History
Our story begins with love. Not a flirty, sweet love that makes butterflies soar through your stomach. No, this was an intense love that scorched the soul and was deeply passionate. The kind of romance that steals the very breath from your lungs and makes one incomplete without the other. Their love had torn apart their hearts and stitched them back together so that the only way they'd go on beating was when they were side by side.
Jayflight was a young warrior of CedarClan, he was thoughtful and cautious. He was a cat who always followed the rules, until him. One afternoon, while the pale gray warrior had just finished hunting near the border, the sound of a loud crash through the bushes caught him off guard. Jayflight went to investigate and found a large russet tom stuck in the brambles. His name was Roan. And this was only the beginning.
Roan was deeply hurt and reluctantly agreed to come back to camp with Jayflight to be treated by their medicine cat. The strange rogue ended up staying with CedarClan for a while, though he never seemed to warm up to anyone. He was snappy and cold, completely closed off. Jayflight seemed to be the only one who could communicate with him without getting his ears chewed off. The warrior took it upon himself to teach the large grump how to hunt in the forest territory and even how to climb some trees. The relationship slowly slipped from acquaintances to friends, to much, much more.
Then the day came when Mossystar, the leader of CedarClan at the time, declared that Roan was well enough that he should be on his way. Jayflight begged his leader to reconsider, for the chance for the gruff tom to join the clan but his clan mates didn't trust the tom at all. Roan was forced from the territory, chased out by a group of warriors including Jayflight's own father - Bluethorn. For many sunrises afterwards, the pale gray tabby wouldn't move from his nest - completely heart-broken. Eventually his sister, Ashwhisper, talked him into leaving the clan and going after the love of his life.
Roan had been skulking around the edges of the territory, waiting for Jayflight to come to him. With the two lovers reunited, the toms ran. They traveled far and wide, never settling in one place for very long. Eventually they ended up in some large city, which of course made Jayflight extremely uncomfortable. The two were huddling together in a cardboard box when a two-leg happened upon them and snatched them up. They were forced into a crate and put on a boat, made sick by the constant rocking of the waves.
One fateful night, a storm hit the ship. Their crate fell into the ocean and they drifted for a long while before washing up on the shore of an island that was barely inhibited by twolegs, mostly nature as far as the eye could see. A few other cats washed up on the shore from the wreck and others traveled from the twoleg village, but eventually a small group formed, with the lovers as the leaders. Jayflight and a young molly named Clear were the first ones to find Moon Pool and with the connection to StarClan, it seemed like it was destiny.
Roan became Russetstar and Jayflight became his deputy. They built the clan from the ground up, teaching themselves and others how to swim and fish. Clear became Clearwater, the first medicine cat and she explored the herbs that were native to the island to find new remedies. All this came to be because two toms chose love before all else. That's why romance is so important to the clan, because without it, we wouldn't have come to be.

I made us a banner! I was just messing around with GIMP and realized I might be able to pull something together...
I hope it looks nice, it's my first attempt at anything like this...
I also tried to help Morning by making her divider transparent, I don't know if I managed it. xD

So for the weather, personally I've always struggled with updating the weather section. It's just not reasonable. So when I was working on sunclans new page, I just wrote down what the normal climate for the season is and eventually when we change seasons I'll edit it to make the season and I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner
Having separate ranks could be fun

Forum rules must be followed at all times
Stay active and you'll get to have a lot of fun roleplaying major roles! Inactivity for too long may result in removal from the clan.
Please don't be upset if it takes a bit too accept your joining form or add your characters.
No God-modding whatsoever. Always get permission before rping or harming someone else's character. No splotlighting as well.
Characters must have detailed biographies. At least two sentences for appearance and personality each. Please keep characters realistic and do not make them perfect.
No spam! This means advertising, trolling, etc.. You can come in and ask someone to go to another thread but only post once and be polite. Members of the clan may advertise threads but only after asking politely.
I encourage members to chat but please remember to be respectful. If I see repeated disrespect of any kind (intentional exclusion, bullying, rudeness, etc.) you will receive a warning. When chatting, be sure to make it clear that what you are saying is OOC.
Keep all mature content grandma-friendly and not heavily detailed.
Nothing from this page may be used without permission. This includes artwork, storylines, information, and characters.
While this is not a super literate roleplay, I ask that you use correct grammar when roleplaying. No cursing in or out of character unless it's a fake curse like "Fiddlesticks".
As always, apprentices may not have mates or kits.
Living in the clan is dangerous. Many cats are killed, succumb to illness/injury, disappear, run away, etc. Please be open to losing your characters. It keeps things new and interesting. Remember all cats die eventually and rarely of old age.
Also I don't know where you guys want to stand on allowing or not allowing LGBT cats, I usually allow it so here's a rule for whichever you decide.
LGBT characters are accepted and welcome but remember that these cats might face some opposition from other characters in the rp and usually only for the purpose of drama. Never would I allow opposition to be shown OOC.
LGBT characters are currently not allowed. That being said, I would never allow discrimination to be shown towards any LGBT rpers.

I hope it was okay that I tried to turn the divider transparent. I didn't mean to try and steal your work or anything Morning, I just remember that you mentioned wanting it to be that way but transparency cost money! Sorry if I offended you in any way, it wasn't at all my intention~
I'm still reading through all the posts but a whether section could be manageable since we have more than one moderator to help keep us on track. ^^

Hm, I like the idea of them having different names for the seasons, since they have don't have a ton of trees covering the majority of their territory.
Maybe it can be tide related?
Summer - Low Tide - the water is pretty low during the warmer months, allowing for more prey to be caught.
Storm Tide - this is a time during the end of Low Tide and the beginning of Quick Tide, where tropical storms are incredibly common.
Fall - Quick Tide - coming down from Storm Tide, the waters are still a bit choppy and can be a bit harsher to swim against.
Winter - High Tide - during the colder season, the water is high and freezing, making it a bit dangerous to swim in due to hypothermia.
Spring - Slow Tide - the water is beginning to calm itself down and storms are very rare during this season, though it does rain often.
I did no research however and have based this all on the tide, we can change it to base on the climate, I'm just spinning off ideas. xD
As for having different ranks, it's an interesting idea. I'm guessing it would be similar to the Tunnelers of WindClan? Like they're still average warriors they just have an extra job?

Camp
CoastalClan make their camp high on Clearwater beach, where there is little chance for them to be flooded by even the highest of tides. The clan still prepares for the worst however and their nests are built from reeds and woven in a way that allows them to float. The camp is settled in deep within the tall beach grasses, encircled by large rocks and pieces of driftwood. The driftwood is sharp in areas and has been fortified to give the camp the appearance of a fortress beside the sea. Inside the camp is nice and airy, with a sand and grass floor. The sky is open and visible from nearly all angles, though there are little alcoves built into the camp walls for shelter when it rains. Only three dens reside within the camp, as most all CoastalClan cats sleep out under the stars.
There is a wide clearing in the center with a smooth rock jutting out at the edge - this is Sun Rock, where the leader calls important clan meetings. Surrounding the clearing is softer sand, where the grasses have been flattened and worn, this is where nests are set up. Each cat usually has one nest that they made when they became an apprentice but placement is purely up to the felines. Families and friends often group together, no matter the ages. The fresh kill pile rests on a pile of frond leaves and reeds in a small underground cave, which can be accessed through a tunnel. The cave is nearly always cool, which keeps prey fresher for longer amounts of time.
Leader Den - This den is settled on the back side of Sun Rock, made out of another rock which leans against it and creates a small but cozy little den for the leader and their mate, if they have one.
Medicine Den - The medicine cat den is by far the largest den, built to accommodate at least three patients plus the medicine cat and their apprentice. It's built from a large hollowed out piece of driftwood, which is settled close to the camp wall. Cats have carved shelves into the wood over time with their claws, leaving a great space for storage.
Nursery - The nursery is a heavily protected den made up of palm leaves, reeds, and driftwood. The entrance is around the side and hard to see if you're not accustomed to looking for it. Inside it's as roomy as the den could be made with soft grass and moss placed down on the floor to keep the queens and kits comfortable.

Also I have an idea for some special ranks inspired by a friend's clan. Rain were you part of Pineclan?
Patrol cats - They're usually out of camp watching the territory. The deputy will assign each cat a night or day shift and all patrol cats report back to the deputy. They are the ones who mark borders and keep the clan safe from outside threats.
Hunters - They prowl the forests looking for food. They also keep track of the homes of any dangerous animals like eagle nests and fox dens.
Fishers - though every cat is trained to swim and fish, Fishers are professionals and trained at a much higher extent that others and can safely navigate the churning ocean waters. A team of the best fishers may be able to take down bigger fish
Collectors - These cats search for resources in the land And usually have basic medicine training. They'll often help take care of the queens and kits as well. (The last line was my friends idea and If I remember correctly she added it to prevent perma-queens)
Guards - these are a subrank of the Patrol cats but they specialize in protecting the camp. They also do odd jobs around the camp such as minor maintenance and upkeep. Many Patrol cats are also Guards and will switch duties on occasion.
The Council - not quite a rank in and of itself, as the members of this rank are members of another rank. Being part of this rank is a high honor as there are only three or four cats on it and they work very closely with the leader and deputy. Most often the members will be older warriors but it isn't uncommon to see a younger warrior in their ranks
