Dovewing

She was honestly a selfish brat. And I don't say that lightly considering all the mess she's dragged others into for over two arcs, and SE and novella. (Actually it's probably bleeding into a third arc now with her dumb family drama.) I'm honestly just tired of her popping up constantly and shoved down our throats. And I find the argument, "But she's a good mom!!1!" a dumb excuse for her actions in the past that were never punished to the point it's actually noted on in the current arc. Her choices were stupid which made her nothing but a disappointment in my eyes. Messing up now and then is okay, but doing it constantly and not contributing to the plot starts to make you intolerable.

I don't like her, and being a "good mother" doesn't excuse the fact that she put herself and unborn kits in danger and manipulated Tigerheart. Her family has always been there for her, especially Whitewing, and she betrayed them.

She may be tolerable now but she's still a selfish character who only cares about herself. Her betrayal is unforgivable. She shouldn't have put so many cats in danger because of their dreams.

She also keeps dragging cats into her problems about Tigerheart, and then BEGS for help when she brought these problems upon herself. You betrayed the code and messed up. What do you expect, Dovewing? Sympathy? Someone to hold your paw?

I don't blame her for running away from Bumblestripe. He was absolutely horrible to her. But she was a jerk to everyone else.

i've somehow literally never really been annoyed by her, i like her. so little people share this opinion that i'm starting to believe i was cursed.

Bad and annoying protagonist in OotS when I first read it, not sure how I’d feel about her now. Novella was fine. Haven’t read any recent books featuring her.

She would’ve been better without the love drama for sure, but to be completely honest I don’t remember anything she did in OotS outside of talking to Jay and Lion, arguing with Ivy, stopping the beavers, and the love drama.

It would’ve been interesting if she was in denial about the powers at first. That would’ve made for a cool character arc.

I really like her, and I think she gets too much hate from the fandom.

The second they brought her garbage love life back into the spotlight, I gave up on her. I don’t hate her, but the less I see and hear of her, the better.

she was annoying in OotS because of her love problems that made no sense. i still believe there was no actual reason for her to like tigerheart because the beaver journey didn't make them have any "special" moments or anything. and you dont see squirrelflight whinning to have her journey friends back, do you? literally only dovewing was like that for no reason. boo hoo.

her story should have revolved around her powers and the prophecy, not around love drama that truly over stayed its welcome. her and tigerheart should have stayed broken up to show maturity and growth, since their relationship was highly toxic in OotS . so of course, tons of people would be pissed that the writers were dragging it out again by bringing their relationship drama back up in AVOS. and tigerhearts shadow made their relationship EVEN WORSE.

and since someone brought up dovewing in the anti-leafpool thread. yes, dovewing got off even MORE scott free. she is a clan traitor for such a lame reason. there is no excuse she can't stay loyal to her family clan. there is no excuse that she "cant find happiness" in her own damn clan. her leaving for shadowclan just bc her mate is deputy and eventually leader? that made her situation even more easy to get out of in terms of any judgment or punishment. since tigerheart is leader, no one should or could judge or criticize him for having a half clan relationship. it's a bunch of easy BS for dovewing. *this* is why i call her a defector, a traitor, etc. unlike leafpool, dovewing actually betrayed her clan and left it, whereas leafpool was leaving all of the clans to become a loner. but switching clans to get with the leader of shadowclan is a next level of betrayal since no one can punish her if her mate is leader somewhere else.

dovewing is way better now as a mother in TBC. it's proof tigerxdove should have moved clans way sooner to save us the horrible dragged out drama, but as i said, their relationship SUCKED in OotS so no one was mature enough to leave clans yet...which is total BS. if their relationship sucked so bad then they should have stayed broken up in the first place after OotS. not saying she had to get with bumblestripe. cats like squirrelflight, dovewing, and ivypool should have stayed single to save us all the trouble.

and the reason people only talk about her love life and not her actual powers or struggles is because the books made us focus on her love life so much. it's all i relate her with. when i think of dovewing, i think of the horrible love drama and how much it ruined everything, therefore i dont like dovewing because thats all i associate her with.

I don't like her that much.

Annoying, whiny, selfish cat. She continually whined in OOTS about her powers. Like I get you've got this incredible power and such, but I do not ever recall Lionblaze or Jayfeather complaining this much. Not to mention the overdone romance with Tigerheart.

Then, TigerxDove is reintroduced to us, and she leaves ThunderClan on the simple basis of "funny dreams" without telling anyone and didn't even tell Tigerheart about her pregnancy. When she did, she gave him the absurd ultimatum of "me and the unborn kits I just told you about, or the Clan you're struggling to keep together". From what I remember in Tigerheart's Shadow, she didn't even plan on returning to the Clans until Shadowkit had a vision of Ivypool's kits despite Tigerheart feeling quite guilty over leaving his kin and Clan. Then after she returns, she drops in on ThunderClan, who were worried sick about her, and just drops that she's now Tigerstar's mate and betrayed them for ShadowClan, and doesn't understand why ThunderClan thinks she's a traitor. Like...she had the full intention of visiting them until Bramblestar was like "uh, no". If she wants to talk to her former Clanmates, that's what gatherings are for! Trekking between territories to see how they're doing isn't good. Not to mention she expected them to be completely fine with this sudden and drastic decision? And then she gets upset when ThunderClan considers her a traitor to them. Like, you decided to betray the friends and family you had there because you were "unhappy". I guess their feelings are irrelevant. I get she's a decent enough mother and all, but I really do not think it justifies the amount of drama that's happened because of her. 

People who know me know I can rant for a long time on her. So, dislike. If you like her, that's fine. But I can't bring myself like her at all. 

dovewing hate is filled with emotional and largely illogical vitriol and it's not fun to argue about it for that reason

i just think she's neat

I used to despise Dovewing but after re-reading OOTS and reading the pdf of Dovewing's Silence I've grown to love her. She shouldn't have been dragged back together with Tigerheart; she deserves so much better than him. At least she's happy in ShadowClan, I guess.
