I definitely enjoyed Tree's the most, and I loved how it helped explain alot of his current behavior, from not hunting as regularly as a warrior should to even small things like his hunting tactics.
His relationship with Root was really sweet, and though I guessed why he seemed so indifferent towards SkyClan since SqH, it's still good to actually see what his time in with the Sisters was like, how emotionally detached Moonlight seemed to be towards him just because he was a tom. With the threat of exile, it must've reminded him of being with the Sisters all over again. And keeping Pebbleshine's talk must've made him feel even more betrayed.
Now if only they'd remember he was actually a codebreaker, since he still isn't counted as one in VoS.
PK was alright. I liked seeing how Pebbleshine interacted with different cats (the one with Bug and Bunny was my favorite), and I love how determined she was to get back to her Clan.
Mothwing's was my least favorite. Not because I hated it, I just found it to be a little unnecessary. Although, I genuinely felt sad for her as her relationship with Hawkfrost began to change.
Overall, I really liked this compilation.

I... kinda like Tree (Or at least am neutral on him) now that I understand him fully why he acts the way he does about tradition and whatnot as of the novella. It makes sense. x.x
I still hate VioletTree tho, and his Mediator role is still stupid but... yeah... I get him now. Plus this is very trivial but I see some of my OC in him who I feel is kinda similar in a way.
Also I think the Wikia stated that Tree not being accounted for as a codebreaker will be fixed in reprints? So at least there's that.

My thoughts on Pebbleshine's Kits: Just such a... "why does this exist" book. During the preview parts I thought it looked at least fun but once she ditched the kittypets it just became boring. We know what happens. She's gonna die, and her kits get left behind. Also, why the **** was Micah making a cameo? Just weird. Ranks out in my bottom third of my novellas (13/18). It's not good, but it's not egregiously terrible so it just falls into a massive "meh" category for me. My thoughts on Tree's Roots: I love Tree, and I was entirely not expecting to like this book that much, because I figured it would have an emphasis on the Sisters. It did, but to be honest those parts weren't as bad as I thought, knowing already what basically would happen, that he would leave them. Stream's death was... wow, man. And then him finding Root (he named his son after his dad and that is ****ing adorable) and Root basically existing for all of two chapters but suddenly having a really emotional scene and line ("im dying and I dont want to be alone") was out of left field but honestly really great. Even his time with Pebbleshine was nice enough and overall ranks as my 4th favorite novella. A really good book overall. My thoughts on Mothwing's Secret: I was expecting to like this book, and I was also expecting to like it in spite of itself, if that makes sense. I was thrilled to discover this was such an amazing book. It did a phenominal job of not just parroting scenes from TNP and I can think of very few aside from Mudfur's death and kinda the Gathering scene, as a flashback, that appeared. Seeing Mothwing's/RiverClan's reaction to Hawkfrost's death and seeing Mothwing actually know the truth of what happened was great. Her having that moment of confrontation turing the TLH-time period was great too and her having that sorta revelation she seems to come to before LS, actually happen here works amazingly for her character. It was a pleasant surprise for me, honestly, to get a RiverClan/Mothwing specifically point of view turning TLH, and so I'm just really happy with this book overall. My new favorite novella and breaking it's way into my top 10 books overall.

I've read only Pebbleshine's Kits so far, but here's my thoughts: I was really hoping it would flesh her out as a character, but it didn't do that. She was pretty boring. And as nightstep said, there's no suspense because we know she dies. I guess it was interesting seeing her make the choice to stay behind as a ghost and watch over her kits, but..it's nothing really groundbreaking. Again, seconding nightstep in that it's a very "meh" book overall. I did like Micah's cameo though, and some confirmation on cats like Billystorm and Duskpaw being in StarClan. I was just hoping it would be better, and not extremely bland. I'm currently reading Tree's Roots, will post about it when I'm done. As well as Mothwing's Secret (though I have no hopes for it) of course.

I thought Mothwing's novella was unncessary as well, but I really felt for her as her relationship with Hawkfrost detoriated. I kinda wish the novella had a stronger central story in a way, but so many of these novellas feel kind of aimless to me?

Pebbleshine's Kits: I mean, it was alright. It didn't really do much for me, but it wasn't really bad. Pebbleshine's interactions with Bug and Bunny were pretty cute, but most of the book was pretty forgettable. Tree's Roots I loved this one. I think it came out at a pretty good time, seeing Tree try to bond with his son in TST the same way he bonded with his father is pretty cute. It also explains why Tree isn't big on tradition as he knows how flawed it can be. The title is also hilarious. This is one my my favorite novellas, definitely. Mothwing's Secret (VOS spoilers below) I liked this one. While it didn't tell us anything we didn't already know, it was nice getting Mothwing's perspective on the TNP events. I like that they time-skipped to TLH so we can see Mothwing's reaction to the Dark Forest and StarClan and how she came to the conclusion that StarClan exists, but isn't actually that wise or powerful. This book is sad after Mistystar exiled her in VOS. Mothwing always felt like something of an outsider and having that confirmed by her former mentor of all people must of hurt.
