This is what I mean
Have you ever read a certain series with its main antagonist and thought, "Man, they could've given him more potential to be a bigger villain," Or, "They made them sound so much bigger than they really were?"
The Erins do that a lot, and it makes you wonder, which villain could've had the most potential?
Mine personally is either Mapleshade or Sol, because they were both hyped up, but then fell flat on their face in the end.
Anyways, who do you guys think? Feel free to give an answer as to why you chose them.

Hawkfrost could have been so much better and he was for sure done dirty. Oh yeah, I forgot about Hawkfrost. You're right, he could've been much better, but they killed him off almost as if he were a background character. At least until he died.

Darktail would've been fine if they just kept him around for longer. Honestly I didn't mind the twist in SS, it didn't hurt his character at all for me. (Onestar on the other hand...) I think it would've been cool if he got more and more paranoid with each book with more cats turning on him, so he gets more ruthless.

Sol would've been better off without his manga smh. His pity party of a backstory was underwhelming at best, same going for Mapleshade.

Sol, definately. I've become a Sol stan recently, so I'll explain why I think he's wasted potential. They introduced him as this mystical figure with the manipulative brain power to take over a clan. He was SMART. He always had others do things for him, so that was always in his character to use and puppet others. Plus, he was the only outsider villain to know about Midnight and learn the clan's secrets from her. That is major potential right there to make him important, to be the only outsider to get a lot of secrets from Midnight. We know he manipulates others, so who knows what he actuallty got out of Midnight.
But sadly, Skyclan's manga really ruined Sol for a lot of people and that's what I am salty about. His backstory was horribly lame and his temper tantrum at the end of the comic was totally out of character and immature...
If that manga didn't ruin the fandom's view of Sol, he could have become something bigger since he had a connection to Midnight and had extremely charismatic manipulative skills.

There's quite a few that are wasted potential, but I voted for Darktail. He died way too soon. Mapleshade and Sol could have been better, too.

In order: Darktail, Sol, Hawkfrost, BloodClan (all or one of their members could have made a wicked comeback - their way of life is so interesting & a stark difference from the Clans), Mapleshade

I just wish Mapleshade had a bigger death count.

Between Mapleshade and Darktail, Hawkfrost too if he was an option.

I feel like they should have made Scourge and BloodClan a bigger/more REALISTIC threat instead of being thrown in at the end. They were just kind of there to be a big bad and Scourge/Tiny's backstory was a complete afterthought when it shouldn't have been. Even if they only stretched it out for another book or so just to give it some depth and drama.

Definitely Sol. Had StarClan not magically popped up in front of Blackstar (like seriously when was the last time they did that), ShadowClan might still not believe in StarClan which honestly might have been more interesting for future plotlines. He could have even taken over WindClan since so many of their warriors still seemed to dislike Onestar at the time, and you can bet Onestar wouldn't have taken one step towards any clans for help so he would have been toast. Sol could have even ended up teaming with Hollyleaf while she was going crazy- no doubt Sol would have taken advantage of that- and just like that the power of three series would have been so much more interesting. He wasn't invincible and I think that ultimately he would have been defeated by a bunch of his followers seeing a leader come back to life again and realize "oh crap we've been duped", so yeah ultimately Sol couldn't fool them for long but it would be entertaining to see in a rather flat series.

Darktail 100%. Genuinely scary. He should’ve lasted longer than book 3.
