I shouldn't be running away, he'd thought at the time. I'm a bender, I should be able to protect these people!
But in the end he still left.
Tashi tried her hardest to keep up his spirits. On his first day in the city, she'd taken him to the market and bought him a new lute. It was gorgeous in it's simplicity and every note sounded ethereal. It was the perfect instrument, and for an hour Senge had forgotten all about his home as he ran through chords and scales, his fingers plucking at the strings.
Of course this bliss didn't last long. After the first day, Tashi had to return to her job and they rarely saw each other. She would wake up before him and come home late at night. Senge was lucky if they had an hour to talk in a day.
So instead he spent his time wandering the city. Investigating every nook and cranny, every shady alleyway and crowded market. All his investigating was not painting the brightest picture of the city.
Today he was planning to head towards the center of the middle ring, where a string of nicer shops and restaurants stood in a neat little line. Maybe he'd buy something for his sister, maybe he'd just look around for a bit. Hopefully he'd find a distraction.
Walking out of the building which held his new home, Senge pulled out his lute, strumming a quiet melody and humming along as he navigated the still unfamiliar streets.

OOC ;; aH I can't decide if I want to get all four elements on me , or if I just wanna go with the one I fit in with best . I was also considering getting the white lotus piece on me somewhere . So many tattoo ideas , so little time . Also please forgive me if my roleplay skills are rusty omg , I haven't done this regularly in like ,,, a good semester's worth of time . ))
IC ;; The faint sound of music caused Shanti to turn her attention away from Dahla . A quick murmur came from her feline companion , and just like that , the cat set off after its call - leaving Dahla to watch after her as she forced the bread down her throat . " Hey , wait ! Shanti ! " She groaned inwardly as she pushed her to her feet .
Dahla quickly took off after the cat with a shake of her head , navigating through the city , sharp corners and winding paths finally letting out to the source of the sound . It caught her off guard , if only for a moment , but enough to cause her to skid to a halt . Something within her stirred , something small , and though there was no summer breeze passing through , her hair shifted as though she were heading into a storm .
Why does something about this feel ... so familiar ?
When she'd snapped out of it , she'd been met with Shanti approaching whoever had been playing , meowing loudly along to his tune enthusiastically . Without thinking , the redhead reached out a hand and swooped her arm up a bit too early , causing the cat to seemingly be thrust into the air as if by a strong wind before Dahla had quickly scooped her up . She looked to the stranger with a nervous chuckle , " Sorry about that , she uh , likes to participate you could say , " Dahla gave a slight frown to the cat , who otherwise wiggled out of her grasp and landed at her feet , blissfully unaware that she'd done anything wrong to begin with .

𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄 is a universal language. Rhythms, harmonies, each note holds a secret message. A message felt in the souls of those listening. Apparently, music was the language of cats as well.
Senge walked down the streets of Ba Sing Se, absorbed in his own little word. He ran through scales, practiced melodies, and most importantly completely ignored the people around him. At least that's how it was until the cat joined in. Normally he would be annoyed at the interruption, but there was no way he could be made at a little critter. Especially not one with such a musically inclined soul.
With a slight chuckle he turned towards the cat, walking sideways down the street while playing. He tried to match the animal's song as it tried to match his. The resulting melody was chaotic and messy- but oh boy was it fun! It was entertainment, a game that he had longed for ever since he walked into the walled city. And of course, it was cut short.
Senge could have sworn that cat jumped 5 feet into the air- and for a split second he was worried that his carelessness had caused him to bend in such a wide open space. But I couldn't have right? That cat must just have like, super jump powers...
Looking up at the creature's owner he bit back a sigh. People were far less interesting than cats.
"No no, it's fine," he reassured the stranger. "She has a wonderful voice, was she professionally trained?" He had to restrain himself from laughing at his own joke, but the image of a cat going through vocal training was very amusing to him. "Are you from around here?" he asked after a moment. Something about the girl seemed different than most of the people from the city. He just couldn't place his finger on what.
