I finished it. I will post pictures tomorrow, but right now my mobile device is having issues.
So, after the HarperCollins preview, here's the main plot:
Here's the plot from Alderpaw/heart's POV:
Alderpaw arranges to bring Twigkit to meet Violetkit again.
But as he's heading there, Darktail attacks him. Bloosomfall, Stormcloud, and Whitewing come to save him.
But Blossomfall is killed and Twigkit is taken by Darktail, who reveals that she is his daughter. Back at the camp, Bramblestar, Jayfeather, and Squirrelflight are incredibly disappointed with Alderpaw. Alderpaw is given a huge punishment, and is watched at all times. Briarlight can barely look at him. Then Alderpaw has a weird dream about a dark cloud covering the sky. He focuses on it, and thinks he sees a face forming in it, but is attacked before he can make it out. However, Alderpaw is saved by SkyClan, but he sees Darktail standing among the ranks of SkyClan. He then believes that the prophecy is about finding the SkyClan warriors cast into the shadows. He wakes up and tells Jayfeather and Sparkpaw about his dream. Someone wonders if they need to work with Darktail to save the Clans, but they get shot down. Needlerfrost shows up, with her warrior name, and helps Alderpaw escape from ThunderClan camp. She says that they should go and try to rescue Twigkit. Darktail is hiding out in the tunnels, and Needlefrost and Alderpaw see him coversing with a mysterious pool of water.
Alderpaw wonders if its his version of a Moonpool. Then Needlefrost runs in and attacks Darktail. It turns out that she only wanted to fight Darktail, and that she was planning to take Twigkit for ShadowClan. Needlefrost loses, but Alderpaw runs in and pushes Darktail into his pool of water, giving the two time to escape.
After that, Alderpaw says that his friendship with Needlefrost is over.
Later, Sparkpaw gets her warrior name, and Alderpaw is somewhat jealous. After Leafpool is blinded, the connection between Squirrelflight and Leafpool seriously messes up Squirrelflight. This happens when Bramblestar and Jayfeather are away at the Moonpool, asking StarClan for guidance. Ivypool is also kitting at this time, and Alderpaw delivers the kits as he puts Whitewing in charge of the camp. When Jayfeather gets back, Lionblaze tells him about what Alderpaw did, and Jayfeather realizes that even though Alderpaw made a lot of mistakes, they all came from a good place in his heart.
So he gives him his name, Alderheart. After Alderheart gets his name, Rain shows up with severe burns.
He says that they were caused by Darktail.
Then he says that Darktail used to be a cat that he believed in, but now he's gone mad. Rain explains that Darktail was born from the remnants of BloodClan, but heard of SkyClan and went to join it in search of a better life. However, they cast him out instead. Rain's family lived and hunted near the gorge for generations, but were chased off when SkyClan moved in. Darktail gathered Rain and other cats like him, who had frustrations with SkyClan, and together they formed their own group. Originally, they only wanted a better life for themselves, but one day Darktail snapped, and became obsessed with revenge on SkyClan.
He led the rogues to attack SkyClan and drive them out. They followed him because he had previously been a good leader, but now that he's dragged them to the lake, some cats are wondering if he's gone mad.
Rain begs with Alderheart to save Darktail from himself, and then dies--but not before telling Alderheart that there are rumors of a small group of SkyClan cats living in a Twolegplace nearby. Bramblestar allows Alderheart to take Hollytuft, Dovewing, Lionblaze, and Stormcloud to see if the rumors are true. They search the Twolegplace and gather information, and eventually find where the SkyClan cats are supposedly staying.
In an abandoned house.
However, they find only rogues, who attack them.
They barely survive the attack. They also manage to drive off the rogues. The warriors conclude that it was just another trap.
They rest for the night, and in the morning, one of the warriors brings in Dawnpelt, who reveals that ShadowClan has fallen.
Apparently, Darktail said that ThunderClan is next, so the warriors say that they should go home and protect the Clan. But Alderheart looks around the house and discovers something that smells of SkyClan. (He remembers the smell from his dream.) He runs back to the warriors and yells that SkyClan are there, and that they have to stay and find them. Three of the warriors don't believe him, and leave for ThunderClan.
But Hollytuft and Dawnpelt stay with him.
And Alderheart says that the three of them are the only hope for the Clans.
Here's the plot from Violetkit/paw's POV:
Needlepaw tells Violetkit about the prophecy, causing Violetkit to get really nervous, and worry that she'll fail to live up to the standards of ShadowClan. So when she becomes an apprentice, she goes out and catches a ton of prey. Meanwhile, Leafpool is blinded, leaving her unable to continue Puddlepaw's training. Some of the prey Violetpaw caught carries sickness, so a whole bunch of ShadowClan cats get sick. Puddlepaw can barely do anything to help the sickness. Puddlepaw then has a breakdown and brings Darktail to ShadowClan, convinced that Darktail can help with the sickness. Instead, Darktail picks off the weakened ShadowClan cats. Puddlepaw eventually decides to stay with Darktail of his own freewill. But when Violetpaw tries to escape with them, Sleekpaw pushes her away, telling her that she destroyed ShadowClan.
Then Sleekpaw breaks Violetpaw's leg and leaves her for dead. She spends a few hours alone, slowly dying. However, she's found by Hawkwing and Sol. The book ends with Hawkwing asking her if she's Firestar's kin, and if so, he's been looking for her.
Post any questions you have for the book here. Man, the wait for Shattered Sky is gonna be long.
