What events, concepts, and character arcs do you think would've been better had they been executed properly. For example, the whole Squirrel Leaf lying thing. Would it have been better if it was thought through?

I'll add more later, but regarding specifically Squirrelflight and Leafpool, I would've had it so that their telepathy actually played a role for why everyone thought the kits were hers so easily (since she would've been picking up on Leafpool's symptoms) and also put emphasis on what happened in Sunset be Leafpool's main reason for wanting to keep the kits a secret in the first place.
During that book, the older cats were so upset about ThunderClan taking in so many outsiders to the point where Mousefur had called a Clan meeting; Firestar ended up snapping at them partially because Stormfur was his last connection to Graystripe after he'd been taken by Twolegs. This challenge to his leadership happens again after Brambleclaw is named deputy without an apprentice, with Mousefur asking if Firestar thought he could do whatever he wanted and Ashfur pointing out possible nepotism (granted, it was because he was jealous, but still).
Because Leafpool's kits were born only a few moons later and she was already pregnant at this time, these events would've been fresh in her mind. In LW, I think it's also implied that she might've even been exiled if she'd said anything sooner.
For medicine cats in general, I'd have it so that the reason they can't have kits is because it'd weaken their connection to StarClan.
