Laurie watched with some amusement as Echo disappeared to get a shirt, when she then wrapped around herself, offering part of it to Lane who took it with a smile, wrapping part of it around her own neck.
When the bottle landed on him, he gave Echo a smile.
βIβll go truth, I think,β
The young male watched patiently as the girl wrote out her question. When he read it, he leaned back with a shrug.
βApart from partying? Okay, hmm... I was into acting, or I used to be anyway. Never really got anywhere with that. Thatβs how I learned English, I was going to come to America. Um... I did some shitty art. Used to do some sewing sometimes. A little bit of everything.β he replied βnothing too interesting.β
With that question answered, Laurie spun the bottle, raising one eyebrow as it landed on River.
βAlright, Anger Anonymous. Truth or Dare?β
When he said dare, a mischievous grin grew on Laurieβs face.
βOkay, I dare you...to kiss the hottest person in the room.βLaurie said
Listen, it was Truth or Dare. It had to happen eventually. And messing with River seemed fun, especially since they didnβt even know his name yet. This was the price River had to pay for joining in with this game.

As River seemed to look at each member of the group, weighing things up for a moment, Laurie watched with some curiosity. He didnβt know much about this boy apart from that he was the champion of Ares, he didnβt even know his name. So this outfit to be interesting.
To be truthful, Laurie didnβt know what he had expected. But he was fairly sure that he hadnβt expected River to approach Laurie himself and plant a kiss on his temple.
βI like this one,β Dionysus said, causing Laurie to have to hold back a laugh
Laurie could feel his own face flushing, and Riverβs blush hadnβt gone unnoticed either
βWell that was a spicy rebondissement I wasnβt expecting, but I canβt say Iβm mad.β Laurie said with a raised eyebrow
After all, Laurie also had eyes. River was attractive, Laurie would be crazy to deny that.
They didnβt dwell though, which was for the better, as River spun the bottle and it landed on Irene. She went dare, and when Laurie heard the dare the champion of Zeus was given he couldnβt help but smile.
This would be fun.

Irene sat in the circle and watched as the bottle around, stopping at different people as they answered truth or dare. From what she saw, it was pretty tame overall. The lack of sleep and the relaxed atmosphere caused her to drift in and out of sleep.
When the bottle pointed in her direction, she seemed to awaken a bit, groggily looking down at it before looking at River. Sheβd said dare, mostly since she thought itβd be more interesting than saying truth. Plus, she felt daring at the moment. Her tired expression shifted to disgust as he said the dare.
There was no chance that people were going to be generous with their food choices, she knew that. They had the champion of Loki for fecks sake. Her lips curled into a snarl as she stared daggers at River, giving him a murderous look that expressed βif I die, Iβm taking you with meβ.
When the horrid monstrosity was brought out in front of her, Irene couldnβt help but gag a little on the inside. A plate of slimy mayo that was drizzled with a heep of honey and a slice of spam. This was basically a war crime that she was forced to endure. She looked at River for a moment, giving him the middle finger, before dining into the plate.
The experience could only be described as horrid. There was a sickly sweetness and an overwhelming taste of vinegar. The thick texture was nearly impossible to keep down. She was a quarter through the plate and could almost not keep it down.
Somehow, she managed to finish the entire plate. She heaved in regret as she leaned over the plate. She was going to kill River for that.
She sat where she was, trembling in disgust as she gave a mile long stare ahead of herself. Quietly, trying not to vomit, she spun the bottle. It landed on Daniel. She asked him truth or dare, feeling her insides contracting in on themselves. When he said truth, Irene asked βWhen was the last time you cried?β Because someone needs to cry for this and itβs not going to be me, She thought.

Daniel had been having fun watching everyone take their turns. He especially enjoyed seeing Laurie and River blushing like crazy over a small kiss, though to be fair, he would probably be blushing like crazy as well. When it came to Irene's dare, Daniel was one of the first people to get up and searched the fridge before he pulled out the jar of mayonnaise. When the monstrosity of a meal had been served to Irene, Daniel could barely hold back his laughter as he watched. After Irene spun the bottle, Daniel started to panic when it landed on him so he chose truth since he didn't want to have to eat something as disgusting as what Irene had had. He rose an eyebrow at her question since it seemed kind of tame to him. Daniel thought for a few moments before he answered "It's been about a year and a half to 2 years, I believe. And no I'm not saying why since that wasn't part of the truth" he said with a smile on his face. He reached forward and spun the bottle. When it landed on River, Daniel's eyebrow rose again "Hey, Frenchie, did you do something to the bottle so it would keep landing on the ginger?" He jokingly asked Laurie. When River chose dare, the smile on Daniel's face widened "I dare you to act like a dog with Frenchie over their as your owner for the next 10minutes" he said. Then, before River could spin the bottle, Daniel snatched the bottle and tossed it over his shoulder. It went further than he had expected since he still wasn't fully used to his enhanced strength. The bottle hit the wall behind Daniel and shattered on impact, sending glass shards everywhere. Daniel grimaced when he heard the bottle hit the wall "So how about we just choose people at this point and make it a little more fun. So how about you can't choose someone who just chose you and no ganging up on one person. Sound good?"

The game was really starting to get fun now, and Lane was having a lot of fun watching the chaos around her. Admittedly, though, sheβd felt no small amount of sympathy for poor Irene with her dare. Lane was sure she wouldnβt have been able to keep that monstrosity down.
Upon hearing Riverβs dare, Laurie let out a chuckle.
βViens!β he called βQui c'est le bon chienchien? Whoβs a good boy?β
The blue-haired girl watched as River went to sit at Laurieβs feet. Not that Laurie seemed to be taking advantage of this dare quite yet, instead just idly petting Riverβs head a few times.
The redheaded boy went to reach for the bottle only for Daniel to throw it. Lane didnβt know whether she was more shocked or amused as the bottle smashed against the wall, but either way they werenβt using that anymore.
What did surprise her was when River turned to her and asked her to pick truth or dare. She hadnβt really been mentally prepared for having another turn. But to be fair sheβd suggested the game so this was only fair.
βIβve already done truth, so dare for me,β she responded
River seemed to consider it for a moment, but it didnβt take him long to decide on a date. A dare which would undoubtedly wake up the entire building.
βYouβre killing me here, Random Citizen,β she joked βAlright, fine, but my voice isnβt anything special so youβre probably going to regret this. And if everybody wakes up this is on you.β
Laneβs voice wasnβt bad, but she was no professional singer. It was nice enough, she supposed. Bright, clear and lilting. But she still wouldnβt consider herself an especially good singer. Probably just average more than anything.
And she had to serenade the group as loud as she could? Sheβd have to choose the loudest song she could think of, the more belting the better.
βYou know, this is probably a bad idea-β Hermes could be heard saying in Laneβs head
But it was already too late
βParty girls don't get hurt Can't feel anything, when will I learn I push it down, push it down I'm the one "for a good time call" Phone's blowin' up, they're ringin' my doorbell I feel the love, feel the love
One, two, three, one, two, three, drink One, two, three, one, two, three, drink One, two, three, one, two, three, drink
Throw em back, till I lose count
I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist Like it doesn't exist I'm gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelierβ
Laneβs voice wasnβt exactly made for the higher notes of Chandelier by Sia, and the girl couldnβt help but burst into fits of giggles every time she failed to hit them. But as she sang she was throwing her head back, laughing, and having a good time. She wasnβt really afraid of embarrassing herself in front of the rest of the group anyway, none of them were exactly judgemental people. It was kind of freeing in a way.
Her parents would never have let her sing that loudly, so this was pretty fun.

Clementine lester || Luka Ravana || Echo Deirdre
As soon as River kissed Laurie's forehead, Echo actually downright cooed at the show of affection, and Luka simply winked at River, "How cute, Bogan, do you have a crush already?" She commented, voice mimicking that of an owner towards a really good pet, throwing a teasing glare at Laurie as she did so.
She laughed at everyone, realizing this was perhaps the most fun she had in a while. Echo for her part removed the one shirt, resting it in her lap.
However, Lane's serenade brought wrath. Without a warning, the door was slammed open, all lights in the room flashing on as Cleo glared at them. "What the hell was that? A dog being cut open with hellfire?"
They paused, brows furrowed, "It's 4am. You guys are up surprisingly early." They commented, glaring at them all, "Hmm, I guess we can begin the day early then!" They added with a grin, payback of course for waking them up.
Luka glared at them, standing up quickly, "Who made you the bloody boss? There's 7 leaders, not just you. Thank goodness."
"Well, I think Naida, Dillon, and Lucien would happen to agree with me," Cleo commented, though they doubted they needed to wake anyone up. That caterwaul was likely enough. "Why the hell are you guys up at 4am anyways?"

Irene would have been laughing at Riverβs predicament if her insides werenβt curling in on themselves. The taste lingered on her tongue, which wasnβt helping her stomach in the slightest. Sure, seeing River bark like a dog and accept head-pats from Laurie was hilarious, but she feared that any amount of laughter from her would cause her to puke up everything.
When Cleo barged in, Irene couldnβt help but be somewhat relieved by their presence. At the moment, she was really too tired and nauseated to express any annoyance to the fellow leader. βCleo, uhβ she muttered, trying to keep her voice level βcan you get me a bin? Iβve been poisonedβ
~~~~~~~~~~~
Pascal looked at himself through a mirror he had on his desk, trying his best not to nod off. He looked ragged and his hair jutted out in every direction. His eyes were red and puffy, but somewhat hollow looking as well. Suffice to say, he didnβt sleep that night, or the night before. He didnβt particularly enjoy it, since it took up so much of his time. Plus, he felt more motivated to do writing when it was night time. When he checked the clock on the other side of his desk, he noticed it was almost 4am. Almost morning for everyone. Heβd heard voiced earlier, but he wasnβt sure if they were still awake at that moment. Shaking his head, he got up from his desk and walked out of his room. Being as quiet as possible, Pascal made his way to the kitchen to pour himself some more coffee. It was the only thing that was keeping him awake at that moment anyway.
After a few minutes of watching the coffee pot slowly get filled with caffeine, Pascal gingerly grabbed it and poured himself a mug, but he was startled by a loud, echoey sound, which caused him to drop the put full of coffee. He stood there for a few minutes, trying to get his breathing under control, realizing that it was just someone singing. He let out a tired sigh and grabbed his mug, taking a couple sips instead of chugging it since he wanted to at least savour the last bit of coffee he could drink for the moment.
Walking to where everyone seemed to be, Pascal to a long sip of his coffee again when he stopped behind the blue-haired girl. Lane, was that her name? It had been a week and he hadnβt yet memorized everyoneβs names. He was a little surprised to see how many people were awake at the moment, but he was really too exhausted to care that much. After taking another sip, he said in a low, monotone voice, βThe coffee pot broke.β
Daniel was enjoying watching Laurie actually treat River like a dog though he did wish that Laurie would go a bit further but he couldn't see that happening. Daniel noticed the look that River gave him and gave the red-head a smirk, as if to dare him to do something. At Lane's turn, he listened to her sing, which was fairly painful but still fun nonetheless. He figured he could try giving her a few vocal lessons to help improve her singing ability. As soon as Cleo came storming in though, something in Daniel told him to run, which he did but only to the back of the couch. With them standing in the doorway, there wasn't many places he could go "I didn't think it was that bad. I've heard a lot worse" he said in defense of Lane, though it was said in a much quieter voice than usual
Kaz was living life. After Irene was forced to eat her worst nightmare he searched for his soda and offered her some so she could at least rinse out the awful taste with something, or maybe some chips? Both were given in sacrifice to keep poor Irene from puking all over them. As he laughed happily and sang along with Lane as she wailed Chandelier, his gaze moved to the door as Cleo stormed in. His eyebrows arched to the new arrival and he rolled his eyes heavily as they began to berate the group. Kaz sighed heavily and dramatically, βWe couldnβt sleepβ he told them simply as he leaned back into the chair and threw his head back in defeat. Now the fun was over.
Sanna woke angrily and peered our her door as the obnoxious bodies reached her door. The fire behind her glowed dimly in the hearth and her disgruntled look told you all you needed to know. Her wild dark hair added to the angry look as she stomped to find who was being so loud at 4am in the morning. She came upon Cleo who was already on top of things yelling at the group. Sanna smirked and leaned against the doorway smugly, though yawned widely and pulled back some of her hair from her face. She opened her mouth for a moment to add to Cleoβs comments, though was interrupted by Pascalβs arrival.
Eydan was also awoken from his sleep by all the ruckus. He sighed and groggily ran a hand over his face and scratched his head. βWhatβs going on.....β he managed tiredly. Horus wide awake in hi head and already on alert for anything. βCalm down Iβm sure itβs just the night owlsβ he muttered with a wide yawn before pulling on some slippers and going to take a peak as to what was happening.
Seely had been up getting herself some water and taking a bathroom trip when she jumped at the sounds of Laneβs singing, or supposed singing. She then could hear other voices, was that Cleo? Her curiosity got the better of her and she brought her water bottle with her to investigate all the noise. It was early but I mean, perhaps they had early birds here in the house? Or those who hadnβt even slept yet? Seely hummed softly to herself as she made her way towards the noises and voices.
The interruption by Cleo instantly caused Lane to stop singing. She did, however, take mock offence at their suggestion that her singing had been bad.
βExcuse me, but I happen to think that my performance was beautiful.β she joked
She was going to answer the question about why they were awake, but she didnβt need to because Kaz had already done so.
Suddenly, though, a voice spoke from behind Lane, which she hadnβt been expecting, causing her to give a startled sound something like a yelp. When she turned her head and saw Pascal behind her looking... looking like death really... she was startled all over again.
βWhy is everyone trying to give me a heart attack today? Donβt do that.β she said
Cleoβs suggestion of starting the day early was met with groans from Lane and Laurie. When they mentioned the other leaders, two of those very same leaders showed up.
Lucien looked especially pissed. His blond hair was tousled and he was still in his pajamas, though heβd pulled over a dressing gown. It had a harp design sown in like a logo on the chest.
βI like,β He said slowly and deliberately βmy sleep. And if I wake up before the sun is up, Apollo doesnβt shut up about the sunrise. Iβm not happy.β
Cleoβs suggestion of starting the day early seemed to go down well with the blond, who was looking for a way to keep Apollo quiet about the now imminent sunrise for a little bit.
βI agree with them. You all made us suffer, so weβre starting the day early.β
βrabat-joieβ Laurie muttered
Dillon followed moments later, yawning and looking mildly irritated, which was honestly the most anger he was mustering at that point. He too was in pajamas and a dressing gown, his with a peacock feather design sown in as a logo.
βEverybodyβs awake, I suggest we all make the most of it. I say we get the day started early too.β suggested the British boy
He still hadnβt really gotten over his jet lag anyway. Well, it wasnβt jet lag exactly since he hadnβt flown. But it was the same thing, he wasnβt in England anymore. Dillon hadnβt slept too much that night anyway, and it would be daytime in England at that point.
Clementine lester || Luka Ravana || Echo Deirdre
Clementine smirked as Lucien and Dillon agreed to their idea, though they seemed to only soften slightly at seeing how sick Irene looked. Irene was probably the only decent person other than Dillon.
Well, they had to change that slightly. Angling a glare at Luka and then Lane, they went to fetch Irene the bucket.
Echo blinked up at them, a small blush coating her cheeks, "S-sorry" she practically choked out, looking apologetic that they were awoken, and seeming to feel bad enough that she forced herself out of her comfort zone. Almost immediately, she buried her face into the collar of her shirt.
Luka, for her part, simply stood up, a tiredness to her eyes, and yet a vivid awareness that wasn't quite as human as it should have been, "Morning Sunshine, already pissed off? Doesn't seem like it's that hard for you to achieve," she commented, lips pulled into a teasing smirk, "I mean, do you ever shut up?" she added, before she looked at Dillon, simply nodding in reply.
Clementine returned with the bucket, practically throwing it Irene, before looking back, "Pascal, were you up too?" They sounded disappointed, looking back at him with narrowed eyes. They're own shirt was pretty plane, except the scales and feather on the front.
Echo kept huddled up, feeling bad for ever having walked the halls and gaining attention. Her own shirt had wings on it.
Luka, for her part, simply glared at Cleo, her own pajamas had black snakelike designs circling them. A warm bakery type smell was starting to fill the house after a few minutes, and Luka chuckled softly, turning to Pascal, "You broke the coffee pot? What are you, five?"
Irene clutched the soda and bag of chips tightly as she waited for Cleo to return with a bucket. She gave Kaz a nod of appreciation before taking a few liberal sips of the drink. If she drank too much of it at once, she feared her gut would not be able to handle it. Once Cleo had returned, she had to drop the chips onto the ground for a moment when the bucket was hastily thrown at her. Cleo was temperamental, but at least they were being helpful. Irene took a sip from the soda, swished it in her mouth for a few moments before spitting it into the bucket. It was the easiest way for her to get the taste out of her mouth after all. Once she felt a little better, she finally spoke up βDo we really have to start early? Iβm not sure how productive weβre supposed to be when everyone is miserable. Especially me.β
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pascal blinked at Laneβs panicked response, giving her a somewhat blank look before he shrugged. He couldnβt understand how him standing there could freak her out so much, he was only drinking coffee. When Cleo addressed him, he raised his brow βI wasnβt bothering anyone, I was in my room.β
βPascal, werenβt you up early yesterday too?β Irene asked in a tired, somewhat annoyed tone.
Pascal took another sip of his coffee before responding βI wasnβt up early, I just didnβt feel like sleeping.β His attention soon turned to Luka when she addressed him. She sounded confused. 5? He didnβt look 5, she must have been mistaken. βIβm 22 actuallyβ Pascal replied seriously βI think you might want to get your eyesight checked if you think I look 5. And yes it broke, thatβs why Iβm telling you guys right now.β
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Theo lied in his bed, sleeping peacefully as if he were a decaying log. He was slightly stirred awake when he heard the sounds of people talking outside in the hallway. Were people up already? What time was it? He slowly tore his eye-lids open and checked the clock at the side of his bed. It was a little after 4am. Seriously? People were already up? He had at least 6 hours until it hit the time when he usually woke up. They could at least be more considerate. Grabbing his blanket, he yanked it over his head in an attempt to push himself back to sleep. However, when he caught the scent of what seemed like food being made, he groggily pushed himself up and out of bed. Did the leaders decide to have everyone wake up early without telling him. He grumbled something incomprehensible under his breath before catching up to the person in front of him. She appeared to be humming to herself. If he was remembering correctly, her name was Seely. Theo let out a light cough so she was aware of his presence before asking βWhy is everyone up so early? Did the leaders say something about it or am I just out of the loop?β
Echo apologising was the main thing that softened Lucienβs angry attitude, as the champion of Apollo looked at the girl.
βDonβt apologise kid, you didnβt do anything. You are the literally the quietest person in this building.β Lucien reassured her
To Luka though, the boy narrowed his eyes.
βA little ironic to be accusing me of not shutting up given that five minutes ago I was minding my own business in bed, isnβt it?β Lucien pointed out
He simply rolled his eyes at Riverβs comment. Sure, Ares was probably a pain. But Apollo was too. The guy took everything literally, which was exhausting, plus he was a literal alarm clock. But thereβs no snooze button on the voice inside your head. Infuriating.
Throughout all of these interactions, Laurie just seemed to be observing with an expression of mild amusement. He wasnβt getting into any of these arguments, he was quite happy just watching the group descend into chaos.
Pascal seemed to take Lukaβs comment about him being five literally, which was kind of amusing to Lane, and seemed to cause even Lucienβs mouth to upturn into a slight smile.
βYou and Apollo should meet sometime.β he commented dryly
Lane suddenly, however, found a very tall and strong figure lifting her up and Ariella hugged her. The girl couldnβt help but laugh.
βThank you!β she replied βsee, Ariella and Daniel support me and the rest of you all have terrible taste. They support my dreamsβ
βThat has literally never been your dream.β Dillon pointed out βhas it?β
βNo,β Lane admitted βbut for all you know it couldβve been.β
The suggestion of starting the day early wasnβt something Lane was a fan of, but she supposed it was fair. Laurie didnβt look happy with it either, but seemed to accept it.
βYou know, some of us were really just here quietly minding our own business and daring people to kiss people.β Laurie commented βbut fine.β
It was at that moment another figure appeared at the door; Chiara too looked like sheβd just been woken up.
βOkay, I feel like Iβve gone through the damn looking glass, why is everybody awake at 4AM?β
To be fair to her, Chiaraβs extra-sensitive hearing (thanks to Heimdallr) had not exactly helped the situation.
Day one; 11:00pm
Everything was way beyond odd at this point. Kidnapped, and yet it was for the better. A second time indeed, for Luka.
"Kid, it's late, you suggested resting, why not rest yourself?" Loki had suggested in her ear, though she kept him locked out of her mind after that point.
Instead, she wondered around the verdant room, staring at the various ledges in mind interest. She sat, eventually, on the comfortable bed. But her mind felt much too aware, alert.
In many ways, the room reflected Australia, specifically Mount Gambier, especially the trees. She didn't see any spiders or snakes(other than herself) there either, and it didn't feel overly warm and suffocating.
It was rather cool in the room, actually. Cold in her standards, and yet a bit nice as well. A welcome change, indeed.
Nothing like the first time, not that she remembered much of it, and nothing like the Group Home. Loki, while cruel and rude, was nothing like the maids. Nothing like the comparisons, and better yet, no one knew who Luka was.
"Fine, you're not tired. Are you mad?" Loki practically snapped the words, sounding offended, and it caused her to snicker in reply.
"No," She commented, running her fingers on her left hand over the snake tattoo on her right, "I like it here, much more fun, easier to breath. I mean, I'm still mad about the stairs, you bloody asshole."
It was a bit silent after that moment. Letting her reflect back on some things, think more clearly. Back on the people, that was. She liked Laurie, he wasn't judgmental, but instead fun, everything Luka hadn't been. The two boys who had fought earlier were absolutely hilarious. She couldn't count how many people she had seen fight in Australia over silly things, and it was welcome to see it there.
Some people, she realized, were not ones she liked. For example, Irene and Clementine. Judgmental people, for sure, and not in the just being honest or playful way. People who thought they were right because they followed the rules, though they were above it all.
Then there were those she pitied, Pascal was one, Kita another, and Echo as well. All three seemed quiet, skittish, scared. Luka for her part couldn't relate that well to the feeling. She was always a fighter, but at times she had to be quiet, accept what was given to her, lest she lose it all.
A knock at her door caused her to jump slightly, something she cursed softly at. These people voted her in as a leader, and she presumed it was someone requesting her aid with something.
She was surprised to find Lorenzo standing at her doorway, a cart beside him, with his bright beaming smile. She lazily leaned against her door, blue eyes narrowed as she watched him.
She didn't have time to ask him why he was there, because he was quick to explain, "I happened to notice that at dinner, you didn't eat," He started, seeming to frown as he said the words.
For her part, she chuckled a bit, "I was stuck as a snake, couldn't really eat spaghetti when I was the bloody spaghetti."
"No, even afterwards, so I brought you some leftovers! I assume you got really busy with all the leadership stuff, congrats, by the way!" He was smiling wide, using oven-mittens to grab a nice warm ramekin that was full of pastas, holding it out for her.
For her part, she frowned, tucking her arms in tighter, "I appreciate the thought, I really do, but I'm not hungry." She commented, already preparing to close her door.
"You're so tiny though," Curse him for being so perceptive, his eyes watching her with concern, and she instinctively recoiled slightly more into the dark. Her gaze flickered away from the Italian, her stubbornness kicking in. "You don't have to eat it all, I just want to know that you have it, so if you are hungry, you can eat."
Begrudgingly, she glared back, and gingerly took it. She glanced at him warily, before sighed out, an agitated, but soft chuckle escaping her, "Go get some sleep, you're going to give me a migraine with that blasted blinding smile of yours."
He grinned, bidding her a nice night, before continuing on in the hall. She let her door close, carrying the ramekin to the mini fridge, where she placed it in, before turning away to her bed.
No matter all the new changes, all the new people, everything that had changed...Some things, she decided, would stay the same.
Clementine lester || Echo Deirdre
Echo stared at Lucien as he told her not to apologize, a scowl overtaking her features. She didn't want to be quiet, it was just-well, she sounded absolutely pathetic in her mind, and it was so hard to talk.
She just couldn't bare the thought of River or Lucien no longer wanting to be her friend because she was too annoying or anything.
"Yeah, if you call the imitation of getting ran over good," Clementine commented dryly, though slightly teasing this time. It was too bad that Echo didn't pick up on that memo, her eyes flying wide as she glared at Cleo.
"She sounded beautiful!" She defended, practically snapping the words out, voice soft still and with that young sound to it, before her eyes blew wide, flinging her hands over her mouth as Cleo gaped, and before she herself backed up.
Echo looked absolutely panicked, downright scared. She ducked her head again, crossing her arms, Sorry she signed, before quickly exiting the room.
Cleo, for their part, simply shook their head in confusion. They looked at Naida and Irene, a sigh escaping them, "It wouldn't be fair to let you go sleep, Irene, and not everyone else. And really, this is a punishment for getting too loud with your game. What happened to you anyways?" They questioned.
It seemed that someone stole their attention though, their eyes focused on Daniel, one eyebrow raised at seeing him behind the couch, they looked confused and dubious. They started slow, sounding completely and utterly judgmental, "Why are you hiding behind...the couch?"
Seely jumped a little at the sudden cough, just one of those small starts when one assumes they were alone. She looked over her shoulder and spotted Theo, a smile flicking to her lips and a light tilt of her head to the side. βWell I donβt think it was a meeting, it sounded more like games to me.β She chimed brightly in response. She still wore her pajamas, a pair of deep golden pants, wine colored slippers, and a wine colored top emblazoned in gold with Sekhmetβs lioness head into the breast pocket and the back. The deep brown locks were pulled into a loose braid down her back and her bangs and strands about her face were still a little unkempt from having woken up for water. Her sleeves were rolled and she still held her bottle in her hands. βI was going to go check the kitchen though, it smells like Lorenzo is baking.β She waited for him to catch up to her side and the faintest hint of a blush settled on her cheeks. How could she not find him good looking? Over the week sheβd had little to no interaction with Theo, which she truly regretted. βDid the noise wake you too or were you up already?β She questioned gently, her hazel gaze moving over to meet his.
Luka Ravana
Luka gaped slightly as Pascal took everything literally, though she broke into guffaws of laughter. "Pascal, I was being sarcastic." She commented, practically wheezing.
She righted herself, though it just got worse when Lucien, responded. She looked at Kaz for a moment, before she snickered more, "Well, that's not my fault either, you have Anger Anonymous to blame, he dared Speedy Gonzales to serenade us. Obviously, people can't appreciate true talent when they hear it."
She threw a lazy wink at Lane. She climbed back on the couch, curling into a constrictive ball on the empty seat that Kaz had not taken yet. She threw her arms in a crisscross on the armrest, and put her head over them, her wild hair jutting out in several directions, as her blue eyes remained on Lucien and Pascal, smirk still on her lips. She watched as Echo storm out, her head perking up, her face becoming slightly concerned, as she glared at Cleo once more.
"Bloody buzzkills, the lot of you." She muttered, resting her head again, though feeling slightly disturbed, almost for no reason at all. Just the instinct of not trusting someone in the room. She focused instead on looking back at Kaz, teasingly kicking him with her foot, "Begone thot, the blasted couch shall be mine."
Kaz had been half paying attention to all the yelling and talking, heβd opened the chocolate heβd grabbed and was reading the jokes on the wrapper, laughing to himself about them. What did catch his attention though was Echo leaving in a rush. βOh look what youβve done you guys, you upset the only reasonable person here.β He chimed sadly, pouting a lip as he watched Echo leave, truly sad sheβd felt the need to storm off and leave them all. Heβd been having such a good time seeing her enjoy herself. His eyes moved to Luka as she protested loudly, blaming the others in the group before settling onto the couch. A bright laugh escaped his lips at her ridiculous way she told the story. When kicked, he gave a dramatic drop to the floor, throwing the wrapper from his hand and crying out in fake distress. βOh!! My ribs! Youβve cracked them!β He feigned pain as he lay on the floor. Ignoring Cleoβs and Lucienβs anger at them all in exchange for humor and light-heartedness. βI donβt think Iβll recover Lil Slither.β He whimpered to Luka.
When Daniel heard Cleo address him, he instantly froze. He tried to wrack his mind for an answer. He looked over at Cleo "Ummmm... I'm trying to see if we had made a mess behind the couch. You may wanna watch out because there could be glass shards everywhere from the bottle I threw" he said with a nervous laugh "If we're starting the day early, I may as well clean the mess up right?"
βYeah, well I wasnβt the one singing was I?β Irene rolled her eyes, sitting up a little more. She knew very well that she was in the wrong for bothering to stay up, but she certainly didnβt have to feel good about it. Even Echo, the quietest person there, got worked up enough by Cleoβs tone that she left. Shaking her head, Irene lightly nibbled on her chips when Cleo finally asked what happened. She thought about it for a moment, glancing between River, Luka, Daniel, and anyone else who decided to create that monstrosity that she ate. She had every right to be angry, since the concoction was horrid enough to cause her nausea minutes after she ingested it. Though, would telling Cleo really make her satisfied? Sure, they could get it a little bit of trouble because of it, but would she really lower herself to the level of a snitch? Nah. βJust had some bad food, thatβs allβ Irene replied, shooting River a look. She wouldnβt lose. Oh no. Sheβd find some way to get them back, but it would be on her own terms.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pascal looked between Lane, Lucien, and Luka when they seemed amused by his statement. Luka especially, since he was laughing her head off on the other side of the room. He furrowed his brow and looked down at his coffee, his face flushing red with embarrassment. He finished off the mug in a second before he roughly set it down on the table. Turning to leave, he muttered βIβll be in my roomβ He didnβt understand what was so funny with what he said. He wasnβt trying to be funny, he was just trying to be helpful. It frustrated him to no end. Maybe he was tired, or he just wasnβt ready to deal with people that day. It didnβt really matter either way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
βGames, really?β Theo stated, raising a brow, giving off a slight smirk as he shook his head βIsnβt it a bit early for that? They could have at least warned us ahead of time so we wouldnβt have to be woken up by them.β He gave her a bit of a shrug βA bit inconsiderate, but what can you do?β Theo put his fingers through his unkempt hair, a bit ticked off that he didnβt try to fix it before leaving his room. Guess he was going to have to live with it for the time being anyway. βYeah, the noise did wake me upβ Theo said, rubbing the back of his neck as he lifted his head to the side βIβm not a morning person. But hey, at least the food smells good. We might get there before everyone else. Sucks to be themβ He let out a little laugh before turning to Seely, noticing her cheeks seemed to be a little flushed. He didnβt bring it up, since he had his suspicions about what that was about.
Seely could feel Sekhmet waking up in the back of her mind, the goddess having seemed to temper down a bit since their week settling in here. The two had gotten to know more about each other and Seely felt a little more at ease with the angry lioness having picked her to become great. She took an idle sip of her water as Theo spoke, giving a small laugh in response and nodding, βIβm sure it was as impromptu as this whole situation as been.β She chimed lightly in return, referring to the entire mess all the group was in here at the Pantheon. Her own fingers flicked back a bit of her hair from her eyes as they continued down the hallway. βI was awake when I heard the noise, needed some water.β She commented idly, tipping her cup towards him. Seely then noticed for the first time that Theo wasnβt as tall as sheβd thought, now that they were next to each other they were nearly eye to eye. She restrained a small laugh, why had she thought heβd been taller? βWell since weβre up Iβm sure others got woken up by all of that too, so I think heading to the kitchen is a good idea at this point.β She looked back up to Theo again, smiling softly, a hint of tiredness in the expression βWouldnβt want to miss out on any of the fresh goods. But I could use some coffee more than anything.β
βThough, itβs hard to compare βbeing abducted by godsβ to βa game at 4am in the morningββ Theo replied, chuckling a bit βImpromptu or not, they could have at least kept the noise down for the rest of us.β He was very much aware that his views on the whole situation were more positive than most. Frankly, being whisked away to a place where he didnβt have to deal with his past was refreshing. These people didnβt know him, and they didnβt have to. It was the perfect chance to start over. Theo listened to Seelyβs explanation, somewhat half heartedly as he took notice that she wasnβt that much shorter than him. They were pretty much at eye level with each other. He was conflicted about that fact. Sheβd probably end up taller than him if she decided to wear high-heeled shoes. It was just a weird feeling in general. βIf you want coffee, it shouldnβt be too hard to get then,β Theo stated, βIt is in the same room after all.β He didnβt like coffee, but he didnβt need to tell her that.
Eventually, when they made it to the cafe, Theo noticed there was also a faint scent of coffee amid the bakery aroma. He glanced over at the place where the dreaded caffeine maker was and saw the smashed pitcher on the ground in a pool of coffee. βOh, well thatβs a shameβ Theo stated, somewhat relieved that he wouldnβt have to drink it any anytime soon.
Cleoβs comment about the impression of being run over struck Lane. There was no way Cleo knew, right? It was just a figure of speech, surely?
In response, though, Lane gave a laugh, doing her best to keep the nervous edge out of it.
βWell I wouldnβt know, obviously, would I?β she asked
Her head, though, was filled suddenly with headlights and squealing brakes. Breaklights.
That did it, Lane wasnβt getting in a car ever again. Sheβd had one too many bad experiences.
When Echo left, Lane felt a wave of sympathy for the girl. She would go after her, but she didnβt know Echo all that well. Not compared to River or some of the others, who were on more friendly terms with her.
Lucien looked conflicted for a moment, like he wanted to go after Echo and make sure she was alright. She was one of a few people in the Pantheon that he got along with, and he hated that she was upset.
βShould we go check sheβs okay?β Lucien asked, looking to River
River might be able to gauge better than him (since he knew Echo slightly better) whether they should go check on her or whether sheβd rather be left alone.
Honestly, he kinda blamed Cleo for Echo getting worked up enough that she left, but at the same time he didnβt. They couldnβt have predicted Echoβs reaction there, they were just teasing really. Still, Echo was upset and Lucien was concerned.
βYβknow, Iβm not opposed to Speedy Gonzales.β Lane piped up when Luka called her by that nickname βAlso yes, see, Luka likes my voice. Clearly she is cultured.β
The situation with Daniel was amusing enough to the blue-haired girl, who didnβt believe for a second that heβd gone back there for any other reason than that he was scared of Cleo. Not that she blamed him, Cleo was scary sometimes.
βMaybe Daniel just likes being behind the couch and none of us should shame him for that,β Lane joked with a shrug
Pascal going to leave, though, made Lane feel really guilty, and when he moved to leave she stood to stop him. He was clearly embarrassed, and she didnβt want him to feel that way.
βNo, weβre sorry, donβt go.β she urged apologetically βwe were just teasing, we didnβt mean anything by it. We didnβt mean to upset you.β
Clementine Lester || Luka Ravana
Clementine glared at Daniel, a perfectly trimmed eyebrow rose in curiosity, "If it's unsafe, why did you jump back there?" They questioned, seeming unimpressed, though their gaze flickered to Lane. They rolled their eyes, her response was weird, but they weren't about to talk to her more, especially since she seemed even more insane than usual.
Luka for her part grinned in triumph, already playing up to the part, "I have conquered over the bloody great Portal Maste-Trainee!" She threw her hands over the side of the couch, kicking out her legs and slinking into the comfy cushions, though her half-lidded gaze focused on Pascal, opening on eyes fully.
"I tease everyone, Cal, no need to get offended," She yawned then, smirking down at Kaz, her head peeking above the armrest, eventually she needed to go to her room and change, but she quite liked being around everyone, not being expected to be quiet, not expected to be isolated to her room, it was nice.
She glanced slightly at Lucien, yawning for good measure, "I'm sure Lorenzo will be expecting you for sunrise watching duty." She snickered out.
Daniel started to panic as he realized that Cleo may actually figure out why he had dived behind the couch "Ummm, well I noticed everyone was coming in so I figured I would rush and get it picked up before someone cut themselves. Also, I may not have thoroughly thought it through" he said as his face started to turn red before he started to move away from the couch and over to where the bottle had hit the wall. He just hoped Cleo didn't notice that his hands were empty as he moved over to the bottle. He looked over at Lane and gave her a small smile of thanks for trying to help him
Despite his often arrogant demeanor and slightly pompous air, Theo was surprisingly easy to talk to. She laughed lightly as he mentioned the difference between the two situations and nodded in agreement, βIβm sure a lot of us are happier to be here than where we used to be though.β She returned softly. A slightly sad tone hinted at the edges of her words. Though still she smiled and that soft German accent moved its way across her words. Seely gave a light sigh of relief as they reached the kitchen, βFinally something to wake me up!β A bright chime as they headed to get some coffee for the morning. However, as they rounded the corner her eyes fell on the mess of glass and handle that was the now destroyed coffee pot. βOh, well thatβs just sad.β She muttered as she crossed her arms, holding her water carefully, βThe least they could do is clean it up, before someone got hurtβ She sighed heavily and looked around for a moment, glancing to Theo before shrugging and laughing, βI supposed thatβs just how this sort of morning would turn out though.β She set down her cup of water and then crouched down, beginning to carefully pick up leftover bits of coffee pot and place them into a pile to be thrown out. βI wonder who even did this.β She murmured almost to herself. After she gathered a small pile of glass her eyes moved back up to Theo, βWould you, umm,β a small pause for thought, βgrab me some paper towels for all of this?β Another small blush as she looked to him from where she crouched on the floor.
Clementine Lester
Clementine simply rolled their eyes at Daniel, leaving the room to go eat breakfast, as Luka herself went to go change.
They spotted Lorenzo in the kitchen, already cooking as he always did, and took a seat at the table, diving into their sausage and eggs as soon as the plate was placed before them.
Things went haywire about an hour after that, around 5am, or was it 6:00am? They weren't really paying attention. All that they knew, is they were heading to the main room, spotting some of the other Ascendants chattering, eating, or being stupid(like usual). And suddenly?
Suddenly, like they came to the Pantheon, objects that had with them started to glow in various colors. Cleo could spot Luka, jumping like a spooked cat as her own umbrella started glowing an eerie green-blue. Echo, who was heading to her room, head tucked tight to her chest, had her necklace light up in a soft golden-white glow. Lorenzo, who was still in the kitchen, came out to the hallway to see the ruckus, and his ring was marigold. Even Guinevere, with her rose-quarts hairpin was bathed in magenta.
Clementine blinked, confused as could be as one-by-one, and sometimes many at a time, the Ascendants left as they came. Almost like they were falling as they seemed to disappear into portals and other such.
When all was said and done, Cleo was left to their own devices in a much more empty Pantheon. They almost smiled, finally some peace and silence. They were worried, not like they would ever admit it, though Ma'at quickly reassured them.
"You will see in due time, Clementine, just keep the order for now," She softly commanded.
"I'm not complaining if I finally get some peace and quiet."
