Alright, who has read the latest book, The Veil of Shadows? It came out two days ago, and I got it today and read it all in one sitting, so it is all very fresh. So, there are some things I'd like to point out that convince me it is Ashfur. I suppose it is a new book so I will caution with SPOILER ALERT! So, I thought early on that the voice was someone else other than Starclan and then when Bramblestar was possessed. The initial actions, the confusion of memory, and the testing of others was all very odd and could technically be any cat. But, specifically, the treatment of Squirrelflight sparked thoughts of Ashfur, and then it grew from there. In The Veil of Shadows some new key points are revealed. One of the BIGGEST tells is physical, and that is that we were given an eye color--- dark (or the adjective may have been "deep") blue. Who has dark blue eyes? Ashfur. Then, the obsession with Squirrelflight continues. Even though he exiled her, Bramblestar becomes frantic with the thought of finding her and bringing her back. Running the risk of exposing the Rebel camp, Squirrelflight conspires with Bristlefrost and Mothwing to fake her own death to keep Bramblestar from searching for her any longer. When he thinks she has died, he genuinely is distraught and grieves her. During the battle he is distracted and stunned by seekng that Squirrelflight is really alive. Later after the battle and he is a prisoner, Squirrelflight is checking on the health of Bramblestar's body (the Imposter is being looked after as a prisoner to preserve the body for the real Bramblestar to return). He wakes up and says, "I came back for you." He also mentions to Bristlefrost earlier in the book that there is still love between them no matter what has happened. So... Who has blue eyes and was desperately in love with Squirrelflight? Ashfur. I'll post my own new thread to explain my whole theory of why I believe Ashfur is the imposter.

The imposter is obviously him. The first book isn't exactly subtle about it, and the identity just gets more and more clear at the arc goes on.

Honestly people were already theorizing it was Ashfur back when Lost Stars was first released. The impostor is very clearly Ashfur, we just need in-text confirmation. There are so many hints and references to it being him.
