Bottom line: Yep, it's allowed. Just don't be stupid.

EDIT: If you are curious about your privacy settings, you can go to Profile (up top) --> Edit Profile --> Privacy. You can hide your email from the public if you wish.

Clarification to this. ^^

Emails can be changed to show to everyone through the privacy settings.
It can also be changed to only show your email to friends.
The other option is disable it via the privacy settings as well-
