Spiderpaw was grumbling about Flyingpaw when he slipped back into the medicine den. He went over to the herb stores to check if anything needed dried in the sun.

Lavendersky shifted her weight when she heard Spiderpaw come into the den. As for recent, she had done fewer and fewer trips outside of the camp, preferring to be nearer to the den and working around there than gathering supplies. She knew Spiderpaw could handle the heavy lifting, where she could never even climb a tree for certain things they needed. "You are grumblier than a badger digging a den." She meowed as one of her quips about Spiderpaw. The grumbliest apprentice, as she tended to call him.

"Well, when Flyingpaw is throwing rocks on your head, you'd be grumpy too!" Spiderpaw huffed. "I swear the newest apprentices don't have a lick of sense in them sometimes!"

Lavendersky rolled her glazed over eyes as she listened to him, "I would have much rather had these apprentice when I was your age. Dealing with mysterious injuries and a war brewing thanks to your insane siblings who hated half-clan and non-clan blood was not a a joyful experience." Lavendersky snorted as she turned her head in his direction.

Spiderpaw tired to hide his sigh. There she went again, talking about how things used to be when she was younger. He decided to change the subject, not wanting another long lecture about how he should be grateful he wasn't born around AdderClan. "Are there any herbs we're low on?"

"Or falling on our heads!" Spiderpaw added harshly. Flyingpaw flinched lightly at Redspring's scolding, but mostly at Spiderpaw's outburst. She perked up at the thought of climbing trees. "I'm ready, Redspring! I love climbing!" Redspring snorted lightly at Spiderpaw's snap, always having a bit of a fondness for the sharp tom. He was blunt and knew his business, and she respected that. Looking at Flyingpaw, the red furred she-cat flicked her tail and turned towards the camp entrance. "Good. Enthusiasm is half of the training. The rest is focusing and practicing. Tell me what we learned about Skyclan's trees, and why we climb them." She started. |

Spiderpaw flicked his ear. He just asked her, why was she testing him? "Well, there's plenty of yarrow, but looks like we're low on feverfew. With leaf-bare coming up, I should go look for some."
"Because that's where the life is!" Flyingpaw bounced after her mentor. "All the prey we eat, all the herbs we find, they're all mostly in the trees! There's nothing on the ground except boulders, rocks, and roots!"

They allow us to survey any part of our territory to keep it safe. Climbing trees trains our leg muscles for jumping and fighting as well. No other clan climbs like we can." She mewed, a hint of pride in her voice. "We'll start with the moderately sized trees before we even think about getting to the largest ones." |

Lavendersky flicked an ear at him, not letting on her sense of smell had bee failing her as of late, making it difficult for the blind she-cat. "Then that is what you should gather then." She said simply.

Spiderpaw huffed. "I suppose next time I won't even ask you." He shook his pelt out and sat down to lick his paws. Having just been outside, he didn't want set out looking for feverfew just yet. "Has anyone come in with any injuries while I was gone?"

Once you can prove your skills on smaller trees, then we can introduce you to larger ones. I promise you, if you try to climb past your limits, the effects can be fatal...I will not let that happen. It's my job to never let that happen." Redspring explained. |

"Your sister Sandspirit came in with a torn claw earlier, I believe she tore it climbing a tree again." Lavendersky meowed, shaking her head. She wondered how the bad luck that followed Whitesand around managed to pass down to a kit he never raised.

Willownose flicked her tail. “Nothing wrong with taking initiative. It’s nice to get things done, especially with what happened at camp.” She thought to herself for a moment. She wondered how her family would’ve reacted to this if they were still alive. “Do you want to tell them when we return?” She asked.
