i live close to part of the ozark national forest in arkansas, and i think a lot of the landscapes and formations there and in the ozark mountains in general would make for a good clan! ive been scrounging up pics as inspiration for parts of the territory, but not all of it is set in stone yet. i also have a couple name ideas but they're not very unique lol im going to keep the info and stuff i wanna use so far in this planning page i want there to be more landmarks like the old territories had, and i know the ozark national forest has plenty of cool places. in the clan, there will be landmarks inspired by real ones, but they won't be placed in actual relation to each other, they'll be much closer than they are in real life lol that forest is huge also i need to come up with, like, you know, a plotline lol not sure how dramatic i want to go with it yet if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, im very open to them!! Tree types: oak and hickory Camp (they would live in smaller caves inside): Territory (in general image of the forest, maybe that ledge could be something lol): The Creek (big creek that just runs through the territory): The Bluffs (good place to hunt or train): Twin Falls (good place to fish/collect materials if that's a thing they do???): Tall Rock (apprentices could train on top or below the formations, gotta be careful lol, maybe could be used for something else???): Moondrop Cave (starclan meeting place, at the bottom): also there's this valley that could be used? and also this little number, i love it but idk what it could be used for other than slipping and falling constantly lol Prey: Squirrel Chipmunk Turkey Birds Shrews Moles Mice Predators: Black Bears Eagles Bobcats Foxes Cougars Other Animals:Deer - not aggressive Elk - aggressive, don't provoke, avoid if possible Turkey Vultures - don't attack live prey but will try to steal your kills if you don't hide them well enough, avoid their nests

I’m definitely down to help too. I can’t code but I like to think I’m good at throwing ideas around or other little things.
also I’m having my meds adjusted so no matter what I can’t sleep anyway and helping keeps me happy

at the moment im trying to think of how the territory is set up, and functions for the different landmarks cuz there probably isn't a necessity for more than one training place or something lol
also id like to create some traditions or stories that are unique to them, every time i look at that pic of the tall rock/pedestal rocks i think of apprentices telling each other only the strongest warrior can clear that jump, but then no one ever tries cuz they're chickens lol
and uh i would love help with coding but that comes later i think lol
I'm going to keep looking for more landmarks (that haven't been commercialized and have pics of people all over them >.> )

Perhaps they have issues with trying to stay well hidden, and sometimes have issues with twolegs (usually tourists) poking around too close for comfort. I can imagine twolegs like park rangers being less of a hassle.
Oooh maybe the tourists are referred to as something like Seasonal Twolegs?

Oooh maybe the tourists are referred to as something like Seasonal Twolegs? oh yes i was hoping to include the twolegs somewhere, they would especially like poke around the tall rock and anything else they can climb, making it harder to hunt in newleaf and greenleaf lol luckily their camp and the bluffs aren't as easy for twolegs to access i do like the seasonal twoleg idea, warning apprentices to not stray to certain areas, and teaching them how and where to hide if necessary sounds like hunting for them can suck in all four seasons then lol rip

It also makes for an easy source of conflict that doesn’t limit who can be involved
also how tall are those tall rocks, I can imagine there have been incidents with apprentices falling in the past, so it’s somewhere that now they aren’t exactly supposed to go without a mentor.

I don’t have numbers but for reference here are some people standing on the ledge beside it: And a shot of another one nearby from below: So uh probably not gonna feel good if a cat falls off I think

Lionpaw’s Pride? Or just Lion’s Pride?

Oh I love lionpaw’s pride, it could be a specific rock in the tall rocks that a poor apprentice had fallen off of at the start of the clan And eventually they may have started calling the whole thing lionpaw’s pride??
I didn’t see the part where you said he was a legend who climbed it and my mind went straight to “he DIED” I’m crying
and yes lord of the rings is the only option at this point, I just find it so funny cuz usually the ozarks are stereotyped for having hillbillies lol

So cute!!!
Honestly I can see a lot in those pics that seem as if it wouldn’t be hard to spell out bad accidents. Perhaps being steady in your steps and sure of where your paws are going is important trait to the clan.
Another brainstorm idea! Medicine Cats work a bit different than they would in the books. There’s so potential, especially for accidentally injuries that the medicine cats don’t work alone, but have also trained a small group of cats as “healers”. These cats do much of what the medicine cat does, however they don’t have any connection with StarClan, or whatever they believe in. Before a medicine cat dies, a sign is sent from starclan to point towards which healer would become of the new medicine cat.
Almost like a mini hospital ig

Took ages to climb up, much shorter down

Yes definitely need to be careful around there, reminds me of the tribe and them literally shuffling around on the ledges to get down the mountain lol
And I love that idea! Especially since getting injured can be much more serious around here, a lot of it is due to falling or slipping. The cats probably developed hard paw pads and stronger muscles but being bigger or smaller isn’t necessarily more advantageous than the other
In fact being smaller might help so you can watch your steps and weave around the rocks and waterfalls easier
Bro poor lionpaw, can we get an F

F for our boy Lionpaw. May he be great in StarClan.
It’d make sense for their claws needing to be strong as well, it’s likely being able to cling would be a skill that could save their lives.

Perhaps it’s the spirits of certain cats who become symbols for different traits like bravery and kindness. There’s a few who are well known to all cats, But just about any fan who dies can be seen as an avatar for a certain tribute if it fits that cats.
Which comes to another idea, no clue if it’d be a separate cat, or just a medicine cat, whose job is to keep track of every life or death in the clan, perhaps like the stick of the fallen or by scratches in the walls of caves. Apprentices are typically brought in to learn about their ancestors and find one they feel resonates with them the most.
Okay I’m sorry if this came out sort of convoluted but i am currently in this mental place and probably won’t stop unless you need me to
Also seriously these are all just suggestion, no pressure to use them.

I’m gonna sleep but I will check back in tomorrow and make some updates

Maybe they are called the record keeper!
I dunno I just really like the thought of cats being able to have to choice to not just be a warrior. That there’s multiple parts that keep the clan running and they’re all important. Some cats are trained to handle the upkeep of the camps and keep them as well out of sight from the seasonal twolegs as possible. They’re typically very crafty, and know how to make the best of what they’ve got.
So far there’d be warriors, healers, and builders. The record keeper perhaps has maybe one apprentice, however they take many, many moons to train, and the current record keeper can only retire until they are sure that their apprentice has finally surpassed them in knowledge. Not many cats choose to take on the role of record keeper at a young age either. While the other three groups have no regulations when it comes to breeding, it’s often encouraged for the record keeper apprentice to keep a distance for as long as they train. It’s not specifically a rule, just discouraged.
Perhaps the clan believes that with every landmark, there is a story that must be told! Perhaps some cats are even trained to explore and sniff out the clues to the clan’s far history. Like cat archaeologists!
This is fun and I’m afraid I’ll lose muse if I go to sleep but still I really should at least try to close me eyes
Perhaps new apprentices are given about a moon to learn the basics of each faction before they can decide how they want to serve the clan.

I do like the warriors, healers, and builders roles. Technically all three are trained the basics of hunting and defending themselves, but they also learn things separate from other apprentices. Also you can choose to change to another role as an adult, as long as someone is available to train you.
I think a cool thing would be that, since there would be multiple cats available to heal, medicine cats are allowed to have mates and children. However, they don’t believe leaders should be having mates and kits, as their focus should be on the clan as a whole. The rule applies to all cats, not just she-cats. A cat simply isn’t eligible for leadership if they have a mate or kits, and if it’s found out they do have a relationship they will have to step down. In the same vein, deputies couldn’t have mates or kits either.
I’m not sure how fair this rule would be (neither is the medicine cat rule lol) but its kinda interesting and could maybe add some small drama??
At first I was thinking something like oakclan or hickoryclan for the name but there’s like a ton of water and rocks here too so there’s more possibility for a unique name lol
