Leaffrost was found outside the territory of {Clan}, having been raised alongside the other kits in the nursery thinking they were a clanborn cat. On their adopted mother's deathbed, she reveals the truth about Leaffrost's origins. This leaves her with a sickly feeling in her stomach, everything making sense about the clan life they have lived so far. She makes the choice to leave the clan to find her real parents, discover why they had been left behind. As they are leaving, Lotuswaves stops them to ask what they are doing. When it's explained, she refuses to let Leaffrost travel alone. The pair sets out to find the true origins of Leaffrost but along the way they face many dangers, whether it's rogues, dogs, or foxes.
Muse A: Leaffrost {☾ѕησσzє☽ } Muse B: Lotuswaves {𝐿𝑜𝓉𝓊𝓈𝒲𝒶𝓋𝑒𝓈 } Duskclan Leader: Deputy: Medicine Cat: Warriors: LOTUSWAVES - Lotuswaves is a brownish-orange Somali with large, slender ears, a slender face, and darker brown tips on her ears and tail. A dark brown stripe grows from a small grove of stripes centered on her forehead and leads down her spine all the way to the end of her bushy tail, blending in with the darker tip of it. She has a medium-sized white dot above each of her light gray eyes. Her whiskers are very long and some of them are curly, but all of them are white. Her stomach fur is usually curly and knotted due to improper grooming of her long coat. She is nurturing with a good sense of humor, or maybe an overabundance of humor, finding a reason to laugh in any situation. Over-protective and sometimes over-bearing towards her friends and fellow clan members. {𝐿𝑜𝓉𝓊𝓈𝒲𝒶𝓋𝑒𝓈 } LEAFFROST - she is a black she-cat with orange patches scattered about her fur. Her legs are long and slender, giving her an appearance of being larger than your average warrior. She hold a small frame though, her body never carrying much weight to it. As for her eyes, they are a deep mossy green with a tinge of yellow around the outside. Leaffrost is more hotheaded than she isn't, she jumps paws first into trouble without a second thought about the consequences. She isn't above speaking out of turn to voice her opinion. {☾ѕησσzє☽ } Apprentices: Queens/kits: Elders:

She had arrived in the medicine cat's den just in time, the small form of her mother resting in a soft bed of moss. She was unsure of why her littermates hadn't come with. They were acting weird too, maybe mother is mad at me...and right before she is welcomed in Starclan. She felt sad about the thought but this was her chance to right any wrongdoings she had done. The medicine cat was busy in the back with their herb store though their ears were pricked in such a fashion that their true intentions were obvious. They're listening to us, why? Leaffrost had no time to dwell on questions, the answers were laying in front of her. Her mother's once sleek dilute tortoiseshell pelt was now dull and appeared more unkempt than it had ever in her lifetime. Wasn't anyone cleaning her?
"Mottledream, I'm here." She whispered, dipping her head down low. The elder's hearing had been growing worse, to the point even speaking directly in her ear didn't guarantee a response. She felt a prickle of anxiety run along her spine when her mother remained laying, not lifting her heads. Finally, her eyes slowly opened to reveal the cloudy hues of green inside.
"Leaffrost...I cannot go into Starclan without telling you the truth." The truth? What was she speaking of, she had thought there was no lies between the two of them. They were closer than Mottledream was with her other kits. Both taking time out of their day to share tongues even when she found herself in the elder's den. Holding her breath, she awaited her to continue. Time was running short, the medicine cat had only given her hours of life left and that was a earlier this morning when Leaffrost had gone on patrol "I am so sorry to tell you this, but you are not my kit. You may be by choice but our relationship ends there. You are not my blood." The younger warrior's ears burned at this realization, it couldn't be true right? Something so big wouldn't be hidden away. "Either way, you are loved by the clan and by me. Taking you in with my litter wasn't something I regretted at any point in my life. I love you, my softpaw." The old pet name her mother gave her no longer felt so endearing, now it was more a stab to her heart. The name was given to her due to her soft pads when she started walking around the camp. Pressing her nose to Mottledream, she breathed in the once comforting scent. Questions were running around her mind but she could feel she only had time to ask very few.
"Where...Where is my real mother?"
"That I do not know, you were found at the southern border of the clan." I have another mother, would she be looking for me now or was I left behind? Leaffrost was about to say something else when she saw the elder's breathing grow rapid.
"You have to leave, I am sorry Leaffrost but I need to tend to Mottledream." The medicine cat hurried her out, leaving her feeling cold and alone. She needed to know more, she had to know who was her true mother.
{Sorry it's short and lame :p bout to go to bed butttt here it is! If you want, we can have Leaffrost are already somewhat friends with Lotus so they can interact just after the death a bit too}

>>Lotuswaves_______________________________________________ Lotuswaves could feel how heavy the air in the camp had become. Every-cat knew what was happening in this moment, Mottledream had fallen ill not too long ago and despite the medicine cat's best efforts, she continued to worsen. While other cats simply went about their business like it was any other day, some, mostly the elders, looked like they were already mourning. Lotus hadn't been close with Mottledream, but she knew her daughter Leaffrost. They weren't the closest but they shared prey from time to time which was enough for Lotuswaves to be worried sick about the other she-cat.
Lotuswaves did another sweep of the area around her, tilting her head in curiosity when she realized Leaffrost's siblings weren't in the medicine cat den with her or their mother. Curious indeed... The she-cat thought to herself but quickly looked down at her paws in embarrassment. It really was none of her business, even if she was worried for Leaffrost.
After what felt like forever she saw the medicine cat hurrying Leaffrost out of the den, meaning what the clan knew was happening was about to come to an end most likely. Starclan, light her path. Lotuswaves dipped her head at the thought before trying to decide whether or not to approach Leaffrost. No other cat made a move to do anything, though. With a look of determination Lotuswave's made her way over to the other she-cat, dipping her head respectfully in greeting before saying "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, but I just wanted to make sure you were alright." Lotuswaves wasn't about to ask how Mottledream was doing because it was obvious by the look on Leaffrost's face, not well. There was nothing the somali could do to help her mother, but she could help Leaffrost by being there for her.
((It wasn't lame at all also okay! makes sense.)

She wasn't even paying attention when a voice broke through her thoughts. She jerked her head around to see Lotuswaves, the she-cat was trying to check in on her. It was as if a rock was settling deep down in her stomach, she didn't know whether the she-cat knew her true origins or not and it made her want to hide away. Did the whole clan keep this a secret for her? Why? Did anyone even know who her mother was truly? She tried to remain calm, meeting the eyes of her clanmate.
"I am fine, just sad I guess." It wasn't a lie, she was sad in more ways than one. Her adopted mother was laying in the den dying while her real one could be out in the world somewhere. She wasn't sure if she could continue on her daily duties with this new information. She had to know who she was, did they look alike? Did she miss her kit? The questions were front and center in her mind. I do know one thing, where I was found. Maybe there's some clues out there, isn't there a twoleg place on the southern edge of our border? Maybe a kittypet knows about it. I can't just leave right now though, I need to stay for the vigil. "Do you want to get something to eat?" She asked Lotuswaves suddenly, she'd need to eat and bring up her strength if she planned on sneaking off afterwards.
The prey pile was full enough, the sun drawing it's descent in the sky to signal the cats the evening was drawing near. She didn't have much time, should she get her goodbyes in order? But no one can know I'm leaving, how can I say goodbye to everyone without actually saying goodbye? She would have to figure it out over prey, her stomach was growling now.

>>Lotuswaves ___________________________________________________
Lotuswaves could tell a thousand thoughts were racing through the other she-cat's brain and she felt a pang of sympathy in her chest. Lotuswaves didn't know what to say or how to comfort Leaffrost so she just nodded, looking over at the fresh kill pile. It was well stocked with a variety of prey from birds to voles, a few apprentices picked at it before bounding off to share prey with each other. "You can go ahead and pick the prey." She smiled lightly, her whiskers twitching as she heard her own stomach growl as the wind blew the scent of the fresh kill pile their way. The Somali licked her chest, a little embarrassed by her stomach's outburst. "Sorry, I didn't realize how hungry I was."
Lotus couldn't shake the feeling that something else was going on underneath the surface, though. She'd always had a strong intuition but sometimes she wished it would shut up. Sometimes ignorance was bliss, or some things were just none of her business. She glanced over once more at Leaffrost's siblings. They whispered in hushed tones, glancing between each other and Leaffrost. It made Lotuswaves realize her intuition wasn't wrong and something more was going on. If Leaffrost wants to talk about it, she will. No need to pry...especially right now. Decisively the Somali nodded to herself, sweeping away her worries for later.

She looked over the prey pile, picking up a sizable squirrel for the both of them to share. After picking her prey, she carried it off to the corner of the camp. She laid down beside it, gesturing the spot next to her for Lotuswaves. She wasn't fully hungry, more nervous about her planning forming inside her head. Should she leave after the cats fell asleep or just go into the darkness? She should stay for the vigil at least, right? She didn't know if it was even her place to mourn the she-cat, her adopted littermates deserved to mourn more than her. How silly of me, I can't forget she did raise me as her own for most of my life. She would want me by her side in mourning. I can leave a bit later into the night, use the excuse that I need to make dirt or something. Snapping away from her thoughts, she looked back to Lotuswaves.
"Have you ever found something out and it just changes your whole life?" She hoped her question wasn't as loaded as she thought it sounded. She needed to know if others had gone through anything similar, even if it wasn't as big as a lie as she had been living. She slowly took a bite of her prey as she waited her answer, chewing it softly in her mouth. It didn't taste like anything even though it was her usual favorite prey. She wasn't quick to swallow either, feeling as though it would stick in her throat.

>>Lotuswaves ----------------------------------------------------------
The Somali settled for a plump vole, the scent filled her mouth and nostrils as she carried it in her mouth over to their resting spot. It was mouth watering and made her stomach growl in want once again, luckily this time it was quieter than before. She followed Leaffrost over to the cozy corner of the camp, settling down next to her and taking a few hungry bites from her vole before casting a glance at Leaffrost. She looked distracted, even her movements were slow and thoughtful. Lotuswaves was just about to ask what was going through her mind when Leaffrost spoke up with her question.
It took the she-cat by surprised but she tried to reach back in her mind to answer. A little flash of a memory hit her like a ton of rocks and she let out a deep breath. "Now that you ask, yeah." She looked down at her paws. It wasn't anything she had ever told anyone before and she wasn't completely sure about sharing it at all but maybe it would help Leaffrost to focus on something other than her mother. "You can't tell anyone, okay? It's kind of a long story but I'll try to make it short." She took a deep breath again before letting it out in a long sigh. She tried not to think about the event too much. "I...fell in love with a loner a while ago. We were together for a few moons. She wanted me to leave the clan for her and I almost did...but...I just couldn't." The she-cat tried to hide the pain in her eyes as she mentally fought the images popping up in her head. "Anyways, I was going to meet with her to tell her I couldn't leave my clan and...I found her body on the side of the thunderpath." She felt she didn't have to explain what she meant. "Her death changed a lot of things for me." The she-cat shook her head, smiling apologetically. "Why do you ask?"

Well that solved her swallowing problem, quickly gulping down the prey in her mouth at the realization of what the warrior beside her had been hiding. Her own question made Leaffrost consider telling her, she had come forward with her own secrets after all it was only fair. What if she tries to stop me? I don't want to risk having the clan put me in some form of lockdown to keep me from sneaking off...She realized she hadn't answered her, instead she was staring at the squirrel before them with a distant look in her eyes. She gave a small awkward laugh, shaking her head.
"There's no reason for my question but thank you for telling me. That must have been really hard, huh? I've never really been in love with another cat but I can only imagine the pain that put you through." She shot her a sympathetic look, feeling for her. She had just lost her own mother now and it was already taking a toll on her. It wasn't that different, well actually it was. She had lost someone she planned to create a life with, even if she couldn't have made the final pawstep in leaving. "I won't tell anyone, I promise. Your secret is safe with me." It wasn't like she'd have the time to tell anyone anyways, as soon as the vigil has begun and the moon is high in the sky she will take her leave.
"Do you...regret not going? Like do you wish you went?" She realized how insensitive her questions might sound but she wanted to know the answer. What if she regretted leaving her clan?

"It was really hard, especially since I couldn't tell anyone about it. I didn't really have anyone to help me through it." Lotuswaves was trying hard not to sink into her emotions even though they lapped at her mind, wanting control. The she-cat shook her head, trying to shake off the sadness that clung to her at the memories thata resurfaced. She noticed even through her sadness that she felt a weight lifted from her shoulders. She thought that would be a secret she brought with her to Starclan, never telling another cat. It felt good to talk about it, to not be the only one with the knowledge. The somali couldn't help but smile a little, even if it didn't fit the mood. "Thank you for listening to me, and keeping it a secret." Lotuswaves spoke sincerely.
Leaffrost's second question made the she-cat pause though. "It's....complicated? I have a lot of feelings about it. I regret not going but I know ultimately that wasn't the path Starclan had chosen for me. I mean, they could have been nicer about delivering the message but that's besides the point." She found solace in humor in the face of dark subjects, even if it made some cats uncomfortable. "More than anything, I just miss her." She took a bite of her vole, chewing slowly before swallowing, taking the time to compose herself and shake the embarrassment of her confession.

She placed her tail over the she-cat in comfort, knowing her own questions might have reopened some healing wounds in her heart. She took another bite of the prey, letting silence fill the air between them. She took up watching the medicine cat's den, waiting for her mother's to be dragged out and prepared for the vigil. It wouldn't be long now, the sun was now nestled down in the sky casting rays of orange light onto them. She felt another wave of anxiety hit her, it wouldn't be too long before she had to plan an escape route, one no one would find her taking.
She looked back over to Lotuswaves, a sting in her heart now as she looked at the molly, this would be hard. She just told her that deep dark secret and now she would be taking her leave, something Lotuswaves never did. Should I offer her to come with me or should I still keep it hidden for now?

The body of Mottledream was laying beside her. She had been cleaning her fur for the most part, it looked just as it did when she was younger. It made her heart hurt for a few moments but she couldn't stay much longer. Please forgive me, Mottledream. You were the best mother I ever had the privilege of having but I need to know the truth. The full truth. When it looked like her littermates had fallen asleep beside her, she drew her paws underneath her body, pushing upwards to bring herself to the standing position. The cool night air hit her pelt quickly, having been shielded by her mother's body. She carefully removed herself from her littermates bodies, shaking off one of their tails from her foot.
The moon was lighting the clearing, letting her at least have some light for her travels. The camp seemed empty enough, only the guards remaining in the front of the camp. She would have to go through the dirt place if she wanted to remain unseen. She turned and moved through the camp quietly, if some cat stopped her should could easily excuse it as needing to make dirt. The branches of the camp's walls shuddered in her movement, pressing through them quickly. It had caused some noise of course but not enough to wake anyone she had hoped. The south end of the territory, I better look there first. I might have to sleep outside the twoleg dens but that's fine, a kittypet will be awake by sunrise I'm sure. She began to make her way further from the camp, ears perked for any movement in the forest beyond her.

Lotuswaves blinked her eyes open, letting out a big yawn and stretching before looking out of the mouth of the warrior's den to see what time of day it might be. The moon lit the clearing and the huddle of sleeping cats by Mottledream's unmoving body. Lotuswaves couldn't help but think of how....sleep like she looked. Like she could wake up any moment, but that would take a miracle. The she-cat was just about to lay her head back down to go to sleep when she noticed movement near the body and squinted her eyes to see more clearly.
Leaffrost was detaching herself carefully from her siblings and her mother, her face obscured by the night's shadow so Lotuswaves couldn't tell what emotions resided there. She almost brushed it off. Maybe she's going hunting or just leaving camp to clear her mind. It was again, none of her business anyways but she couldn't ignore the feeling in her gut. A mixture of worry and intuition. Fine, I'll go check on her, now settle down. She thought to her stomach as she carefully got up and picked her way out of the warrior's den, slipping into the shadows on the edge of camp as her instinct told her and followed Leaffrost out of the camp. It was very odd that the other she-cat had chosen to leave through the dirt tunnel, making Lotuswaves feel correct in her intuition that Leaffrost wasn't just leaving to clear her head.
The leaves rustled as she passed through the camp wall and knew that Leaffrost's ears would pick up on the noise. Think fast! Lotuswaves cleared her throat and asked, "Are you alright? Sorry if I snuck up on you, I just saw you leaving and....yeah." Brilliantly put, Lotuswaves.

She was startled by the entrance of Lotuswaves, jumping a bit in the air and backwards. She smoothed her fur quickly and tried to play casual but it was certainly not her forte to be such at the moment. "I'm fine, listen..." She trailed off, should she just be upfront now? Might as well since she's been caught. Maybe she'll understand and keep it a secret, if not I'll be long gone by the morning and they can't drag me back. There's nothing left to lose now.
"I just, hear me out. I'm leaving, I know this sounds foolish but I found some information out today. Mottledream isn't my real mother, she adopted me. I...I know where I was found but nothing more, I have to find my real mother. It's so silly but I need to do this for myself." She hoped it was enough of an explanation but it was only a bit of her feelings. She was nervous to go of course, she felt excited too though.. She never had seen the territory past their borders and it would be a new thrilling adventure. It felt like bees were buzzing through her legs, she could run all night at this point. "You can't stop me, Lotuswaves, I'm going. I need this for myself. I'll be fine I'm sure though, she couldn't have made it that far right?"

Lotuswaves blinked her silver eyes in surprise. She hadn't suspected that Leaffrost was running away, she just had a bad feeling in her gut. It was slowly dissipating as she thought on the information that had just come to light. There was no stopping the other she-cat and Lotuswaves' mind raced for a quick response as she had probably been taking too long, lost in her thoughts. What would she have done in this situation? What would she give to go back to before Rose died...Would her decision be different.
The somali quickly shook her head, trying to slow down and scatter the thoughts buzzing through her brain. With a determined look she said, "I understand, I promise. I'm not going to stop you...but," She paused for a second, wondering if she really wanted to do this. She realized yes, she did. She couldn't sit at camp knowing Leaffrost had gone out on her own. Anything could happen to her, and Lotuswaves wouldn't be able to sleep at night not knowing whether Leaffrost was in danger or not, if she was alive or dead, knowing she could have done something all along. "I'd like to come with you. Safety in numbers, right?" She tried to crack a charming smile, despite the nerves buzzing around in her chest.

Lotuswaves thought for a split second, tilting her head as she ran through all the possible dangers they could face. Foxes, badgers, rain, illness, injury. Lotus at the very least had a minor knowledge of herbs so she was sure she could help out in a situation where one of them was injured or sick. She was a capable fighter all though she mostly excelled at hunting and tracking. "I'm sure. I doubt we'll run into anything two capable cats can't handle." She smiled reassuringly before padding up beside Leaffrost, showing she was willing and ready to go.
"That's a good idea. By the time we get there it should be sunrise if not just a little bit past. The kittypets should be awake and moving by then." She had a little bit of knowledge about kittypet life as her mate had been an ex kittpet, abandoned by her owners. "Do you want to hunt or anything before we start moving?" Lotuswaves asked, wanting to get necessities out of the way first before they fully embarked on their journey.
