Actually I hadn't thought about it, but it might be interesting. I don't think they'd be like religious symbols.
Maybe they're actually a form of monster? Also maybe the hybrid angels don't have wings (or it's super, super rare) but instead are like super strong and can paint runes on their pelt to enhance their abilities? (I've read too much Mortal Instruments...)

Ooo yeah, that's a good idea. I definitely think it'd be better to keep out any sorta religious ties. Maybe the angel hybrids could have naturally occurring feathers, but not wings. And demons could have scales or smthn? Do you think we should decide what races cats can be hybrids with, or what jobs the clan will have and then put them in depending on the abilities each race would have?

Angels (maybe different types, light and dark, though this could refer to their wing colors and maybe how they act?)
Demons (maybe lower and higher demons, with different attributes?)
Vampires (strigoi which are the darker vamps and a different kind?)
Monsters (wendigos, porbably need a few more types)
Ghosts (for sure, probably mostly benevolent, those that aren't get exorcised)
Werecats (this could be hilarious. Though I don't think that we'd have a way to hunt them so they'd probably have to be clan members)

Ok! Makes sense. For demons and angels, if you didn't want to we wouldn't necessarily have to split them into different types? But if you have an idea for that, i'd totally be up for that to. For the clan cats, would they be able to be hybrids for monsters and ghosts as well, or are monsters and ghosts simply what the clan would be fighting against? I imagine it would be hard to have a ghost hybrid, and that if there were to be monster hybrids they'd be considered tainted and bad luck by the rest of the clan?

Angels ; These monsters are very ironically named, for there is nothing pure or comforting about them. Though from first glance they appear like normal felines, their fur is always the palest white with eyes the color of pure gold. Their wings are mainly pale grays or soft blondes and made up of feathers. There is nothing evil about their appearance, until one gets a closer look at their pupil-less eyes. Angels, as the clan has named these monsters - due to their ethereal beauty and wings - are actually in close relation to sirens. Instead of singing however, they use their silver tongues to infect their prey with a sort of mind-numbing need to serve. They use their puppets until they lose their usefulness, then they destroy their souls permanently, so that no necromancer could even hope to bring back even their ghost. These creatures are physically weak though, so if one can get past their allure, they are not much of a fight.
Lower Demons ; These are the main villains of (name)Clan. Hunters mainly train to fight lower demons, which are unable to possess creatures but take on their own forms. In this form demons are distinctly cat-like, though much bigger. They have clear distinctions from regular felines however, like their eyes, which are a pitch black without whites. They also have a pair of horns atop their head, though how they're shaped depends on the demon. While in this form, the demon can use shadows to teleport short distances (about four fox-lengths) and have enhanced strength. They are very skilled in battle and can be tricky foes, though they can't really use much magic.
High Demons ; These are an extremely rare type of demon, which can't be exercised by merely one exorcist or even killed by two hunters. They are the demons responsible for possessions. Much like their lower counterparts, High Demons have a pair of horns and are larger than the average cat. Their claws are abnormally thick and long, protruding from their paws at all times. Instead of their eyes being pitch black, they gave glowing red rings right around where the outside of their pupil would be. They also have wings, thick and leathery. High Demons are much more dangerous than Lower Demons, as they are skilled both physically and magically. They can use shadows to teleport much more farther (more like ten fox-lengths) and they have the ability to use (WIP).
Strigoi ; These bloodsuckers don't sparkle in the sunlight. Legend goes that they are the evil spirits who can't make it StarClan because of some crime they committed in their life, so their spirit possesses the forms of different types of animals and seeks out the blood of the living to sustain itself. Cats who are not given proper burials are said to become strigoi and it is the clan's job to hunt them down. One can tell a strigoi by their stone gray, lifeless eyes and the faded, gray color of their fur/feathers/skin/scales. They are completely colorless creatures which makes them blend in with the fog but stand out heavy forested areas. They are unnaturally quick and have a mouth full of fangs(if possessing a bird their beaks become incredibly sharp) in order to easily extract blood from their prey. They are weak to sunlight and silver.
Vampires ; A more tamer version of strigoi. Vampires are always feline, they cannot possess other forms like their darker cousins. Their fur can be any color or pattern but they usually take on duller colors, like grays, whites, light shades of brown and ginger. Their eyes are always red, there are never any exceptions unless they are a Master. They can drink blood from prey but this is isn't filling and they need to feed at least once every two moons on another feline, but only with consent. If there is no consent, the vampire grows ill and vomits up the stolen blood. These creatures can walk in the sunlight, though young ones will often sleep in later naturally and be more sensitive to sunlight hitting their eyes. While not immortal, they do live longer than the average cat by quite a bit. They are deeply attached to their Master vampire and answer to them even before their leader. Vampires are still very sensitive to silver.

Monsters ; Still need more info and types before I can begin working on these official descriptions!

Ooooo it sounds really good so far! I love the description you did for angels. I'll throw out some ideas, but feel free to shoot any of them down!
Since they have a mind control ability, maybe angels should be weaker physically?
For vampires, it might be fun for lean into the blood thirsty nature. Like, they come across as far more normal until the blood lust over takes them and all that.
For ghosts I like your idea before that some of them aren't dangerous. Maybe only ghosts who have a very powerful grudge are the ones powerful enough to cause actual damage to the clan cats and have to be exorcised.
And uhhhh, for Werecats I'm not sure lol. Other than the usual Werewolf tropes. Maybe cats who are were hybrids become more powerful on nights with a full moon or smthn.

im about to get lost in some deep mythological research lmao. xD I could also start looking at potential role names? maybe mercenary for monster hunters.
also, for werecats maybe they can only transform certain parts of their body instead of their whole being if they're hybrid? and would there ever be mixed
breeds/purebred monsters as a part of the clan? maybe certain monsters/hybrids are infertile or can't produce offspring with other types? idk. higher vampires could be like a chupacabra kind of deal where they mostly just have the bloodlust but aren't inherently evil.

I think it's a really good idea Spark, that they would be weaker physically as a result. That makes perfect sense!
I was thinking about that, especially for the vampire clan cats. They'd most likely appear pretty normal aside from maybe longer fangs or something like that.
Since they live in ghost town, where there were a ton of cats who have passed away, plus maybe there were once two clans in the area and a huge war or something, the remains settled in the church and began to be haunted by the ghosts of all the cats who died in the wars and such? Dunno, just an idea.
The full moon will definitely have a play on werecats, in all likely-hood.
That would be super cool, Fox! Mercenaries has potential honestly. cx
Maybe, that could potentially work. Werecats definitely need the most work out of all the species, next to monsters. There should probably be a limit where hybrids can't breed with other hybrids, at least to some extent because they'd be infertile. There's so many genetic things to work out... halp.

we may be getting a little carried away but... what can you do.
I like the old clan ghost idea. it could give the clan interesting history/potential for different ancestors.
would any hybrid cat technically fall under the monster subset or would that maybe be it's own thing? also maybe med cats could be called clerics? I know it has religious ties
but I'm honestly thinking about DND lol.

I mean, there's always the option of saying F genetics and saying the offspring has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the hybridization from either parent. Or go full Pokemon logic and say the kits will only inherit a lineage from the mother. Like, it's not realistic but what is in the world of rp haha.
I really like the idea of the spirits of cats roaming the town! Kinda like the ghosts in Harry Potter lol.
If we went with the angels being physically weak, we could also make the demons weaker with magic(?). Like, they are strong physically and can corrupt/possess living things but can't use any other abilities?

I think the most powerful creatures will be High Demons(which are rare), Master Vampires(there is three max, within the clan), and probably some form of monster.
I really want a way to balance out the monsters so they're not overpowered but at the same time... they are monsters you know?

yeah, i like the idea of demons being physically stronger/having possession where the angels are stronger with words/etc. but are weaker physically. there's some good balance there, with every "species" kind of having advantages and disadvantages.
genetics really don't matter, all i'm imaging is a clan full of mutt kittens running around with 6 different abilities and tearing the clan apart. xD

i think we have quite a few already, especially if there are subsets for many of them. we could explore exactly what subsets we want and what they are like, i.e. higher and lower demons, master vamps, etc. like what the differences are and what is special about each.

Maybe higher demons are the only ones that can possess other creatures while master vampires are the only type of vampire that can turn another creature into a vampire?
I think it would be wise to discuss just what exactly we want to do with the power system. As in if we want to include the use of magic and what exactly each race can do within those terms. Especially what the hybrids found within a clan can do.

yeah.. it's prob going to be really easy for characters to get op if they're not well balanced. i like the master vampire idea though.
maybe certain hybirds/whatever tend to be more drawn to certain ranks in clan life? like maybe demons are more predisposed to be exorcists, vampires make better hunters, etc. not cut and dry obviously.
are just hybrids allowed in the clan? because that could definitely affect the power dynamic. maybe these different species and what not can have offspring with cats, but only hybrids are "normal" or cat-like in appearance and pure monsters are... more monstery.
as far as any magic/powers go, i imagine there would have to be a lot of limitations.

I think a lot of it will depend on what Blu wants the magic(?) system to look like, but I'd assume that only hybrids would be allowed within the clan ranks? I don't think it would be fair for someone to be a full fledged demon within the clan ranks, and for the most part it might be more interesting if the monsters were attacking the clan, not being a part of it. If that makes sense? A lot of the clan cats would probably be later generations as well? Like, maybe their parents were hybrids.
I like your idea about making certain hybrids better for specific jobs. Could be fun to have characters that want to be an exorcist but are pushed towards becoming a hunter and all that.
As for magic, we could always go the exorist-y route and make the cats battle with silver, holy water, etc. Or like, the cat equivalent to that.

The only full type of creature allowed in the clan are vampires, at least that was the plan.
I also like the idea of certain hybrids being more inclined to certain jobs, that would make a lot of sense, plus it could potentially cause drama and such.
Exorcists will definitely use similar weapons,
And if we can find a way for cats to use silver weapons....
Maybe silver caps for their claws?
