"I'll meet you there." Twigpaw mewed, brushing against Splashecho before getting to his paws. "Goodnight Splashecho."
Springpaw got to her paws as well, nodding to her mother. "Good night." She mewed softly before disappearing into the apprentice's den.

Redspring turned to look at Ashfeather, her eyes flashing with concern as she asked. “What? What’s wrong?”
Echowing shouldered past her clanmates into camp, refusing to speak to anyone. She’d never have to see Frostyfoot again, and it had been utterly gratifying to see them both banished… and yet, the more she thought about it, the angrier it made her. Frostyfoot and Opalmist had left together, far less upset than Echowing wanted. It wasn’t fair! How could they possibly be so… so content! And now, nobody seemed to understand why she had to do this!
Emberpaw had awoken from her sleep, as Goldfire seemed to cut their nightly session short. She poked her head from the apprentice’s den, looking confused and concerned.

Ashfeather took a deep breath, fear flashed in his mind as he thought about them suddenly changing their opinions and feelings about him. "My father... he's a Shadowclan warrior. I don't even know if he knows about me and Shadowmask because our mother died before we were out of the nursery. But, she told us about him, I just wanted you to know that I'm half-clan too."

She looked at him with a sincere look behind her tired eyes. “What your parents did doesn’t define you. You’re just as dedicated to Skyclan as Willownose or I. Did you think this would make us think lesser of you?”

Whisperstone gave Dreamlily an understanding nod but couldn't help the small stab of pain in his chest. He loved both his sisters, and he hated seeing the two at odds. As upset as he was with Echowing, he couldn't bring himself to turn his back on her completely. "We... we should get back to camp soon. I'm sure the others have already returned by now..." He trailed off, feeling dread at the thought of facing his clanmates now. Firepaw padded towards the apprentices' den, his ear flicking as he thought over the events of the Gathering. He glanced back at where Spotteddawn and Cometblaze had gone, having seen the worried looks on his parents' faces as they had left the Gathering. They had both broken the warrior code as well, and Cometblaze had been exiled from ThunderClan as a result. What if Spiritstar changed her mind about them and decided they should leave too? Dreamlily sighed deeply. “Yes, I… guess we probably should. The last thing we need is to be mauled by these new beasts out here…” She stood to her paws, looking guilty as she walked. “I’m sorry for running away. I just couldn’t take the stares…”

“I know… it’s okay, you have every right to be upset.” Whisperstone said, starting to make his way back to camp. His paws felt like they were made of stone, and felt like they were dragging as he walked. Everything had worn him out, and now he just wanted to curl up in his nest and go to sleep.

His paws felt like they were made of stone, and felt like they were dragging as he walked. Everything had worn him out, and now he just wanted to curl up in his nest and go to sleep. Dreamlily nodded slowly to her brother, each step approaching the camp entrance feeling heavier than stone. She averted her eyes as she padded in, unable to stomach the looks and murmurs from their clanmates, even though they were mostly of concern for her and Whisperstone. She bristled as she caught Echowing's fresh scent. She would be moving her nest far from her sister from here on, the moment she got into the Warrior's den. "Dreamlily! Whisperstone!" Nettlesting rushed up to the other young Warriors, relief in his eyes. "You took so long to get back, I was nervous you had left!... I'm really sorry, about..." He trailed off, not knowing what to say about what had happened.

Did you think this would make us think lesser of you?” "Redspring is right. You've always been a loyal SkyClan cat." Willownose reassured. "And after tonight, I don't want to think about challenging someone over their lineage." She looked at Ashfeather, wondering if he had more of a ShadowClan build than a SkyClan build.

(Ashfeather definitely has a Shadowclan build, it's why he struggles to hunt so much on Skyclan territory :3 )
Ashfeather let out a breath, relieved that neither of them seemed too phased by his revelation. He stood pressing his nose to Redspring and then Willownose's ears. "Okay, thank you. I just wanted you to know. I'm loyal to Skyclan though and Skyclan only. You two, Shadowmask and the rest of our clan are all I would ever fight for."

Whisperstone looked up in surprise when Nettlesting approached them, giving a small flick of his ear, “No… no, we aren’t leaving.” He mewed, looking at Dreamlily. He felt a sudden sense of determination as he turned back to Nettlesting, “We just needed some time alone to process everything. I’m sorry if we worried everyone.” Whisperstone continued, dipping his head apologetically to his clanmates.

“Good.” Redspring nodded quickly, feeling a bit better at the touch of his nose. She looked at Willownose and Ashfeather, steeling herself from her pain. “Thank you both… for being here. It’s going to be hard, but. I’m glad I don’t have to be alone. I can believe that Frostyfoot will be happy, wherever he goes…” She sighed.
Nettlesting nodded quickly, his ears flicking as he scoffed lightly. “Between you both and me, that part of the code is stupid. For all I know, I could be half-clan too, seeing as my mother never told us who our father is.” He shook the faint bitterness away, before he promised. “Skyclan’s lucky to have you both, no matter what anyone says, so I’ve got your back.”

Ashfeather gave her a somber smile, "You'll never be alone Redspring. And it looked like Frostyfoot will be just fine with Opalmist. Maybe they can finally live in peace now."

“Thank you, Nettlesting.” Whisperstone said, flicking his ear. He glanced around the camp, noticing the stares from some of his clanmates and felt his pelt twitch. He looked back at Dreamlily, “It’s been a long night. We should get some rest.” He suggested to her.
Whitesun started towards Spiritstar’s den, wanting to check in on her. The banishment of Frostyfoot and Opalmist had taken him by surprise, having not expected either of the leaders to exile the both of them. “Spiritstar?” He called out, wondering if she had gone to sleep already.

“I’d like to sleep.” Dreamlily rasped, quickly slipping past Nettlesting with her head ducked. She couldn’t bear to look at her clanmates. Thankfully, it seemed that Echowing was not yet in the Warrior’s den. Dreamlily made it a point to harshly pull at her nest, dragging it to the edge of the den, as tucked away from everyone else and as far from Echowing’s as she could. She stared at Frostyfoot’s empty nest for a moment, before moving to steal the moss and feathers from it, just to keep his scent close to her.
Redspring nodded slowly. “I hope so… I know I abide by the code, but it doesn’t mean I would have ever wanted to see Frostyfoot unhappy.”
Spiritstar was taking a few tired breaths in her den. She had just finished giving Echowing a sharp scolding in her den, and the she-cat had left with a dejectedly angry look. Spiritstar’s heart ached as she thought of what she had to do earlier, and prayed that Starclan would take mercy on Frostyfoot and Opalmist, wherever they decided to go. She turned her head as Whitesun approached, her eyes flickering with heaviness.
“Whitesun… has the clan settled well enough, do you think?”

“For the most part.” Whitesun said, sitting down in front of her and curling his tail over his paws. “Dreamlily and Whisperstone have just returned and gone back to the warriors’ den. There are still a few cats that are still up though, most likely talking about what happened at the Gathering. I think most of them are still reeling from it.” He added, his yellow eyes meeting Spiritstar’s gaze. Whitesun paused for a moment, his ear flicking in concern, “Are you alright, Spiritstar?” He asked.
Whisperstone followed after his sister, watching as she dragged her nest far away from Echowing’s. He looked between where Dreamlily had settled down and where his own nest was, feeling conflicted on if he should move as well to comfort Dreamlily or to leave his nest where it was. Heaving a sigh, he went towards his nest, stopping to snag one of the feathers from Frostyfoot’s nest that Dreamlily had missed. Nudging his nest gently, he slowly moved it so that it would rest a few paces from Dreamlily’s, but not completely as far from Echowing’s nest. He tucked the feather into his nest gently before curling up in it, resting the tip of his tail on his nose and closing his eyes.

“Thank Starclan, they’re back safely… I had concerns, knowing that prey-maulers are now something we need to watch for. I want to believe that I made the best decision I could, though I know that it’s impossible to be the perfect decision.” Spiritstar sighed softly, before she looked at her deputy. “Some may think I did it because I felt pressured after Cedarstar’s quick decision. I want you to know, Whitesun, that I did it because I could not bear to know that one of my Warriors would be faced with such a decision. Opalmist does not belong in Skyclan… and Frostyfoot clearly still had his paw in two worlds. So, I removed one of the worlds.”
She sat in her nest, not laying in it, but closing her eyes. “Starclan removes connections from medicine cats for different reasons. Mine was altered for leadership. I cannot read signs any longer. I do not receive visions. I do not sense things as I once did… but I know the signs of a cat who has, and Opalmist did. If Starclan cut her off, then I cannot deny this was the path set for her. I take solace knowing she will not walk alone, after her moons of service. To give up being a mother to serve Shadowclan, it was both wise and foolish.” She mused.

Whitesun listened quietly as Spiritstar spoke, giving a light flick of his tail tip. “You made the decision you thought was best. Not just for SkyClan, but for both Frostyfoot and Opalmist as well.” He said finally with a sigh. “They broke both warrior and medicine cat codes, it was bound to come out eventually. I just wish it hadn’t happened in front of the other clans at the same time. I noticed Echowing leave your den a little bit ago, she didn’t look to happy despite the fact that she got what she wanted.” He observed.

I cannot trust her on patrols if she refuses to see how her actions affect others… I don’t like punishing my clanmates, but… Echowing is brimming with an anger that concerns me.” Spiritstar admitted darkly, heart aching. “I fear it will become her greatest downfall.”

Whitesun shifted uneasily, his ear flicking in concern, “You don’t think she’s been influenced by someone, do you?” He asked, his mind instantly thinking of the Dark Forest. The idea of it sent the fur along his shoulders briefly before he forced it to lay flat. “I have noticed that she has been distant lately, but I didn’t think it was this bad.”

I pray that she isn’t.” Spiritstar mewed softly, before she shook her head. “Hiding that secret when it clearly brought her so much pain, it can manifest into anger, an outlet that’s preferable to sadness. I hope to remind her and her siblings that they have nothing to fear. I would be a hypocrite to punish them for their blood, seeing as I myself am a half-clan cat… and seeing as who my kin are.” She mewed.

Willownose looked conflicted at that. "He may have been unhappy at the Gathering, but Ashfeather is right. Maybe being with Opalmist away from the Clans will provide him some peace. He still had to give up everything else, though." she mewed, twitching her ear. "That's the tradeoff for breaking the code."

“Frostyfoot knew that Echowing was angry with him. I always assumed it was because we all thought he had mated with a rouge and she felt upset by that… but it makes much more sense now. Even so, Frostyfoot loved all his kits so much. He was always the one who wanted them, between the two of us growing up. Echowing destroyed his life and future in Skyclan… but he said he loved her all the same, even in the face of exile.” She took a deep breath.

Ashfeather nodded slowly, he couldn't help his mind from wandering toward thoughts of kits, especially now that his sister was expecting her second litter. "Nothing should be more unconditional than a parent's love for their kits, but it still wasn't enough. I don't think Frostyfoot could have done anything to make Echowing happy."

“I agree. The anger in her voice… nothing could change that kind of anger…” Redspring sighed lightly, feeling a bit guilty, as if she hadn’t been a good aunt. Could she have changed this, if she had tried to soothe Echowing’s anger. She admitted. “I want to make sure they at least know they’ll still have me, even if Frostyfoot isn’t here…”

“I’m sure they know you wouldn’t banish them for the decisions of their parents. It is no fault of their own that they chose to break the warrior code.” Whitesun said, flicking his ear. He paused for a moment as he considered the warning of the prey-maulers that Cedarstar spoke. He thought of the ShadowClan leader with light irritation, not having liked the way he had spoken to Spiritstar about controlling her own warriors. “There is another matter we should discuss. These… prey-maulers, as Cedarstar called them. If these things are out and about in our territories and possibly twolegplace, should we consider canceling the Twolegplace patrols?” He asked.

"I thought about that for a while." Spiritstar nodded in understanding, a bit more energized now that they were talking about a more prevalent threat. She shook her head lightly. "If anything, having a somewhat alliance with Thunderclan is beneficial. If these prey-maulers harm our Warriors, the herbs we've been trading with Thunderclan will be of good use. That, and the Twolegplace hunting patrols are larger than an average hunting patrol. Combined strength may be crucial, especially if these creatures are present in Twolegplace. For now, I believe the best option will be to continue them to allow the clans to restore territory in enough time to get us through leafbare in the next 6 moons." Spiritstar admitted. She looked at Whitesun, valuing his opinion. "What do you believe would be the best course of action? Your opinion holds much weight, Whitesun. You know I will always listen to it seriously."

Blackfire padded alongside Quickwing and looked over at her sister, her ear flicking in irritation. “I can’t believe Echowing would do something so foolish. She should’ve taken this up with Spiritstar and let her handle things instead of taking matters into her own paws.” She huffed, feeling her shoulder fur bristle. “Just imagine what the other clans are saying about us now.” She growled. Spotteddawn padded into camp, looking back at Cometblaze as she did. “Let’s go over here.” She murmured to him quietly, leading the way to a secluded part of the camp.
