Spencer stood at the edge of the training ground, still a bit nervous as she took in all the well-trained campers confidently storming at each other. Her skills had improved in the short time she’d been in camp, due to some lessons with some of the older and more experienced campers, but she still was intimidated when she stepped on the field. The first time she’d been thrown into a battle, or capture the flag, not that the there’s any difference to any of the majority of campers, she had dropped a tree on some campers when she had tripped and shot lightning bolts out of her hands.
Christian was at the Iris cabin, sitting outside and reading a book. Interestingly enough, some fantasy Greek myth book. To him, this was more of a comedic book than it holding any fascination. The god’s were laughable in his opinion.

Nat looked up as Sasha neared them, tilting her head with a smile at her challenge. She stood up from the bench, looking up at Sasha as she twirled an arrowhead between her fingers. “Do you mean just throwing them at the targets? Or using my arrows with these little guys?”she asked her, nodding to her bow and quiver of arrows that sat next to them on the bench. The arrow heads were long enough to be wielded as a small dagger if necessary. And she was fairly certain she could easily hit bull’s eyes throwing them too. Jared raised an eyebrow at Sasha and scoffed”impress you? What about you? Can you hit some bull’s eyes?”he challenged back, crossing his arms in front of his chest, grey-blue eyes piercing as he looked her over. It was obvious enough to him that she was strong, and definitely trained a lot considering her lean and toned figure. “Bulls-eyes are Bulls-eyes, Nat. No matter what hits the center. Arrow head, or arrow from a bow.” Sasha answered easily, looking at the arrow heads with a small smirk, before she glanced back once at Jared. Blood tingling with the prospect of a challenge, the Nike daughter swung the sword around her palm one last time before she pulled her dagger from her hip. She placed her larger sword down, before bringing the dagger blade up to her lips. She kept her eyes trained right on Jared as she kissed the dark metal, before a curling grin spread across her face. She suddenly moved, body turning to aim a powerful throw right at the closest target. The dagger sunk into the center with a loud “thunk”, before she slowly rubbed her palms together and humored. “You like, yes?”

Jared watched Sasha, admiring her form. He raised his eyebrow a bit, slightly impressed by the heavy thump of she dagger as it embedded itself into the target. “Not bad at all”he nodded approvingly,”the kiss was a cute touch,”Jared added with a small grin. “I can do it eyes closed.”he stated simply, smirking at her.
Nat whistled at the heavy landing of the dagger in the center of the target. “Wow. You’ve got a strong arm,”she commended. She looked at the target, pulling a bow from her quiver and picking up her bow, getting into position with the next closest target. After a moment of feeling and determining the strength and direction of the wind as she knocked the arrow, in one swift and fluid movement she brought the bow up, pulled back the string, and let it fly, the arrow zipping through the air in accuracy, and landing with a sharp thud in the center of the next target. She glanced to Jared, expectantly.

“Two for two.” Sasha purred, impressed by Nat’s accuracy, but moreso humored to try and see if Jared would falter. She mused. “Kisses make it sweeter, when the blade hits it’s mark. Don’t leave ladies waiting, Jared, I might get bored.” She taunted, expectant of his performance.
Lyra moseyed her way outside to settle near her brother. She snorted lightly, speaking so only he could hear. “Camp’s still none the wiser that Levin’s not a kid of Iris. You’d think they’d be wiser, but. Pft.” She rolled her eyes, before she admitted. “He’s dead-set on getting Phoenix over to Nathanial’s side. Says she’s got a special kind of fire-power.”

Jared smiled at the two girls. “Do you mind?”He lightly tossed the arrowhead Nat had been sharpening in the air and caught it again.
“Not at all”she nodded to him crossing her arms over her chest, as he turned to face a third target, nimbly spinning the object in his fingers and eyeing it carefully. “Hold on Mr. Eyes Closed,”Nat said quickly, untying a small satin black scarf she had tied around her wrist and moving to cover his eyes, starting to tie it
“Oh, so this is what it’s for. Kinky,”Jared quipped quickly, his head slightly turned towards her. It was quickly followed by a pained groan as she sharply raised her knee into his side, just as she finished up the knot and let him go.
“You’re mean,”he grumbled at her, but he was already focusing on where he knew his target was. He listened carefully to the wind blowing and it rustling the leaves, as well as its slight sound against the target, rotating his feet towards the target. Once he felt certain that he was centered towards it, he weighed the little arrowhead in his hand, and using his prior experiences with the targets and their height, he let it his muscle memory aid him as with one quick move, he threw the arrowhead at the target, and like his companions, at dead center.
——————
Christian looked up at Lyra as she approached him. “Good, we could use her. She’s strong,”he agreed, setting down the book. “Who else do you think can be convinced to our side? It would be nice if we had some more well respected demi-gods with us too”he stated, wondering which of the other campers might be more inclined towards their cause.

(Ice, I have a slight idea, is there a way to possible falsely incriminate Shadow, like "wrong place, wrong time" situation? I feel like that could help keep the plot going if you'd like to carry out more issues with the traitor) Shadow gave a small gulp of air before nodding at Echo's strategy. While he didn't disagree with traitor will likely lay low for this game, he still had a hunch that something was going to happen very soon after. The silver lining was just hanging there and Shadow wanted nothing more than to act, but truly it wasn't his call. "I don't think they would be in for an easy win, no matter if you was the lead cabin or not." He said, a small smirk creasing lines of his cheeks. "Is Hades with you or are we on their side?" Shadow wanted to know whether he would run with her or if he would face her on the other side of the battlefield. If we are on opposite sides, I don't think I could face her logically. She's too smart, sometimes even smarter than the Athena cabin. Shadow's thoughts clashed. He didn't participate often in their little games, but he would rather be in the thick of battle instead of viewing from the outside. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kassie grimaced as she tried to get some type of pressure on her wound. "Yes if you don't mind," she gasped. She moved closer to Kumiko and held out her hand. "Sadly, this isn't the first time I've done." Kassie mentioned before turning her hand over to show five other scars, ranging from a nick to a few inches long. She gave a small shrug of her shoulders as the cuts all healed in time and she learned more and more about throwing knives. "Each one represents the knowledge I gained from them. From this one I will learn that even the slightest bit of wind can alter the trajectory of the knife," Kassie said with a pained smile. She turned her hand back over to show the wound once again so Kumiko could help bandage it. Sorry I didn’t respond sooner x.x also, that sounds like a fun plan, what exactly do you have in mind? We can certainly figure something out!) “Valen hasn’t gotten back to me yet, I’m sure he’ll let me know soon enough though.” Echo said with a small shrug. Even if the Hades cabin chose to side with the Athena cabin, Echo was fairly confident with the team that she had managed to get together. “I’ve already got the Hermes and Ares cabins on my side too, but the extra help would certainly be helpful.” She added. Kumiko gave a soft hum as she tended to the wound, applying a bit salve before she started bandaging it. “Either way, you should still be more careful, you know?” She said, making sure that the bandage was on securely before letting Kassie go. “It isn’t a major cut, so you’ll be fine in a day or two. But you might want to take a break from knife thowing while it heals.” Kumiko suggested.

“Color me impressed.” Sasha admitted, a laugh escaping her as she put her hand on her hip. She nodded once at Jared. “Looks like we’re three for three then.” She grinned, only to turn her head as she heard an impressed whistle from the training ground entryway. She gave a small snicker as she recognized Mathias.
“That’s hot.” Mathias crossed his arms, leaning against the entryway as he looked at the three perfectly centered bulls-eyes. His eyes glinted with mischief as he rumbled. “I tend to just rip the entire target apart, so I’ll leave the impressive shots to you three. Well. Most shots.” He grinned wolfishly as Sasha cackled.
—-
“Probably want one of the Big Three’s kids, yeah. Can’t have too many of us less impressive Gods and Goddess’ kids thinking we can do anything they could.” Lyra sneered, before she inspected her nails and seethed softly. “Better if the Gods and Goddesses never existed. It’ll be better after this.” She reminded herself.

“And yet when face to face with a monster, who is more likely to survive? The one who can strike with lightning, the one who can create flames unlike any other?” Levin inquired with a thoughtful hum, looking right at Phoenix as he smiled. “Or the Hebe boy out there, Lloyd? Whose only defense he has is a young face? Controllable or not, power is power, Phoenix. And it’s always the ones with the most of it who try and quiet the ones who desire some of it too.” He mused, turning to cross his arms leisurely behind his head with a chuckle. “But that’s just a thought, is all. Now you, you talked about lack of control. Are you sure it’s not just you lacking control? Fire’s got to be hard.” He crooned. Phoenix gave a sharp shake of her head as she pulled the blade out of the water and set to work on fixing the hilt of the sword and making sure that nothing was loose on it. “Children of the more minor gods can easily get by in the mortal world. Their scent isn’t as strong or appealing to monsters like the children of the Big Three or some of the more major gods.” She said simply, checking the sword over once more before putting it into its sheathe and tossing it over to Lenny, “Here. I’m done.”

“We’re children of gods, I’d need to be put down if I couldn’t hit a bull’s eye,”he told Sasha. Jared turned towards his half brother, pulling the scarf around his eyes off and handing it back to Nat “Well not all of us are animals,”he said, about his comment regarding ripping the target, and rolling his eyes but with a small chuckle still at Mathias’ antics.
Nat looked in his direction, giving a once over of the son of Ares as he leaned against the entryway. “You know I’m personally a fan of watching things get ripped apart. Maybe you could use your bare hands,”she said with coy smile.

Christian reached out giving his sister a reassuring pat on her shoulder,”it will be”he agreed with her. He tilted his head for a moment though, at her comment about a child from one of the big three. “You know, maybe you or someone on our side could befriend that new daughter of Zeus. She’s still pretty new here.”he suggested, thinking that it could in fact come in handy.

Jared raised his eyes in surprise at Sasha’s comment, rubbing a hand back through his dark hair,”wow, you may be worse than him,”he snickered, good-naturedly of course. “So what, are you and this girl trying to be an enemies to lovers trope or something?”he asked Sasha, somewhat interested now.
Nat discreetly gazed in appreciation as he stretched out his arms,”oh you can absolutely demolish it, it’s way more fun to piss them off. Just for funsies. I could use some excitement today,”she said brightly, brown eyes twinkling with mischief. She did have a dangerous love for destruction at times, but usually didn’t give in to her intrusive thoughts.

She looked up when she spotted Spencer and gave her a bright smile, waving her over, “Hey, Spencer! Over here!” Kumiko called, having starting to get to know the other girl.

It’s honestly better to pull off in the forest, but everyone else is busy today, so I make do with I got here.” She explained, gathering up the rest of her arrows and putting them into her quiver. “I suppose you could say it’s an Apollo thing, but there are archers here who aren’t associated with Apollo or Artemis. “Like the story trope? Hah!” Sasha snorted, picking her sword back up and brandishing the blade as she inspected it for any flaws. “Nothing so close to a fairy tale. I like what I see, and she does too, but she won’t ever admit it. Makes it more thrilling. Keeps me on my toes when we fight, I like to make her mad.” She explained with a knowing quirk of her lips, before she tossed her hair. “If I settle, it must be with the best. And the worst. At the same time.”
“What the lady wants.” Mathias lazily saluted with his hand, before he rolled his head and shoulders and approached the target. Hands curling into powerful fists, he began a barrage of precise yet brutal strikes. Wood and wool splintered and buffeted beneath his fists, which he easily ignored. His hands were calloused enough now to not really register much pain anymore. It just felt good to hit something, feel it break, without hurting anyone else.
—-
“Sure, you might as well try and charm her too. Maybe she’ll be quicker to warm up when you’re willing to show her around.” Lyra invited with a cheeky grin to her twin. She glanced around, before frowning and rolling her eyes. “Crap. Forgot her name. What was it?”

“Hmm, if it doesn’t feel right, then you should move on to the next weapon. But don’t give up on the sword completely, okay? You never know when you might need that kind of skill.” Kumiko suggested, holding up her bow. “Have you tried archery yet? We having some training bows you can try out. And I can give you a couple pointers too.” She continued, then motioned towards the training weapon racks. “Or, if that doesn’t suit your fancy, we also have plenty of other weapons that you can give a try. We’ll find the right one for you sooner or later.”

Levin caught the weapon with surprising skill for someone so new to the camp. He gave a small grin, toothy and humored, before he inspected the sword and mused. “And yet, there’s monsters everywhere out there. She didn’t care if she sounded rude or not, the guy gave her the creeps and she was getting tired of his constant chatter. “I don’t want or need anything, especially from you.” “No charge? Generous lady.” Levin thanked her, clearly ignoring her ire towards him. Without missing a beat, he silently slipped a small metal pendant onto the forge desk beside a pile of metals. The unassuming chainless pendant was a small artifact of Hectate, not that Phoenix would know that right away. Beneath his shirt, the pendant’s twin was around his neck. This would show if his theory was correct, that Phoenix shared blood with both Hephaestus and Hectate. If she touched it, and the pendant around his neck glowed in response, he would know that it was true. That she was exactly what he had believed she was. It would be proof enough, and once the time was right, he would show her exactly what the unassuming pendant was, that her power troubles were from having oh so much of it. Collecting his things, he hastily made his retreat, holding the sword with reverence as he strolled out. “Look at this work! Professional, could make money off talent like that!” His voice faded as he left, leaving the half-hidden pendant behind as if he hadn’t been the one to place it there. Unassuming, and unremarkable, but just perfectly visible to be noticed soon enough.

Phoenix rolled her eyes as Lenny’s voice faded away, glad for the sudden silence that it left behind. She sat down with a tired sigh, the tension finally leaving her body. “This guy never gives up.” She said, resting chin on her fist. She stared down at her messy workstation, “And what’s with his obsession with powers? It’s ridiculous.” Phoenix grumbled, deciding to start organizing and cleaning her space up.

Jared listened, chuckling at her statements and shaking his head. “Aren’t you just a cute little masochist. Well, I hope that works out for you. She sounds fun,”he gave her a gentle nudge with his elbow, picking up his own sword that he had set down earlier when he had approached Nat. “I’m heading to the training arena. What about you?”he asked her.
Nat blinked in surprise a bit at the force of his power, taking a small step back when he started aiming blows at the target. For a moment, she imagined what it would be like to have to fight against the son of Ares, and felt an immediate dread for whoever would have to face up to him. She watched, thoroughly impressed as the target quickly started losing its integrity and splinters started flying in all directions, waiting for him to deal the final blow that would wreck the target completely.

Christian shook his head with a snort,”Sure, I’ll give it my best shot. Maybe she needs friends,”he said in agreement. “Her name is Spencer. She arrived a few weeks ago. I think on the day of the last capture the flag too,”Christian mused, picking up his book from the floor, planning to toss it in a fire later.

“Okay, I won’t,”Spencer agreed attentively, nodding her head. “I haven’t tried archery, but I’m willing to try it,”Spencer said, glancing at the weapon rack. Her attention did stop on the celestial bronze spear, thinking about how that could be fun. But she definitely didn’t feel ready for that.

Kumiko gave Spencer an encouraging smile and started walking towards the training weapons. She picked up one of the bows and gave the string an experimental pull and examining it briefly before she gave a small shake of her head and set it back down. Kumiko moved on to the next bow and did the same thing with that one as well before she held it out for Spencer to take, “Here, let’s give this one a try. It’s a good one for beginners, so you won’t have too much trouble with it.”
