Cliffheart leaned his head into Lavendersky's pelt. Spiritstar was dead. His little, hopeful sister was really gone? He sucked in a shaky breath and huffed it out with a quiet sob. Owlshadow, Scorchfire, Hiddendream, now Spiritstar and Lavendersky? Why was StarClan being so cruel to him? Why was he the last one left? He thought Spiritstar would outlive him. With her nine lives, he believed she'd live as long a Northstar. His tears fell on Lavendersky's pelt. Guilt clawed his heart. Lavendersky believed he'd gone to StarClan? How could he tell her the truth? He'd died once and StarClan wasn't there for him. Now, Spiritstar was gone just like Owlshadow. "I'm not welcome in StarClan," he admitted with a weak whisper. "Lavendersky...I'll never see you or Spiritstar again, but I love you. I love you and Spiritstar and Owlshadow and Hiddendream. I need you to tell them that." He swallowed a lump in his throat. I need you to not leave me.(Please let me know if I overstep somewhere. Sometimes I struggle to not metagame x.x) "Brother...If I do not see you when it... is your time... I will go to the Dark Forest and... drag your furry hide where you belong." Lavendersky said with a small snort, turning her head a bit to look towards him. "You are not them... If you were, I never would have... risked my hide to take you to Northstar." She rumbled, pressing her nose into what she believed was his cheek, though she couldn't quite tell, she just found a tuft of fur. "You are... one of few who I trust... and not simply because you are... my younger brother. The last I spoke with... Spiritstar, it was not our leader... but rather Robinwing. Robinwing possessed Spiritstar, though how, I am unsure." She rumbled, giving a soft sigh. "I am sure... Robinwing had a paw in Spiritstar's untimely end."

“And look at how those times turned out!” Dewcloud hissed again, worry in her eyes as she was once again cut off by Cobrafang. “Has Spiderbite heard anything from Starclan?” He asked the two siblings quietly, genuine in his intent. “He’d tell you if he did, right? We have him, yes, but can we possibly put all that pressure on him?” Ambergaze growled at Dewcloud, clearly irritated. Darkjay shook his head, "We don't know, Sandspirit would likely know more, she's in there more than we are." He rumbled, glancing towards the den. "It is a trying time for the clan, but if we could return from the clutches of Adderclan, I am sure we can recover from this." Though he was wary, remembering the tales his mother told.

Cliffheart wished he could believe Lavendersky, but she didn't know he had died once before. It was warming to know she'd try to come and get him out of the Dark Forest, though. "Robinwing?" He looked to Lavendersky's face at the mention of his other sister. "Possession? But I thought..." Cliffheart felt cold. He always believed Spiritstar was too strong for something like that to happen to her, but if that wasn't the case, maybe he underestimated Robinstar? Would she come for him next? His kits? Was she still out for the Clans? "Lavendersky," he mewed weakly. "I don't know what to do."

"I do not know either... But the Dark Forest seems to be... taking over... again." Lavendersky meowed softly, keeping her voice down. "Her worst mistake... was letting this hide... of bones live. The only reason... I have spoken up... is because I do not have... the strength." And she did so curse that fact. If only she had a few more moons, just a few more moons of strength. No doubt she would have pulled the same stunt as she did back in the time of Adderclan. She didn't mind dying a rogue if she had too, she was born one after all. "Do not rely... on Starclan; honestly, they are... a bunch of mouse-brains. Find those... you trust... or trust no one... but that is lonely." She snorted before coughing, shaking her head. "You have... always been the... protective one, even as... as a kit."

(Have no idea what's currently going on, so just posting a generic starter for now.)
Nightfern and Sunshade lay together in a patch of sunlight, looking like a large lump of black and ginger fur. After having been up early hunting, they took the time to relax and enjoy each other's company. Nightfern's tail twitched as Sunshade groomed her ears, and she returned the favor by nibbling on her sister's favorite itchy spot between her shoulder blades.
Hearing the commotion on the other side of camp, they both raised their heads and opened their dark green eyes. Getting to their feet, they perked their ears to catch what the conversation was about.

((Spiderbite, the medicine cat apprentice, has just returned to camp with a patrol of ShadowClan warriors! This includes Cliffheart, the brother of Lavendersky, the current medicine cat who is currently dying. Cliffheart used to be a member of SkyClan, but due to a long story involving the Dark Forest, he moved to ShadowClan. Tensions are very high in camp right now!!! Spiritstar is dead and Whitesun, the deputy, is missing!
I would suggest reading the news section on the front page, it'll catch you up. There should also be a history of the RP section on the first post of the Joining Page. It's a bit of work, but it's helpful and so so worth it if you want to really dig your teeth in here - this RP has been around a long time (since the old forums - way before I joined), so it has a lot of love and work that's been put into it!))

(Thank you thistle! I've read some of it but not all. I edited my post a little so it doesn't seem quite so out of tune with the current situation.)

Hearing the commotion on the other side of camp, they both raised their heads and opened their dark green eyes. Getting to their feet, they perked their ears to catch what the conversation was about. Eaglenose - who had found a spot not far from the sisters - looked over at them at their interest. Perfect. He wanted someone else to complain to, he hadn’t got it out of his system yet. He stood and moved to stand closer to them, giving a soft growl to announce himself. “I bet those ShadowClan cats can’t wait to get back to their camp and tell Cedarstar all about our problems,” he hissed, keeping his voice low.

Sunshade nodded her head in agreement, her ears flat and her tail lashing. Her fur prickled uncomfortably at the thought of the ShadowClan cats knowing their weaknesses. "I wouldn't put it past them to plan something after this." She hissed. "I wouldn't trust a ShadowClan cat if they were the last cats alive."
Nightfern sat back thoughtfully and wrapped her tail neatly around her front paws. She couldn't help but think she'd do the same thing for her own sister, even if it meant going to the camp of an enemy clan. On the other hand, the thought of ShadowClan being here at a time like this made her ears flick in discomfort. She leveled her forest green gaze at Eaglenose and decided to reserve judgement for now.

He tilted his head to the side and narrowed his eyes at her. “You don’t agree?” He asked, not angry, just curious.

Nightfern twitched her tail tip thoughtfully. "I do agree. I wouldn't put it past them to go and tell Cedarstar everything." Hesitating slightly, she added. "But does that give us the right to keep a cat from his dying sister?" Her eyes sparked at the thought of her own sister dying, and the things she'd do to be there for her.
Sunshade caught the emotions swirling in her sister's eyes, and tilted her head slightly as she realized the deeper meaning in her words.

Eaglenose shook his head. “For StarClan’s sake, fine let the old cat visit his sister - despite his treason on SkyClan I might add - but don’t bring three other ShadowClan warriors into our camp to do it.” He argued. Were vulnerable and don’t need ShadowClan - of all the clans - to to know about it.” He glanced over at Nightfern again and sighed, understanding her emotions and how she felt. “I lost my family, I understand wanting to say good bye. But we have to think of the clan, too,” he said, giving on a more gentle tone.

Nightfern's eyes softened at his understanding. "Yes, you're right. I think he should have come here by himself. At the very least, his clanmates should have stayed outside of camp." She looked over towards the ShadowClan cats and shook her head. "I wonder how long they'll stay?" She muttered.
Sunshade also glanced over at the ShadowClan warriors. The fur prickled along her spine as she got to her feet. "Well, I don't know about you, but I think I'm going to over there, sit, and stare at them until they do. Maybe it'll make them think twice about coming here again." She twitched her whiskers in amusement at her half-joke. "I am going to get closer though. You coming?" Her green eyes flicked from Nightfern to Eaglenose.

Eaglenose nodded, satisfied that she understood what he meant. Of course he thought Cliffheart had the right to say good bye - he’d fought alongside Cliffheart before his move to ShadowClan, he remembered the loyalty he felt to the Tom as his clanmate before everything had gone to dung and changed. He wasn’t heartless either. Not to mention he had lost his parents, his siblings long ago - if he hadn’t been able to be there and mourn for them, he would have been devastated. His gaze snapped to Sunshade, her words snapping him out of his thoughts. “What do we need to get closer for?” He asked, though he shifted to follow her.

Nightfern shook her head, opting to stay away from the cluster of cats on the other side of the camp. "You go ahead, go be nosy and eavesdrop. Tell me everything later." Her eyes swirled with amusement, knowing that was exactly what her sister planned to do.
Sunshade huffed, whiskers twitching in annoyance at how easily her sister guessed her intentions. She turned away and started trotting towards the camp entrance instead. "I think I'll actually go do some hunting. No sense in staying here where everyone's stepping on each other's tails." She muttered to Eaglenose.

Eaglenose glanced between the sisters, and then nodded. “I’ll come with you.” He offered, padding after her. “Poppyclaw and I were interrupted on our hunt earlier, maybe you and I will have better luck.” He said hopefully. He wanted to bring back more than just a measly robin this time.

Sunshade breathed in a long, deep breath as she slipped out of the camp entrance. It had been almost suffocating with how much tension there was in camp. Her body relaxed as she took in the sounds and scents of the forest, letting the sun set her dark ginger fur ablaze. She closed her eyes for a brief moment before opening them again. "Where should we go?" She asked Eaglenose. "You pick."

"Where should we go?" She asked Eaglenose. "You pick." Eaglenose followed her out of camp, understanding her need to be away. Ever since he had walked back in from his patrol with Poppyclaw, he had wanted to turn and walk right back out. He looked around, wondering what they should do for hunting. Birds were going to be the best chance for plentiful prey - but he and Poppyclaw had still been slightly unlucky with those. He thought of going to jagged peak - but he wasn’t sure that was a good idea after recent events. He looked back at her, tail swaying. “Skystar Oak?” He suggested.

Sunshade nodded in agreement. "Sound good to me," she said. She turned towards the path up to the great tree, scenting and listening for prey as they went. Thoughts of what was happening back at camp tried to invade her head, but she shook them off, determined to focus on this hunt and enjoy this time in the forest.

Thoughts of what was happening back at camp tried to invade her head, but she shook them off, determined to focus on this hunt and enjoy this time in the forest. Eaglenose padded after her, keeping his eyes and ears peeled for any prey. He was mostly on the lookout for birds, but ground prey would do him just fine if they stumbled across it. He quickened his pace to walk next to her. “Glad to be out of camp. The tension, the sadness, it gets under my pelt.” He commented.

Sunshade nodded in agreement as they neared the giant tree, choosing to remain quiet in order to listen for prey. Her ears swiveled in different directions and she opened her mouth to taste the air. A rustle in a small tree met her ears at the same time as the scent of squirrel drifted across her nose. Pinpointing the sound, she crept closer as she noticed a small shrub right at the base of the tree. As she nestled herself silently in the shrub, Sunshade pricked her ears and peered through the leaves of her hiding place. There! she thought, spotting the fluffy-tailed rodent on a low branch. Just a little closer... Gathering her haunches beneath her, she sprang from the bush. Claws outstretched, she lengthened her body as she sailed towards the squirrel. Feeling fur beneath her claws, Sunshade quickly snagged it, bringing it towards her as she started descending back towards the ground. By the time she landed, she had the squirrel firmly in her grip, and she quickly ended the catch with a swift bite.

Eaglenose fell silent as he recognized the sound and scent of the squirrel. He crouched and watched as Sunshade stalked it, impressed at her expert skills. When she turned back around with the squirrel in her jaws, he gave a pleased nod. “Great catch. And lucky too.” He caught the sight of a bird overhead as it circled the large tree and then disappeared among the branches. “My turn now,” he said, trotting over to the tree and clawing his way up easily. It was much better than the sloppy attempt with Poppyclaw. Now, he was showing off, he had more at stake. After he reached the lowest branch, he turned back and looked down at her.
“Just keep an eye out. If I can catch it up here I will, otherwise, I’ll scare it down to you.” He told her.

Sunshade set her squirrel down, hiding it in a small clump of grass to come back to later. She purred in satisfaction at Eaglenose's praise, feeling quite proud of herself. Her eyes followed him as he climbed higher in the large tree, and she nodded her head to him to continue, remaining vigilant as he disappeared among the great leaves.

Eaglenose made his way up, keeping an eye on the bird that was sitting, unknowing, on the branch. It wasn’t too far up and the branches was pretty solid. He could probably snag it on his own, as long as he could keep his balance. He slowed as he reached the branch opposite of the bird and crouched, inching along the branch, keeping his claws sheathed now. Finally, he was close enough and he leapt over the gap between the branches and landed, his claws sinking into the birds body to hold it still. He gave it a killing bite and then turned, peering down through the branches with it in his mouth at Sunshade, satisfied.

Sunshade sat down and started grooming one of her paws, pulling out a chunk of squirrel hair. She looked up and watched as Eaglenose stalked the bird. Her ears perked with interest as he managed to swiftly kill the bird before it flew away, and she called out to him as he looked down at her through the branches. "Nice catch!" She said. "That was quick!"

(Typical male, showing off lol)
Sunshade, impressed by his quick kill and casual attitude, let her interest show in her gaze. After a few seconds, she caught herself staring and turned away, ears getting hot. She reached into to the nearby clump of grass to retrieve her squirrel, taking a little longer than normal as she shuffled around.
(I spy a crush forming, so maybe it worked? xD)

Oooooo finally eaglenose’s arrogance has paid off! 🤣) Eaglenose noticed the shift in her gaze and how she stared a little long and at first, he lifted his head higher, until he thought of the implications and his fur grew hot. That had never worked before, he wasn’t sure what to do next. ‘Relax, mouse-brain, it was just a look. You’re a great hunter, she noticed, that’s all.’ He thought, but it was more to ease the nerves than anything. He cleared his throat around the bird and nodded. “Okay, want to keep going or head back to camp?” He asked, the feathers on the bird tickling the roof of his mouth.

Sunshade spared him a quick glance, not noticing his discomfort over her own. "Um..." she muttered, trying to gather her thoughts. "Let's go back," she decided, thinking how there's no way she'd be able to focus on hunting anymore. She shuffled her paws around a bit.

He walked a half a step behind her, his tail twitching a bit. After a moment he moved to walk next to her instead. “We can share this bird, if you like. It’s too big for just me.” He offered, it wasn’t a lie. He wasn’t very hungry now, but he knew he should fill his belly anyways. “I wonder how things are back at camp,” he commented.
