Previously on Avatar...
After defeating Kuvira and finally bringing peace to Republic City and the rest of the world, Avatar Korra lived a long and fulfilling life, and died of old age when she was around 82. After the Red Lotus incident, the Earth King decided that since the next Avatar would be an Earthbender, that they be kept under an even tighter lock and key to train and learn the four elements, so he demanded that every inch of the Earth Kingdom be turned over until they found the new Avatar. Almost twenty years had passed and people were starting to think that Korra had broken the cycle of Avatars with everything that had happened to her with Raava and Vaatu. During this time, a group of various benders had started a sort of cult called the Pureists, who were very discriminatory against non-benders. Elders tended to describe them as the "opposite of Equalists". The group began to start gaining members from other nations and started causing mayhem mostly in Republic City and they are lead by Azula's great granddaughter. The current Avatar lives in hiding in a small village on the outskirts of the Earth Kingdom, where long ago, Avatar Aang once saved from a distraught forest spirit, Hei Bai. His name is Devin. After learning that her son could bend more than one element, Devin's mom knew that he was the Avatar and that if anyone found out, he would be taken to the Earth Kingdom palace, locked away and never seen again. So, she forced him only to Earth bend, never telling him why, or about the Avatar. It's not until he saves one of his friends from drowning because he knows some water bending that they realize who Devin is and tell him about the legend of the Avatar. Except, Devin doesn't want to be the Avatar, he doesn't want responsibilities and doesn't believe that anyone like him could potentially save anyone, let alone the whole world. So, that's where we are now, Devin on the run from the Earth Kingdom soldiers who want to lock him away, from non-benders since they see him as the reason for the Purest uprising, and from Puriests themselves, as they truly idolize Devin and want him to join their cult, all while trying to master the four elements and possibly make some friends on the way.

About the RP
So, this is an Avatar the Last Airbender/Legend of Korra RP, quick run down if you haven't seen the series is that there is a universe where some people are able to bend one of the four elements and there is one person, the Avatar, who can bend all four who is kind of the protector of the world.
This takes place about 70/80 years after the Legend of Korra and to continue the cycle, the next Avatar is a boy earth bender, his name is Devin.
The main antagonist this time is a cult-like group made up of benders who believe that non-benders should be eliminated and are worthless to society, pretty much the opposite of Equalists.
I'd like to have me as Devin of course, one person for each element and then a couple non-benders thrown into the mix in the Avatar squad.
The technological age has advanced close to what ours is now, but of course there are many villages, like the one Devin is from, that is still in the same technological age of when Avatar Aang was alive.

The Avatar Universe
Each color currently represents the borders of different nations, red is the Fire Nation, Yellow is the Earth Kingdom, Blue is the Water Tribe, White is the Air Nomad Temples and Green is the United Republic of Nations, where people of all bending come together to live in peace that Avatar Aang and Zuko created together.
The animals in the Avatar Universe all seem to be random combinations of other animals, like a Wolfbat and a Platypus bear, most people being a bit weirded out when they see a simple dog or bear.
After Haromonic convergence (season 2 of legend of Korra), Avatar Korra opened up a portal to the spirit world, so seeing spirits around is very common and most of them live in peace.
Currently we're starting our journey in Hei Bei's forest, which is directly across from where all of the small Fire Nation islands are.
Also Probending has only gotten bigger in the years passing. |

Bending Powers
I'm going to guess that most of you who join have seen the show before, but just in case you need a refresher on bending powers, and a couple new things were introduced in LOK.
Air - Airbenders' main power is the ability to manipulate air. They can use a flight technique by operating a glider and using the air to provide thrust and lift. Airbending's opposite is earthbending and the confrontational style that serves as its foundation. The sub-skills of airbending are flight and spiritual projection. Flight has only been achieved by two people in the entire history of airbending, namely Guru Laghima and Zaheer.
Water - Waterbenders' main power is the ability to manipulate water, only when they have it available to them, whether it be in the air or in plants. They can change the state of the water as well. Due to its lunar sympathy, waterbending is stronger at night and ineffective during a lunar eclipse or when the Moon Spirit dies. However, to counter waterbending's ineffectiveness during a lunar eclipse, waterbenders gain immense power during the peak of the full moon. The sub-skills for waterbending are healing and bloodbending.
Earth - Earthbenders' main power is to manipulate all earth and metal-like substances. Unlike the other bending arts, earthbending's strength equally lies in both offense and defense. Earthbending is in stark contrast to airbending as airbending's emphasis is on evasion and mobility while earthbending's emphasis is on fortitude and strength. The sub-skills for earthbending are seismic sense, sandbending, metalbending, and lavabending.
Fire - Their main power is to manipulate fire. Due to its solar affinity, firebending is stronger during the day and at its full power at noon, but completely ineffective during a solar eclipse. When a comet passes close to the planet, the power of a firebender is greatly increased. A notable feature of special firebenders is an ability to create a hotter, blue fire; Azula was the only known firebender who demonstrated this extra-powerful flame. The Avatar Squad
Avatar - Devin West
male - 19 - the beekeeper's daughter
Devin is about 6'1 almost reaching 6'2. He's pretty muscular and works out sometimes, but he's not a bodybuilder or anything. He's around average weight, probably a little more with him being muscular. His skin is tanned pretty well mostly because he likes being out in the sun a lot. Devin does have a few scars on his arms and legs, but most have faded over the years. Devin has dark, ashy-brown hair that has some black in it. Not to mention it's very shaggy and always hangs in front of his eyes, which Devin likes very much. Devin's eyes are pale green color that look like mint leaves. Devin usually wears dark colors when it comes to clothes, but he's certainly not Goth if that's what you’re thinking.
Most of the time, Devin acts a bit on the quiet side, he's not shy, but more of a loner and not really into the idea that he needs to be around people all the time. He doesn't say much when you first meet him, but after you're around him for a while you can see he's just one of the guys. Devin does what he wants to and if you try to tell him otherwise, you're probably going to get yourself punched in the face. He doesn't like listening to people and likes going off and doing his own thing. He's good at defending himself with his fists, being that he's had practice. Devin likes music a lot, in fact he's a really good guitar player and not that bad of a singer. He's alright when it comes to sports. When it comes to girls, Devin usually just blows them off, believing that A. He is not worth anyone's time and B. What good is a relationship going to bring him? All the girls he's been talk a lot of crap about him, yet his appearance and "bad boy" reputation, he's always got girls lining up for a date. Devin seems like a cool guy, until you make him mad. You really don't wanna be around Devin when he's mad, mostly because once he's angry, he loses all self-control and he starts yelling and sometimes throws things and if you're near him, there's a good chance that he'll start hitting you. He's not the type of person you'd want to get into a fight with; Devin would hit you until someone dragged him away. Devin likes living his quiet life in his village where he goes any explores a lot by himself, sometimes with the few friends he has. He cares about his mom a lot and really loves animals and deep down he does have some love in him, but he truly does not believe he was destined for anything great or heroic and he often doesn't think very highly of himself.
Born to Katina West and a father whose name none of us can remember, Devin Levi West was born on March 12th. Devin's father walked out on him not even a month after he was born, leaving him and his mom to live by themselves. Growing up, Devin's mom worked two jobs to keep food on the table and keep them in a decent home, but she still made time to be in Devin's life, so they both lived a not an easy life, but they weren't unhappy.
Devin has a pet eelhound, who is actually his animal guide, named Kyja and he often boats over to the close by Fire Nation islands to trade with.

Rules Characters -
you only get one. Hey so no one's perfect, so your characters can't be either, if you want them to have some dark backstory, then it's gotta screw them up in some way. Your character can't kill everything, they are not invincible, everyone has a weakness. Your characters descriptions don't have to be as long as mine of course, but please do more than like two sentences. please try to keep the genders even

Hey guys so I understand people have lives, I work & I'm in college but just make sure you're on a few times a week if possible and this is a bit of an advanced RP so please keep that in mind.
Role-playing -
I'd like this to be a literate roleplay so at least 1-2 paragraphs but if you wanna go beyond that then, by all means, do so. Also no power-playing or roleplay other people's characters during battles.

Please no spam and such unless you're coming to get someone, You get one character since it's a small group, follow all the other Forum Rules, it's PG 13 around here so if it's getting hot and heavy please skip that out and of course have fun!

i’d like to take the best friend, and i’m leaning towards a fire bender who, in instance of losing control of her emotions, occasionally generates blue fire, and is attempting to learn to generate lightning? if that’s okay? the blue fire thing would be very rare and would like be symbolic of her losing control, and so the fire itself would be extra dangerous, so she’d likely try to dampen her emotions to keep it from happening ^.^’ if that’s not okay i totally understand!
