This has been bugging me after going through a bunch of warriors characters that have been described as tortie and white but seem to be filled in with calico patterns. Are there any calicos described in warriors as explicitly calico? I'm honestly confused and wondering if they have something against calicos? Are calicos seen as government spies and thus should never be mentioned? I need answers.

Hopwhisker has been described as one, and I'm pretty sure she's the only one to have explicitly been described as such so far.

I think the UK defines calicos by "tortoiseshell-and-white" instead of saying "calico." From Wikipedia:

I think one or two cats out of the whole series has been described as calico and it was in the AVoS books iirc for the first, but nah, otherwise it's the UK variant like Sand mentioned. I had issue with the term as well until I realized it's a regional thing.

Before I found out about calico not being a term they used in the UK, I always pictured all the tortoiseshell and white cats to look like this When they probably all look more like this

Before I found out about calico not being a term they used in the UK, I always pictured all the tortoiseshell and white cats to look like this When they probably all look more like this It depends on the amount of white actually, for instance Spotedleaf doesn't read as the second picture at all and moreso the first. There's never really a way to "distinguish" the tortie-and-whites in Warriors unless it is specified somewhere("White with few Tortoiseshell patches" for instance I think it was used for... Shellfur? While Sorreltail is described as dappled with a "white chest and paws". Of course, artist interpretation can change that)

BrindlefernThat makes sense, like, I still imagine Spottedleaf looking like the first picture, but Sorreltail and Poppyfrost looking like the second picture
