“I don’t think anyone can. It’s a difficult climb for even the most senior of warriors.” Hawkpaw mewed, shivering when she thought back to seeing Emberpaw barely hanging on at the top of the cliffs. “Have mother and father come to see you yet? They’ve already scolded me earlier.” She mewed.
“At least we still have trees that haven’t been completely burned down.” Firepaw commented, looking around the territory as they walked. “How long do you think it’ll take for everything to grow back?” He asked.
Frostlight flicked her ear at his response, was Withermist worried about the queen’s kitting then? Briarpatch still had a couple moons at least until she was to have her kits. She glanced back at the nursery again, wondering what it would be like to have kits of her own one day. Truthfully, she hadn’t thought much about it until recently when her own mother had announced that she was expecting her second litter. At Withermist’s next words, she blinked in surprise and looked back at him, giving him a small smile, “Really? I’m happy to see you too.” She purred, feeling warmth spread throughout her pelt.
Rainkit looked at Ledgekit when he spoke and gave a shrug, “I guess…” she mewed quietly, looking over to the snoozing elder. What if he didn’t want to be bothered by a bunch of kits? She certainly wouldn’t want that.

She certainly wouldn’t want that. “Mother has, constantly. But the medicine cats shooed everyone out after a bit. Father’s probably busy, he’s got more than me to worry about as deputy.” Emberpaw admitted, knowing that Whitesun had tried to see her, but she had been too ashamed to allow any more visitors in, especially with Spiritstar resting. She did want her father’s comfort though, but felt she didn’t deserve it. “I’d say, a full twelve moon cycle, at least.” Buzzardfall admitted. “Stories of great fires before this one tended to take that long.” She swished her tail lightly against the bark of a tree, feeling for any dead bark. “Most cats don’t come over to me.” Withermist rasped, though he did not seem offended or upset by it. Rather, he gave a curious look. “I think… I look odd. Maybe. My voice is funny. And… uhm.” He pawed at the ground a bit, before he put his paw at his belly again and frowned. “I feel things, alot. Lots of things.” He brightened suddenly, purring. “Your heart is beautiful. Frostlight. It’s good. I’m lucky to be seen by you.”

Willowkit was wandering outside camp, like she wasn't meant to be doing. The young molly was having the time of her life. At one point she heard something. Feral instincts kicked in and she leapt, wiggling her haunches in that cute but also terrifying way before a feline's pounce. She narrowed her eyes and growled as something crawly slithered from underneath her.
The she-kit stared at the thing before her, crouched and low as she prepared her next attack. The beetle flitted it's wings, but clearly they had been damaged. 'Mother' The thought went through her head and she picked up the six-legged creature, it's spiky limbs tickling and pinching her maw. Willowkit turned, expecting to behold the sight of the camp entrance, her legs weren't tired so that meant she hadn't gone very far. But as it is, the forgetful kitten had forgotten where she was. Following her gut instinct, Willowkit went, and went, and went...and went. Farther and Farther she trudged, slowly gaining greater distance between camp. Slowly, but surely, she did.

Warblerpaw returned her nod, a little giddy at the chance to take charge like a warrior would. "I suppose that's better," he meowed. "If my moth- if Spiritstar allows you refuge, at least you'll be useful. Why'd you get kicked out of other rogues' groups?" “I never really was kicked out of any just never seemed welcome anywhere which is why I became a loner!” Pond replied. “It’s not too bad,” She paused for a second. “Just really lonely.” She sighed.

Moonblazer (sorry didn't see!) Willowkit leaped into the elders' den, sniffing around the nests and staring at all the old cats. Which one could be Lichengaze? She looked to Tricklefrost, her eyes wide. "Which one is Lichengaze, do they tell good stories?"

She looked to Tricklefrost, her eyes wide. "Which one is Lichengaze, do they tell good stories?" “Lichengaze is easy to spot.” Tricklefrost teased. “Because he’s the only elder in the den.” She flicked her tail towards the old tom, sunning on his rock. As soon as the kits approached though, Lichengaze’s eyes opened, and he lifted his head with a welcoming purr. “A visit for me? Hello, Willowkit, Rainkit, Ledgekit and of course, Sunnykit.” He looked at each kit warmly, before he rested his paws under his chest leisurely.

Moonblazer Willowkit bounded up to him and sat down, her paws tapping the ground eagerly. "Can you tell a story, maybe one about war?" She asked innocently.

Plumwillow nodded. So, her hunch had been correct. Pond was from lands far beyond what any of the Clans knew. That was why her scent was a new one for the Warrior’s nose.
“War? That’s a pretty heavy subject for kits… how about I tell you about a battle instead? It’s been a very long time since we’ve had a War to tell a story about.” Lichengaze inquired, though it was clear that a flicker of guilt filled his eyes. He had no intention of recalling Adderclan and what he had done all those moons ago. He offered. “Skyclan has had some interesting quarrels on the borders.”

Moonblazer "War," Willowkit met the elder's gaze with determination. "I want war, I want BLOODSHED!" Willowkit mewed eagerly, she wanted to learn about how cats got scars, new battle moves, how to take on her enemies, she wanted to learn about the legendary warriors that could wipe out armies with a claw. The kitten had fallen over and was chuckling to herself, her laugh hiss-like.

“Bloodshed isn’t fun, Willowkit.” Tricklefrost mewed sternly, the queen lashing her tail. “A true Warrior never yearns for blood, and only draws it to defend their Clan. You must be careful with that line of thinking. Cats who have only cared for battle always make the greatest damage to the Clan.” She shook her head, sighing deeply.
“I have no Wars to share anyway.” Lichengaze shrugged lightly. “Though, if it’s battle training you want, you’ll learn plenty from your mentor when you become an apprentice soon. But, keeping our current peace is good, especially after the awful fire we had.”

Moonblazer Willowkit crouched low to the ground, fur bristling as she prepared to defend herself. The young kitten might have gotten used to the Clan, but her days of being a loner were still right behind her. Her eyes narrowed and her fur had bushed up, but she remained silent. Realizing it was safe, she stood and flattened her fur, blinking at Tricklefrost. "Sorry," The kitten turned to the elder and bowed her head quickly. "What was the funniest thing you've seen?" She asked, suddenly having the urge to laugh of the attention.

Tricklefrost relaxed quickly, eyes softening as she saw Willowkit’s bristling defense. She would never hurt the kit, though inwardly she was always weary of the influence of darker cats. The Dark Forest trailed around still, and she always feared they’d try and tempt her kits. She only wanted to keep Willowkit safe. She offered. “I can show you some battle moves later, if you like. That might tide you over.”
Lichengaze looked between Tricklefrost and Willowkit, before he tried to lighten the mood. “Besides Tricklefrost getting stuck in the camp wall as an apprentice?” He teased, chuckling as the Queen rolled her eyes with a snort. “The funniest thing I’ve ever seen was when a spider got into one of the Riverclan apprentice’s pelt at a gathering. The poor thing got so startled, he knocked right into Falcontalon and nearly knocked him over. They’re built awfully big over in Riverclan. Luckily, Falcontalon found the humor in it, for a Shadowclan cat.” He snickered.
“An apprentice nearly knocked over a Shadowclan Warrior?” Sunnykit exclaimed.
“Shadowclan’s deputy! At the time, that is. Now, Cloudscar is Shadowclan’s deputy, but Falcontalon’s an elder now, like me.”

"Not very," Warblerpaw answered. He'd also darted away to collect the remainder of their catch. "Though, I'm not sure if she'll be accepting visitors at the moment." He flicked an ear. Spiritstar's life was recovered, but she was still resting in the medicine den. He wasn't sure it was wise to let an outsider see her in such a state. "Has Whitesun's patrol returned?" he asked Plumwillow.

“Well. We’re at the camp now.” Plumwillow winked, knowing she would have to take responsibility for this one. “Pond, bring the bird in with you and stick close.” She nodded, before she shook her head to Warblerpaw. “He’s still out, I think. Patrol’s longer when Whitesun leads it.”
As soon as she pushed into the camp entrance, she prepared herself for her Clanmate’s gazes. She could see Dreamlily perking her ears curiously, while her sister Starlingdust seemed to bristle at the newcomer. Nettlesting perked up the most, wide-eyed and intreauged. Did this strange cat know Lolo?
“Another one?” Redspring hissed deeply, tail lashing as Frostyfoot tried to calm her with a gentle brush of his tail.
“Why do they have prey in their jaws?”
Lilith watched from the shaded corner of camp, the dark she-cat’s eyes flickering with a musing interest. It seemed like another stray was picked up.

“I’m sure Whitesun will come see you as soon as he can.” Hawkpaw reassured her. She turned her head when she heard a commotion coming from the camp clearing and flicked her ear, “I wonder what’s going on out there. Want to come with me to check it out?” She mewed, giving Emberpaw a nudge.
“There have been fires here before?” Firepaw asked, pausing to look at the surrounding trees.
Frostlight gave a shake of her head, “Well, then those cats are bird brains for avoiding you. They don’t realize that they’re missing out on hanging out with a great cat.” She mewed with a purr. She turned her head when a new scent entered the camp and bristled lightly, “Looks like Plumwillow and Warblerpaw have found another stray wandering around our territory.” She mewed, eyeing the loner warily.
Rainkit shivered at the mention of war and bloodshed, not liking the idea of such a scary story. Glad that the elder steered away from the topic, she listened as he spoke, ears perked in interest. Rainkit started at the sudden tension in camp and looked at the entrance, quickly hiding behind her mother at the sight of the stranger.

Emberpaw hesitated for a moment, before she slowly pulled to her paws. She stopped though, as Plumwillow and Warblerpaw seemed to be leading an unknown cat right towards them. Without hearing a noise, Spiritstar had already risen to her paws, slipping gently past Hawkpaw and Emberpaw as she stepped out of the medicine den.
“Plumwillow. Warblerpaw. Who is this?” Spiritstar asked, the silver she-cat neither stern nor gentle as she addressed the approaching group. She eyed the bird in Pond’s jaws with a hint of concern and suspicion.
Withermist was about to respond to Frostlight, only to turn his head quickly as the new cat was brought into camp. He tipped his head, rasping out. “Oh… They look… hm. Far away…” He commented to the air.
Sunnykit bounced with curiosity, though she was quickly ushered to her mother’s side alongside her siblings. Tricklefrost bristled, not risking this newcomer near her kits.

Buzzardfall mused. “A bad fire struck from the Shadowclan border many moons ago. They lost two of their Warriors, but the damage was harsh to the trees near the border. They’ve grown back of course, but the border was scorched for a long time.”

Moonblazer "I would've been so scared!" Willowkit piped up, her fuzzy ears twitching with interest. "Why are cats scared of spiders?" The kitten tilited her head, her eyes searching the den as if she was looking for one of the tiny arachnids.

Warblerpaw dipped his head to Spiritstar.
"She calls herself Pond," he meowed. "We found her near the border of RiverClan and ThunderClan; she caught this prey on our territory."
He flicked his tail to usher the loner forward to speak for herself.

Pond shrunk in her pelt as she entered what the cats called camp. All the strange cat’s gazes made her fur burn under her skin. Suddenly she felt really bad for giving Plumwillow and Warblerpaw all the attention as well.
They walked into a den with a strange scent and in there was a gray and black she-cat sprawled out in the center which must be the leader. "She calls herself Pond," Warblerpaw introduced. "We found her near the border of RiverClan and ThunderClan; she caught this prey on our territory." He meowed before gesturing with his tail for Pond to step forward.
Pond bent down and put down the bird she had caught in front of what the cats called their leader. She shifted her paws nervously before beginning.“Hello! My name is Pond like Warblerpaw said.” She began. “I’m a loner that just wants a place to call home. I caught this bird on your territory not knowing that the land was already taken. And I apologize for that.” She continued with a polite dip of her head. “Warblerpaw and Plumwillow found me and gave me an opportunity to help out in your group! And if you, their leader, would accept me, I would be very happy to serve you cats for however long I’m allowed too!” Pond explained, not so afraid anymore.
The she-cat looked kind and willing to help. Pond prayed in her heart that she might have a chance to finally have a home.

“Because they have so many legs!” Lichengaze explained with a rusty purr, though his eyes shot over to the medicine den, where cats were beginning to gather to warily see the strange cat that was brought in.
Spiritstar listened to Warblerpaw as he spoke, turning to look at Pond and the bird with the faintest hint of bewilderment. She remained quiet, though it was quickly flooded with whispers, some cats seeming to be impressed, others prickling with anger that a loner had been hunting on Skyclan territory.
Spiritstar stood to her paws and eyed the bird. She supposed that it was quite an offering, if this loner had been willing to leave the prey without a fight. She had a feeling her son would have had a good reason to allow Plumwillow to extend a possible opportunity for the loner. She carefully inspected Pond, before she mewed simply. “Had you nothing to show for it, I would not be keen to consider it. Not because I spite you, but because our Clan is already at a capacity where more mouthes to feed would be a danger to us.”
“Spiritstar…” Redspring urged, looking cowed, before Spiritstar lifted her tail to gently silence the stern she-cat. Redspring obeyed, stepping back but looking at Pond with sharp eyes.
“You seek refuge. But Skyclan will not be a rest stop for wandering cats. If you stay, then you would stay indefinitely. If your hunting is already trained, then you save us alot of time and energy needed to teach you. We have already had a loner wisely return to their home in Twolegplace… but I have a feeling this may be different. Clan life is demanding, when you become a Skyclan cat, you serve your clan with your life. There will be dangers here beyond your belief. There is no shame in not staying, but the only chances I offer are in full, not in part.”
Spiritstar looked at Warblerpaw and Plumwillow then. “Do you believe Pond, when she says she caught this bird? Do you believe she could be aid to Skyclan instead of a hinderance?” She tested, wanting to see Warblerpaw’s resolve even though her mind was already made up.

Moonblazer Willowkit had lost interest and was staring at the newcomer. 'An outsider, like me?' The she-kit had stepped out of the elder's den and little in front of the crowd, her eyes wide with awe.

Warblerpaw lifted his voice so all the gathered cats could hear him, aware of the expectations of a leader's son.
"I do believe she caught this bird. The scent was fresh when we found her," he said evenly. "This cat does not seem to be a threat, but she has joined and left other groups in the past, if what she says is to be believed."
He shifted his paws before continuing, aware that though Spiritstar was his mother, he was an apprentice speaking to a leader, as well.
"If I may," he said, dipping his head in a show of respect. "I propose that, if she is to become a Clan cat, she should have to prove her worth, first."

Hawkpaw watched the interaction from the entrance of the medicine den next to Emberpaw and looked over at her sister, wondering what she thought of this newcomer.
Firepaw shook his fur at the thought of the fire that had ravaged all of the Clans’ territories, hoping he would never have to experience something like that in his lifetime again, “So, which tree do you want me to climb then?” He prompted his mentor, wanting to change the subject.
Rainkit peeked out from behind Tricklefrost’s fur and watched as the stranger spoke with Spiritstar, eyeing Pond warily.
Frostlight tapped her tail tip on the ground, watching Spiritstar and Pond carefully, “Hm. I suppose you have a point. She doesn’t look like any of the normal kittypets that like to wander into our territory.” She said with a huff.
Whitesun padded into camp, leading his border patrol made up of Spotteddawn, Whisperstone and Sunpaw. He paused at the sight before them before dismissing his patrol and starting towards Spiritstar to see what was going on.
Mudwasp was perched on a cliff and watched the gathering of cats with an annoyed lash of his tail. It figures another stray had found their way to SkyClan’s camp.
