Introduction
Good evening citizens of Illéa and welcome to the start of the 10th selection! Prince Weylin just celebrated his 21st birthday and following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather before him, a Selection to find a new Princess of Illéa is being held for Prince Weylin. One can't help but wonder how the younger prince, Prince [name], feels about his brother's Selection. It is common knowledge that those two have a bit of a tumultuous relationship...
7 girls randomly selected from across the nation will live in the palace while competing to win the prince's heart and become the next princess and future queen! Why were only 7 Illéa ladies picked for this Selection? For the first time in Illéa's history, a foreign princess is taking part in the prince's selection! Princess [name] of the allied British Federation is the 8th girl in Prince Weylin's selection. Her brother, Prince [name] of the British Federation is staying at the palace while his sister competes. Boy, will it be busy at the palace for the next few months! There are sure to be many exciting, heartwarming moments as the prince navigates his way to his queen. Rules
♔ forum rules . Obviously, follow all of the official forum rules.
♔ literacy . This is a literate/lazylit roleplay. This means I expect good grammar, solid spelling, and decent sentence structure. I'm definitely an advocate for quality over quantity, so I'm reluctant to put a minimum post length requirement, however please, no one liners. Make sure to give the others something to work with.
♔ activity . I'm a university student, so I totally understand being busy. That being said, please try to get a post up at least once a week so we can keep the plot moving. Even just to chatting is fine, so I know you're still interested and not just bailing. If you find this roleplay isn't piquing your interest anymore, just let me know so I can open your spot up to others. No hard feelings,
♔ post content . Keep it PG-13. Skip is your friend. No godmodding, powerplaying yadda yadda. Please refrain from using very bright colours/difficult to read fonts/extremely large or small font sizes for roleplay posts.
♔ courtesy . Fighting outside of roleplay will not be tolerated. You don't have to like everyone but at least tolerate each other.
♔ spam . No excessive posting by non-members [ friends are the exception to the rule ]; no advertising. Chatting and plotting are encouraged between members.
♔ characters . You may have up to four characters, and a maximum of two selected girls. I know this type of roleplay lends itself to making "perfect" characters, but please, refrain from doing so. I have the right to refuse acceptance if I deem your character too "sue-ish." And I would hope this would go without saying, but this rp is lgbtq+ friendly.
♔ plots . Please don't feel restrained to only the overarching selection plot. Subplots are very highly encouraged! Please feel free to chat with other members or me if you want to develop one!
♔ joining . Post your characters on the joining page. Crucial info about character positions can be found on the this page. Any role without specific info filled in is still available, and I will frequently be updating this page. Please post only one on the joining page. World
Illéa is the young monarchical nation composed of what was once North America. The country is divided into 35 provinces spanning the entirety of the North American continent. The capital and palace are located on the west coast in the province of Angeles.
The royal family of Illéa resides in the palace in Angeles. The throne is passed down to the first born son when the king passes away or retires. In order to select a suitable queen and keep morale high, every crown prince is held a Selection to find a Daughter of Illéa to ascend to the throne with. Since the reestablishment of the monarchy, every King has been held a Selection without fail.
Illéa rose in the ashes of what was once the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, and the island nations of the Caribbean following WWIII. When China called in their debts from the United States, a war broke out between the two superpowers which eventually evolved into the third world war. The United States, as well as the other surrounding nations, dissolved as a result of the war, leaving nothing but the scattered remains of a broken nation. In the ashes of the war rose a man known as Gregory Illéa, who would go on to repair the relationship with the Chinese and restore structure and hope to the broken society. After being elected as the new nation's leader, Gregory Illéa established himself as king of the new nation -- Illéa. Since then, Illéa has grown to a superpower nation, with many allies including Swendway, the German Federation, France, the British Federation, and China. However, tensions run high the Middle East where Illéa and their allies are fighting for control of oil-reserves against the Russian Empire.
Illéa as a society holds traditional values despite its modern appearance. Men are the breadwinners in the family, sex before marriage is illegal, unwed mothers (harlots) can be fined or jailed, contraception is banned, and homosexuality is a criminal offence. Furthermore, there is a strict 10pm curfew for all of Illéa's citizens.
Technology in Illéa remains relatively unchanged since the pre-WWIII North American society. Cell phones, laptops, and cars exist and are found throughout Illéa. However, due to an increasing oil shortage, most families are unable to afford a car anymore, and horses are commonly used for transportation. While the internet does exist, it can only be afforded by the richest of the rich families, and very few have access to it. |

The Selection
It is an Illéan tradition that when the crown prince comes of age at 21 years old, a televised competition is held to select the next Princess of Illéa. Invitations are sent out to all eligible girls between the ages of 18 and 22 to apply for a spot among the Selected. 8 girls are randomly selected from the applicant pool and sent to the palace to learn how to become a princess and compete for the prince's heart. The girls are subjected to the lavish life in the palace, including makeovers, dresses, expensive jewelry, and gourmet food. As the Selection continues, the prince will eliminate incompatible girls in order to narrow down to the girl who will be the One. While in the palace, the girls are expected to behave as princesses and strictly adhere to the rules of the Selection.
The Rules of the Selection
♔ The contestant cannot leave the palace on her own accord. She can only be dismissed by the prince himself.
♔ There is no timeline for the Selection — it can last from days to years.
♔ The contestant must be a virgin.
♔ The contestant cannot arrange her times with the prince. If in a large social setting, this rule does not apply.
♔ The contestant cannot fight or sabotage other participants. If the contestant is found laying her hands on another contestant, causing her stress, stealing from her, or doing anything that might diminish her personal relationship with the prince, the prince will decide whether to dismiss her or not.
♔ The contestant can only have a romantic relationship with the prince. If the contestant is caught in a relationship with someone else, it is considered treason and punishable by death.
♔ If the contestant is found breaking any of Illéa's written laws, her punishment will be tied to that offense.
♔ The contestant cannot eat food or wear any clothes not provided to her by the palace.
♔ The contestant must be courteous to photographers, and allow them to see her lifestyle with the prince.
♔ For each week the contestant stays at the palace, her family will be compensated.
♔ No personal devices (cellphones, laptops) are permitted in the palace. No outside communication is allowed apart from a weekly telephone call with family. Written letters are allowed with inspection prior to sending.
♔ If the contestant is no longer in the Selection, she will have an aide to help her adjust to her new life after the Selection. Her aide will help the contestant find new housing and employment.
♔ If the contestant makes it to the top five, she is considered as an Elite, and will be required to learn about particular inner workings of the life and obligations she would have as a princess. Until then, the contestant is not permitted to seek out such information.
♔ If the contestant wins the Selection, she and her family will become members of the royal family. The contestant will also marry the prince and become the crowned princess of Illéa, taking on all the rights and responsibilities of the title.

The reigning Illéan king is known to the general public as the Absent King. Constantly away on diplomatic voyages, he often leaves the Queen in charge while he attends to international affairs. He is known for being decisive, diplomatic, and holding strong traditional values.

Queen Anastasia is the winner of King Roland's selection and the current Queen of Illéa. This northern Paloma-native is known for being more headstrong and opinionated than her predecessors.
 Crown Prince Weylin Schreave
The oldest Schreave son and crown prince of Illéa. He is a strict son obediently performing all required duties of the crown. He is known to get lost in his work and be a bit of a shut in. He is fiercely competitive with his brother, though he envies the freedom he is given.
