So basically, there’s two parts of the town, the super rich part of the town with super big and fancy houses, and then the poor part of town that obviously isn’t that lucky, that’s? Pretty much about it, um let’s also say that it’s summer right now so that everyone is out of school and stuff, otherwise??? Just jump in, I guess
Also, here are my characters: Kelvin Quinn - 57 Kassidy Quinn - 55 Kendra Quinn - 20 Kathryn “Kate” Quinn - 18 Kipling “Kip” Quinn - 18 Kadence “Kacie” Quinn - 18 Karlotta “Kirby” Quinn - 16 Kenneth Quinn - 15 Kalvin Quinn - 13
Plus Carol...idk her last name, lets go with Johnson, yeah Carol Johnson, probably in her 50s, soccer mom extraordinaire, and the head of the HOA Committee (and the power walking HOA clique)
“Do we have to go? Carol always tries to pinch my cheeks at these stupid events,”
Kassidy looked over at her youngest son and shook her head lightly. ”I know, Kalvin, but if we don’t show up, the neighbors won’t invite us to anything anymore and I cannot handle the scorn of the HOA power walking clique,” she explained and looked away, a sort of glazed look crossing over her light blue eyes. ”They’re so mean,” She murmured.
Kalvin watched as his mother stared off into the distance, he assumed she was having some sort of flashback type of situation right now.
Luckily, his father came by and pulled her out of it.
”You’re mother’s right, besides how are any of you supposed to make friends with the other kids in the neighborhood if we never interact with them?” Kelvin asked, smiling down at Kalvin.
Kalvin looked up at him with an unimpressed expression. ”That’s kind of the point, I don’t want to get to know the other ‘kids’ in this stick up neighborhood,” he declared.
Kelvin rolled his eyes and placed a hand on Kalvin’s back, guiding him outside. ”I know, but you should at least try,” he told him.
Kalvin frowned but didn’t push it. ”Well if I have to go, the rest of my siblings should too, where are they anyways?” He asked, glancing around as he noticed the lack of older siblings.
Kassidy answered him there as all three of them started walking down the street. ”The triplets said they’d meet us there, they had something to do first, and Kirby and Kenneth were heading over from the park,” she explained and Kalvin sighed, looking down at his feet.
Great, so his siblings got to show up late while he got personally chaperoned by his parents the entire time.
Sometimes being the youngest was just the worst.

Mwanwhile, there were two brothers and a sister making an attempt to make themselves look as fancy and posh as possible. The oldest, Joseph, had washed his face and put himself in a rather nice dark blue suit. It went very nicely with his sapphire blue eyes and light brown hair. The young man was rather handsome and could easily pass as one of the richer kids. However, the boy he was currently trying to fix up, his little brother Liam, or Lee for short, was a totally different story. The boy was dressed spnicely, but he complained as his older brother tried to wash the dirt off his face, and almost refused to fix his hair. He wasn’t used to this.
“Why do we have to go to this event?” Lee complained just as Jospeh had finally managed to fix his hair. Lee was a rather cute boy, with almost always rosy cheeks, and big brown eyes with light brown hair. He looked a lot like Joseph.
“Because. It’s fun. And also if we go maybe we’ll make friends with a richer kids and get some sort of relationship with them that might be able to help us in the diphtheria.” Joseph explained,
“Or, we could also find love.” Came a third voice. It was their sister, Juliana, who was younger than Joseph but older than Lee. Her usual long, dark brown hair was put up into a fancy bun, and she had somehow managed to find a lovely, flowing blue dress that matched the color of Joseph’s suit. They had matched purposefkymin order to look more organized and put together.
“Yeah, not on my watch you’re not. Rich or not I’m not letting you be taken away tonight by some boy.” Joseph grumbled, and Juliana frowned. Soon they were ready though. They just hoped this worked.

Hi! Here are my characters. It's been a hot minute since I role played so bear with me c:
The Ziegler Family | The Goodman Family | Rodney Ziegler (45) Eliza Ziegler (46) Rodney "Cody" Ziegler (20) Fiona Ziegler (17) Addison Burns-Ziegler (17) [Adopted] Genevieve "Gen" Burns-Ziegler (13) [Adopted] | Andrea Goodman (52) June Goodman (16) Harry Jr. Goodman (16) Mark "Markie" Goodman (11)
|
The Ziegler's - (Starter)
For the first time ever it seemed that the Ziegler house was empty, beside a handful of wait staff. The polished floors were unscuffed and every thing was peaceful, for the time being. The main reason being that the entirety of the Zielger household was out in the large front yard helping prepared for the annual HOA neighborhood event. This year, the Ziegler's were the host family.
Eliza Ziegler was in her zone, specifically since she spent the majority of her days helping others prepare for their events. Her bright blonde hair was pulled into a tight bun and her thin pale arms clung to the clipboard in her grasp. Around her people were setting up different things for entertainment. While the Ziegler's were the host family, the entire block was to take part in the set up for this. Of course, it was supposed to be a whole community effort. The main job of the host family was to make announcements and to have seating for the others. Eliza was taking this way too seriously though, and did not hesitate to drag her children into the preparation.
Cody was a master at avoiding his mother and was taking this time to hide in the backyard, toes dipped in the swimming pool. Due to today's events, the backyard was open to all the neighbors, but as people had barely begun to arrive Cody was essentially alone. He was dressed in a swim trunks and a gold chain, but he hadn't bothered to put on a shirt. If his mother saw him he'd be dead, but he didn't care. He wasn't the only one back here anyway, his father sat at the poolside bar smoking a cigarette, not saying a word to his son. He was also avoiding his wife, mainly just to stay out of her hair.
The other Ziegler children were not as lucky as their oldest sibling. Not that it really mattered to them. Fiona was essentially attached to her mothers hip, her little parrot - repeating nearly everything her mother said to the staff. She was dressed similarly to her mother, as both women were dressed in long flow-y dresses covered in flowers. The only difference between their attire - besides the color scheme of their dresses - was that Fiona's hair was in a half-up, half-down style, meant to keep some of it out of her eyes but also meant to make her seem more approachable. Despite being mommy's little me, Fiona did intend to slip away eventually to go and flirt.
The other two Ziegler children were running around adhering to every word their mother shouted. Unlike Cody and Fiona, these two children did not look like their parents - nor were they related to them by blood. The older of the two was Addison. He was dressed in board shorts and a grey polo shirt, his sandals slapping on the concrete as he ran from errand to errand for his adopted mother. Little Gen was helping too, but a little less than the other two. She kept hiding under tables and sneaking up on servers. At thirteen, Gen was definitely a trouble-maker, no matter how many death glares her older brother continued to give her.
The Goodman's - (Starter)
"Mom, do we really have to go to this thing?" the whiny voice of Markie Goodman echoed through the creaky car the four Goodman's were piled into. He swung his feet, kicking the back of the passenger seat.
An older women swung around to look at him, "Markie, honey, we were invited by the family June babysits for. It would be rude for us to not show up." Markie looked at his mother with his big green eyes and pouted, but was quickly distracted by the arm of his older sister being thrown over him, "I'm sorry lil' bro, I didn't want to make you come but mom insists that it'll be good for you."
"I insist because I am right," now Miss Goodman - Andrea - was pouting, but it quickly faded into a smile, "I was finally able to get you guys into that darned school everyone in this neighborhood goes to, Markie. By the end of summer, don't you want to have friends at school?"
Markie huffed, and then nestled his head into June's side. He was a shy kid, but hopefully seeing kids closer to his age would help cheer him up. Especially since he was in a grade higher than everyone his age - born right before the kindergarten cutoff - and it was hard for him to make friends. June and Andrea exchanged a look for a moment before Andrea turned back around to look at the road.
The Goodman's were dressed in their best Sunday clothes, wanting to make a good impression on the people in the HOA governed neighborhood. Now that her kids would be going to the same schools, it was important that Andrea became friends with the moms, no matter how mean to her they had been in high school. Andrea was dressed in black slacks and pretty floral blouse, while her two sons - Markie in the back and Harry in the driver seat - were dressed in their best jeans and off-brand polo shirts. June was probably the best dressed as she was the main bread maker of the family with her babysitting gig and she was dressed in her favorite summertime dress.
"Alright team," interrupted the very grown voice of Harry Goodman, slicing through the now silent car, "We're just now at the end of the street. It looks like this is where we can park since the road is blocked off a little ways up, so-" before he could finish, Markie was pushing open his door - thank goodness Harry had parked - and was flowing out of the car, June scooting right behind him out the door. She took Markie's hand and waved goodbye to her mother and twin brother as she walked the littlest Goodman down the street.
Harry shook his head at them with a smile before climbing out the car and meeting his mother at the back of the car to help her pull out her walking stick, "We'll catch up with them later, mom. C'mon."

Joseph led the trio up a dirt path, leaving their tiny house in darkness. They were all they had left, their parents having been out of the picture for a very long time. It was like one night they just packed up and left, leaving their three children behind. Now the three were determined to somehow get in with the richer crowd. They wore jackets over their clothes so they wouldn’t seem suspicious to their neighbors as they made the trip towards the wealthy section of town. They threw their jackets off to the side in a hidden spot before fixing themselves up one more time before making an attempt to go join the event.

It wasn’t long before the Quinn parents and their youngest arrived at that event. Greetings had been a little awkward but Kassidy knew that she wasn’t exactly Mrs. Popularity with the HOA, apparently you weren’t supposed to let your kids conduct science experiences in the front yard or whatever, the burnt grass ruined the “flow” of the neighborhood’s pristine aesthetic.
But honestly, so long as she could avoid the HOA power walking clique, she would be fine.
Once inside, Kassidy turned to Kelvin and Kalvin. ”Alright, I think our best tactic here is to divide and conquer, Kalvin, I expect you to be on your best behavior and I don’t know, socialize with the other kids your age,” she told him and the young teenager let out a grunt. ”I’m taking that as agreement,” Kassidy decided optimistically and turned to face Kelvin next. ”You and I were go and talk to the adults while keeping an eye out for the others when they arrive, Kirby and Kenneth will probably behave but I don’t trust the triplets,” She explained, about ready to dive into more when she heard a voice behind her and turned on the heels of her feet to see a tall woman with blonde hair up in a bun that looked about as stiff as a rock.
”Hello there Kassie! Where is that adorable son of yours?” The woman asked as she approached. ”I just wait to pinch those chubby cheeks of his!”
Kassidy forced a smile and casually stood in front of Kalvin, blocking him from view. “Carol! How nice to see you!” She started loudly, then in a whisper, she leaned back slightly to speak to her son. “Because I love you, I must insist that you run,” she told him in a quiet voice.
Kalvin seemed to get the idea and quickly scurried off and out of view.

𝕊’𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕖 hope this is okay c: It wasn't long before people were showing up to the event. The entire neighborhood was there - which was the point - and Eliza could finally relax. As much as a pain in the you-know-what she was toward her neighbors, she too had to kiss the bottom of Carol. So, when she was finally complete shouting orders and handing the clipboard off to her mini me, she made sure to pinpoint Carol's exact whereabouts. She definitely would not have been caught dead being someone else's minion in high school, but that was so long ago. After having her oldest barely into adulthood, she had nearly been ostracized by the whole neighborhood, but she quickly became one of Carol's right hand men. Ah, there she is, Eliza thought when she finally located Carol. She straightened her skirt and briskly walked toward her, but her step faltered when she watched as Carol ambushed Kassidy Quinn. Eliza was not a fan of the Quinn's, much like the rest of the neighborhood, but she played nice as long as they did. First of all, Carol and Kassidy were more than ten years older than Eliza. While they had started their families around the same time, Eliza was always behind them. So, she made it a point to become Carol's - and here we are, chocking on the word - minion. Eliza quickly regained her stride and mustered a quick, "Carol! Kassidy!" and in a few short steps she was beside Carol, smiling widely at Kassidy Quinn, her eyes watching as her youngest child ran off to join the festivities. She hoped the rascal wouldn't go bother her youngest child, but that thought quickly faded, "So, ladies, what are we chatting about over here?" Her voice was overly sweet and her stature mirrored that of Carol's, "I just wanted to let you two know that my pool is open for all the neighbor's as well and we have just restocked the bar so drinks on me!" She followed that with a nervous laugh, but maintained her posture and attention toward the other two women.

Oh no.
Kassidy looked over as another woman approached.
Eliza Ziegler.
Or as Kassidy had come to refer to her as - in the safety of her own home only, obviously - Carol’s pawn. Her little henchman, henchy henchy Eliza. She wasn’t as bad as Carol was, but it wasn’t like Kassidy enjoyed her company either.
”Eliza! Lovely house, I uh, I love what you did with the uh...the-“ Kassidy froze as she looked around for something to compliment. “The walls...” The house had walls, it counted as a compliment.
After her failure at a compliment, Kassidy forced a smile as she looked at Eliza.
“Ooh, Eliza, you do know how I like my margaritas!” Carol said with a laugh as she placed hands on both their shoulders, guiding them further inside.
Honestly, Kassidy was figuring that Carol would’ve said hi and then left, like usual, but for some reason, she was keeping Kassidy around this time and honestly? Kassidy wasn’t here for it, it made her suspicious. Carol was probably gonna tell her off for something, or ask her to do something, or maybe she just wanted someone to make fun of, it was hard to tell what went on in her head behind that incredibly fake “nice” act of hers.

For a moment, Eliza stared blankly at Kassidy. The sorry attempt at a compliment failed and Eliza bit her tongue to fight back a snarky remark. Instead her blank stare transformed in a grateful smile, "Oh, thank you! Rod and I just got our interior repainted a few months ago!"
As she was finishing her sentence, she felt Carol's arm swing over her shoulder as the woman guided both Eliza and Kassidy further into her home. Typically, Eliza would be fretting about dirt getting on her floors, but this event was more important to her than that of her clean floors. In any case, someone would clean them for her later.
Further into the house they headed, and Eliza grew worrisome. She hadn't checked up on her husband in a while and she really hoped he wasn't making a fool of himself, God knew he could get crazy after a few glasses of whiskey. Onward they went, however, through the foyer and then hall and then the kitchen into the back yard. Stopping a few feet away from the bar as Carol went on about margaritas, "Of course, Carol. I think Rodney is mixing up a batch right now!"
Luckily, she was right and she flashed a grateful smile at her husband who returned hers with a more flirty smile. Eliza knew her cheeks grew slightly rosy, but she wasn't phased. She would never feel ashamed for the butterflies her husband gave her. With gentle grace, Eliza pulled out of Carol's grip and stepped toward the bar where she was handed two margarita's, one of which she handed to Carol and the other she sipped herself.
"Did you want one?" She asked Kassidy sweetly, licking the salt from the cup off her lips as she did, "We have lime and strawberry, whichever you'd prefer."

Meanwhile the three siblings had also arrived, trying to look as least out of place as possible. Joseph has at least come to one of these events once before to scope things out. Although he didn’t stay too long he at least knew what to expect. Juliana and Lee on the other hand, were clueless.
“I’m going to go try to mingle.” Joseph told them, “Lee, stay with your sister okay? And Juliana don’t go off doing something stupid okay?” He asked.
Julianna just rolled her eyes, “oh please, I’m not dumb.” She said, “it’s not like I’m always purposely trying to cause trouble you know.” She joked. Joseph just sighed and shook his head before turning and going off into the crowd as he looked for someone to talk to. Julianna looked around slightly nervously now, “we’ll, where to first?” She ask Lee, who just shrugged before looking up at her to take her hand.

Following Carol and Eliza into the background, Kassidy looked around for any of her family.
Kelvin wasn’t too far off, and seemed to be awkwardly listening in on a conversation between a couple of the other fathers there, each dressed in their own unique “dad” shorts, and by that, Kassidy meant that they were wearing different colored Hawaiian shirts that were probably made out of the nicest material shirts like that could’ve been made of...of course Kelvin stuck out like a sore thumb among the other men due to the fact that instead of the obviously favored Hawaiian shirt, he was wearing his usual collared shirt and vest.
Kassidy had once asked him if he got hot wearing all those clothes during the summer, in which he had responded that yes he did, but he couldn’t change his style now.
Shaking her head lightly, Kassidy waved over at her husband before continuing her search for the rest of the Quinns.
She had absolutely no idea where Kalvin had wondered off too, but Kirby and Kenneth had arrived at least and the two teenagers had found the pool and well...instead of going in they seemed to be waiting for permission.
Polite but also probably a little awkward, Kassidy tried to get their attention but neither of them seemed to notice.
Frowning slightly, Kassidy jumped in surprise when she realized someone was talking to her and quickly composed herself, looking back over to Eliza and Carol.
Oh right, drinks.
Carol looked rather excited to have her own margarita, happily sipping from it without a care in the world.
“Oh uh...” Kassidy started. Would it be rude to refuse? Probably. She wasn’t a big fan of alcohol but she could forget about that for this. “Yeah sure, any flavor, I’m sure they’re all great.”

Kalvin wasn’t proud of the fact that he had hid.
But listen, when Carol came running, hands out and ready to pinch cheeks, you hid.
He was thirteen now, a full teenager and everything, it was frankly insulting to have his cheeks pinched at such a mature age. Besides, he had out grown the whole “yay adult attention” thing by the time he was seven. Adults were boring, they bought nothing but diet soda and acted like it helped them lose weight and they didn’t seem to realize it when the younger generation actually aged.
To people like Carol, Kalvin was stuck at seven and he just wasn’t in the mood to deal with that right now.
Grumbling to himself, Kalvin dusted off his clothes and started to look to make his way to the backyard. Hopefully, the triplets would be here soon and then things could actually get interesting.
Kalvin knew it was technically “wrong” to have favorite siblings, but when one was lame like Kenneth and three were cool like the triplets, it was hard to remain neutral.
Finally finding his way to the backyard, Kalvin looked around until he spotted a secluded, shaded area far enough away from everyone else that he probably could lie low until the triplets arrived.
Satisfied with it, he started off towards his designated location, doing his best to avoid people in general.

Julianna and Lee looked around some more to try finding what they could possibly do to occupy their time. They were beginning to look like odd ducks being so clueless and discombobulated.
“Jul... people are staring.” Lee stated softly.
Julianna nodded a little, “I know.. let’s just.. get out of the limelight yes? Maybe take a step outside real quick.” She suggested, offering a small smile to her little brother. He nodded nervously in agreement before following after her.
Meanwhile Joseph had found an alcoholic drink of some sort and was currently talking with a few people. The conversation didn’t last long though, leaving Joseph to just people watch once more.

The Graves family
A black suv pulled up to the function, having trouble finding a spot to park, but eventually found one fairly close to the Ziegler house. It appeared that most of the neighborhood was already here, but it was hard to show up to events on time when you had four of your children in tow. Felicity stepped out of the drivers seat, watching with a beaming smile as her family scrambled out of the car. Her husband came around the car to hold her hand as they began to walk the short distance to join the others. "Colin, it looks like Eliza did a good job. Good for her, I'm sure she was stressed." She mused, looking around with interest. She wore a blue and white aline dress, with her long dirty blond hair in a half-up, half-down style and her large golden hoops dangling from her ears. Beside her, Colin only nodded his head in response in his dark blue dress shirt and khaki shorts, squeezing her hand lightly. Their children were far ahead of them, walking faster while the adults let them go and were satisfied with taking their time. When they arrived at the property, the couple went straight inside and to the bar, where the other adults were likely to be hanging out. "Hello, Carol, Eliza!" Felicity smiled warmly at the ladies, giving Eliza a small side-hug as she came up to join them. "Eliza, this is wonderful, you've done a great job." She murmured her approval, her blue gaze then landing on Kassidy. "Hello Kassidy." She greeted with a genuine smile. Felicity didn't have a problem with the Quinn family like several people in the neighborhood did, but she got along with just about everyone. It took a lot to get on this woman's bad side. Colin stood at her side, giving the ladies a smile and nodding a silent greeting before he glanced around to look for where the other men were congregating. He gave his wife a quick kiss on the cheek and said "I'll be over there." Before slipping off to mingle with the guys.
As soon as she got out of the stuffy vehicle, Vivian took a deep breath of fresh air and ran towards the party. Her mother had asked her if she wanted to wear a dress, which she of course said no to. Every time she wore dresses her mother always nagged her with things like close your legs, don't sit like that or don't play in the dirt wearing your nice clothes or hun, you can't do a handstand, everyone's going to see your underwear. So Vivian had decided to not wear a dress whenever she could help it. Her mother let her slide with some leggings and a nice shirt, so she was happy. Her dark brown hair was pulled out of her face in a low ponytail. Running past her parents and siblings, she reached the party before the rest of her family. "Hello!" She hummed towards the other attendees, some of who she recognized - although didn't really know their names - but most were strangers. She weaved around them, her running slowing to a brisk walk, then finally stopping to look around for something to do.
Kinsleigh sighed as she exited the suv and walked towards the Ziegler household. She didn't really want to be here, but her father insisted and convinced her to come along. She wore a loose white sundress and her dark brown hair was in a messy bun at the back of her head. She headed straight for the pool, sighing in relief as she reached the backyard. It was far less crowded than the other areas, which calmed her nerves a bit. She didn't bother to greet the other people around the pool as she kicked off her sandals and pulled her sundress over her head, revealing her plain black bikini. Her parents had asked her to bring her one piece swimming suit to the event, as it was more modest, but Kinsleigh obviously didn't care since she'd brought the bikini instead. Tossing her dress into the grass, she walked over to the edge of the pool and sat down, dipping her feet in for now.
Nicholas and Sophia walked up to the house party together, the girl smiling to herself and the boy looking incredibly nervous. Their parents had been pretty lenient on their outfits for the neighborhood party, allowing them to ultimately decide what they were wearing as long as it wasn't stained, ripped, or stupid. Sophia wore a flower printed romper, her wavy light brown hair falling just above her shoulders in it's normal bob style. Her brother was wearing his nice jeans and a teal button down collared shirt. His brown hair had been brushed messed with, but a bit unruly as his curls always tended to be. As they approached the crowd and mixed among other people from the neighborhood, Nicholas' gaze wandered as he looked for someone. Once his hazel eyes landed on her, he smiled to himself. Fiona Ziegler. She was holding a clipboard, probably having helped her mother plan the whole thing. She looked beautiful in her flow-y flower-printed dress, but he always thought she looked beautiful. A jab in his side pulled him abruptly from his thoughts and he quickly looked away, focusing on the annoyed expression of his sister. "Gosh, Nick, don't stare at people." Sophia rolled her hazel eyes at him. "If you a have a crush on Fiona why don't you ever just go talk to her?" She didn't wait for an answer before she turned away and walked up to the snack table, taking a plate of fruit to munch on. Nicholas quickly followed her with one final glance over his shoulder towards Fiona. "I can't!" He insisted, standing beside Sophia as she picked out some fruit to eat. He felt awkward at this social event, but it wouldn't be too bad if he could just hang by his sisters side the whole time.

Joseph’a gaze scanned the crowd, eventually falling on Vivian. She stuck out to him because she wasn’t dressed as nicely as the other guests. He decided to move in to say hi, finding that somehow her being dressed down made her more approachable to him. He put his drink down on a table before casually going by her side, “Sorry, I couldn’t help but notice you from across the room. I thought I’d come over and say hi.” He said, trying to sound smooth and relaxed.

Kalvin looked both ways, making sure there wasn’t any sort of chance that someone would spot him and then instantly darted out across the yard and to his chosen destination, however at the same time, someone seemed to think it was a good idea to step right in front of him and well...needless to say, Kalvin had not been able to stop himself soon enough and ran right into the girl and her younger sibling, loosing his balance as he fell to the ground with a loud “oomph” and his face pressed up again the grass.
Grumbling, Kalvin pushed himself back up to his knees and spat out some grass that had somehow found its way into his mouth. His clothes were stained green bow and his cheeks kind of hurt, but none of that mattered right now. What mattered was that these two people totally got in the way and now he was mad.
Letting out a low, almost growl like noise, the young raven haired boy turned to glare at them, wiping some smudged grass off his face. “Hey! Watch where you’re going next time!” He snapped at them, practically fuming with anger.
He should probably work on his anger issues at some point, but also, he didn’t really care a whole lot about what other people thought of him.

Julianna flinched a little as she bumped into the other boy. She then decided she wasn’t going to let herself be intimidated by some rich kid. She straightened up, “I apologize.” She said, “though I didn’t see you either.” She said as fixed her bun a little. She looked to him confidently.

Kirby had never been super fond of all these big neighborhood shindigs, but she didn’t dislike them either, and both her and Kenneth would’ve arrived much earlier if it had not been for the fact that her pet road - Bartholomew - had escaped, and well...he was kind of a special toad, especially to Kirby and she hadn’t wanted to just let him wander off where anything could happen to him, so using the excuse that she needed some air before they went to the party, Kirby had dragged Kenneth to the park with her in search of Bartholomew the toad.
Luckily, they had found him and Kirby lectured him softly as she and Kenneth walked over to the Ziegler’s house. “No, no, Bartholomew, what have I told you about wandering off like that? You could’ve gotten hurt!” She told him with a shake of her head. Just then, Kenneth gave her shoulder a shrug to get her attention and pointed over to the large house they were coming up upon. “What are we going to do with the toad?” Kenneth signed at her, giving her a pointed look. “I doubt toads are welcome and we’re already really late,” he continued and once he was done, he folded his arms and tapped his foot on the ground, looking at Kirby expectingly.
Oh...that was right, they didn’t really have time to bring Bartholomew back home, now did they? Kirby let out a thoughtful hum as she tried to think of a solution, and as soon as one came to her, she grinned over at her younger brother. “Oh, I know!” She declared and lifted her large, floppy sun hat off her head, large, black curls instantly bounding to life with its newfound freedom.
Then, with a smug smile on her face, Kirby gingerly lifted Bartholomew up and placed him on her head before she put the sun hat back on - albeit a little uncomfortably - and grinned at Kenneth, striking a pose.“Tada!” She exclaimed, waving her hands around excitedly.
Kenneth looked at her for a good long minute with a blank expression before finally, he sighed and rolled his eyes, beginning to walk into the party.
Kirby frowned. “Hey! Don’t give me that look! This way Bartholomew gets to enjoy the party too!” She called out after him, jogging to catch up.
Pretty soon the two Quinn siblings had found themselves hovering by the pool. Kenneth seemed content to stay there and simply stare at the water, but Kirby honestly kind of wanted to go in.
Pausing slightly, she leaned over to her brother. “Think it would be okay if I went in? I think Bartholomew would really like the water, he is a toad after all...” She explained, looking from the pool to Kenneth as she waited an answer.
“I think if anyone finds a random toad in the pool, they’re going to-“ Kenneth paused to give Kirby a very pointed look and then signed something that Kirby didn’t think she could repeat out loud.
Instead she let out a little gasp and gently whacked his arm. “Kenneth! Language!” She told him in a hushed, appalled voice.
