Do you think Darktail will be the final villain or will a greater threat arise by the end of the series?
For example, in the OS, we thought that Firestar's final opponent would be Tigerstar, but he instead had a showdown against Scourge. Similarly in DOTC, Clear Sky was the main antagonist for the first three books until One Eye. And after One Eye, we get Slash.
In TNP and OOTS, there was a main antagonist that stayed the main antagonist since the beginning (Hawkfrost and the Dark Forest) with other threats like Mudclaw and Sol acting as distractions.
What pattern do you think AVOS and Darktail will follow?

He'll probably be the main antagonist with Sol as a major distraction and obstacle in the way.

I hope he'll be the main antagonist I really don't want him to be killed off by Greencough or something else and then "oh no we have another villain who we barely know about!!!!" a reason why i don't like Tigerstar's first death.

unless there's some really good buildup I want him to be the main antagonist
I could see maybe one of his cats usurping power, leaving him angry that he was overthrown by his own principle of only the strong deserving to survive, making him bitter but taking away any real ability for him to pose the kind of threat he did as a leader

What if Dark Tail starts out as the main villain, and the clans fight against him, until right before the end Needlepaw defeats him but instead of celebrating, the clans watch in horror as Needlepaw takes over Darktail's rogues, betrays the clans, and continues his quest to destroy the clans. The clans are about to be destroyed but then SkyClan arrives just in time, giving the clans just enough strength they need to fend off the rogues and survive.
I think that would be cool.
