So, I'm currently on holdiay in France with my mum and she owns a big house with a lot of land and I thought to myself 'hey, this would be perfect territory for a Clan'. And then I thought what if it wasn't a conventional clan, but one that co-existed with the humans that owned the land they had built their Clan on. The home is lived in by an elderly couple and they own a couple of goats and chickens and don't mind the Clan cats on their land as it helps with the pest problem and they have always been a fan of cats themselves. They simple let the cats do their own thing, live independently on their large land (an old barn, large grassy areas, bramble thicket, an small stream at the bottom of the land which crossing over lands you in the cow farmer's land, lots of trees) without really bothering them (just so long as the cats don't hunt and kill their chickens).
I thought it could be a pretty cool idea to have Clan cats happily interacting with some old doddery humans from time to time while still being an independent clan and then in harsher winters with prey running low the Clan would be safe because the humans are happy to leave them food if they're desperate for it.
For extra fun we could have a Clan that lives the other side of the stream who are enemies and refuse to interact with twolegs and think the Clan is 'soft' and unable to take care of themselves properly. It could be a nice rivalry and it would be cool to have these two contrasting Clans. One who is happy to live and survive around Twolegs, and one who is totally against it, and therefore struggle more in the colder and barren months.
Anyone have any other thoughts of suggestions or would like to help out with something like this?

I'm no good at planning things like this but if it were real I would totally join! It sounds super chill and the dynamic of the second Clan by the river would be pretty neat. Maybe there could be a plot at some point where a cat from the rival Clan is killing chickens so the humans think it's the "soft" Clan? Just a thought :)

Awe thank you for just saying you would join! I'd love to get the Clan up and running at some point it would just need some more planning. But I do like that plot point idea, it could be really interesting to see what would happen if chickens started dying because of the rival clan and they get blamed for it. But I managed to head outside and took a couple of pictures just for a better view of what the land sort of looks like and the different ares avaliable for hunting and living on.
field outside the first of the old barn
around the back of the house, very dense and covered in ivy and brambles, very shady with lots of trees
an open clearing around the back of the house, could be used as a training ground for apprentices to practice fighting skills
further inland very dense again with nettles and brambles, but little trees so much more open and sunny
a marshy area next to the river, lots of mud you sink easily in and more nettles and brambles. almost completely untouched by humans because they can't walk very far in it.
the small stream, can be very fast flowing after lots of heavy rainful and the water level can rise dramatically. the opposite bank is the start of the farmer's field and it usually filled with cows. Other Clan's territory starts here.
the large field that boarders the long driveway from the main road down to the house. Long grass which is almost as tall as the cats themselves and very open. the main thunderpath starts just beyond the hedges at the top of the field and also marks the other edge of the Clan boarder.

I have not been able to come up with a name for this clan at all and it's really annoying me, so any suggestions on that front would be seriously helpful. I think the territory is sorted out already as it's just the same as what's around me I can do that pretty easily. As for the camp I feel as though the cats can make a lot of use out of the brambles and make their dens in the thickets and protect the walls with moss to stop anyone getting jabbed by any thorns.
I've also come up with a leader who I will just list down below so I remember the details, and also so if anyone is interested in making a deputy for him they can get a feel for the character and what sort of leader of this currently unnamed clan he is.
 KESTRELSTARtom . 57 moons . 4 lives leftKestrelstar is a sturdy built tom, rather blunky in size, but you could say a lot of that is down to his thick fur. While short it does add to his size and his tail, making him look thicker than he actually is. A lot of cats say that if he suddenly lost all his fur he would actually be half the size his usually is. But don't let his size intimidate you as he is quite the calm and peaceful cat and a pure heart beats inside his chest. The majority of this tom's fur is made up of dark brown fur covered in black tabby stripes, though his underbelly is a soft white, the colour stretching up his throat and also on his four paws, the back socks sneaking half-way up his legs. His eyes are a forest green and always have a kind twinkle to them as he looks upon the Clan he watches over. Before he was leader, or even a deputy, Kestrelstar used to go by the warrior name of Longwhisker, attributed to his rather long whiskers. But a moon had barely passed since being given his warrior name when he was given his new name of Kestrelheart. It is a story he does not like to tell, but it's still one the elders do like to tell young kits. One day, a kestral suddenly came down out of nowhere and snatched a very young and small kit right off the ground after she had managed to wiggle out of the nursery and away from their mother. Thankfully, Longwhisker happened to be nearby and thanks to his quick thinking, managed to leap for the bird before it got too high off the ground and savedthe kit from it's claws and from certain death. In celebration of his bravery and for saving the kit, Longwisker became Kestrelheart and it was no surprise when he was eventually named deputy further down the line. He is a kind-hearted cat and cares for every member of the Clan he loves, willing to do anything to keep them safe. He rules with a level head and never sways in his decisions, simply trying to be a leader than the Clan can trust. One of this tom's favourite activities is to shit and share tongues, just happy to hear everyone's stories and get the oppoertunity to get to now his Clan just that little bit better. Kestrelstar just wants to be a cat young kits and apprentices can look up to and to help inspire the new generation as he knows that he is not going to be around forever. LIVES LOST:1. Greencough 2. I'm going to keep jotting down ideas and things I come up with here until someone else comes along and wants to help. Or maybe not, but it's still easier to have everything in one place. I came up with some mini plot ideas I'm going to list below. These are not going to be main plot ideas, but just something make the roleplay more interesting and to give more characters the chance of being a part of a small plot. If any of these sound interesting to you, feel free to claim them now!
MINI PLOT IDEAS:
Plot #1: Medicine cats are not supposed to take mates, let alone have any kits of their own. Queen 1 [open] falls pregnant and has always denied knowledge of who the father of her unborn kits are. Everyone just accepts it. Moons later Queen 1 gives birth to a healthy litter of two kits, Kit 1 [open] and Kit 2 [open]. Strangely enough, Kit 1 seems to have a striking resemblence to Medicine Cat [open] and cats start to get suspicious about who the real father of the kits is.
Plot #2: One afternoon Apprentice 1 [open] and Apprentice 2 [open] decide that they're bored of just sitting around camp and decide to sneak out to explore on their own. All seems to be going well, but suddenly a fox appears out of nowhere and chase the two apprentices up a tree. Now they're stuck up there with a hungry fox prowling around the trunk. Hours pass, but eventually help arrives in the form of Warrior 1 [open] and Warrior 2 [open], the apprentices mentors who went looking for the missing apprentices when they realzed they were missing.
Plot #3: Warrior 3 [open, around 40 moons] is the cat that Kestrelstar saved back when they were still a very young kit and the leader was only a young warrior themselves. Then, six moons later, Warrior 3 became the then Kestrelheart's apprentice. It is no secret that Warrior 3 has been completely enamoured with Kestrelstar ever since and is always trying to gain his favour and prove themselves as a dependable cat and warrior.
Plot #4: It is a very cold morning, frost on the ground and it's discovered that Elder 1 [open] has gone missing! Elder 1 is known to have some memory problems in their old age, so a small patrol of Warrior 4 [open], Warrior 5 [open] and Apprentice 3 [open] is sent out to try and track the missing Elder down. They find the trail, but it seemed to be leading towards the river and upon arrival it looks as though the trail starts up again on the other side, in the rival Clan's territory. The hunt is now on to find Elder 1 before cats from the rival Clan finds them first.

I’m also struggling to think of a name that isn’t too far fetched. Would they name their Clan after the barn? After whoever may have founded the Clan? The opposing Clan could have a name based on the environment (maybe StreamClan or FieldClan or ForestClan, I’m not sure). BarnClan just seems... idk. It’s a name but I don’t really think I like it. Maybe with some lore you could make a name akin to the original Clans, but then we’re back to the naming issue.
Worst case scenario you find one those 10 word generators and see what sounds neat haha

While BarnClan is indeed a name, I don't really think that sounds all too great. And doesn't have that great a meaning because they don't live in a barn, there just happens to be one on the land they hunt in for mice sometimes. I did think about naming the Clan based on the name of the house, but the translation from French is literally 'The House', so that's not going to work, either XD
It's not really a farm, per se. It's just an old house in a large plot of land with a couple of chickens and goats. They're surrounded by farmers fields and cow fields and the like, but CowClan doesn't exactly sound great xD I do sort of like the sound of VineClan. There are a lot of vines growing up the side of the house and the barns so it might be a nice idea.
And honestly, I have zero coding prowess so if you could do a layout that would be amazing ;;; Nothing too excessive, just earthy sort of colors and pretty simple looking would be good enough for me. And don't worry about a banner, I do have some photoshop prowess and can throw something up in there no problem. Thank you for the offer, though!

As to ThornClan, I was wondering maybe they live in an abandoned barn deeper into their territory; twolegs no longer use it so the cats have reclaimed it. Would that go against their beliefs? |
