So. Should I read Cat Coming Home or should I read some Christmas Mysteries?
(Both are Christmas themed.)

i...haven't been reading much of anything. except Rapunzel's Revenge, which was a graphic novel i've already read before but it was a fun reread. i did finally pick up the gilded wolves again tho, and i'm like halfway through now.

i really like it! i think my only real issue is how...funny the book tries to be sometimes? like some of the jokes feel really forced, like a deliberate reminder that these characters are supposed to be fun and snarky! some of the character quirkiness is overplayed too i think. but plotwise, world-building-wise, and in general characterization it's been very entertaining. I think Laila is my favorite character so far.

fangbranch if you have some recs I'd love to hear them (although again i'm a very slow reader and also a mood reader and it takes me a bit to get to anything new)
Some recs I have for standalones: The Last Unicorn, Sadie, Where Things Come Back, and The Night Circus. Contact by Carl Sagan is also good but it's a bit of a heavier science fiction book. and series: The Bartimaeus Sequence, The Great Library, the Inkworld Trilogy (although Inkheart's the best and can be read as a standalone), and The Southern Reach and short story collections cause why not: Stories of Your Life and Others, Lips Touch Three Times, and Oddest of All

I'm rereading the Skulduggery Pleasant series right now, currently on Mortal Coil. it's every bit as good as it was the last time I read through it. I want to reread some Laini Taylor next, probably the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy.
for recs i definitely second The Night Circus! such a good read. I've read it three times and tbh I still don't really know what happens but it's one of my favourite books of all time. 10/10 would recommend. I've recently also enjoyed Crier's War (I really need to read the sequel tbh) and the Ember in the Ashes series. in terms of contemporary fiction, I loved both The Girls and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo a lot.
if you have any recs, I'd love some! I've been reading pretty exclusively fantasy (if my own recs didn't give that away lol) and I'm far from bored of it yet haha

fangbranch My Lady Jane has been on my tbr for a while, and someone gifted me a copy of Illuminae a while back though I never read it. They both seem p fun!
I read kind of all over the place, but I'm partial to science fiction/fantasy (any age group) and literary/psychological fiction (hence stuff like Sadie and Where Things Come Back. those books live in my mind rent free). Also looking for history and science nonfiction book recs if you have any! I'm trying to branch out in my reading and I haven't read much in nonfic in a while c: But really I will look into anything people rec to me so if you have any favorites outside those genres that's cool too.
𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘯 have you ever read The Crown's Game duology? it's like russian inspired fantasy and it's kind of a less dense/more action-y version of the Night Circus, if you like TNC and Laini Taylor you might like it as well. Skulduggery Pleasant has also been on my tbr for so darn long lol it sounds really good from what I've heard

also i finished my goodreads goal lol I finally got through The Gilded Wolves, which had some really good parts and some eh parts so I hope the sequel feels more even. My second book was City of Ember, a reread. It's such a nostalgia fave but also it holds up surprisingly well even now.

*Ɗαɾƙρσσℓ* i haven't, but i'll definitely look into it, thank you! i super recommend skulduggery pleasant, especially if it's already on your tbr, it's wonderful! it was to me what harry potter is to a lot of other people but it holds up so well even now that im an adult with more adult tastes. i probably reread it once a year haha

I have happened to read both of these. My Lady Jane is good, albeit the ending is slow. Which, considering that's the plot heavy part, is not the best going for it. But it was a really fun twist on history. Illuminae is stellar. One of my top books. I devoured the series.

i finished My Dark Vanessa and idk how to feel about it or how to rate it. Like it's a brilliantly-written, complex book for sure, but reading it was just so disconcerting and I've been uneasy abt it since I put it down. i feel like i need to read something cutesy and wholesome just to get my mind off it.
