"I mean... I guess," Emma replied apprehensively. Underwater cities and dragons did seem cool, but she couldn't help herself to think about the what ifs. Like, what if the dragon bit her! But, Leon was right. Maybe it was time for both of them to get out and explore for themselves.

Leon turns around and leans his back against the railing. "That's just me. Besides takes a lot of coin to get on one of the bigger ships." He pointed out.

"Yeah, you're right," Emma nodded as she replied. "Plus, I barely make enough coin as it is." Emma worked as an alchemist's apprentice and, although she was thankful to have work, she was constantly worried about how to make ends meet.

(Sorry I haven't been on today! It's been a busy day  ) "Tell me about it," Emma sighed. "The days are long and the work is hard. I mainly became an apprentice because of my parents, so you can imagine that it isn't the life that I dreamt for myself. But, I guess money is money, right?" she said as she stared more intently at the ships. Maybe that was why she always questioned where the ships went. Maybe she was tired of her life being so boring all the time. "Anyways," Emma asked, "what are you doing nowadays to make some coin for yourself?" |

"I mainly deliver mail and packages to people." Leon explained moving his hands into his pockets. He was constantly moving about but at least he got to know people and the different houses everywhere. "And sometimes, I help local blacksmiths."

"Oh, that's interesting! It sounds a lot more enjoyable than my apprenticeship, especially since you get to go all over the city," Emma exclaimed. "What do you do to help local blacksmiths?" Emma had always been interested in other jobs, especially because she thought about what it would be like to leave her apprenticeship more often than not.

"Usually, helping them if they are working something big." Leon explained. Aside from the heat, he liked seeing how the blacksmith could shape and mold the metal into whatever they wanted.

"I love when they do weapons or hilts with ornate designs or words on them." Leon said smiling a bit as he thought about it. "Oh and once saw one of the men make a really cool bone ax."

"Wow," Emma exclaimed, "that is pretty cool! I would love to do a job like that. Not only do you get to meet all kinds of different people, but you get to design all kinds of weapons."

"Occasionally." Leon says shaking his head. "I'm not nearly creative enough to create half the things the smiths come up with. That and they have fire powers."

“Yes, not having fire powers would definitely make their job a lot harder to do,” Emma chuckled. “Although they had to go through rigorous years of training to learn their powers, so not a lot of us could do their job anyways.”

"Sounds good to me," Emma replied as she sped up to walk side by side with Leon. "It's such a calm evening. You know, I wish every evening could feel like this, but with tensions building between the cities..." she said as her voice trailed off. She didn't want to ruin their with her anxious thoughts, so she figured she better move on from the conversation.

Leon frowns a little and nods his head in agreement. He hoped the conflict would come to a close but that didn't appear to be happening anytime soon. "Lets enjoy it now before something terrible happens." That had been a pretty nasty riot some years ago and many worried another could happen at any moment.

"I very much like that idea," Emma said with a weak smile. As they walked through the city, Emma let the sights and sounds wash over her to drown out her thoughts. She always loved this time of evening because the sky surrounding the city would turn from a dark blue to a beautiful mixture of pinks and purples. Not only that, but the city itself came alive as its inhabitants walked around, chatting with one another.

Leon sees a few lanterns being lit and nudges Emma. "Look!" He said hoping seeing the lanterns lighting up and slowly drifting up into the sky would make her feel better.

Emma’s smile began to widen and she linked arms with Leon. At that moment, everything seemed like it was going to be okay. Leon always knew how to make her feel better, especially because they had been friends for so many years.

Leon grinned and continued to walk through the streets. He takes in the smells around him and debates on getting a quick snack or not. He wasn't super hungry but could snack on something. "Say do you want a snack or are you okay?"

“Yeah, that sounds great,” Emma exclaimed as they walked towards the vendor. “Ya know, I haven’t had this stuff since I was a kid. It always reminds me of evenings that I would walk around the city with my parents looking at all the lights. Kind of like tonight,” she smiled.

Leon buys two cloud candies and hands some coin over to the vendor. He waits as the vendor prepares the candy for them. "I used to be obsessed with cloud candies." He remarked shaking his head. "At one point, my mom had to force me not to eat them all the time."
