“Well, you can still cheer for us…or for Kumiko cause I’m definitely not at her skill level,”Spencer laughed a little, letting the girls lead the way. Spencer’s face obviously shifted from a cheery grin to a pained smile. “Wondefuuuul, you’re right I already regret it,”she groaned in response, but it was evident she meant it humorously, a smile still on her face. “Alright…I guess I’m going to get gains today,”she said, a little more determined. At least facing camp activities was less intimidating with some friends on her side.
(I’m just gunna keep Nat exactly where she is until Echo gets in there)

Kassie's eyes closed the moment she heard where Kumiko planned to take them for practice. She brought her arms up against her chest, a light tremble to her hands. The climbing wall was something Kassie tried to avoid most days, and by most, she avoided it entirely when possible. Whoever believed that the climbing wall needed an extra challenge needed to be tested for insanity as lava was just a bit extreme. "Woo..." Kassie voice trailed off. The images of ice rinks, skiing resorts, and tall snowy mountains pictured throughout her brain until the warmth crept in and set all those places aflame. "Definitely gonna be sitting out this one. As a daughter of Hecate, I am able to control elemental powers similar to what Zeus' children can do with lightning." Kassie said as they walked toward the camp activity. "My specialty is cyrokinesis, or as others put it. Ice powers. Heat, fire, warmth, etcetera is not a positive experience for me."

“Ice powers?!”Spencer’s eyes widened,”that is so cool!…so you could just…produce ice? Like right now?”Spencer asked Kassie, blue eyes bright. In her opinion, ice was way more fun than lightening. (I like miss Kassie :3 she’s fun )

“Well, I can’t say that I blame you for that.” Echo said with a small laugh, pausing briefly once they entered the pavilion. It seemed like lunch was in full swing now given how big the crowd was. She scanned the crowd quickly as she made her way through, her eyes picking out the familiar faces of some of her friends. Echo gave a small wave to Kumiko, who seemed to be on her way out with Kassie and the new girl.
Kumiko giggled as she made her way out of the pavilion, waving back at Echo as she passed her friend. “I told you guys would regret leaving it up to me. This is mostly for your benefit, Spencer. The sooner you start training, the better you’ll be able to protect yourself and anyone that’s close to you!” She said in a serious tone, wanting to make sure that she understood just how important it was for them to train.

Nat got up when her eyes landed on Echo, seeing her arrive. She made her way swiftly past people, beelining for her friend and also passing a wave goodbye to Kumiko, Kassie, and Spencer as they left the dining pavilion. “Hey!”she greeted Echo, happy to see her friend. She nodded to Shadow,”hi how’s it going,”she said offering a friendly smile.
Spencer nodded seriously,”of course, I know this is something I need to do. I’m actually a little excited. I’m sure it’s gunna hurt but…at least it will be fun too,”she said with a grin, walking along with her. “…and I’m looking forward to being able to protect myself…better,”she added, thinking back to her experience with a monster, and knowing she didn’t want to feel so weak or scared.

Cat walked along the shore of the beach barefoot, enjoying the way the waves felt on her feet as she walked on the sand. Jinx was perched on her shoulder, giving small chirps here and there as Cat walked to make sure the blind girl didn’t stray too far into the water.

Jared was sitting on the shore, leaning back on his hands with his eyes closed. After his sparring session with Sasha, he had headed off to the beach to cool off, so now he sat there shirtless and in his swim trunks, listening to the sound of the waves lapping at the shore and trying to get over the fact that he had lost to her. He had yet to notice Cat walking along the shore with Jinx, mumbling under his breath as he tossed pebbles into the water.

Cat came to stop when she felt something hit her knee, a light frown forming on her face, “Ow! Hey, what was that for?” Cat said, turning her head towards the mumbling voice. Jinx gave an irritated chirp, turning her head sharply to glare at Jared, her dislike for the boy clear in the way she ruffled her feathers at him.

Jared looked up in surprise at the “ow” to see Cat facing him with her bird eyeing him, feathers ruffled. “Cat! Hey! Um did that hit you? I’m sorry I didn’t see you there, I was looking down,”he explained, voice gentle and sincere. He scowled back at Jinx, wondering why the bird hated him so much. “You on the other head…I’m not sorry,”he said pointedly to the bird.

Jinx snapped her beak sharply at Jared, his words only aggravating her more. Cat reached up and placed a calming hand on Jinx’s back, “What’s with you today? You’re in a sour mood.” Cat commented, relaxing a bit when she recognized Jared’s voice.

"Right? I was reading about them in an old book my dad gave me and they're apparently a little tricky to get to grow. They require a bit of technique and the proper growing conditions, which aren't hard to maintain but without a proper starting kit it can come with some difficulties. Like, you have to sterilize and inoculate the growth substrate and that honestly takes the most-" Frances cut herself off when she realized she had started to drone on and on, "...time." She cleared her throat and offered another sheepish smile, she was full of them apparently, and ran a hand through her curly blonde hair. Then she made sure to listen as Nathaniel talked about his cabin life, and part of her felt bad while also harboring a tinge of jealousy about how full his cabin was. Not that she ever wanted to fight with her half-siblings, because she'd never really been in an argument before. The Demeter cabin felt so small sometimes since there was only three of them, it was easy to miss each other when everyone had busy days. She figured there was always someone hanging around the Ares cabin. Then again, she didn't think she could deal with the rage. "I think that's fair. I bet it can feel exhausting sometimes having to play mediator all of the time. At this point I'm sure you're an expert!" Frances was trying to make light of the situation, but she'd never been known has a comedy expert. also in general im gonna be pretty slow with replies until probably Sunday) “Sounds… interesting.” Nathaniel said, slightly surprised by how quickly she started to ramble. He just hoped this surprise meeting wouldn’t take all that long, he wanted to hear what Levin had learned during his little investigation and how he could use it to his advantage. “I suppose I’m just used to making sure those knuckleheads don’t cause any problems. It doesn’t really bother me all that much anymore.” He added, crossing his arms and giving a small shrug. Levin had already procured up an illusion to hide himself in plain sight as he lounged lazily in one of the branches above Frances and Nathanial. While he was a little irked to have to wait for his wonderful information sharing with the Ares boy, he did find it humorous to listen to Frances ramble. Poor girl was probably overexcited to talk about a subject she liked. Levin couldn’t blame her. He watched silently, his magic making him invisible to the eye, and his trained silence keeping sounds away from the ears. |

Jared stumbled back a little, surprised at the force she put back against his kick. Jared growled, contemplating just tackling her, but he swung his sword towards her again after the block she had made to his kick. He was acting on pure adrenaline now, furious that his attempt to disarm her was unsuccessful, continuing to charge at her with hard and fast strikes. (She can use his little blind rage moment to take him down lol 😆) Christian grimaced, feeling for his sister and the emptiness of missing out on a carefree life. He placed a gentle hand on her back in comfort, sighing. His thoughts wandered to what he would have done if he were a normal person in the outside world. He definitely would have done more sports, he liked science so he probably would have learned more about physics. Maybe he would have been an astronaut. How cool would that be? But he felt that there was no chance for that. Not in this life and not as him. “Yeah…we can’t…but at least we will be rid of the gods soon enough. And this came,”he muttered quietly under his breath. —————— Spencer nodded to Kumiko,”yeah, I’m ready to go. And we can do whatever you guys are interested in. You’re the camp veteran,”she said, easy going as ever as she got up from the table. “I’m still not sure what people do around here for fun,”she added, thinking that she’d mostly heard only about training from other campers. (Yeah, we can do that!) Sasha had watched Jared go after they had finished the spar. She felt a coil of victory knowing that she had pretty much won, though she was convinced that Jared would want a rematch sooner or later. Even so, she quietly inspected her sword for any damage in the now quiet area of the training hall. “Yeah… it better work. After it’s all done, maybe we can move to like. Miami or something. Cancun. Warm, sunny, I dunno.” Lyra mused, before she shook her head. “Now I’m just rambling, ugh. Lenny’s taking forever, you’d think he’d be back by now.” |

Juniper couldn’t help but give a little laugh herself at Tatum’s teasing. “Well, duh. Course I know that, but that’s the perks of having a big strong boyfriend is that he’ll do my fighting for me.” She said and playfully stuck her tongue out at the other. She was talking about Nathaniel, of course. They’d been dating since their early teens, since before he went on his first quest, and was there to support him when it had ultimately failed. While she’d never admit it, but she noticed a change in Nathaniel after that. It was subtle at first, but to Juniper it was undeniable. Still, he didn’t act any differently towards their relationship, even if it felt like they were just going through the motions at this point. Plus they were in love, or at least she was convincing herself they still were. If there was no solid reason to break up then why should they? They were a compatible and good looking couple. “I guess it wouldn’t hurt if I brushed up on my shortsword skills. Maybe you can show me a thing or two with that spear of yours.” She said, squeezing Tate’s arm and letting her thin fingers brush along the cuff her half sister wore that concealed her weapon of choice. Josie shook her head and held her hands up in a dismissive manner. “Hey no need to apologize, I forget how much of a scaredy cat you are sometimes.” She teased him with a grin before it softened into a smile. “But really, it’s totally okay. No one got hurt so it’s really no biggie.” She told him, trying to be reassuring. Maybe she should’ve been more frustrated or chewed Malcom out, but she was the one who tried to startle him. He was only acting accordingly. When he finally admitted to what he was really doing, Josie couldn’t help but snort, an amused look on her face now as she crossed her arms over her chest. “I was wondering what you were up to. Find out anything cool?” She asked in a slight whisper, leaning in like just in case anyone happened to hear. Which seemed pretty silly considering no one else was around them. - - - - Melody looked impressed by that. While she loved being outdoors, especially during the summer, she couldn’t recall ever having gone camping. It was one of those ‘normal kid’ experiences she’d never had. It was hard to go on vacations when there could be a random monster attack. “Wow, that’s actually pretty cool! I’ll keep that one in mind.” Melody gave a small chuckle of her own, leaning on the arm rest of the rocking chair and resting her chin on her closed fist. Then she gave a shrug and tilted her head. “I saw you and thought I’d say hi. I’m honestly just trying to kill time before I have to go in to the infirmary, see if they need my help or if the supplies need to be stocked up.” She told him honestly. There was no real reason per say, but she always did enjoy her conversations with Lloyd whenever they got the chance to talk or hang out.
Frances very quickly could feel herself starting to get embarrassed after rambling on. She was really trying to work hard on not doing that to strangers. Well, not that Nathaniel was a stranger, but he was older than her and they didn’t talk much. She only felt comfortable going up to him because he was a counselor, and she’d thought he was actually a stranger only a few minutes ago. She smiled politely at what he said next. “I’m sure they appreciate that to some extent, and if they don’t then they definitely should.” She nodded after she spoke, her blonde curls bouncing. Blind to Levin hovering just above them, invisible to the both of them, Frances started to take a step back. “ Well, I think I should probably head back. Check on the strawberries. You know how it is.” She fought the urge to physically face palm herself. Why would she say that? Of course Nathaniel wouldn’t know what it was like tending to the strawberry fields. Before she could embarrass herself any more than she already has, the younger daughter of Demeter turned and hurried off. “Bye Nathaniel! See you around!” And as quickly as she has appeared, Frances was gone. |

Malcom gave an affronted snort at Josie’s comment, though he merely swatted her shoulder. “Oiii, settle down. I ain’t afraid of anything.” He crossed his arms, looking utterly disappointed. “Nothin’ interesting so far. Just cabins, gardens, I was gonna steal a carrot or two, thought better of it. I’d sneak around the Hephaestus Cabin, but there’s too much sharp metal. Don’t wanna get an infection.” He snorted, before he admitted. “I’m used to skyscrapers and alleyways, not cabins and trees.”
Lloyd offered a small smile, grateful for the company. “It’s nice to have someone to talk to. Compared to most Cabins, mine is pretty empty. Sure, it’s peaceful and easy for me to keep things tidy, but it’s also too quiet at times.” He fiddled with the edge of the book before he put it down all-together. “Hey. Would you or the others mind if I helped you in the infirmary? I always wanted to see how you all did your healing. And, well, help in any way I can?”

She’s just trying to be social.” Levin crooned, wisps of smoke melding him back into image as he nimbly leaped down from the tree. Brushing off his shirt, Levin eyed the son of Ares with a catty grin. “But, I will say. I’ve got something to tell you that you might actually care about. Because I was right about Phoenix. Why you needed it in metaphorical writing instead of taking my word is beyond me, but I’ve done what you asked.” Pulling out the pendant from his neck, he watched it gleam every few seconds. “Right now, she’s probably cleaning up her forge station. She’s clearly brushed by the other pendant piece I put on her desk. Because this only responds to the blood of Hectate. Which. She has.” He purred. |

As they arrived to the Dining Pavilion, Shadow's face slowly fell as he glanced around at many of the campers gathered for lunch. Thankfully, he saw no one occupying the Cabin 13 table as he wouldn't have to interact with his half-siblings for now. As his gaze turned back to Echo, Shadow come face to face with Nat in front of them. Shadow nodded a small greeting to Nat then turned to Echo. "I'll see you later Echo," he said. From there he moved along the side of the pavilion until he was in front of the food. Picking his way through the options today, he chose a simple sandwich of ham, cheese, and some pickle spears on the side. He picked up a drink cup on his way to the Hades table before sitting down and starting in on his lunch. His eyes stayed on the plate in front of him, but his ears listened closely to the campers around him. ------------------ Kassie's mouth creased into a sheepish grin and she flicked her good hand quickly toward the ground about ten feet from them. An icicle the size of a dagger protruded from the dirt and Kassie smiled. "I'll show you more later if you'd like," she said. She waved her hand dismissal manner and the ice dagger melted into small puddle of water. Kassie turned her head up just in time to see Echo and Nat wave to them. She returned her own wave with her injured hand before heading out of the pavilion. "Kumiko is right, training is going to be the best especially as a Big Three child. Do you know if you have any abilities?" Kassie asked, curiosity getting the better of her. |

Tatum giggled at her comment on Nathanial fighting for her,”honestly, I can’t blame you. I’m sure Nathanial would kill for you. Who needs to fight when you have a big strong man to take care of you. If I had one of those, I wouldn’t fight either”she smirked, squeezing her half-sister’s hand that rested on her arm. “And I would love to teach you some tips and tricks babe,”Tate smiled at her, affectionately patting her arm. She was quiet for a moment, thinking about her sister’s long relationship with Nathanial, before she spoke again,”how are things going with you and Nathanial?”she asked, out of genuine interest in her sister’s relationship, not because she was concerned in anyway but she was happy that her sister had been in such a long lasting relationship. It wasn’t common among children of Aphrodite to be in serious relationship. 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 —————— Jared frowned at Cat’s question, heat rising to his cheeks in a bit of embarrassment that she had heard him grumbling. “I lost against a girl in a spar…”he mumbled under his breath, too quiet for her to hear. He knew it was stupid but he couldn’t help being a little bit hurt. He cleared his throat speaking a little louder,”nothing, it’s stupid, and I’ll get over it,”he told her, voice lightening up a bit. He stood up from his spot, brushing some sand off of him, intending to join her in walking along the shore. He glanced at Jink again, eyes gentle as he took in the bird’s protectiveness of Cat and irritation with him, wondering what he could possibly do to make that bird stop hating him. Icefire15 —————— Spencer watched her form the icicle and get rid of it just as fast, eyes wide and her clearly impressed. “That would be really cool,”she nodded with a smile in agreement to Kassie’s offer. A light blush rose to her cheeks at Kassie’s question, remembering her couple accidents with her gift. “…I do. Um, I guess I can produce lightening. It’s actually how I met Kumiko and a couple of her friends. I accidentally snapped a tree in half and it fell on them during my first capture the flag game. On my first day here,”she told Kassie sheepishly. “I’m ready to go.” Lyra nodded, standing up. The desire to try and socially worm into Spencer would have to be attempted later, with less of an audience. She fixed her hair again before nudging Christian. “Hurry up, you big bum. In my way.” She joked, clearly bantering with her twin.

Her eyes widen and mouth dropped as Kassie stared at Spencer. "Wait a minute! That was you?" she asked. "I heard the loud crash in the forest nearby, but was too busy dealing with another engagement." Kassie had wondered how a few of those campers had been injured by a fallen tree. "Yeah, we are definitely going to be practicing those abilities. Don't need you lighting anymore campers up accidentally," Kassie said with a small chuckle. xσxσJα∂є |

Christian rolled his eyes at his sister,”big bum your face,”he scoffed getting up from his spot. He waited until she fixed her hair before grinning and reaching out again ruffling it up once more with a mischievous laugh before quickly moving out of range of her so she couldn’t retaliate, heading to exit from the pavilion. That was me..”she answered with a nervous laugh, running a hand back through her red hair a, a tell-tale sign of her being flustered. “Definitely agree with you on that one. I felt awful that I just showed up and…I just got overwhelmed and it…well it just happened,”she sighed, a slight grimace on her face. “I just don’t want something like that to happen again, so learning to control it would be nice,”she said finally, looking back up at Kassie. It never hurts to be too careful.” He said, already eager to see just what kind of possibilities this would bring to his plans. “Now we just need to find a way to bring this power under our control. I would hate for it to just go to waste in this useless camp.” |

“Hm.” Cat said, not satisfied with the answer that he had given her. Giving a quick shake of her head, she turned back to her walk. “Doesn’t sound like it’s nothing, but fine. Whatever you say.” She said, a little miffed that he didn’t want to confide in her.

Kumiko gave the other two girls a small smile, letting them do most of the talking as they walked. She was glad to see Spencer fitting in nicely in the camp already. It had taken awhile for Kumiko to adjust to the camp when she had first arrived herself, and her problems with Emilia hadn’t helped anything for her either. So she was always happy to help new campers adjust and come to terms with their lineage. Kumiko came to a stop once they reached the Climbing Wall, looking back at Kassie and Spencer, “And here we are! You ready for this?” She asked.

Jared lifted his eyes again to look at her, hearing it in her voice and it being evident in her choice of words that she wasn’t pleased with his answer. He let out a sigh of defeat,”I’m just a little butt-hurt, okay. I lost in a sparring match today to a girl from the Nike cabin. It’s a bit embarrassing. Like I said, it’s stupid and I’ll get over it,”he admitted, a little glumly as he kicked a rock.

Spencer looked up at the climbing wall, letting out a small puff of air and rolling her neck and shoulders, preparing herself for what she knew was going to be challenging. “Yeah, let’s do it…so should I just follow your lead? You’re the expert after all,”she smiled at Kumiko.

Echo blinked in light surprise as Shadow said goodbye and made a quick departure, barely able to say bye in response before he had disappeared into the crowd. Giving a small shake of her head, she turned her attention back to Nat, giving her an easy smile, “Hey. What’s up?” She greeted.

“Well, you’re right about it being stupid, that’s for sure.” Cat said, shaking her head at him. Jinx let out a series of cries, almost seeming to agree with Cat’s statement. “So what if it was a girl who beat you? You do realize that girls can be strong and skilled in battle to, right?” She continued in a lighter tone.

Kumiko studied the wall briefly before she looked back at Spencer, “How about I do a run through of it first and let you see just how it works? At least this way, you’ll know what to expect when you give it a go.” She said, wanting to make sure that Spencer was at least prepared a little for this particular kind of training.

Nat smiled back at Echo, happy to run into and catch up with her friend but also wanting to share her recent observations with her,”not too much. I have something interesting to tell you. But first, you can grab your lunch,”she said, thoughtful as ever and wanting to make sure she didn’t interrupt her from eating. “What were you up to today?”she asked her first, before getting into anything.

Jared frowned and shook his head scoffing,”Of course I know girls can be skilled in combat and strong. It’s not that. I don’t know, I just feel the pressure sometimes, being a son of Ares, that I need to win every time. And sometimes when I don’t win, it gets to me, that’s all,”he told her, shaking his head. He didn’t understand why but sometimes it wounded his pride, even though logically he knew it shouldn’t frustrate him that much. “I should just train harder,”he concluded, shaking his head. He had to be on par with the rest of his half-siblings too.

Spencer smiled appreciatively and nodded, grateful that Kumiko was willing to let her watch her run the course. It was helpful and definitely not something she had to do, and that made he all the more thankful that she’d made friends with a genuinely kind person. “Yeah, that sounds like a good idea,”she confirmed.

“I’ll just grab something to take with us. Wait here, I’ll be right back.”Echo said, curious to hear what Nat had seen. She quickly made her way through the campers, easily stepping around and past anyone that was in her way without so much as a nudge from her. Reaching the table, she gave it a quick once over before she grabbed a sandwich and a bag of chips. Within a couple of minutes after she had left, Echo was back by Nat’s side again, “Alright, let’s go somewhere that is more quiet than it is here.”

Cat arched an eyebrow at him, surprised to hear him talking this way. “I thought obsessing over winning all the time was more of a Nike thing than an Ares thing.” She commented. Jared had always seemed so confident in his fighting abilities before, so it was strange to hear how upset this loss had made him. “You don’t need to win all the time just cause your a child of Ares.”

Nat nodded at her, waiting as she went ahead and grabbed her food. When Echo returned, she nodded in agreement with her and started walking with Echo, automatically starting a course to their little hangout spot in the forest.”Do you know those twins, from the Iris cabin?”Nat asked Echo thoughtfully as they walked first. “And if you do, what are your thoughts,”she added. (lol going to their little detective club meeting)

Jared sighed again,”yeah I know that. Like I said, it’s stupid,”he murmured, arms crossed over his chest as they walked. “I know I don’t have to win all the time. But I’m a son of Ares. And combat and warfare is kinda supposed to be my forte. But really, this doesn’t matter. Like I said, I’m fine I’ll get over it.”he stated again, clearing his throat. “Anyway, what were you doing out here?”he asked, trying to shift the subject.
