Renata Luciana Paladino Captain of the U.S.S Avalon
Well, that was the last pack of instant noodles and bottled water.
That was a bit problematic, not because Renata had any particular love for prepackaged pasta, but because...well, that was their last bit of Earth food. They hadn't really left camp in the last three days, because they had been trying to figure out a game plan, call for help, and honestly? Avoid going into the woods.
Renata and her crew had been expecting hostile or strange, environments and unknown biomes, of course. They were in space, for God's sake. But something about their surroundings put the woman on edge.
To the north of their shabby encampment was a forest...sort of. The trees were sort of like pine trees back on Earth, but the needles were a light lavender color, and had torn the sleeve of the Captain's uniform when she investigated it on the first night. They were tall, and probably wouldn't pose too much of a danger to one not up close and inspecting them, but any sort of tree with blades on it set off warning bells. Alongside that were trees with either bright green or dark orange leaves. The biohazard green leaves on the tree hid some heavy looking, dark fruit that Renata wondered about. Was it edible? Was it toxic? Obviously, she didn't know. Then to the east was a river. It looked like water, but no one had touched it or tasted it, yet. For all they knew, the river was hydrochloric acid.
That would be a problem crossing, if that was the case.
The hills sheltering the camp from the south and west seemed pretty tame in comparison, but held all sorts of rocks and shrubbery that only God knows what could be hiding behind.
"Gather around, everyone!" One problem Captain Paladino didn't have was calling attention to her crew. She stood elevated, on the wing of their once great ship, that was now dug into the dirt and raised up like a ramp. "The time has come for us to begin exploring. I want my officers to divide up our people in groups of three, please. One group will take the forest, one will investigate -- and hopefully find a way over -- that river. And one will explore the hills. We're looking for edible food, potable water, and resources. Please exercise extreme caution, we still don't know anything about our surroundings." And if one of them got eaten by a carnivorous bladed tree or something, she'd never forgive herself. "I'll lead one of the groups. Will two officers step forward to lead the other two?"

Natalia "Nat" Cavallo Commanding Officer
Natalia stretched lightly as she stared down at her last meal. It wasn't the best, but they could have done more to prevent themselves from running out in three days. They should've rationed everything that survived better. Had the cooks done anything to extend the length of their food supply? Could they end up planting anything? And even then, how would they survive for the months it would take to grow? There had to be food somewhere on this planet. All the had to do was find it, and test it. So long as it didn't have anything toxic, they should be fine.
Should be, being the key term there.
She had disagreed with the Captain's handling of the situation, but she had followed orders. A mutiny would just cause more upset through the crew, and Paladino had earned her job. Even without confidence in the Captain, she had confidence in their superiors. They probably saw something that she hadn't noticed yet. It's not like there was some book on what to do when you get stranded on an alien planet. Base operations might have assumed they were dead on impact. There was no guarantee that anyone was looking for survivors. Especially on a planet like this, with purple trees.
Nat had to admit she was rather curious about that.
When Paladino called for them, she pushed her plate away and moved to what she had been calling the futuristic Pride Rock. A stupid little wing sticking out of dirt. What a perfect place for meetings, right? As her Captain spoke, Natalia didn't let her judgement show overtly. They should have done this immediately. Even if there wasn't a book on the topic from NASA, there was still a mass amount of pop culture. Some of them ended up dead on those shows, but at least they had food.
Starving to death didn't seem like a good plan, and Nat wasn't about to sit by and let it happen. She stepped forward immediately, showing her intentions to lead a group. She knew who she wanted in her group, even if they wanted to stay by the ship. There were also people she knew she didn't want to come, because they were literal disasters and she didn't want to be stuck with their horrible mistakes. One of the geologists was known to lick everything, and she didn't want to deal with a grown man poisoning himself because he ingested it without testing it first.

Rayven E. Harts
kitchen staff she/her : 29
Rayven was finally starting to understand what all the comms people were feeling when things initially went downhill. The group had run out of food and, personally, Rayven was feeling restless without having anything to do now. She wasn't useless, no siree, but she was lacking actual tasks to do at the moment.
Much to say, she was grateful when Captain Paladina chose to group everyone up. Rayven wasn't too far from her anyhow and found a comfortable box to lean against, laughing to herself as she found her brother standing nearby. Taking her eyes off him, they went back to Paladina as the Captain continued, curious about this third day meetup. She was hoping there was going to be something useful that someone had discovered.
Otherwise, they theoretically had a couple of days to survive before being "offline" didn't just apply to the lack of contact they had.
3 days though and they were finally going to be exploring. Wasn't that exciting? Rayven hardly had to side-eye her brother as Captain asked for volunteers out of the commanding offers, given his immediate stance to step forward, raise his hand, and offer himself as tribute.
"I'd be willing to lead a party," she heard him say. She held back from rolling her eyes over the matter given she knew for a fact that Ender had been just as anxious to get out and about as Rayven was. However, Rayven would love to see herself if she could manage to get in on one of these groups. Her brother had it easier seeings as he was actually one of the people in charge, but Rayven got onto this trip as kitchen staff.
Staff.
It was sorta sad, but Rayven wasn't a science nerd or willing to hold someone's life in her hands. She wasn't military either. She supposed she could have gone maintenance or comms but.... Well, look how that turned out too. None of it mattered at the moment anyway. Gotta focus on the stuff at hand.
